OJB’s kidney reportedly collapses again

Popular Nigerian music producer and singer, Babatunde Okungbowa popularly known as OJB is reportedly on admission at the General Hospital, Lagos following a relapse of his kidney ailment.

OJB, who had a successful kidney transplant in India last year, had a relapse two weeks ago, this is according to a report by Yes! International magazine.
A source at the hospital who spoke to the magazine said

“The medical experts who attended to OJB at the Lagos Hospital were shocked at the sudden relapse despite last year’s successful kidney transplant. They chided him for not going back to India for post-surgery check-ups as specified by the team of Indian doctors in the medical report given to him”.

When contacted, his third wife, Korede said “I don’t want to say anything about it unless he talks about it himself. Have you called him? Because I have not seen the story and he has even warned me about it. So please I don’t want to have anything to do with it unless he talks about it himself. He warned me and I have to respect and obey my husband” she said

His first wife, Mabel donated one of her kidneys to him last year and he was believed to be doing well until this recent development.

Messi is back to his best with the support of Neymar and Suarez said Simeone

By Diego Simeone

Lionel Messi’s genius decided an evenly disputed match between Barcelona and Bayern Munich on Wednesday. He is an extraordinary footballer and after the game, much was written and said about whether there is a system to stop him.
But it’s not as simple as that.

Barcelona played a fantastic first 15 minutes against Bayern and had two great chances in that spell – one through Dani Alves and the other with Luis Suarez. The same thing then happened in the last 15 minutes. It’s not only Messi, however – it’s Barcelona.

Suarez gives Barca the aggression that is so important in the attacking third; Neymar is there to finish off a counter-attack, an individual action or a collective move; the presence of Ivan Rakitic makes Barca more aggressive in midfield and in winning the ball back; Javier Mascherano in defence is everywhere; Gerard Pique has been immense this year; and the full-backs attack constantly.

Lionel Messi in the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League
Barcelona are a unit and in that unit, the individual talent of Lionel obviously stands out – but he wouldn’t be able to do it without the support of his team-mates.

The presence of Suarez and Neymar – in his second season – has helped him. He has the support of the entire team. Rakitic has given Barca extra stability in midfield and is a different option to players like Xavi and, previously, Thiago. The attacking potential of Suarez is an added plus for Barca – and for Lionel – this season and his aggression, along with that of Pedro and Neymar, allows Messi to take advantage of that sacrifice from his team-mates.

At Atletico Madrid we played Barcelona six times last season and Messi did not score in those matches. But Lionel is enjoying a great season this time around. Perhaps last year he was not at the consistent level he has been at in 2014-15. Right now he is at the level we have come to expect from him over the years – and obviously that makes it very difficult for any rival that comes up against him.
While Messi has received plenty of praise, Pep Guardiola has been criticised for starting with three at the back at Camp Nou.

However, it’s all too easy to talk after the game. Pep’s priority was to gain an extra player in midfield and to win possession in that area of the pitch, but Barcelona came out strongly, pressed well and moved the ball forward quickly That meant Bayern were not allowed to play as they wanted at the beginning of the match. Nevertheless, they were right in it for almost 80 minutes of the game.

Whatever decisions we make, us coaches always look to do the best for our teams and Guardiola will do that again on Tuesday.

It will be very difficult for Bayern to come back from a 3-0 deficit – but in football you never know. Barcelona will be taking nothing for granted, while the Bayern players will be aiming to pull off an historic win.

However, Bayern will be thinking about winning the game – not about scoring three or four goals. If you focus on scoring three goals, you lose sight of the first, because you are thinking of the third.

That moves you away from the result you are looking for. But if you play with intensity and go out to win the game, football can reward you with a result that, a priori, is extremely difficult.

Muazu

Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu said that PDP won’t survive if he leave the party. Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Tony Amadi, who told Punch ,

“Let them go and form their parallel party and let us see where they are going to get their votes from. The only reason Mu’azu doesn’t want to resign is because if he does, those who want the PDP buried will succeed. Why are these people trying to create problems for themselves and the outgoing President?

“The President has said let us sheathe our swords; that is why we have not said anything for the past one week and we obeyed the President. He is our leader; why are they doing this?I thought that we have finished elections, we have got a President-elect and we are going to hand over to the President-elect. Why are they taking us back? Please, let them cool down, Mu’azu is not the problem.”

The tranquillity of the Umuchoko community in Ngor Okpala council Area of Imo State was punctured at the weekend following the alleged gruesome murder of Miss Calista Nzubechukwu Uzoigwe by a pastor and his daughter over a phone battery.

Sunday sun reliably gathered that the cleric popularly known as ‘Esom Jehovah’ and the presiding pastor of Assemblies of God Church, Umuohiagu III, Umuanyamele village had engaged with the deceased in a brawl before his first daughter known as “The Pee” stabbed her at the back and she died on the spot.

Callista, 23 who was from Okpanku community in Aninri area of Enugu State had allegedly accused pastor’s daughter of stealing her battery and charger.

Confirming the incident, a co-tenant to the pastor and medical doctor in charge of Graceland Hospital, Umuchoko Umuohiagu told Sunday Sun that Miss Callista died immediately she was stabbed but was rushed to Holy Rosary Hospital, Emekuku in Owerri North LGA of the state where she was confirmed dead and deposited in the hospital morgue.

The medical doctor who disclosed that the deceased was undergoing training in his clinic stated that he was not at the scene when the tragic incident occurred, however recalled that he met the deceased in a pool of her blood about 2:30 pm that fateful day on return to the hospital following a distress call from other nurses who witnessed it all.

According to an eyewitness who preferred anonymity the trouble had ensued between the deceased and pastor’s family when the former confronted her assailant over a missing phone battery and charger.

She said that a boy in the compound had given the deceased a phone battery and charger to assist him recharge it but that Pastor Esom Jehovah’s first daughter allegedly stole the items which were later found in her custody five day later when search for the items had exhausted.

The pastor, it was gathered had reacted angrily to the allegation against her daughter and had confronted the deceased which resulted in a brawl and the man of God mercilessly beat up deceased before his daughter went and picked a kitchen knife and stuck it deep into Callista’s back while her father held the nurse down.

A source revealed that the knife pierced through the back to her chest and she bled profusely, and eventually died.

Don’t Expect Change Overnight – Buhari Reiterates

image

The President elect, Mohammadu Buhari, on Sunday said the change Nigerians are expecting cannot happen overnight.

Buhari also said the incoming administration will, in the short term, lay emphasis on agriculture and mining to deal with the challenge of youth unemployment.

He said this while receiving in audience members of some northern groups, led by Alhaji Maitama Sule and the Northern Elders Forum, in Abuja, on Sunday.

According to him, the task before the northern leaders, especially the clergy, is to help sensitise the public that the change they desire and voted for, cannot happen overnight.

He pointed out that it took 16 years to destroy the nation’s economy, noting that the nation earned more within the last 16 years under the Peoples Democratic Party, than it did since 1914, but that most of it was frittered away.

He said, “The biggest message is to try and persuade the people that it is not possible to change the state of affairs now.

It took 16 years and those 16 years, most of you know it better than myself, Nigeria earned revenue more than what it earned from 1914 to then.

“You know that we used to have Nigeria Airways, Nigeria National Shipping Line, Nigeria Railways.

Where are they now? Where is the infrastructure? Between then and now and what we earned in-between and what is on the ground.

“That is how efficiently how the PDP managed Nigeria in the last 16 years. Now we have invariably inherited all the problems, especially in the north east.”

Buhari added, “So, you have to convince your constituencies that you have virtually arrived at the wrong time and that they have to temper their expectation with some justice towards the leadership.

“I think whatever has to be deployed especially in the churches and mosques, this is the quickest way to communicate this to the ordinary people, continue to remind them if all the things I said in all the states I visited.

“We picked three fundamental problems. The first is security. The country has to be secured before anything can be put in place and then the economy.

The fact is that more than 60 per cent of the Nigerian population are youths and most of them, whether they have been to school or not, are unemployed and this is the biggest danger if we don’t know it.”
