Let's Have Your Views On Women 'Toasting'/Proposing To Men

What happens when the bush meat chases the hunter?

An hunter is supposed to search for bush meat in the forest and hunt for it, but when the bush meat begins to pursue the hunter, there would be a cause for alarm and that's dangerous.

These days, so many women have resorted to proposing to a man. Last week, I saw a picture of a lady proposing to her fiance on her knees and I was like ," hehehehe, now she is the hunter."

In this African age, culture stipulates that the man weds a woman and does all the proposal processes but at a later time in this ongoing future, some people began to see a need for reversal. They felt they could inculcate the foreign culture and flow with the trend. They bemoaned the idea of a man doing it all.

Well, before I state my views, I would love to add the views of some friends on this same topic.

Question: Do you think a woman should propose to a man?

From the Men:

-----"He who finds a wife not she who finds a husband. If she had fallen in love, I will only advise she create an enabling environment for me to pop the question and not her doing it. She can ask me "Hey bobo, what is going on? Me and you know that we are not related?" By Matthew Adedoyin of Abstinence Icon.

----"As for me, a woman may propose to a man but I would not subscribe to her doing it verbally. She should use non-verbal ways of expression. A sensitive man will pick the message, he won't pick a message of 'she wants me to have a relationship with me' which can put him off, instead he will pick a message of 'I think she likes me - she really likes me', and that can endear the man more to the woman and hopefully compel him to spill the beans.

Caring for him more than every one else, paying attention, speaking his love language regularly. Also, being in his face and words all the time but communicating with him based on the things that stimulates his interests". By Gabriel Olatunji of http://ift.tt/1nx1N8M

-----"I feel more excited and accomplished when I make her feel like a woman by being the one to propose. She smiles and then says "Yes" while I propose, that makes me feel manly but if she proposed and I say yes, that would make me feel like a sissy. She proposing shows desperation and I don't like desperados". By Nyakno Obong

------"I don't exactly see a problem with it. It doesn't mean she should go all out and literally do it though, best all she could do is give the guy signs that he would pick on.

PS: She must be certain the guy likes her even a little bit". By Adewale Ademola

-----"It has happened to me before and am not the kind of person that finds it easy to propose. It's not actually bad especially when the guy is not sure of the ladies feelings for him. Although Africans see it as being cheap, I see it as being real. I don't advise a woman to ask a guy that doesn't really love her out, she would be taken for granted.

I then asked: "What if she is not sure of the love and they have been friends for like two years?

He continued that: "The best a woman can do is to ask where the relationship is getting to. Is there any definition? Though she might be taking the lead that way" By Seun Emmanuel Alaofin of Sea Publications.

----"I don't like it. I wouldn't trust her. I would feel she can do the same to any other man. Won't respect that approach". By Folayemi Itunu of Relationship Capsules and Pholarstudios

----"It depends on her. If she is okay with it. She can propose. I can't determine what is right or not for anyone. She may if she feels like". By Dr Malik Haruna

From the ladies point of view:

----"The Bible said he that findeth a man not she that findeth a husband. God would have created Eve first if that's the case. There is a place of positioning but not wooing. The man has to do the search and the chasing. It makes them feel good. A man won't respect such woman because she acted cheap and might turn to other ladies that would make him feel like a man. She should allow him do it". By Dorathy Ndidi (Adorable Oma) of Bruised but healed Ministry

----"No, it's wrong. Our culture and religion doesn't permit it". By Lewa Nuggets

----"It's wrong for a lady to do that. She is not the man. She can only position herself for the guy and not act as the man. There are ways to give him the green light". By Rachel Thom Manuel.

----"The proposal should come from a man because there is a pride and ego attached to it". By ChiAmaka Onyia

My view:

It's not about what the culture thinks or what the tradition says but I will like to state that there was no place in the Bible which should be our manual, where a woman proposed to a man.

Ruth only positioned herself properly for the man to sight her and he did. She didn't beg him to love her. There are various reasons why it should not be encouraged. Though it has worked for so many people but some have fallen victims into the wrong hands in that process.

If he is meant for you, he would surely realize it someday as you position yourself.

There is nothing wrong in it like you may think, its just a misuse of roles. Some married men could claim that it was their wives that proposed to them, that's their luck. I have seen a guy who said that his uncle was proposed to by his wife and he doesn't mind a woman doing the same to him. Our lives are different.

So why is it wrong for a woman to propose?

Our gender roles are different. A man feels confident when he can talk to a woman, get her attention and make her feel wholesome. He loves the chase and enjoys the game. He finds way of how to get closer and more romantic, this should be a continuous stage even In marriage but most men drop the vibe few years after the wedding bells.

Some would feel that a woman is being too forward about it. A man is meant to take lead roles in a relationship but a woman can create the environment. The man is the head of his wife so he has to pick what's best for him. Women are created as helpmeet, it's always better when a woman sight the need and propose to a woman.

Sometimes when a woman claims to be in love with a man, she would do all she can to make it work including proposing and most times ,the man may feel pressured. A man must decide who he would end up with and hence, work towards getting the prize.

A gift is more treasured than a freebie. A gift is given by a special person while a freebie is given by anyone and it's mostly cheap.

Let the hunter get you. Don't be desperate. It might work for you though but please keep your pride for the man who values it.

I'm sure you either agree or oppose, please drop your comment and let us know the answers to the questions with your reasons.

I Wasn’t Trying To Seduce The President –Seyi Shay Tell Nigerians (SEE PHOTO)

Most entertainers have been having fun with President Goodluck Jonathan in recent times and earlier in the week, the President was in Lagos and hanged out with some of these celebrities.

Singer, Seyi Shay was among the entertainers and the pretty diva ‘broke’ the internet with the dress she wore to meet the president at the event.

The picture where the singer, wearing an incredibly short dress, while sitting beside the president, went viral and so many fans and foes have expressed their feelings concerning Seyi’s outfit.

Many people, including celebrities and notable figures such as comedian Wale Gates; social analyst, Omojuwa, took to their social media accounts to express their feelings over her choice of outfit.

However, when Saturday Beats contacted the singer, she explained that she had two outfits for the event and the outfit that caused the stir was what she wore to perform.

She emphasised that she is a respectable lady and was not planning to seduce the president in any way.

“I am a very respectable young lady and I was not in any way trying to seduce the President with the outfit I wore. I had two outfits for the event, one was for my performance and the other was worn after I performed. The dress I was pictured in with the President was what I wore during my performance.

“I came on stage and greeted everyone according to their culture and I did the same for Mr. President. He was impressed and he asked where and how I knew how to greet in his native dialect and I said I learnt it. That was what brought about the giggling and smiles in the picture.

I’m a performer and what I do on stage doesn’t reflect my everyday life. I had two outfits on that day and it was a youth event. Who wouldn’t feel overwhelmed meeting the President? Well, I did and I felt honoured because it is not every day you get to meet the president of your country,” she said.

Seyi said her fans should expect her much anticipated album at the last quarter of the year.

“I am busy working on my album and it would be out by the last quarter of the year. I promise not to disappoint my fans. I would deliver because I love you all,” she said.

Hear her;

“I am a very respectable young lady and I was not in any way trying to seduce the President with the outfit I wore. Evil Ministers: 2 Pastors, General Overseers Arrested With 5 AK47 Rifles. (See Photo)

Detectives attached to the Monitoring Unit of the Imo State police command have arrested two General Overseers (GO) for alleged gunrunning.

The suspects, Clifford Nmenabu, founder, God Covenant of Christ the King Sabbath Missionary and Festus Daniel Igwe of Zion House of Prayer Sabbath Missionary were alleged to have procured five AK47 rifles for use during the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking on how the suspects were busted, the state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali told Saturday Sun that the command acted on a tip-off which indicated that the suspects had acquired some firearms. According to him: “On February 13, 2015, policemen led by the officer in charge of the Monitoring Unit, Superintendent of Police, Linus Nwaiwu stormed their churches in Oru East Local Government Area, arrested and recovered all the guns.”

CP Ali explained that in the course of investigation, it was discovered that the clerics were contracted by one Mr K. Nnamdi who they claim is based in London.

“The two clerics were given an advance cash of N300,000 for 10 pieces of AK 47 rifles and to be given a cash balance of N1.2million as soon as they deliver. The suspects were nabbed when they were about to hand over the five AK47 rifles to a group of persons who claim to be representing Biafra in the church premises of Pastor Igwe.”

The police boss also said that his command has declared Nnamdi wanted and would charge the suspects to court at the end of the investigation.

One of the suspects, Pastor Nmenabu, 67, said that apart from his ministry, he is dealing in arms. “I am the General Overseer of God Covenant of Christ the King Sabbath Missionary. I have been in the ministry for over 35 years. I am also into buying and selling of arms and ammunition. I was listening to Radio Biafra London when the broadcaster, who introduced himself as Nnamdi, gave out a number through which he can be reached. I called him and he explained that he is the coordinator of the popular Biafra group.

“I told him who I am and what I can do for the group. He gave me the contract and I decided to ask my fellow priest, Igwe who has contacts. He offered to pay N1.2 million for 10 AK47 rifles. He gave us N300, 000 as a deposit. We were waiting for the balance when policemen stormed my house and arrested us”, he confessed. The second suspect, High Priest Festus Igwe, 63, said that he is willing to assist the police to track down Nnamdi who is currently on the run.

“I am the GO of the Zion House of Prayers Sabbath Mission. I was in the church, when Pastor Nmenabu contacted me that there is a good business on ground. I rushed to his church and gave me the details.

Luckily, I still had contact with some arms dealers in Imo state.

He also introduced me to Nnamdi who gave us an advance fee of N300,000.

“We had delivered the five AK47 rifles and was waiting for Nnamdi to bring the balance when the police arrived. I am very sorry. I am ready to assist the police to track down Nnamdi”, he stated.

‘Even If PDP Shows Video Of Tinubu, Buhari Robbing CBN, Nigerians Will Vote Us’

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has maintained that its followers will still vote for the party, even if, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, shows a video of its leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and its presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, robbing the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

This was according to a tweet by the party on its handle, @APCNigeria, attributed to an unknown Ibadin, which stated that, ” Even if PDP shows a video of Tinubu and Buhari on AIT robbing the Central Bank of Nigeria, it won’t change our minds.

Too late – Ibadin”.

The tweet which was published on Thursday, 5th March at 12:21 AM, has generated over four hundred (400) retweets and fifty five (55) favourites while some followers have berated the content, others have identified with it.

In what seems to be a jibe to the documentaries on Buhari and Tinubu aired on some television stations in the country, the party added that “If the PDP had spent the money they are wasting on bribing media houses and buying PVCs on infrastructure, they would have seen what to campaign with”.

17 Year Old Wife Kills Her 3-Day-Old Baby To Cover Up Pre-Marital Sex

Shock enveloped the people of Rijiyar Lemo in Fagge local government area of Kano State when a young couple in the area strangulated their newborn baby girl.

Weekly Trust gathered that the couple got married two months ago and the wife, Faiza Haruna, gave birth to a baby girl last weekend. The baby was killed by Faiza, three days after she put to bed and her husband, Aminu Mustapha buried her in their neighbourhood.

It was learnt that the 17-year-old housewife killed the baby with the consent of her husband.
Neighbours said Faiza delivered the baby at home without the help of any medical personnel.

“During the pregnancy, she didn’t attend any antenatal clinic. It was we that assisted her during child labour. She delivered the baby safely and we assisted her with all the necessary cleaning up,” a neighbor who asked not to be named, said. “Hours after given birth, Faiza started telling people that the baby was sick. We advised her to take the baby to hospital but three days later, she and her husband returned home without the baby. We drew the attention of Hisbah officials and they were arrested because we suspected foul play.”

It was at the Hisbah office that Faiza confessed that she killed the baby. Hisbah commandant in Fagge local government, Ustaz Salisu Umar, said the couple killed the baby to cover up their premarital affairs.

It was gathered that the Hisbah operatives handed over the couple to the police after their preliminary investigations.

In a chat at the Kano State police headquarters, Faiza opened up to Weekly Trust on why she killed the baby.

“I gave birth to the baby and killed her myself. I did so to avoid embarrassment from members of our community. I was impregnated by my husband before we got married,” she explained.

When asked what she used in killing the baby, she said: “I didn’t use anything; it was my bare hands that I used in killing her. I went into my room when my husband was not around and strangulated her.” She revealed that her husband did not take part in killing the baby, but assisted by burying the corpse. Her husband, Aminu Mustapha, 29, admitted to burying the baby.

Spokesman of the Kano police command, ASP Magaji Musa Majia, said the couple would be arraigned for prosecution accordingly.

“The husband is not denying the fact that he impregnated her outside wedlock. She killed the baby because she delivered it two months after marriage. This is a case of culpable homicide and abetment of offender. They are in our custody and we will charge them to court immediately after investigation,” he said.

7 Features An Average Nigerian Looks Out For In A Smartphone

A few years after Chinese OEMs started focusing on the Nigerian smartphone market–ending the Blackberry era and ushering in the Android revolution–things have really changed and Nigeria can now boast to be the largest mobile market in Africa. Just after Tecno Mobile revolutionized its business and ventured into the smartphone market, Android OS smartphones became accessible to a lot of average Nigerians at a time when Blackberry’s market share was at its peak.

Fast forward to the present, the competition is getting even more tight with Infinix, Innjoo, Oppsson, Wiko and other companies trying to win the heart of Nigerians. New smartphones ranging from low-end devices to high-end gadgets are released into the market every now and then.

But the question is this: Do these companies really know what Nigerians want?

Judging with the new devices in the market now, it is obvious that some know exactly what Nigerians want and fashion their products based on these basic needs. An average Nigerian don’t really know what NFC does and don’t really care if a smartphone has it. Even people using smartphones with NFC enabled hardly use it.

We take a look at the 7 basic features an average Nigerian cares for in a smartphone.

1. Battery

In a country with a world record epileptic power supply, any smartphone with an efficient and strong battery that can last the whole day is automatically a winner. This is so crucial that most people would never go for a device with a weak battery even if all the features in the world are packed into it with a very cheap price.

Nobody likes running out of battery when power supply isn’t even guaranteed. It’s either the battery is strong, or the phone comes with a power bank.

2. Camera

I’ve come to realize that an average Nigerian wants to hear stuffs like 13Mp, 16MP… it seems those huge numbers are magical. Whether the camera has a Carl Zeiss lens isn’t important, and I’m not sure an average Nigerian knows what Optical Image Stabilization means.

As long as the resolution sounds pretty huge and the produced image is clear and sharp, the smartphone is likely to sell.

3. Durability

The truth is that nobody wants to buy a smartphone that won’t withstand abuse. People want phones that can be dropped mistakenly and still work.

4. Speed & Performance

At this point, a phone that isn’t fast enough isn’t for an average person. Almost everyone uses Facebook, WhatsApp an BBM all at once. A smartphone should be able to run these basic apps simultaneously and conveniently whether or not its a quad-core processor phone or it’s got 2GB RAM.

Device speed and performance is a very important factor.

5. Internal Storage or Free SD Card

People want enough space on their device, a large internal storage means a lot. And again, if a device comes with a free 16GB SD card or more, it’s can be a selling point. No one wants to run out of space. HD movies alone eat a lot of space not to mention “heavy” Android games.

A limited storage that’s not expandable isn’t for Nigerians, trust me.

6. Screen Size

A device with a 3.5″ screen? Nah… it’s probably the kind of phone you would buy for a kid.

7. Price

Nigeria may now be the largest economy in Africa but the truth remains that it’s still a growing economy. The price placed on a device will play major role in determining how many units will be sold.

The lower, the better.

Geeks and people who understand the technology behind these gadgets actually do want more but they are not the majority. Will a time come when the majority would prefer a Snapdragon processor to a MediaTek processor? I mean a time when people will realize that a huge resolution doesn’t really mean great pictures? That remains to be seen.

Airport cleaner who returned N12M gets salary increase, grants first media interview

Photo: This is the real airport cleaner who found $27,000 and returned it to the owner(Her Story)

It started with galore of scoldings for Miss Josephine Agwu, a mere airport cleaner who found forgotten $28,000 and other foreign currencies totaling about N12m and refunded it to the owner. Some called her dumb-ass, others referred to her as silly, especially as the owner of the money showed how not to appreciate goodness.

She became a subject of mockery, both for people present at the airport who heard of it, and notably on some social media platforms. But Miss Agwu held herself with satisfaction that she did the right thing. Now, her saintly gesture is being appreciated.

Recognition and appreciation

The Lagos State House of Assembly, last Monday, concluded plans to invite and honour her. And her employers have increased her salary from a paltry N7,800 to N15,000 per month. And in her words, “FAAN (Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria) said that they are going to give me automatic employment, but I have not heard from them till now.”

And she added: “On the part of my management, they are happy, all my supervisors. In short, they are doing good things for me. Now, they carry me like egg, even my MD.”

Miss Agwu, a cleaner with Patovilki, a concessionaire handling the cleaning of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos, found the N12m while cleaning a toilet near the screening point of the departure area of the airport, and took it to the security post.

The owner later came and the security returned the money to the owner and disclosed how Miss Agwu found the money and brought it to them. After counting the money and it was complete the owner simply looked at Agwu and walked away. This was the third time she was returning lost bags containing huge sums of money.

For a cleaner who earns N7,800 monthly for a 12-hour day job, her act of integrity shocked many. The Lagos State House of Assembly which just returned from recess has requested the Clerk of the House, Mr Segun Abiru, to invite Miss Agwu to the House. Deputy Whip of the House, Honourable Abiru Rotimi Abiru, had under Matter of Urgent Public Importance, raised the issue which happened on January 23, 2015, calling the attention of his colleagues to the fact that Miss Agwu was returning lost money for the third time.

Company policy

The management of Patovilki, Miss Ugwu’s employers, played a major role in influencing her action. The company has an in-house policy to guide every of their employee working at the airport. In an interview with Saturday Vanguard, Mrs. Eunice Anumudu, Manager, Airport Zone, said: “Since the incident, people have been reacting to it and they have been praising her for what she has done, and that she did well and several people have been calling her.”

According to Mrs. Anumudu, “My own impression as a manager is that she did well because that is what we told them at the initial time that she was searching for the job. We told her that as you are looking for this job, the salary is too small. Can you do the work? She said ‘yes’, so we told her that anywhere we put you, you have to behave well because this is an airport. We have many ogas here, you don’t know who is who. If they ask you question that you cannot answer, you look for the supervisor or the manager to answer the question.”

Mrs. Anumudu continued: “Wherever we post you and anything that you see there, don’t take it home. Take it to the security because that thing does not belong to us. It is the passenger that has it. You know, some of the passengers, when they travel, some of them will leave their bags and sometimes phones in the toilet.

“So, we told them to behave well, respect everybody. Since this incident happened, she has not been promoted to a supervisor or other higher position, but we contacted our Managing Director and what she did was to increase her salary. The MD was happy about what Miss Josphine Ugwu. She has agreed to increase her salary from N7,800 to N15,000.”

Certainly, not every of the employee so briefed would have returned the money, which also portrays Miss Ugwu as an exceptional person.

Sense of fulfillment

Speaking also with Saturday Vanguard, the beautiful lady, Josephine Ugwu, who has been catapulted to limelight, relived the experience that day: “I am from Enugu State, from Obonkpa in Nsukka Local Government. I live at Agbotukunyo in Agege. The incident happened on the 23rd of January 2015. I was on morning duty. So as I was sweeping around 6:30pm, I saw the bag on the ground and there were some passengers there so I thought that the bag could belong to one of them. But as I closed at 7:20pm, the person to relieve me on duty came that time.”

“I was going to the toilet again, I saw the same bag there. Then I told the passengers sitting there that they should be mindful of the bag because once they announce the flight they may forget it. They replied that the bag did not belong to them. Three of the passengers left, so I then picked the bag and took it to the FAAN security people. At first, they put the bag on the screening machine, before they opened the bag and discovered that there were many envelops in the bag containing money in different currencies including dollars.”

“As they were counting it, I saw an NDLEA woman accompanied by one man and both of them were coming towards us. They said that the man could be the owner of the bag. So when they came in, they interviewed the man and the man mentioned the amount of money and the colour of the bag. Before then, they had counted the money and it was exactly the amount that the man said.”

“Then they carried the money and gave to the man for him to count. After counting, they asked him if the money was complete, he said yes and they snapped him picture. They asked him again about three times and they told the man that, ‘look at the woman that picked your bag’, and the man was looking at me. His name is Mr. Obinna Samuel. They told him that he should thank his God that if it were another person, that person would have run away with the bag but this woman didn’t do that. So I left and the man took the money and put inside the bag and went away.”

“Then FAAN security personnel called me back, and they took my number On-Duty-Card (ODC) and my name. That was how it happened. People are praising me, FAAN said that they are going to give me automatic employment but I have not heard from them till now.”

Miss Ugwu is aware of how she is being viewed by some Nigerians. She was reported to have advised: “People should appreci ate what they have. People do a lot of bad things because they are not happy with what they have. With the little I earn, I try to manage it well. If I can’t manage that small money that I earn, even if I begin to earn N1 million, I will still not know how to manage it.

“So, I am telling every Nige rian to be happy in any situation they find themselves. Don’t be faster than your shadow because so many things will go wrong. Sometimes things get bad because people want to be like others. All fin gers are not equal. It is true that God promised those who serve him riches, but people should be careful how they go about it. I am telling people to have pa tience. It is because people want quick money that is why some people become thieves.

She concludes: “On the part of my management, in fact they are happy, all my supervisors. In short they are doing good things for me, even they are carrying me like egg, even my MD. They have added money to my salary. In short, my manager, Madam Eunice has been doing many things for me since the incident, praising me. She said that she knows that she can trust me, and that I cannot see anything that does not belong to me and I take it away.”

Real Madrid Star Ronaldo On Course To Become Highest-Paid Athlete In The World.

The Real Madrid superstar, who topped the Goal Rich List for 2015, is in position to overtake Floyd Mayweather as the most bankable sports star on the planet.

If football is the world's game then Cristiano Ronaldo is head and shoulders above the rest as its chief salesman. The three-time Ballon d'Or winner is now the highest-paid team sportsman on the planet and has been confirmed as the richest football player in the world with the publication of the 2015 Goal Rich List.

Footballers were once lagging far behind the US 'big three' sports stars in terms of their bankability, but Ronaldo out-earns all of them now and Lionel Messi isn't far behind.

Ronaldo is not, yet, out on his own as the highest-paid athlete in the world but he will be. According to the recently-published Forbes list of the 100 top paid athletes, Ronaldo earned $80m in 2014, second only to Floyd Mayweather Jr. The 37-year-old welterweight is estimated to have earned a mammoth $105m.

Ronaldo earned $52m between salary and bonuses with the other $28m coming off the field. He expertly renegotiated his Real Madrid contract in 2013 to make him the best-paid player on the planet - a status befitting him as the world's best player.

His endorsements and commercial deals include that long-standing contract with Nike, equatable to what the American sportswear manufacturer pays Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, as well as a newly-announced partnership with the Sacoor Brothers clothing company.

Ronaldo also runs his own CR7 underwear line which has now been expanded to include a range of shirts and footwear.

The shoe line has caused ructions with Nike, who reportedly demanded the Portugal captain drop sport shoes from his range. Instead, the line features dress and smart/casual shoes produced in collaboration with Portugal Footwear.

Ronaldo's latest venture is now an employer in a highly-specialised industry; he is becoming an all-encompassing economy all to himself.

Mayweather boasts no endorsement deals at all but there is no denying "Money" remains the biggest draw, not only in boxing, but in all sport.

In 2013, he signed a two-year six-fight deal with Showtime which guarantees him at least $32m every time he steps in the ring. He also takes a large chunk of the pay-per-view earnings. For his September 2013 bout against Saul Alvarez, for example, Mayweather is reckoned to have cleared $70m. His two fights against Marcos Maidana in 2014 brought that $105m total mentioned above. Not bad for just over an hour's work.

May 2 brings the long-awaited showdown between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. The Filipino's promoter, Bob Arum, estimates that the purse for the fight will be around $300m. A 60-40 split of the money has been agreed with the lion's share going to Mayweather. That means he is likely to earn $180m for his 36 minutes' work on the night.

Catching up |Ronaldo is second only to Floyd Mayweather Jr in earnings

Later in the year, Mayweather will bring the curtain down on his illustrious career which he will be attempting to improve to a perfect 50-0. His final fight, even against a name who does not command the attention like Pacquiao, should again earn him at least $100m. That will likely be that for Mayweather whose earning potential will dramatically lower once he hangs up his gloves.

With him out of the running, the stage is set for Ronaldo to reign in 2016 - not only as the highest-paid team athlete but the highest-paid full stop. It will be the first time a footballer tops the list; the richest footballer and the highest-earning sportsperson in the world. That is his destiny.

Kurt Badenhausen, Senior Editor at Forbes, is in agreement.

"Companies are always going to be wary of aligning themselves with [Floyd] Mayweather for personal endorsements, but that has never been how top boxers make their money.

"Ronaldo should continue to add to his personal endorsements as long as he continues to perform at a high level."

Ronaldo is now 30 but is less than two years into his five-year mega deal at Madrid. Factor in his earnings from elsewhere and Ronaldo could well become the third man, after only Mayweather and Tiger Woods, to break $100m in a single year.

Competing for top spot will be LeBron James, who earned around $72.3m in 2014 according toForbes. The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar is a year into a two-year deal with his hometown club after leaving NBA champions the Miami Heat. Once LeBron decides what he is doing after the 2015 season then it is conceivable that he might strike out for Ronaldo.

Just behind is Lionel Messi on around $65m for the year with Kobe Bryant rounding out the top five on $61.5m. The United States remains the nation that pays the best with 60 athletes featuring on the Forbes list.

When Black Men Ruled Europe

After the fall of the Roman empire in the 4th to 5th centuries, Europe entered into what is known historically as the Dark ages - a period characterized by lack of growth in knowledge, backwardness and little development. Civilization was to be brought to Europe again through the Moors of North Africa who were a black muslim people, in their conquest to spread Islam. From 711 to 1490, black men ruled in Spain, Portugal and France, leaving behind architectural wonders of today: The Alhambra and the Mosque of Cordoba in Spain.

1. The Spanish occupation by the Moors of North Africa began in 711 AD when an African army, under their leader Tariq ibn-Ziyad, crossed the Strait of Gibraltar from northern Africa and invaded the Iberian peninsula ‘Andalus' (Spain under the Visigoths).

Tariq ibn-Ziyad.

Iberia peninsula refers to Spain, Portugal and Southern France. The Moors established their civilization and ruled all over Iberia and Southern France.

Map of Iberia.

2. A European scholar sympathetic to the Spaniards remembered the conquest in this way:

a. [T]he reins of their (Moors) horses were as fire, their faces black as pitch, their eyes shone like burning candles, their horses were swift as leopards and the riders fiercer than a wolf in a sheepfold at night . . . The noble Goths [the German rulers of Spain to whom Roderick belonged] were broken in an hour, quicker than tongue can tell. Oh luckless Spain! [i]

[i] Quoted in Edward Scobie, The Moors and Portugal's Global Expansion, in Golden Age of the Moor, ed Ivan Van Sertima, US, Transaction Publishers, 1992, p.336

3. The Moors, who ruled Spain for 800 years, introduced new scientific techniques to Europe, such as an astrolabe, a device for measuring the position of the stars and planets. Scientific progress in Astronomy, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography and Philosophy flourished in Moorish Spain.

4. Basil Davidson, one of the most noted historians recognized and declared that there were no lands at that time (the eighth century) "more admired by its neighbours, or more comfortable to live in, than a rich African civilization which took shape in Spain"

Modern Berbers:

5. At its height, Córdova, the heart of Moorish territory in Spain, was the most modern city in Europe. The streets were well-paved, with raised sidewalks for pedestrians. During the night, ten miles of streets were well illuminated by lamps. (This was hundreds of years before there was a paved street in Paris or a street lamp in London.) Cordova had 900 public baths - we are told that a poor Moor would go without bread rather than soap!

6. The Great Mosque of Córdoba (La Mezquita) is still one of the architectural wonders of the world in spite of later Spanish disfigurements. Its low scarlet and gold roof, supported by 1,000 columns of marble, jasper and and porphyry, was lit by thousands of brass and silver lamps which burned perfumed oil.

7. Education was universal in Moorish Spain, available to all, while in Christian Europe ninety-nine percent of the population were illiterate, and even kings could neither read nor write. At that time, Europe had only two universities, the Moors had seventeen great universities! These were located in Almeria, Cordova, Granada, Juen, Malaga, Seville, and Toledo.

8. In the tenth and eleventh centuries, public libraries in Europe were non-existent, while Moorish Spain could boast of more than seventy, of which the one in Cordova housed six hundred thousand manuscripts.

9. Over 4,000 Arabic words and Arabic-derived phrases have been absorbed into the Spanish language. Words beginning with "al," for example, are derived from Arabic. Arabic words such as algebra, alcohol, chemistry, nadir, alkaline, and cipher entered the language. Even words such as checkmate, influenza, typhoon, orange, and cable can be traced back to Arabic origins.

10. The most significant Moorish musician was known as Ziryab (the Blackbird) who arrived in Spain in 822. The Moors introduced earliest versions of several instruments, including the Lute or el oud, the guitar or kithara and the Lyre. Ziryab changed the style of eating by breaking meals into separate courses beginning with soup and ending with desserts.

11. The #Moors introduced paper to Europe and Arabic numerals, which replaced the clumsy Roman system.

12. The Moors introduced many new crops including the orange, lemon, peach, apricot, fig, sugar cane, dates, ginger and pomegranate as well as saffron, sugar cane, cotton, silk and rice which remain some of Spain's main products today.

13. The Moorish rulers lived in sumptuous palaces, while the monarchs of Germany, France, and England dwelt in big barns, with no windows and no chimneys, and with only a hole in the roof for the exit of smoke. One such Moorish palace ‘Alhambra' (literally "the red one"wink in Granada is one of Spain's architectural masterpieces. Alhambra was the seat of Muslim rulers from the 13th century to the end of the 15th century. The Alhambra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

14. It was through Africa that the new knowledge of China, India, and Arabia reached Europe The #Moors brought the Compass from China into Europe.

15. The Moors ruled and occupied Lisbon (named "Lashbuna" by the Moors) and the rest of the country until well into the twelfth century. They were finally defeated and driven out by the forces of King Alfonso Henriques. The scene of this battle was the Castelo de Sao Jorge or the 'Castle of St. George.'

Photos: 2 Pastors, General Overseers Arrested With 5 AK47 Rifles
