I Will Crush Boko Haram To The Last Man – President Buhari

Enraged by the latest attacks on Borno and Yobe by Boko Haram, President Muhammadu Buhari has once again vowed to crush members of the terrorists to the last man.

In what appears to be his toughest expressions of outrage, President Buhari reminded the terrorists of his uncompromising resolve to tackle them with all the resources at the disposal of his government.

“They are cowards who lack any moral inhibition and any iota of humanity to reason compassionately,” Buhari said, adding that they would not find a safe haven in Nigeria because “they would be “hunted down without mercy and compromise.”

In a statement issued by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Mal. Garba Shehu, the president “condemned in the strongest language” the latest terrorist attacks.

He said Buhari extended his sympathy to the families of the victims and reassured all Nigerians that his government “would never tolerate the terrorists’ blackmail, and our security forces would confront the Boko Haram bandits to the last man.

“Make no mistake about it: this government is ever determined to discharge its fundamental duty of protecting the life of its citizens from physical threats from any groups bent on creating chaos, confusion, and on destroying social and economic life of the people.”

Buhari said he was deeply touched by these mindless incidents of violence on innocent people during the month of Ramadan and declared the terrorists enemies of humanity everywhere.

“No sane people who believes in any god would be destroying the lives of innocent people in cold blood,” he said, adding that terrorists do not represent any religion.

“The president said the pattern of their indiscriminate violence against innocent people shows that they represent nothing else but anarchy and devilry.

“The terrorists are enemies of religion and humanity. No true believers in any God would target worshipers, holy places, or people who are fasting and other innocent Nigerians,” he declared

I Have No House Anywhere Outside Nigeria – DANGOTE

It’s people who are broke that are moved by money and they always want to spent to show off. If you are a truly wealthy man, at heart or in your bank accounts, you will just see yourself living a simple life.

Africa’s richest man and foremost business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has disclosed that despite his huge wealth, he has no residential property outside his fatherland, Nigeria.

Dangote, whose 2015 net worth was put at $21.6billion, according to Forbes, also revealed how the late Chief M. K. O. Abiola discouraged him from investing in the media.

He said, “Somebody asked me, how many houses do you have abroad? I said, well, to tell you the good news, I don’t even have a nine-inch block outside Nigeria, and that is the truth; I don’t have a house anywhere abroad.”

He stated this during an interactive meeting with senior media executives in Lagos at the weekend.

Dangote also recalled a meeting with the late Abiola at his Ikeja, Lagos residence where the latter told him about the dangers of mixing media interests with other business interests.

He said, “I went to see Abiola and I said to him, you look a bit worried. And he said he could not sleep because of a publication…How many times will I be chasing reporters and running my business. Let me advise you, don’t go and do this newspaper business.”
Dangote did not, however, foreclose future investment in the media but said he was being cautious in view of his other business interests. “You must think twice before going into it,” he said.

“When people realise that the paper is not balanced – you are always pro-government, it is a challenge. The worst tag a paper can have is to be marked a government paper. The general feeling is that they are eating from the government. So that is why I run away from the media. I am not saying I won’t do it.”

President Buhari Orders Arrest of His Wife’s Younger Brother over Fraud

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered Nigeria’s security agents to arrest his brother-in-law for allegedly extorting money from an unnamed businessman, a close confidante of the Nigerian leader told SR. He said the suspect, named Musa Yola, was the immediate younger brother of Buhari’s wife.

The source disclosed that Musa Yola, also addressed as “Alhaji Yola,” reportedly received N300m from a businessman after promising to provide his dupe with political access to secure an oil block from the Buhari administration.

According to our source, Buhari personally ordered last Monday night that Yola be produced before him in handcuffs in the company of the businessman he duped.

After telling the businessman that he was stupid to part with such significant cash when he should know that he, Buhari, would not participate in fraud, the President ordered agents of the State Security Services (SSS) attached to Aso Rock Villa to thoroughly investigate the scam.

He also ordered SSS to ensure that the businessman recovered his money from his brother-in-law.

An SSS source told Sahara Reporters, “Alhaji Yola has refunded the money to the affected businessman,” and added that: “Alhaji Yola has been released on bail.”

Buhari Is Not Slow, He Is Planning Carefully To Ensure Nigerians Enjoy The Dividends Of Democracy – Presidency

President Muhammadu Buhari has spent 30 days in office, but not much can be said about the actions he has taken to show the direction hie government would tend towards, but there is an explanation for this.

According to the Presidency, the seeming slow pace of governance by ‎the Buhari administration is because the great accumulation of corruption being cleared by the administration requires “scrupulous and painstaking planning”.

This came in reaction to a statement by the publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party criticising the Buhari administration.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said the call by the PDP that Nigerians should join hands in praying for the administration was unnecessary because Nigerians were already in sync with the administration.

“It is amusing to read what the National Publicity Secretary of the defeated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, considers a 30 days appraisal of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. He wants Nigerians to join hands in prayers for the government, so that things would begin to move. What he does not know is that Nigerians had long formed such coalition. They are hands in hands, and that was what gave victory to President Buhari in the March 28, 2015 poll. They had teamed up to uproot an administration that had brought the country to her knees, and was about to tip her off the precipice.

“And Nigerians have resolved that never would they allow any government to divide them along regional, religious and ethnic fault lines again.

“The Buhari administration is naturally contemplative because there was absolutely no rhyme or reason to the way PDP ran the country, particularly in the immediate past dispensation. That is why the Augean Stable is being cleaned now, and it requires scrupulous and painstaking planning. Across all sectors, our national life was devalued, and it takes meticulousness and sure-footedness to repair all the breaches. This, the Buhari administration will deliver.

“Metuh talks of people round the President conniving with bureaucrats to siphon money from the treasury. This must be deja vu, as it was the pastime of the immediate past administration, and the enormity of the sleaze will be evident when stolen money, to the tune of billions of dollars, is recovered, and returned to the national treasury soon.

“In the process of time, after all that is being planned by the current administration has matured, and bearing fruits, Nigerians will be able to determine who is serving them acceptably, and who has taken them for a ride. It is just a matter of time.

“Meanwhile, Metuh and his masters can only rue the missed opportunities to make salutary impact on the lives of Nigerians. They have a long road of regrets to travel,” Adesina said.

Civil Servants Call On EFCC To Probe Aregbesola, Others Over Non-payment Of Salaries

null

The Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate both former and serving governors who they alleged squandered the states’ resources on frivolities but abandoned payment of workers salaries.

The union alleged that some of the governors used state funds to finance campaigns during the elections, while the workforce was being owed salary for many months.

In a communique issued at the end of a one-day meeting in Abuja, jointly signed by its President Comrade Kiri Mohammed and Ag. General Secretary, comrade Felix C. Ifoh, the group described the situation where some states and Local Governments ‎cannot pay workers salaries, allowances and other mandatory deductions for many months due to corruption, as unfortunate.

The group therefore said it was high time the EFCC beamed its searchlight into the activities of the affected governors to ascertain how they managed the state’s resources

Davido In NDLEA Trouble Over ‘Fans Mi’ Video Feauturing Meek Mill

We are investigating him, says agency
Multiple award winner and international act, Davido, is in trouble with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency over his new song/video titled ‘Fans mi.’ NDLEA is currentlyinvestigating Davido (real name DavidAdeleke) for showcasing hard drugs in the video featuring Maybach Group artist,Meek Mill. In the video, which has gone viral since it was released earlier this month, Davido is seen discussing with an unidentified man as they haggle over a briefcase of dollars and a bag full of parcels of hard drugs. There are also lewd scenes in the
video.

The song is supposed to promote the Omo Baba Olowo crooner’s gratitude and appreciation to his fans for their love and support towards his career over the years.

However, the singer was busy singing about his enemies and money, showcasing hard drugs, Unclothedness and guns in the video.

Some fans have expressed dissatisfaction over the song/ video, claiming the talented singer should have done better by showing pictures of his fans, his past shows and
encounters with fans, rather than the display of hard drugs, Unclothedness and guns. In an emailed comment to Sunday Telegraph, NDLEA’s Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said,
“The agency considers the musical video ‘Fans Mi’ inappropriate and indecent. It has the tendency to negatively influence and induce drug use and trafficking. Besides, it is counter-productive on the campaign against drug production, trafficking and abuse. The agency is investigating the matter and will take necessary action.”
Also speaking, popular music video critics, Mrs. Nuella O’Peters, said, “It’s really outrageous seeing a brand ambassador and a mentor to millions of African youths indulging in such acts. He even went as far as using the substance for cooking in the video. Can you imagine! It’s uncalled for.

I do hope the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation will do something about the video.” Davido is a song writer, performer and a recording artiste from Nigeria.

I Didn’t Make a Deal With PDP – Saraki Speaks

null

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has revealed the drama that preceded his election as the eight senate leader, saying there was a plot to abduct him a day before the election, while denying reports that he made a deal with the opposition to make Ike Ekweremadu his deputy.

In an interview session with journalists on Saturday, June 27, Saraki revealed that after he had gotten wind of the abduction plot, he changed his itinerary by arriving the parliamentary car park at 6am on Senate inauguration day, June 9.

He said he stayed in his car until 10am, and then walked into the chamber.

Saraki also refuted the rumour that the price he paid for his victory was for the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Senator Ike Ekweremadu to return as the deputy Senate President, noting that the absence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senators in the chamber paved the way for Ekweremadu’s emergence.

“Never in our wildest imagination did we envisage that some senators would not be present on the day of the inauguration,” he said.

Speaking further, Saraki explained, “first of all, as regards the meeting (at ICC), on the morning of the inauguration, I didn’t finish at a meeting until 4:00am of that day and I had got information that efforts would likely be made to make sure that I didn’t get access into the chamber.

“So, as early as 4:00am and 5:00am, I had made contingency plans that I must get into the National Assembly because the plan before was that senators-elect should go to Transcorp Hilton Hotel around 8:00clock and 9:00am to proceed to the National Assembly.

“But I was advised that it would not be safe or it would not be secure for me to do that because if some people made sure I didn’t get into the chamber, it would not be possible for me to be nominated, for the nomination to be seconded and for me to accept the nomination.

“I can tell you today that I was in the National Assembly Complex as early as 6:00 in the morning and I stayed in a car in the car park till quarter to 10:00am. That is the truth. I stayed there and I was there with no communication whatsoever.

“So, anybody who said he spoke to me to go to the ICC was not being truthful because I didn’t even know what was going on. All I was monitoring was how people were arriving the complex.

“It was just before 10:00 that I got information that the Clerk to the National Assembly had entered the chamber. So, I got out of the small car I was inside, stretched myself and put on my Babariga because I didn’t have it on before then.

“I walked from the car park into the chamber. That was why some of you would have seen that I looked very tired that morning.

“Even when I was in the chamber, I didn’t know what had transpired earlier. The only thing I observed was that it appeared that some of our senators were not in the chamber, but because the fact that my colleagues arrived in batches, I had the opinion that they were on the way and, by 10:00am, the programme started.

“Before I knew it, my election had come and gone. Even my people were worried; it was only when I got into the chamber that they were relieved.”

On Ekweremadu’s emergency as the Deputy Senate President, Saraki said, “in my own view, and, in the view of some of those who worked closely with me, I worked hard for my election. I had direct contact with every single senator, one on one; weeks leading to the election, I did not rely on anybody. I worked hard; both in our party, the APC and out of it.

“I approached every senator, I talked to them, we built confidence, not only in the APC, but, also, in the PDP. I talked to them. That was why I laughed when people said I had a deal with Ekweremadu or I had a hand in the emergence of Ekweremadu.

“I didn’t need any deal to win. I had penetrated, there was no deal; I didn’t need any deal in the first place. I had worked hard such that everybody who was a Senator, I campaigned hard and canvassed for their votes and won their confidence.

“At one of the meetings held at Transcorp Hilton which Senator Godswill Akpabio co-chaired with Senator Ibrahim Gobir and a few others, which had both APC and PDP members, if you heard most of them there, the position they took was that ‘this is the Senate President they want.’

“Across party lines, that day they believed in me and that this is the Senate President that can lead us, there was no deal.

“Sometimes, I wonder how some of our colleagues found themselves at the ICC. If it had been a case that the Clerk of the National Assembly had made an announcement and the event had been postponed or it was no longer holding, plus, the invitation, I’m sure some are asking now, what really happened?

“First of all, the PDP senators had announced to the public that they were supporting me without even meeting me because, in their own meeting, majority had decided to vote for me.

“In their own interest, strategically, they decided that, `look, this is a fait accompli’ because 30 of their own senators were going to vote for this man anyway and the remaining felt it was better to join.

“It wasn’t until 2:00am that they called us to tell us their decision . With regards to the deputy, when they told us that they had a candidate, we, too, told them we had a candidate for Deputy Senate President in the person of Senator Ali Ndume!

“After our own meeting, it was our thinking that it was after the election of the Senate President that the two groups in APC would meet and we would agree on a candidate. We never in our imagination thought they would not turn up. By the time we got there, we were only 24 while the PDP was more than 40.

“In an election, there’s no way they would not have defeated us and that was what happened? And now, when people say it was a deal, I say that if the CNA had started the procedure in the House of Representatives first, and moved to the Senate, thereafter, today, we, the APC, would have had a deputy Senate President.”

“It is unfortunate that we have a PDP man as deputy Senate President. It is painful. It is painful for every APC member because when we went through the struggle, that was not what we signed for. But it has happened; but it is unfortunate and it is not fair to put the blame on one side because it is a combination of errors and miscalculations that led us to have, that morning, some Senators were at another place instead of being there.

“So, to suggest that it was out of a desperate act to emerge, is what I reject completely and those who followed the events would know that I didn’t have that deal to emerge

Nigeria records highest number of drug related convicts in the World-NDLEA

null

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, announced that Nigeria has the highest number of persons serving jail terms for drug related offences worldwide.

Iweajunwa Okechukwu, the NDLEA commander in the state disclosed this while celebrating the 2015 UN Drug Free Day in Minna on Friday.
“There is no doubt that as a country, the menace of drug abuse and trafficking is one of the biggest problems staring us in the face today.
“All over the world, Nigerians are notorious for drug trafficking. We have the highest number of traffickers serving jail terms more than any other country in the world,’’ he said.

This year’s Drug Free Day is tagged: “Let’s Develop our Lives, our communities and our identities without drugs’’.

Okechukwu said that the recent Indonesian incident involving Nigerians was a pointer to the claim.

He said that in Niger there was a serious issue of drug abuse, especially the prescription drugs and psychotropic substances such as tramadol, rohypnol and diazepam.

According to him, other drugs abused in the state include Librium, cough syrups with codeine, sukudia (suck and die), glue, solutions, petrol, gutter dirt, zakami, lizard dung and cannabis sativa (Indian hemp).
He said that the harmful habit was common among the youths, married women, secondary school students and primary school pupils.

The agency’s commander urged parents, teachers, religious leaders, state government and traditional leaders to see drug abuse as a societal problem that must be tackled by all stakeholders toward minimising it.

Okechukwu advised the people of the state to desist from abusing drugs and report illegal drug dealings to the agency.

FG To Shut Down All Illegal Drugs Dealers…..

null

The federal government will on July 1 commence the implementation of the National Drug Distribution Guidelines (NDDGs), in a move to ensure the organised drug distribution system in the country is strengthened.

Regulatory agencies like the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) and NAFDAC will therefore resume the exercise of their mandate to ensure full compliance on this day.

According to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Linus Awute, there is a need to put an end to the open drug market.

“We are hopeful that the existence of open drug markets in the country will be a thing of the past as the drug distribution system of the country has remained uncoordinated, chaotic and has resulted in the circulation of fake, adulterated, substandard and counterfeit drugs.”

Awute added that the chaotic drug distribution poses a very big challenge to the pharmaceutical sector in particular and the federal
government in general considering the negative impact the situation has on the entire health care delivery system of the country…..

14 million Bank Customers Enrolled For BVN

The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) Plc yesterday said 14 million bank customers nationwide had enrolled for the Bank Verification Number (BVN).

NIBSS BVN’s Project Manager, Mr Seyi Ademosun made this known in Lagos State at the Euro Finance Fifth Conference on Treasury, Risk and Cash Management in West Africa. BVN is for biometric registration of all bank customers in the country which has a deadline of June 30.

Ademosun said 14 million bank customers had enrolled for the BVN launched by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) through the Bankers’ Committee on February 14, 2014.

According to him, the figure would likely hit 20 million before the deadline, noting that banks’ weekly BVN had increased to 900,000 against 400,000 witnessed in the past few months.

The figure released, according to Ademosun, was only for bank customers residing in the country. Nigerians in Diaspora are not included, but plans are on the way for an enrolment of BVN for customers of banks in Diaspora.

Ademosun said that NIBSS would collaborate with an international agency that has operations across the world for the initiative, saying the procedures would be made public when approved by the apex bank.

He said NIBSS had deployed more biometric terminals in all the banks across the country to boost BVN initiative and ensure easy access.

Ademosun, however, called on customers who were yet to embrace the exercise to do so before the June 30 deadline.

FG, States, LGs, Share N409bn For May

The three tiers of government, yesterday, shared a total sum of N409.354 billion for the month of May, a N30.113 billion increase over the N388.339 billion shared in the month of April.

The breakdown shows that N324.061 billion was gotten from statutory allocation, N56.04 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT) N6.330 billion as refund by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to Federal Government, as well as the N31.240 billion exchange gain.

A break-down of the distributions showed that the Federal Government got N151.805 billion from statutory allocation, which represents 52.68 percent, while states and local governments received N76.998 billion and N59.362 billion respectively, representing 26.72 per cent and 20.60 per cent.

The Federal Government received N182 billion from VAT, the states and local governments got N27.274 billion and N19.092 respectively.

Oil producing states shared N29.071 billion as the 13 percent derivation against 23.109 billion shared in the previous month.

Following the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Anastasia Nwaobia, told journalists that the gross revenue of N324.061 billion received for the month was higher than the N282.062 billion received in April by N41.999 billion, due to the improvement from the refund to Federal and the exchange gain added to the revenue.

Nwaobia said Federal Government has taken steps to block all the identified leakages in the system and hoped that the source of revenue to government will continue to improve in coming months.

Under the excess crude account, ECA, she explained that the reserve stood at $2.78 billion as at yesterday, from which they had the refund of N6.360 billion.

Former Minister faults Buhari’s claim of meeting empty treasury, says GEJ left behind $30bn

null

The immediate past Minister/Deputy Chairman, National Planning Commission (NPC), Dr. Abubakar Sulaiman has faulted President Buhari’s claim that the immediate past government left behind an empty treasury.

Pres. Buhari had in a media parley with state House correspondents on Monday June 22nd calimed that his administration met ‘virtually an empty treasury’. In a statement released yesterday June 23rd, Dr Suleiman said the Good luck administration left behind $30 billion in the national treasury.

He argued that saying the past government did not leave behind any money implies that revenue generating agencies of the government seized to work before and after the Goodluck administration ended on May 29th .

“Government can’t tell us that there is no Excess Crude Account (ECA), Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) or are we saying the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIR) and related agencies had not in the last one month been generating revenue? Until they are able to prove they had no receipts from these government agencies in the last one month before Nigerians can now buy into Mr. President’s claims of an empty treasury. Money made by government is meant to be spent, and this the immediate past administration did responsibly. Every government operates on deficit even in the so-called western world, including the US which today remains one of the largest debtor nations in the world. Is it not on record that President Obama inherited $3 trillion debt, a collapsed banking sector and mortgage industry, yet he never raised any alarm.

None of these has happened in Nigeria under Jonathan. Under Jonathan, Nigeria became the largest Africa economy and 26th in the world amidst deadly security challenges and dwindling international prices of oil. In spite of all these, the Federal Government never owed salary. Upon inception of Jonathan’s administration, it is on record that the price of oil at the global stage was over $100 per barrel and at the close of the administration, it dropped to $46. Yet, there wasn’t collapse of government and federal civil servants were paid as at when due. It will be misleading, therefore, for our respected President Muhammadu Buhari and indeed the ruling APC to claim to have met an empty treasury. Aspiration to governance is a call to meeting and confronting challenges headlong. So, we urge the APC-led government to hit the ground running as promised Nigerians by confronting the challenges. We are not in doubt of the capability of Mr. President to do it. He should, therefore, get to business, put in place structures and personnel to redeem the pledges made to Nigerians

A friend shared this picture with me on Whatsapp and ask how much will be required to clothe them. Seriously, its time we set our priorities right in this country. We are not asking government to be dashing people money, we are only asking for policies that will create an environment where entrepreneur can survive. Where farmers will be rewarded for their labour.

It is well with my country. Amen!!

Wonderful! New condom changes color when exposed to STDs

null

A new ‘smart condom’ was created by a group of teenage students for the Teen Tech awards, which they claim will glow different colors if it detects an STD!

The creators said the condom will work with a layer of chemicals on the surface that will attach to bacteria and viruses from STDs.

Here are the colors that the condom will change if STDs are detected:

“glow green for chlamydia, yellow for herpes, purple in the presence of the human papillomavirus which causes genital warts, and blue for syphilis.”

Not only will the “smart condoms” make you aware if your partner might have an STD, one of the designers explained:

“We wanted to create something that makes detecting harmful STIs safer than ever before, so that people can take immediate action in the privacy of their own homes without the invasive

Armed Robbers Kills Lord’s Chosen Pastor In Lagos

null

Armed robbers have shot dead a pastor of the Lord’s Chosen Church in the Ijesha area of Lagos. The deceased, identified as Chukwuemeka Akpokpo, who was driving one of the church’s buses, was reportedly attacked by the robbers on Monday at Alakoso Avenue, off Ijesha bus stop.

The pastor was said to be returning with a sum of money collected from a bank at Apple Junction, FESTAC Town, when the incident occurred. He was said to have been shot in the head, while the robbers made away with the money.

A resident, who claimed to be an eyewitness and identified himself simply as Cornelius, said the robbers, who were two on a motorcycle, had lurked in the area, waiting for the cleric.

He said, “It was at about 3pm. The cleric was shot by armed robbers at Alakoso Avenue, off Ijesha bus stop. The attack and the killing of the pastor showed that it was based on information.

“They had been lurking around the area for a while, but no one suspected that anything was fishy. When they saw the church vehicle approaching, they stopped him and asked where the money was.

“The pastor replied, ‘Which money?’ They did not even wait for any explanation. One of the robbers went inside the vehicle and took the money. The other gang member then shot him in the head.”

It was learnt that Akpokpo was rushed to a branch of the church in the Ijesha area, and then to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident, adding that the matter had been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigations, Yaba

Leaders & Thousands Of Supporters For PDP Defects To APC.

Chief Diekivie Ikiogha, yesterday led some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and thousands of his supporters to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The move, it was gathered, has depleted the ranks of PDP in the state ahead of the 2016 governorship election.
Ikiogha, a founding member of the PDP, embraced the broom revolution at an elaborate ceremony which ended in the evening at Kpansia open field, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.
Also, members of other political parties, including the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) followed him to the APC.
Leaders of the PDP that defected with him are: Chief Victor Awala, Paul Ajuwa, Mrs. D. Irene, a former commissioner, Prince Abeki as well as over 150 former councillors from 1999 to 2012.
Over 43 non-governmental organisations under the aegis of New Bayelsa Initiative also identified with Ikiogha, who was described as a great grassroots mobiliser.
Ikiogha, a former Bayelsa State Chief of Staff, said to be a trusted and dependable ally of Governor Seriake Dickson, was one of the brains behind the emergence of the governor in 2012.
But indications of a rift between the duo emerged when the governor removed him in controversial circumstances as Chief of Staff and redeployed him to Abuja Liaison Office.
Ikiogha resigned his appointment in October 2014 to contest the House of Representatives seat for Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma on the platform of the PDP but failed to clinch the ticket.
Addressing the mammoth crowd that came to witness his formal movement to APC, Ikiogha said he decided to quit the PDP because it is a party full of betrayals and deceits.
He said: “The PDP is full of betrayals and deceits. There is lack of internal democracy and it is a party where the highest bidder always has his ways.
“As I left the PDP, I went on my private business until I started receiving calls from my supporters and those who believe in me that I could not quit partisan politics.
“It was then I discovered that I had a family in the APC. I also know that Bayelsa people are yearning for change which the APC represents.
“All those denied opportunities in the PDP are defecting to the APC with me. There are many of them and the solidarity cuts across other political parties including the APGA, Accord Party, Labour Party, among others.”
APC’s national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, who was represented by the National Vice-Chairman, South-South, Hilliard Eta, received Ikiogha and handed him the symbolic broom.
Odigie-Oyegun noted the Dickson-led government of Bayelsa State had received over “N440bn from the federal government with nothing to show for it.”
He appealed to Bayelsans “to retire Governor Seriake Dickson”.
He declared that the occasion was not meant to give Ikiogha a governorship ticket to contest the forthcoming Bayelsa State governorship election but to receive him into the party.
He added that the process of electing a governorship flag bearer for the party would be transparent just like the process that produced Muhammadu Buhari as the party’s Presidential candidate.
Bayelsa State chairman of the APC, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe, said the journey to change Dickson, whom he accused of none performance, had just started.
He said the APC would use the broom to change incompetence that had bedevilled the oil-rich state for so long.
He noted that the doors of APC were open to all politicians with ambitions and aspirations.
It was gathered that Ikiogha, a former Commissioner for Agriculture, would soon formally declare his intention to contest the governorship election.
