INAUGURAL ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MR. UDOM EMMANUEL, EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF AKWA IBOM STATE

We have come together not to celebrate the triumph of a party, but to celebrate the victory of hope. The inspired hope that there is a divine promise, which binds us together in cords of love and brotherhood. Hope that the blades and daggers of politics can never break the bonds of our kinship. Hope that on this majestic occasion of the transition of power, signifying a glorious end as well as a hopeful beginning, we can renew our faith in the akwa ibom dream.

When our ancestors left Usakedit in the Cameroons, centuries ago, in search of better land, they bequeathed into the genes of every akwaibom person a dream of a better estate. In search of a better estate, our forefathers became the first people to agitate for the creation of States in Nigeria. In search of a better estate, they became the first people to build community schools in our country. in search of a better estate, they became the first people to establish community scholarship schemes to educate their children. Today, in search of better estate, we have, under the transformational leadership of His Excellency, Governor Godswill Akpabio, become first among equals in the comity of state in our country.

But the demand of history is that he who is first in a race must forever run faster than those who are behind , or risk losing his leadership position. So I place a demand on all akwa ibom people, at home and abroad, to come with hoes and shovels, and let us bury the twin evils of ethnicity and tribalism, which could slow us down in the race of development. At the same time let us sow the seeds of brotherhood, love and unity, which will energize us to maintain our current momentum and leadership position. Let us remember that with the spirit of brotherhood, love and unity, no foe can defeat us, and no rival can overtake us.

My dear compatriots, our Heavenly Father, history and posterity will not forgive our generation if we fail to continue the search for a better estate and pursuit of a greater akwa ibom State. This search we anchor on the timeless promise that whoever asks shall receive, whoever seeks shall find and who ever knocks, it shall be opened unto him. This promise is therefore, God-given, and it is large enough to shelter every boy and girl, man and woman, young and old from the scorching heat of injustice. as we seek to build a greater state founded on prosperity and justice, we should be reminded that in this Land of Promise, God will surely honor His own.

Therefore, today we celebrate the triumph of the akwa ibom spirit over the murky waters of politics. We were troubled, but we were not distressed; perplexed but we did not despair; persecuted but we were not forsaken; cast down but we were not destroyed. Today we stand tall because the trial of our faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it was tried with fire, was found unto praise and honor and glory. Let us therefore, stand together in the praise and glory of our heavenly father, knowing that he who began a good work in us, is faithful to complete it. Let us give God praise and glory and honor.
To those who stood by us in the long walk to this day, we appreciate your unwavering confidence, steadfastness, loyalty, trust and faith. to the few who were not with us, we remind them that the good people of our state have spoken and the voice of the people is the voice of God. To my former political opponents, I urge them and their supporters to let partisan feelings yield to patriotism. We hold out our hands to them. It is the planting season in the akwa ibom family and they are invited to come and plant with us. We do not have to see eye to eye in order to walk hand in hand. I therefore, beckon on us all to please come and let us build together.

I stand before you today not as a master but as a servant and not as a boss but as a co-labourer. I accept, with great humility and sense of responsibility, the mandate you have freely given to me to hold power in trust for you are your Governor. You have kept your part of the covenant and I intend to keep my part by executing the programmes i enunciated to you during my official declaration to run for the office of Governor. These include:

1. To leverage and build on the Uncommon Transformation of the Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio administration.
2. To transform the economy of our State via industrialization and sustain public-private sector initiative, thereby opening up opportunities for growth and improved living standards.
3. To respect and uphold the tenets of democratic governance which our great party (PDP) unflinchingly stands for, as well as respect the party’s structure, decisions and hierarchy.
4. To ensure the security of lives and property of the people at all times, while adhering to the principal of the rule of law, thereby ensuring equity, justice and fair play.
5. To promote unity and oneness across the State, with due respect for Traditional Institutions and the Elders of our Society.
6. To continuously develop mobilize, and empower our women and the youths via planned and well articulated welfare and capacity-building programmes.
7. to give all akwa ibom persons (both within Nigeria and the Diaspora) a proud sense of belonging-built on good governance, economic advancement and due respect for the Fundamental Human Rights of all.
8. To pursue the taks of Rural Development and Integration with all vigour, bring the benefits and dividends of our democratic governance to every nook and cranny in the state, and provide basic amenities of life to all.
9. To ensure Accountability and Transparency in government by fighting and tackling corruption in all facets of our Administration.
10. To provide trade, commerce and tourism between akwa ibom and the rest of Nigeria, and in fact, the rest of the world.
11. To foster, develop, and maintain a good working relationship with both the legislative and the Judiciary arms of Government in the state, as well as ensuring an effective Local Government Administration for grassroots development, mobilization and empowerment.
12. To attract all possibly required Federal presence to akwa ibom State, by developing and sustaining a harmonious and very cordial relationship with the government at the centre.

Theses then are the milestones we have set for our democratic journey under my stewardship. We invite all of you to think of what you can do for our State to achieve these milestones, and not what our state can do for you. We urge you to keep this administration in your thoughts and prayers. We will gladly welcome your ideas and contributions. We will accept your constructive and open-minded criticisms. akwa ibom State belongs to all of us, and it is only in the development of this State that we can attain our individual goals and aspirations.

Let me pay tribute to our immediate past Governor, His Excellency Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON, with steady hands on the wheel of progress and development, he steered the ship of our dear state through ill and fair weather, and landed us on shores of uncommon achievements. He became a metaphor for good governance and an abiding testimony that we can have a government not only by the people and of the people , but also for the people. Seldom in the chequered history of mankind has so many owed so much to one man. We owe him a debt of gratitude, which we can never hope to pay. People gawk at what he has done and ask, “Can anyone fill the large shows he is leaving behind?” I don’t know whether we can, but we know where the shoes are pointed and we are all heading towards that direction.
Just yesterday, the akwa ibom State House of Assembly passed a resolution that this great architectural masterpiece, one of the many great infrastructures built by the Akpabio Administration, be named, Godswill Akpabio International Stadium” in celebration of his uncommon transformation of our State. This was a reflection of popular sentiment, and the least we could do for His Excellency Governor Godswill Akpabio. I, therefore, in the discharge of the office invested in me, proudly give accent to this resolution and let this stadium be henceforth known, called and addressed as “Godswill Akpabio International Stadium”

In the same vein, I want specially appreciate his wife and our former First Lady, Her Excellency, Mrs. Ekaete Unoma Akpabio (Mkpouto akwaibom, the Most Supportive First Lady in Nigeria) for her motherly love and support for the akwa ibom project. She had lifted up many and has transformed lives. My wife and I pay tribute to her historic support for our cause and the actualization of this divine mandate.

We thank the PDP, our great party for the support of its national and state officers in actualizing this mandate. The PDP may have had a setback in Abuja, but we can turn into a fortune as it relates to akwa ibom State, the Gilgal of Nigeria to reinvent our party. To our campaign Team led by the indefatigable statesman, role model and leader, His Excellency, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga and other opinion leaders, we salute you. You charted the course for our victory by reminding our state that the promise of our State should be the inheritance of all akwa ibompeople. Thank you.
I equally thank all members of the outgoing State Executive Council, the State Legislature, the Judiciary, and the Local Government Officials, for the harmonious working relationship that we all witnessed in the tenure of the last administration. The cordiality made possible the uncommon transformation programme of the State Government. We equally congratulate the newly elected and returning members of the State House of Assembly on their resounding victory at the recent elections.
Once again, we thank all akwa ibom people for the trust and confidence, bestowed on us. We thank the Elders, the youths and the women for their support. We equally appreciate all the socio-cultural political groups who worked tirelessly to see the manifestation of this day.

So my compatriots, where do we go from here? We have come a long wa in the last eight years, but there are still some mountains before us. We will bring down the walls of Jericho. We will vanquish every Goliath in our way. Like Jesse Jackson said, “Will are tired of sailing our little boat, for inside the harbor bar. We want to go out where the big ships float, out on the deep where the great ones are. And should our frail craft prove too slight for waves that sweep those billows over, we would rather go down in the stirring fight than drowse to death at the sheltered shore.”

Therefore, sound the trumpet and let it be known that being an akwa ibom person is not simply a matter of your parents coming fromakwa ibom, nut having the faith that you are a child or promise and a giant killer. Having the hope that in His time God makes all things beautiful. God is making all things beautiful in our time. We will go forth, not by our power or by our might, but by His Spirit and we shall do exploits.

Thank you all, and God bless you.

Long live akwa ibom State!!!

Long live the Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria!!!

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!

Meet The 52 Yr-Old Woman Who Still Breast Feeds Her 6 Yr Old Daughter.

Maha Al Musa, 52, Belly dancing expert and human rights activist, is one of the oldest women in the world to be breastfeeding.
Maha says that she’s only responding to her daughter’s natural desire.
“Sometimes it tastes like candy canes. It tastes like lots of different things,” said Amina, 6, who reportedly enjoys “sleeping and sucking” her mother’s breasts.
“I might stop when I’m eight. It’s my favorite thing to do when I’m not at school. More kids should, because it’s good for you,” she added.

According to Maha, who lives and raises her children in the Australian town of Byron Bay, breastfeeding an older child is “perfectly natural,” even in public. “She says to me, ‘Mummy milkie.’ I could be in the middle of doing something or talking and it’s so natural to us, we don’t make a big deal of it,” she said.

Although critics say the practice does not provide nutritional benefits over the age of one, Maha disagrees. “chest milk helps to regulate a child’s blood sugar so for example a toddler having a tantrum can be calmed through the chest milk,” she said. “Two years ago when I was 50 and Aminah was 4.5 I had my chest milk tested at the University of WA biochemistry department where they do a lot of research on human milk. This was the first time they had tested a woman’s milk of my age group and I can report that my milk still had all the properties and nutrients relative to that of a woman half my age with a smaller baby has. So this fact is worth noting when people’s opinion claims chest milk has no nutrients after a child reaches one year of age.”

More Than 743,000 Children Have Fled Their Homes To Escape Boko Haram Violence In Nigeria – UNICEF

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says over 743,000 under-18 children have fled their homes to escape violence perpetrated by Boko Haram in the North-East.

This was made known by the Chief Child Protection UNICEF Nigeria, Rachel Harvey, who spoke in Abuja during an occasion to commemorate this year’s Children’s Day celebrations.

She lamented that many Nigerian children were still living under the shadow of one form of violence or the other. “Most alarming is the level of violence in the North-East, of which children are bearing the brunt. Over 743,000 under-18s have fled their homes to escape the violence.”

“Many children in Nigeria live under the shadow of violence not just in their communities, but also in their homes and in their schools, places that should provide safety from harm.

“Children have lost their lives, witnessed horrific acts of violence, been forcibly recruited to fight and been subjected to s*xual violence,” she said.

This year’s Children’s day focuses on an important theme for Nigeria: Violence Against Children: Addressing the Challenges. The immediate past Minster of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Zainab Maina said the choice of the theme was informed by the Nigerian environment characterised by insecurity as well as violence against women and children.

Maina said it was a calculated attempt by the Ministry to create more awareness, sensitize stakeholders on the ills of violence, s*xual abuse and exploitation of children.

Youths Scramble For Fuel As Tanker Falls At Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Youths numbering over 50 are selling premium motor spirit (PMS) in buckets along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway where a fuel-laden tanker fell this morning.

A 20 litre bucket was being sold from N1800 upwards, depending on the buyer’s bargaining power. A queue was building up as drivers call on the youths to dispense fuel to their waiting vehicles. As youths struggle to fetch fuel from the fallen tanker, policemen and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) watch.

A Fire Service truck belonging to the Ogun State government was also on standby to ensure any fire outbreak is controlled.

Similar incidents in the past have ended up in infernos, but Nigerians always take their chances and that was the youths did.

Nigeria struggles with fuel scarcity as its new president Muhammadu Buhari is sworn in. Nigerians will be looking up to him to address all the problems the country faces and for many of them, they want to see the change he promised as from today.

One of the youths selling the fuel fetched from the tanker attributed the ‘easy money’ he was getting to Buhari. He said in Hausa, “Buhari has entered, change has started”.

Four Innovative Solutions To Nigeria’s Energy Needs

As at Monday, Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy, was on the verge of a shutdown. The lingering fuel scarcity had managed to cripple almost all sectors of the economy. However, the heroics of Capital Oil boss, Ifeanyi Ubah, and the truce brokered between the oil marketers and the government by its Senate, ensured Nigeria remains open for business.

The fuel scarcity over the last few months has reopened the discussion on the merits and demerits of a complete removal of fuel subsidy. More Nigerians have come to agree that the way the country’s oil and gas sector is being run needs to change. One important thing would be to deregulate the downstream sector. This, though, isn’t sufficient. The country needs to be more committed to developing its renewable energy potentials, which apart from being a suitable alternative, furthers the country’s commitment to meeting climate change targets.

Nigeria has several alternatives to fossil fuel, given its rich endowment with natural resources. If effectively exploited, the country may be on a path to the energy sufficiency it urgently needs to ensure sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

Fuel Ethanol

Nigeria is a signatory to the Kyoto Protocol, a legally binding agreement under which industrialized countries will reduce their collective emissions of greenhouse gases by 5 percent from the 1990 levels by 2008-2012. The deadline has been extended to 2020, with the target upped to 18 percent of carbon cuts. To achieve this, every country must blend a certain percentage of biofuels with gasoline to reduce carbon emission. Dr. Babatunde Obada, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Global Biofuels Limited, which is Nigeria’s first Biofuel Refinery, says Nigeria can achieve this. “…it is possible to make an E-5, E-10 or even E-20 blend without modifying any component of the cars presently plying our roads.

“An E-10 blend will remove approximately 900 metric tonnes of carbon from our environment. Again, E-10 blend translate to 10 percent less gasoline importation plus 10 percent less subsidy payment, all of which leaves more Naira in the purse of government,” he said in an interview earlier this month.

This can also foster economic growth. If Nigeria focuses on producing fuel ethanol, more refineries will need to be built, translating to more jobs and a more competitive market. The use of Ethanol fuel in the U.S. has increased dramatically to about 13.2 billion in 2013, from about 1.7 billion gallons in 2001. The country gets 354 gallons of ethanol per acre of corn, the crop it produces better than any other country. But Nigeria has more potentials. Apart from being a producer of corn, sorghum and wheat–also sources of ethanol–the country is the world’s largest producer of cassava. If it decides to fully exploit its fuel ethanol potentials, Nigeria can produce 410 gallons of the alcohol from an acre of cassava.

Biomass

Biomass surpassed oil to become Sweden’s number one source for energy generation in 2009, accounting for 32 percent of total energy consumption. The total energy consumption from biomass grew to 115 TWh between 2000 and 2009, from 88 terrawatt hours (TWh). The usage of oil-based products declined to 112 TWh, from 142 TWh, during the same period. Sweden is now on its way to eradicating importation of fossil fuel for its transportation sector by 2030. Rather it will supplement the gap by generating energy from motley assortment of ingredients like stale bread, potato peels, used cooking oil, and cow intestines. It is already putting 99 percent of its waste to use, and imported 800,000 tons of waste in 2014.

Although Nigeria generates 3.2 million tonnes, only Lagos, its commercial hub has made good use of its waste. “We have succeeded in producing electricity from waste at the Ikosi Fruit Market. It is already generating electricity and we are going to scale that up in all markets in Lagos,” Ola Oresanya, Managing Director, Lagos Waste Management Authority said. The biomass potentials of Nigeria are undeniably huge. Lagos’ success on its small scale pilot is a sign more success can be achieved in the space.

Solar energy

Africa has the highest concentration of sunlight. The continent has the best potential for solar energy developments, according to the DLR, Germany’s national aeronautics and space research centre. The agency cites the continent’s DNI as proof of this in its report for SolarPaces 2009.

However, despite its solar energy potentials, 80 percent of Africa’s electricity is generated from fossil fuels. Nigeria, the continent’s largest economy has attracted several solar energy developers, including Gigawatt Global, which is building a 100MW PV station in the north. Motir Seaspire, a US investment consortium has also signed an MoU with the Nigerian government to deliver up to 1,200MW of solar-powered electricity in the country by 2017. With the terrestrial radiation on Nigeria’s land area 2.079 x 1015 kWh/year, solar energy can be the answer to Nigeria’s energy needs.

Geothermal Energy

While other renewable energy sources like solar and biomass have been explored, Nigeria is yet to utilize the heat emitted from its earth.

The success of Kenya’s geothermal power generation shows what Nigeria can achieve if the country invests in digging geothermal wells. The East African nation boosted its power generation capacity by 17.5 percent after exploring geothermal resources.

Now that abundant sources of geothermal energy have been found along the Benue trough in Nasarawa, Benue, and Plateau States, as well as the Borno Basin, a successful pilot programme will encourage private investment and boost the country’s poor power generation capacity.

Nigerians Have To Be Patient With Buhari – NACOMYO

The National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO) has commended Nigerians over the perseverance and understanding showed during the hardship caused by the fuel scarcity in the country.

Speaking through its National President, Kamal’ddin Akintunde the group noted that such perseverance symbolizes patriotism. He therefore urged them to asking them to sustain such endurance when president-elect Muhammadu Buhari.

NACOMYO noted that such sacrifice would be needed to ensure Buhari’s success.

The organisation also commended PENGASSAN and the Independent Oil Marketers for reaching an agreement with the government to end the strike. It also commended Capital Oil for its initiative, placing national interest above company’s consideration.

It renewed the call for the new political-office holders to deliver on their electioneering promises.

NACOMYO also praised the outgoing government of Goodluck Jonathan for its people-inclined policies, programmes and projects including the revived ailing railway and other public transportation.

David Mark Urges Nigerians To Unite, Preserve Democracy

Senate President, David Mark, has urged Nigerians to persevere more for the continued sustenance of democratic government in the country.

He said “all hands must be on deck where everyone plays his or her role to ensure that our democracy endures”.

Disclosing this yesterday in a goodwill message to Nigerians marking this year’s democracy day, Mark said “All Nigerians deserves commendation. We have done well so far. We must strive more to make democracy a way of life.

“As an active participant in our democratic journey since 1999, I can say without any fear of contradiction that our democracy has endured.

“The successes recorded so far especially with the last general elections clearly shows the unwavering commitment of Nigerians to its fruition”.

He noted the challenges of the democratic experiment and expressed optimism that all the initial hiccups would be confined to history soon.

Senator Mark pointed out that the occasional disagreements between the Executive arm of government and the Legislature warranting the Judiciary’s interventions have been part of the learning curves for effective checks and balances between and among the three arms of governments.

Senator Mark, in the message issued in Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, expressed believe that despite its imperfections, democracy remained the best form of government that is not just representative but participatory.

He, therefore, enjoined Nigerians and the international community to support the new administration of Muhammadu Buhari, just as he implored them to build on the foundations of previous governments and make progress.

He reminded them to do the needful for citizens anchoring their actions on adherence to rule of law, respect for human rights, freedom of expression, equity and justice.

The president of the Senate said he anticipates an egalitarian society under the new government where all citizens would be safe and protected to live and carry out his or her legitimate duty without fear of molestation or harassment in any part of Nigeria.

He promised that the National Assembly will continue to cooperate and indeed lay solid legislative frame work for the Executive arm of government to deliver dividends of democracy to the citizenry without compromising the independence of the parliament.

Inauguration: Lagos Cancels Restriction Of Movement For May Monthly Sanitation

The Lagos State Government has cancelled the restriction of movement during the May edition of the monthly sanitation scheduled, which is this Saturday.

The Commissioner for the Environment, Tunji Bello, said the decision was to allow for a smooth inauguration of the incoming Governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode, and the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.

The commissioner said, “The Lagos State Government has cancelled restriction of human and vehicular activities during the May monthly sanitation coming up this Saturday as the state prepares for the swearing-in/inauguration ceremony of the new governor.

“This cancellation is to allow for a hitch-free swearing-in and inauguration coming up both in Lagos and Abuja. The restriction of movement was lifted in order to allow full participation of our people during the state and national inauguration ceremonies.

“The restriction of movement was lifted to also allow easy transportation of fuel from the various tank farms from Lagos to other parts of the nation, as well as allow normalcy to return to our roads. The next edition of the cleaning exercise will come up in June”.

Mr. Bello said the government still expected Lagosians, who were not travelling for the inaugurations, to clean their homes, drainage channels and keep the environment clean.

NLC Calls On Political Office Holders To Publicly Declare Assets

Mr Issa Aremu, Deputy National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Thursday said political office holders should publicly declare assets to facilitate easy tracking of ill-gotten wealth.

Aremu gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kaduna.

“The President-elect has promised to publicly declare his assets. Let all public officers follow. We can then know who has what and who is having an eye on our commonwealth.

“Let nobody earn more than what is recommended by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission”, Mr. Aremu said.

He described Nigeria’s system of governance as most prohibitive with very low dividends for the people.

“Nigeria system of governance is the most prohibitive.

“Worse still is that it delivers low benefits to citizens; poor roads, lack of water, irregular electricity, insecurity and of late scandalous non-sale of petroleum products while government officials remain indifferent”.

Aremu attributed the situation to greed and mismanagement by public office holders.

“May be we should talk of high cost of misgovernance or high cost of no-governance.

“What is responsible is greed not the need of government officials.

“Why would a poor state build houses for two term governors in his state and Abuja and some state assemblies generously awarded governors pension benefits for jobs that are not pensionable”, he queried.

He cited the example of the National Assembly whose budget shot up from N15 billion in 2003 to N150 billion in 2015.

“A lot of what they earn are not salaries but self-awards.

“In the 2003 budget, N15 billion was allocated to the National Assembly and in 2015 they helped themselves to N150 billion.

“Can you see how office holders under-develop Nigeria?”

He insisted that the salaries and allowance of political office holders must be tied to their productivity and made public knowledge.

“It should be linked to their productivity and the income of workers in the country.

“We should discourage widening income gap between ruling elite and poor working men and women”

“We’re struck by just how long this went on for and how it touched nearly every part of what FIFA did,” a law enforcement official told the Times.

“It just seemed to permeate every element of the federation and was just their way of doing business. It seems like this corruption was institutionalised.”

A group, Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative, has filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, from swearing the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari in.
The suit is also seeking an order to nullify the certificate of return issued to Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

They filed the suit on the allegation that Buhari did not qualify to contest the presidential election because he gave false information about his academic qualification to INEC.

The Group’s lawyer, Mr. Philip Ekpo, alleged that Buhari did not meet the qualification in the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act to stand for the March 28, 2015 presidential election.
Buhari, INEC, the CJN are the 1st to the 3rd respondents in the suit respectively.
The group wants an order of interim injunction restraining the CJN “or any person acting in his capacity” from swearing in Buhari as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29, 2015 or any other date thereof pending the determination of the motion on notice.
The suits declares states that the plaintiff seeks among other orders,

“A declaration that the 3rd defendant be stopped from swearing in the 1st defendant as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as the issue of perjury involving the 1st defendant has not been resolved.

“An order restraining the 3rd defendant or any person appointed for such purpose from swearing in the 1st defendant as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29, 2015 or any future dates whatsoever for giving false information to the 2nd respondent on oath.

“An order annulling the Certificate of Return given to the 1st defendant by the 2nd defendant.”

“The 1st respondent (Buhari) gave false information in the affidavit he presented to the 2nd respondent (INEC) and on the strength of which he contested and purportedly won the presidential election which was conducted by the 2nd respondent on March 28, 2015.

“The 1st respondent deposed to an affidavit dated November 24, 2014 that his West African School Leaving Certificate is in the custody of the Secretary to the Military Board.

“The Nigerian Army on January 20, 2015, said that in the personal file of the 1st respondent with the Nigerian Army, they do not have the original copy of his West African School Leaving Certificate nor does the Nigerian Army have the Certified True Copy of his WASC results neither do they have a photocopy of the said result.

“The 1st respondent has not met the qualifications enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Electoral Act, Cap E6, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2010 (as amended) to have contested the position of President of Nigeria at the 2015 general elections.

“That the authority conferred by Section 140 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) on the 3rd respondent to administer oath of office to any person who will occupy the office of the President of Nigeria cannot be exercised in respect of the 1st respondent who has not fulfilled the requirements of the same constitution and the Electoral Act as it relates to his eligibility to occupy the office of President of Nigeria.”

The case is still pending as it has not been assigned to any judge.
