United State Condemn The Just Occur Bomb Blasts In Jos,Zaria

The United States on Thursday condemned the recent bomb attacks that have taken hundreds of lives in churches, mosques and a local government office.

The United States Deputy Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, who spoke at a press briefing, said defeating Boko Haram requires a comprehensive approach that involves the region and includes, not only a strong military response, but also sustainable security for liberated areas, good governance, development, and opportunity for the civilian population.

Mr. Blinken noted that it requires a strong commitment to human rights, the absence of which only alienates the people and drives them toward Boko Haram.

“As Nigeria develops this comprehensive approach, the United States will deepen our support”, he said.

Mr. Blinken, who had earlier visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja, explained his presence here in Nigeria was to help prepare the president for his visit to Washington on July 20.

“We look forward to welcoming President Buhari to Washington in just a week and we will continue to deepen a relationship that reflects the enduring commitment of the United States to Nigeria and its people”, he said.

He added that his presence also reflects the commitment of President Barack Obama and the United States to strengthening the partnership between the United States and Nigeria and to advance a more secure, prosperous, and peaceful future for all of Nigeria’s citizens.

“The partnership we are forging is based on mutual interests and mutual respect”, he said.

The deputy secretary of state further explained that the relationship is defined not by what the United States can do for Nigeria, but rather what the United States can do with Nigeria.

“We are proud to stand alongside the new government as it works to turn the promise of this moment into real progress for all the citizens of Nigeria”, he said.

Mr. Blinken said as the present government makes transparency and anti-corruption a priority, there is a vital and unique role for citizens and civil society to play

Nigerian Taxi Driver Suspended For Insulting Gay Passengers Kissing In His Cab

A Nigerian man living in Calgary as a taxi driver has had his licence suspended for one month after a gay man complained the cabbie called him “disgusting” for kissing another man.

According to reporters, he and his friend were at Nashville North, and left Stampede grounds around 11 p.m. to head to the city’s northwest in a Calgary United Cab. He said they mostly talked throughout the ride, but after he kissed his friend in what he called a “very simple peck on the mouth,” the cab driver, Stephen Eze became upset.
“The cab driver said, ‘No, you can’t do that in my cab.’ And my friend said, ‘Excuse me?’
“He said, ‘No two men cannot be kissing in my cab. It’s disgusting.’ He said if we did it again, he would kick us out of the cab.”
Hill said his friend became visibly upset, and the two asked to be let out at the next exit instead of their original destination. Hill said when his friend told the driver they wouldn’t pay because of what happened, he started to drive away.
“He refused to let us out without paying, which was the scariest part,” said Hill. “So I said, ‘We’ll pay.’
We paid. We got out of the cab, and went to find a different cab. The driver got out and was yelling at the next driver we were approaching that ‘these men were kissing.’”

Hill said his friend was so upset, he threw a toonie on the dashboard at the end of the ride. He said that caused the driver to yell out that he’d been assaulted.
Nolan Hill reported the incident to 311 and turned to social media with a Facebook post that read:

“I was just kicked out of a taxi and told that I was disgusting for kissing another man. I have lived in Calgary my whole life, and have never been disrespected as much as I was tonight,

Drakes Now Follows Wizkid Via Instagram

I guess this is a sign that Wizkid is really going places, but the question tho is, HOW WILL CHRIS BROWN TAKE THIS?? Considering that Wizkid and Chris Brown have become real close over time.

Anyways, after snagging collaborations with Angelique Kidjo and Chris Brown, one of the world’s current best rappers, Drake, now has his sights on the pop singer from Ojuelegba.

Three days ago Drake, who is currently in London for Wimbledon, quoted a line from Wizkid’s smash hit ‘Ojuelegba‘.

In the Instagram picture above Drake can be seen with Skepta, one of the biggest rappers in the United Kingdom right now.

Skepta whose real names are Joseph Adenuga is of Nigerian origin.

Yesterday, the former EME act re-tweeted a snap shot of his Instagram notification which shows that Drake (whose handle on IG is Champagne Papi) is now following him.

Word on the street is that Wizkid’s third album will be out in September, will the album have Drake on it?

President Buhari rejects N400m armoured cars.

null

President Muhammadu Buhari has turned down an offer by the Federal Government to buy 5 new armoured Mercedes Benz S-600 (V222) cars for his use. The cars which cost is about N400m were planned to be purchased by the State House.

A source close to the presidency told journalists on Thursday that Buhari found out about the plan when the Permanent Secretary, State House, Mr. Nebolisa Emodi, briefed him of his ministry’s activities on Wednesday.

Angry at the revelation, the President was said to have told Emodi that the purchase was unnecessary. Describing it as a waste of scarce resources, the source said Buhari told the permanent secretary that the cars he inherited from former President Goodluck Jonathan were good enough for him.
“I don’t need any new cars. The ones I am using now are just fine,” the source quoted the President as saying.
Top government officials, however, said Buhari welcomed other initiatives presented by the permanent secretary to reduce the operating costs of the State House and strengthen its Finance and Accounts Internal Control Mechanisms.

However he directed that more efforts be made towards the capture of all State House expenses within the approved national budget, in order to avoid the frequent recourse by past administrations to “Presidential intervention funds.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, confirmed that Buhari had withheld approval for the purchase of the new cars. Shehu said the President would continue to use the cars left behind by Jonathan in keeping with his commitment to prudent management of national resources.
