Jimi Agbaje Subtly Responds To Oba Of Lagos "Die In The Lagoon" Threat

Jimi Agbaje Responds to threat by Oba Of Lagos' . In his words on his facebook page:

In the words of Winston Churchill: "Never, never, never give up."

I'm aware of the intimidation that a lot of you might be facing as we head into the final stretch of this election campaign. I get it. I understand what you are going through because I also had to face it in the course of this campaign, if this serves as any consolation.

One thing I've learnt in life, however, is that the people who threaten you, knowingly or unknowingly, further validate your importance and underscore advantage. I would like to take this time to encourage you all not to respond to intimidation with violence but rather confront it with the collective power of your votes. Change is coming to Lagos. Tell your friends and families.

I hope you all had a pleasant Easter celebration.

Whoever Wants To Remove Me Will First Have To Impeach God — Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has dismissed the purported impeachment notice posted online by the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the State House of Assembly, saying he was yet to be served any impeachment notice.

Fayose, while speaking at a audience participatory programme; “Meet Your Governor” aired on the State Television, EKTV, Ekiti Radio, Progress FM and NTA, Ado Ekiti today.

He described those plotting his impeachment as the same enemies of Ekiti State that plotted his exit from office in 2006.

“Nobody served me any impeachment notice. I only saw the notice online like every other person.”

The governor, who described himself as an Israelite said; “I’m like Israel that is in the midst of enemies but will always prevail. Whoever wants to remove me will first have to impeach God.”

He said the APC people were trying to get at him because he wholeheartedly supported President Goodluck Jonathan’s reelection bid.

“They are doing all these just to get at me because of my support for President Jonathan and I have no regret for supporting the president.

“Let me say it again, I have not been served any impeachment notice. The House of Assembly is also on recess and Dr Adewale Omirin is not the speaker of the State House of Assembly.

“Omirin is in court, challenging his impeachment and he can’t be challenging his impeachment in court and at the same time laying claim to being Speaker,” he said.

While urging the APC to accept defeat as done by President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP, Governor Fayose said; “By the power of God, they lost 16 – 0 on June 21, 2014, they lost 16 – 0 again on March 28, they will lose 26 – 0 on Saturday, April 11.”

Ohanaeze Gives Oba Of Lagos 48 Hours To Withdraw Alleged Threat Comment On Igbos

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), the youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural organisation of Ndigbo, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Oba of Lagos, Alhaji Rilwan Akiolu, to “retract and unconditionally apologise to Ndigbo” over his alleged death threat to Ndigbo living in Lagos should they fail to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Akinwumi Ambode, on April 11.

Apart from positing that democracy confers on the electorate, the freedom of choice, OYC said it considered the comments credited to Akiolu as “a despicable insult on the Igbo nation, home and abroad, least expected of a royal father in the rank of Oba of Lagos.”

The group called on security agencies to invite the Oba for questioning because of the grave dangers his current posture portends while lambasted the monarch for employing crude arm-twisting, obtaining by tricks tactics.

The monarch had reportedly threatened to make life unbearable for the Igbos in Lagos if they sabotage efforts being made to ensure that Ambode emerges as the next governor of the state.

Akiolu was said to have summoned all the Eze-Ndigbo in Lagos State to his palace yesterday and told them: “On Saturday, if anyone of you goes against Ambode, who I picked, that is your end. If it does not happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and it is not my father who gave birth to me.

“By the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside this water.

“For the Igbo and others in Lagos, they should go where the Oba of Lagos heads to. When they were coming to the state, they did not come with all their houses. But now, they have properties in the state. So they must do my bidding. And that is the bidding of the ancestors of Lagos and God.

“I am not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi is my blood relation and I told him that he could never be governor in Lagos for now. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere you cannot do it here.”

Reacting to the monarch’s outburst, OYC, in a statement issued this afternoon in Umuahia and endorsed by its National President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, warned that “Igbo youths will not take this insult lightly, and unless he apologises within 48 hours he should know he is courting our wrath.”

OYC further warned that should anything happen to Ndigbo or their business interests in Lagos in the event of APC losing the Lagos governorship race, the Oba should be held responsible.

“Inasmuch as we do not want to get involved in Lagos politics, we want to sound a note of warning that no Igbo should be vilified or persecuted for his or her electoral choice in Lagos or any part of Nigeria,” the group said.

“Every Nigerian has the constitutional right to reside in any part of the country and participate in the electoral process based on one’s convictions, and electoral choice is not a crime,” it added.

Isiguzoro said “nobody no matter what he thinks he is, has the right to command Ndigbo anywhere on who to vote for in a democratic setting.”

He said that the unprintable comments credited to the Oba had only revealed his innate hatred for Ndigbo.

The Oba, according to him, “should be reminded that the economy of Lagos will collapse should Ndigbo decide to pull their investments from the commercial city.”

He said that “Ndigbo have remained the most persecuted , hated and marginalised tribe in Nigeria , yet the most enterprising and highest contributors to the growth of its economy, peace and unity.”

OYC asserted that the Igbo race needs commendation and not hatred for their ingenuity, versatility and presence in every part of the country, adding that God has destined Ndigbo to prosper in any part of the world, even in hostile environments.

The group, therefore, encouraged Ndigbo in Lagos and elsewhere to vote according to their conscience in the forthcoming polls without fear of intimidation.

Immature Attitudes Guys Possess That Piss Ladies Off

It is very disgusting seeing many adults exhibit frustrating, annoying and disgusting habits just like a one year old boy who's still being bosom-fed by his mother.

However, it's believed that many ladies (if not all) seek financial security but that doesn't mean that every lady will settle down with a foolish man all in a bid to seek financial security.

This write-up focus briefly on immature attitudes which many immature dudes exhibit and below are some of the it;

1. Disease of Indecision

This is a chronic epidemic common among immature dudes. God Himself made men to be decision makers, and has placed us ahead of the ladies.

However, in some relationships, guys have become ladies puppet due to indecision. Such guys can't stand on their decision as they are tussle by wind of parents and girlfriend's decision. Statements common to such guys for e.g are 'MY MUMMY SAID.... MY BABY SAID.... etc.

2. Excessive stalking and calling

Even if you are dying for a lady, when you show too much affection and desperation, her love and respect for you may head on diminishing returns.

You need not call a lady 20 times a day before she develops interest in you. Many bore ladies with frequent calls, and several sms which can be sometimes annoying.

3. Disgusting and Dangerous Outfits

They say the way you dress is the way you are addressed. The notion that one must not judge a book by its cover has driven many guys into wearing tattered jeans, pierces trouser, pierce their ears, wearing shirts with skull sign, skin with tattooed devilish signs, which can be so disgusting. A reasonable lady from a good home will turn you down in a wink because she cannot take you to her home

4. High Temperament on mere issue

Ladies love when guys who are slow to anger in times of provocation, disagreement or quarrel. Immature dudes flare up at any slightest disagreement under the cloak of "I don't take rubbish from ladies. Many however lose their temperament and register a slap on her face

5. Being too authoritative when they make little cash.

When guys who have low self esteem make little cash, "person no go hear word again". These guys become too authoritative, arrogant and think they can order every lady around. This is just a display of immaturity.

6. Low sense and deductive reasoning

Immature dudes reason like rooster. They lack sense of purpose, urge for achievement and show low IQ to sensitive issues. They can't sense when a lady is emotional or not. One of the reasons why they act dumb and turn themselves to clown at the sight of ladies.

Look at this headline on Financial Times about Tinubu

Tinubu is now being described as Nigeria's Machiavelli? It says 'How a political godfather helped bring down a president'. Lol at bring down. I think he helped make GEJ a legend. I hear everywhere you go these days, people are giving Pres. Jonathan a standing ovation. He's taught all our politicians that politics is not a do-or-die thing...and if you get beat, you step the heck down.

Ever Turned Down An "Ugly" Babe And Years Later, You Discover She Already An Angel?

We guys can be so funny at times and i believe that this might have happened to us in one way or the other.

Simply because a lady is not that good looking or she hasn't gotten those feminine qualities(the boobs and ass) we will turn them down despite their non-blinking green lights towards us, we will classify them as being too ugly or not up to our standard. And as we all know that what goes around must surely come around, years later when we come across those ladies we turned down those days, we will now begin to regret our actions and start making efforts to get them back but to no avail! man go come be the ones showing them halogens green light but itz already too late. . .

share your experience, letz have fun cheesy

How Can He Improve On His Poor Grades In The University?

I am a student of a state university I am in my third year now.

Again in my second year same thing happened I don't know if its the way I study

I even get mocked by my friends whu don't even study as much as I do. I actually get depressed and sometime think of committing SUICIDE.

Sometimes I will leave my place of residence for the library for almost 6-8 hrs just for good grade but it will turnout the opposite.

I am in my third year and with exams fast approaching I will not like what has happened in the past happen again

Please I will like u to suggest ways IN WHICH I can read as well as retain as well as recall during exam

Photo: Pastor arrested for stealing from various churches in Lagos

45 year pastor Tope Kolawole pictured above has been arrested by the Lagos state Police command after a failed attempt to rob a church in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos state on March 31st.

According to the Lagos state Police command spokesperson, Kenneth Nwosu, the suspect, Pastor Tope, who until his arrest specialized in breaking into churches and stealing music instruments, wall clocks, offering and tithe, had gone to the said church where he robbed them of their amplifier, two music mixers, one keyboard, one stabiliser, two DVD players and one Samsung plasma 32 inches television and was about to run away with the stolen item when he was nabbed.

Confessing to the crime, Pastor Kolawole said

“I specialise in stealing from churches. I steal music instruments. I have a receiver and buyer known as Alausa. Without him, I would not have gone to churches to steal. When he heard that I have been arrested, he went into hiding. I steal in the churches I worship to avoid suspicion. I have been succeeding except this one. I was remanded in Kirikiri prison by Task Force from Alausa for hawking on the highway. I am a qualified pastor because I went to theological school and was ordained pastor in 2008 at Ile-Ife by Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) but I worship at Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at any of their parishes. It is the devil that caused my frustration that made me to steal in the house of God. My wife Bunmi is a nurse with children. I live in Sango and go to Lagos to operate because Ogun is good for hiding after operation. It was what the Task Force did to me that made me to become a thief because they made me lose everything I had got in 10 years. I used to gather items at about 10:30pm and by 5am, I go to nearby road to look for taxi to take me to Oshodi. Where the taxi driver is in doubt, I call Alausa who claims to be the General Overseer of a particular church I once stole from. He is the one that pays the taxi driver once I deliver the goods. I am now a born again; if I am released, I will open a church and appoint those suspects elders of my church. We will not rob again but work for God.”he told The Nation

Continue below to see his tweets. Please start reading from down upwards. Really feel for him!

Kunle Afolayan comes for Igbos, blames them solely for piracy in Nigeria

That's the bad thing about people in authority bashing a particular tribe, ethnic/religious group, others will think it's okay to do same. Respected Nollywood film maker and actor Kunle Afolayan took to twitter a few hours ago to blame the 'Igbos' for piracy in Nigeria. He even went as far as saying 'may God strike all of you'. Sad! After some Nigerians dragged him over hot coals, he apologized. See the tweets after the cut...

“God Owns Lagos, Entire Universe” – PDP Blasts Oba Of Lagos

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned in the strongest possible terms what it described as “the emerging height of political recklessness in Lagos and Ekiti states ahead of Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections and calls on all Nigerians to stand up against such anti-democratic tendencies”.

A statement on Monday by Olisa Metuh, PDP National Publicity Secretary, said the senseless and unpatriotic impeachment move against Governor Ayo Fayose by out-going APC state legislators and the barbaric death threats on non-indigenes in Lagos by the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu if they voted for the PDP candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, ascended to a height of unruliness that should not be accommodated.

Continuing he said, “The PDP totally and unequivocally rejects the flimsy and unsubstantiated allegations concocted by the APC legislators against Governor Fayose. We state in very clear terms that we will stand with him and bear our full weight in defense of the mandate freely given to him by the people of Ekiti state.

“We invite all lovers of democracy and the international community to note the antics of APC and the deliberate plot to destabilize the polity even when it is yet to assume power.

“In the same vein, it is indeed most unfortunate that a royal father of the status of the Oba of Lagos should attempt to drag the revered traditional institution into partisan politics to the level of threatening innocent Nigerians with the view to prevent them from freely exercising their constitutionally guaranteed right.

“Our response to the Oba of Lagos is that he cannot play God and can never be God. God owns the universe and every part of it and can never share His glory with any human no matter how highly placed. We therefore call on all Nigerians in Lagos state; all Igbos, Hausas, Yorubas and people of other tribes; all northerners and southerners; all Christians and Muslims to turn against this unpatriotic stance, by coming out enmasse to vote for the PDP candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje on Saturday.

“Undoubtedly, this anti-Nigeria position reminds of the 2013 inhuman and callous arrest, detention and eventual ‘deportation’ of non-indigenes by the APC-led government of Lagos state and confirms fears that the APC is indeed on a mission to destroy our national unity, balkanize the nation and obliterate the personal freedom Nigerians enjoy today.

“Already, the APC has started terrorizing supporters of the PDP with vows to make life unbearable for them when it eventually assumes power. Our investigation reveals that many of our prominent supporters have been marked. The process has already started with threats to the life, family and business of the Chairman of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah for supporting PDP candidates and helping non-indigenes win some Lagos seats in the National Assembly on the platform of the our great party.

“Indeed, if this threats on a duly elected state governor and innocent Nigerians constitute the picture or foretaste of the order of the day when the APC finally assumes power at the center, then the nation is in serious danger. However, the PDP states in very unambiguous terms that Nigerians would not accept such under any guise whatsoever.

“This is more so because in the last 16 years, our citizens from all walks of lives have seen civility and decorum under the PDP-led administration and would not accept any attempt by anybody to institute a reign of terror in the country

“We therefore urge General Muhammadu Buhari as the leader of the APC to call his members and supporters, particularly in Lagos and Ekiti to order; especially bearing in mind that it was the peaceful atmosphere and the level playing ground nurtured by the PDP-led administration that created the room for his emergence at the presidential polls. Our country cannot at this moment afford to slide into anarchy, reign of terror and deliberate schemes to divide the the people for selfish political reasons.

“The PDP will completely resist all anti democratic forces from any quarters. We therefore charge Nigerians, especially those in Lagos and Ekiti states respectively to stand up fearlessly and reject the unpatriotic stance of the Oba of Lagos and the undemocratic move to dismantle the mandate given to Governor Ayo Fayose by the people”.

“Every Ethnic Group Safe Under Me” - Ambode Disowns 'Die In The Lagoon' Speech

The governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Lagos, Akinwumi Ambode, on Monday said if elected, he would promote the interest of every ethnic groups within the state.

Mr. Ambode, the Lagos APC and the Oba of Lagos, Riliwan Akiolu, have come under fire from Nigerians following a report credited to the Oba that Igbos in Lagos would perish in the lagoon should they fail to vote for Mr. Ambode, his choice for Lagos governorship.

Mr. Ambode is facing stiff opposition from the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Jimi Agbaje, whose party performed well at the March 28 presidential and national assembly elections.

In the heat of hate speech allegation, Mr Ambode, in a statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES Monday afternoon said every group and ethnic is important to build Lagos.

‎”Every group in Lagos will be safe in my hands as governor,” Mr. Ambode said. “I will not discriminate against any religious or ethnic group. It is our Lagos and we must build it together,” he said.

The former Lagos state accountant-general added that he would be a governor for all.

“In my acceptance speech after the primaries I made this note that I will be a governor for all and Lagos is safe in my hands. I want to build on the foundation of unity, peace and progress and development laid by my predecessors.

“And though tongue and tribe may differ, we stand in brotherhood in Lagos from the smallest ethnic groups to the major ones. We are all stakeholders,” the APC candidate said.

Alleged Anti-Igbo Comment: Catholic Church Group Tackles Oba Akiolu

The Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria has issued a statement, condemning the alleged anti-Igbo statement made by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, when Igbo leaders in Lagos visited him on Sunday.

Read full statement below:

PRESS STATEMENT REACTING TO OBA AKIOLU’S CURSE ON THE IGBOS IN

LAGOS

“At the national offices of Caritas Nigeria and Justice Development and Peace Commission, we are totally shocked to read about the threat handed down by Oba Akiolu to the Igbos in Lagos. While it is understandable that a Royal Father would want for his wishes to be carried out, we are deeply concerned that the royal father is missing the point that Nigeria is a republic and a democracy and not a monarchy.

“We understand the genuine fear of the great Oba of losing Lagos to strangers. But Lagos has been one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Africa for decades and any citizen contributing to its economy and politics can be a bonafide resident. As such, the upstages as happened in the last elections are to be expected. Nevertheless natives and non-native residents should feel free to negotiate and clarify expectations but not in the threatening and intimidating manner the revered Oba has lashed out.

“We have just a few interrogations: why single out a particular ethnic group for this curse? Does it mean a Yoruba or Hausa person living in Lagos who votes for Jimi Agbaje will go scotfree but any Igbo who votes for Agbaje will drown in the Lagoon?

“Does it mean that people should vote out of fear and not their consciences? Would such an election be free and fair, where people have to vote out of intimidation?

Does not the threat of the Oba Akiolu amount to voter intimidation?

“We humbly call on the Oba himself to withdraw his curse and rather appeal to the people, for indeed such a threat may amount to playing God and God who is a merciful father will not allow his children to die so senselessly just because they were fulfilling the dictates of their conscience. The fact that APC is government at the centre is a strong factor to employ and appeal to people to vote APC rather than invoking ancestral powers for destruction. Why is it that in Africa we usually invoke our powers for destruction and not for building-up?”

Tinubu Kicks As Obasanjo Suggests Soludo To Buhari As Finance Minister - Daily Post

Following the victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the presidential elections, internal politicking over the formation of the cabinet of president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has started in earnest.

Although, some individuals have been penciled down for certain offices, selection of those to fill the coveted “juicy” positions may not be an easy task as powerful party members and others who gave Buhari support from outside the APC are pushing one or two nominees they believe can do a good job.

DAILY POST on Monday gathered that former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo may have been presented by former president Olusegun Obasanjo as the possible Minister of Finance for the Buhari administration.

Soludo was a member of the economic team for the Obasanjo administration prior to becoming the governor of the CBN.

Soludo’s presentation to the incoming administration as candidate for Minister of Finance is reportedly causing disquiet within the inner circles of the party, 247ureports said.

Many APC chieftains are said to be against his candidature on two grounds. One is that Soludo remains a card carrying member of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and his appointment would been as taking from Peter to pay Paul.

The other is that it was under Soludo that the banking sector almost collapsed, a situation confirmed by former CBN chief and Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, a staunch supporter of the APC.

It was also under Sanusi that the banking industry went through a recapitalisation process that led to the reduction in the number of banks from 50 to 25.

His clean up also witnessed the prosecution of bank Chief Executive Officers who were discovered to have robbed their own banks by almost unilaterally awarding contracts to phoney organisations and companies they either own or had substantial omnterest in.

DAILY POST gathered that former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, is strongly against Obasanjo’s recommendation.

Sources say he had in fact reached an agreement with Buhari prior to the APC presidential primaries concerning appointment into ministerial positions.

Tinubu, it was learnt, extracted an agreement from Buhari, to which the president-elect appended his signature.

According to the agreement, Tinubu will provide names for nine ministerial positions.

Some of the positions are said to include Petroleum, Finance, Works, Federal Capital Territory and Interior.

It is to this end that the camp of the party’s co-founder, Tinubu, frowns at the presentation of Soludo as Minister of Finance.

Soludo, who is keen on returning to government, is reported to have been convinced by Obasanjo to accept the position.

It is however left to be seen if Buhari will oblige Obasanjo’s request or stick to his agreement with Tinubu.

Obasanjo played a key role in Buhari’s emergence as APC presidential flagbearer and his eventual victory at the polls, thus, his words would not be discarded with a mere wave of the hand.

Soludo had been heavily critical of the economic policies of the Jonathan administration.

The most critical was in the build up to the general election where he alleged that the current adminstration mismanaged over N20 trillion of Nigeria’s money.

His criticisms, which were published in major newspapers and websites, unsettled the Jonathan administration with the Minister of Finance, Nigozi Okonjo-Iweala, taking on Soludo in more than one rejoinders.

Soludo faced a legal battle spearheaded by the the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), when he was, in 2012, accused of taking kickbacks from the company that handled the production of polymer notes he introduced during his tenure as CBN Governor.

The case was used to cast a dent on his Anambra gubernatorial aspiration which he lost.

Soludo was in February 2015 cleared of all the charges.

Amber Rose poured her heart out on instagram a few days ago, saying she wanted to get back with her estranged husband and it looks like her dreams are coming through. According to TMZ, she spent Easter with Wiz Khalifa and their 2-year-old Sebastian.

"Amber, Wiz and Sebastian arrived in the same ride for Tamar Braxton's big Easter party in Calabasas. People at the party tell us ... Wiz and Amber were affectionate with each other -- at times hugging -- and very playful. At times they walked away from the crowd to spend time with each other." TMZ reports

See How Fani-Kayode Reacted To Oba Of Lagos Alleged Threat To Igbos In Lagos

He shared his thought on the alleged threat on his Facebook wall

The Oba of Lagos' threat against the Igbos in Lagos that if they do not vote for the APC in the governorship elections on Saturday they should be ready for the consequences and that if they don't vote for Ambode they should be ready to perish in the lagoon is ominous and unacceptable.

The truth is that we were threatened with ethnic cleansing and religious carnage in the north had Buhari not won the election on march 28th and had Jonathan not quickly conceded defeat and now our traditional supporters are being threatened in Lagos and in many other states.

Let two things be clearly understood. In as much as we all want peace in this country and in as much as Jonathan has graciously and quickly conceded defeat in the Presidential election, this does not mean that we are weak or powerless.

Let it be clearly understood by all and sundry that any attempt to kill or molest our supporters in the north, in the west or indeed in any other part of the country either before, during or after saturday's governorship elections or any attempt at ethnic or religious cleansing by the APC, their supporters or their friends and agents will be deemed unacceptable and will be met with defiance, contempt and resistance.

Enough of all these APC threats and all this rubbish. No-one is intimidated on our side and neither do we fear for the future because God is with us, He is faithful and He is in control. We want peace and we want harmony in this country but no-one or no group of people will be allowed to turn us or our supporters into slaves or give us sleepless nights.

The APC would do well to remember that they only won the presidential election by 2 million votes. The PDP got 12 million votes in that election which means that we have 12 million loyal foot soldiers and supporters in this country and that is no mean feat.

We are a strong party, we are confident for the future, we are ready for anything and most important of all we are ready for the polls on saturday. We take this opportunity to urge the PDP faithful in Lagos to go out and vote en masse for the PDP.

We urge them to vote for Jimi Agbaje and to free Lagos state from the shackles of darkness and oppression. We urge them to stand firm, to hold their heads up high and to do their very best. We urge our supporters in Rivers state, Oyo state, Imo state, Plateau state, Kaduna state and indeed in all the states where elections will take place on saturday to do the same, to take the destiny of their respective states into their hands and to vote for the PDP candidates in the various elections.

What happened during the presidential election on March 28th was sad and unfortunate but we have accepted defeat and we wholeheartedly accept the will of the people of Nigeria. That does not however mean that we should close shop and not put up a good fight for Saturdays governorship elections.

This is the time to call on the party faithful to rise up. This is the time to rally our troops and to call on our footsoldiers and loyalists to come out in their millions and wipe away the sadness of march 28th by winning massively in saturdays governorship elections.

This is the time to prove to our detractors that despite their provocative utterances, their empty and boastful threats, their mocking words and their gratutious insults that the PDP is far from dead and is still very much alive.

Our party shall go from strength to strength despite the monumental challenges that lie ahead. Whether we win or lose on saturday is not the issue. The issue is that whatever anyone may say and whatever they may feel, the PDP is not going anywhere and neither shall we crumble and fade away. We are here for the long haul: we are here to stay.

Fani-Kayode reacts to Oba of Lagos alleged threat to Igbos, says its ominious and unacceptable

We are a strong party, we are confident for the future, we are ready for anything and most important of all we are ready for the polls on saturday .

What Buhari Needs To Succeed – Jonathan

President-elect retired General Muhammadu

Buhari succeed.

Jonathan spoke at the Presidential Villa, Abuja

yesterday when he received a delegation of the

Federal Capital Territory residents led by his vice,

Mohammed Namadi Sambo, who paid him Easter

homage.

The president described Easter, as a period of

sacrifice.

He said: “Whenever we talk about this period, the

key lesson there is sacrifice. Somebody sacrificed

for our own salvation.

“Now, Buhari is coming on board; it is not about

supporting Buhari or government, but what

sacrifice, as individuals, are you willing to make

for government and for the nation?”

He asked whether Nigerians would be ready to

make the sacrifice of backing Buhari if he should

increase Value Added Tax (VAT) from five to 10

percent.

There is already a proposal in the medium term

expenditure framework now before the National

Assembly to increase VAT from five percent.

The President said: “In the ECOWAS sub-region

for example, Nigeria has the lowest VAT, other

countries pay up to 12 percent.

“If for instance, Buhari decides to increase VAT

from 5 to 10 percent, will Nigerians support him?

That is sacrifice, and we must make sacrifice.”

The president maintained that no government

would survive if the citizens, especially

businessmen, refuse to pay tax.

“If you are a businessman and you say you are

supporting government, but you don’t pay tax;

how do you expect that government to survive?

That government will not survive,” he said.

He recalled that as a deputy governor in Bayelsa

State his people used to come to him to pledge

their loyalty. He said he often responded, “Don’t

tell me you are loyal; tell me you are patriotic to

the country and that you believe in Bayelsa State.

“To me, whenever I travel to different countries

and see things work, those things didn’t fall down

as many people made sacrifice.

“Therefore, in Nigeria, people must also be ready

to make the required sacrifice. Whoever becomes

president is immaterial so long as the citizens are

happy; our children go to school, when they are

sick, they go to good hospital and of course, the

economy blossoms.

“Nation building depends on the sacrifices of

individuals and the patriotism of the citizens.

These are two key elements.

“We are talking about Boko Haram or terror;

soldiers are dying for us to live, police are dying

for us to live. That is sacrifice. As individuals, you

don’t need to die, but there are various roles you

need to play. You must make sacrifice.

“The economy of China was threatened, but they

locked up themselves for a period of time. And by

the time they opened their doors, they become

even a threat to the biggest economy.

“Are we ready for that kind of sacrifice for the

government? Whenever we talk of Easter, these

are the key lessons of sacrifice”, Jonathan said.

The president reminisced about his years of

service from being the deputy governor of Bayelsa

State to being the nation’s number one citizen

and said: “I think it is enough”.

The president said since 1999, he had been in a

cage “being taken care of by the government”.

“For me as an individual, this Easter coincides

with the time I’m leaving. But I always say that

I’m one of the luckiest Nigerians. I’m yet to see

somebody luckier than me. From 1999, I was in

the hands of government for 16 years.

“I was in a cage, being taken care of by the

government. From May 29, 1999 to date; 16 good

years! I think it is enough and I am happy. Help

me to thank God for that ...Today is a glorious

day for me.”

Those in the delegation were Secretary to the

Government of the Federation Anyim Pius Anyim;

Chief of Staff Jones Arogbofa; Head of Service

Danladi Kifasi; Archbishop of the Anglican Church

of Nigeria Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh; Catholic

Archbishop of Abuja Cardinal John Onaiyekan;

Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian

Pilgrims Commission John Kennedy-Opara; Chief

Imam of the National Mosque Alhaji Muhammed

Musa, among others.

The Palace makes further clarification on the statement by the Oba of Lagos

Statement from the Oba of Lagos palace regarding a comment attributed to him allegedly threatening the Igbos if they don't vote for Ambode this Saturday. Read below...

My attention has been drawn to a publication in a national newspaper where HRM Oba Riliwanu Akinolu was alleged to have threatened Igbos in Lagos to make them vote for Ambode.

Last Sunday, all honorary Eze Ndigbos in Lagos paid a courtesy call to HRM Oba Akinolu. At the meeting the visitors praised the Oba for his fatherly support for and cooperation with Igbos in. Lagos. They assured him of their continued good neighborliness with other tribes in Lagos and support everything that’ll further strengthen that harmony.

Oba Akiolu on his part acknowledged the enviable performance of Governor Fashola and his contribution to the growth of investments in Lagos. He gave the assurance that he is not disturbed or angry with South-East and South- South votes for President Jonathan as perceived by the Eze Ndigbos. The Obas thereafter called on the Igbos chiefs to show appreciation to Lagos State by supporting his candidate Mr. Ambode for continuity of excellence as they have earlier promised.

He assured them of his continued support‎ and assistance where needed and the meeting ended with the traditional breaking of kolas, alligator pepper, and bitter kola and pouring of liberation on the ground. It was within this context that that the tradition of Lagos with regard to the lagoon came up. It was noted that whoever works against the throne and the interest and peaceful co-existence of Lagos would end up in the lagoon as per tradition.

2.Oba Akiolu stated further that the Igbo people have not betrayed the throne. Lagos has also not betrayed the Igbo people. Lagos has done so much to make the Igbos comfortable and to prosper. For this, we expect reciprocal respect and understanding. The Oba of Lagos prays that the Lagoon and the throne will continue to bless and protect all those who reside and visit Lagos.

3. Oba Akiolu is the father of all irrespective of tribe, religion or political persuasion. In Lagos, we have an old traditional proverb that relates to the Lagoon. The Lagoon is unique to Lagos. The proverb stresses the need for unity and understanding when you do business in an environment and in this case when you live and do business in Lagos.

Oba Akiolu prays for peace for the land of Lagos and prosperity for all its inhabitants.

"Those That Surround Buhari Are Like Ali Baba And 40 Thieves" - Pastor Bakare

General Overseer, Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has warned the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to be cautious about appointing those who are to constitute his government.

tunde-bakareBakare, made this statement at the 26th anniversary of his church, tagged, ‘Democracy audit: chances, choices and consequences.”, stressing that the wasted years in Nigeria can only be restored if Buhari surrounds himself with men and women of goodwill, great intellectual capacity, competence and character.

He further advised Buhari to start the fight against corruption from his circle and lay a good example, saying change cannot be achieved if these were not done.

“I pray sincerely that not all those who facilitated his winning the election will be among those who run the government. I did say before the election that I trust the person of General Buhari but not all those around him.

“I mean every word of it because many of them are nothing but Ali Baba and 40 thieves. And if these are the same who would go into government, you can’t fight evil with evil. You can as well kiss the anti-corruption stance of Mr. President-elect goodbye.” He explained.

Bakare prayed for Buhari to have the needed wisdom and strength, noting that people were already submitting applications to him to serve in the incoming administration.

“The vultures are now going round and round. If he does not have quality people around him, then they will put round pegs in square holes and within two years, we are back to square one.”

In addition, the cleric commended the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega for his leadership despite in the face of grave accusation and provocation by critics.

He also praised President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat timely, and stated that the president had written his name in gold just with that remarkable democratic act.
