Redeemers University To Suspend 22 Students, Including Asthma Patient For Not Attending Church

According to sources, Redeemers University is about to suspend 22 students today for missing church activities. The source who informed us said one of the students who missed not going to church had asthma attack and missed it, but their porters felt it’s none of their business. The students have been asked to go and inform their parents of the suspension and parents are planning to storm the school this morning. This is what they are fighting for. The school’s students handbook already made it clear that ‘Absence form corporate worship hours’ will attract a deduction of 10points from the offenders total 100 points.

So parents now wonder why the school is planning to suspend them, which will make them not seat for their forthcoming exams and will also make them cough out another N400,000 as school fees. Above is what one of them sent, underlining the penalty for their offense, which clearly says it’s a reduction of 10points.

The source also made it clear that she is very much aware that Pastor Adeboye does not know how some of these porters victimize some of the students. She said when the bold ones among them confronted their porters that their offence does not warrant a suspension, they told them, we know, we just want to make you scape goats.

Jonathan Will Defeat Buhari Come Febuary 14th 2015 - Tony Anenih

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Tony Anenih, has urged Nigerians not to be deceived that President Goodluck Jonathan will not secure a re-election in next month’s presidential election.

Anenih, who said this during a rally on Sunday in Uromi, the headquarters of Esan North-East Local Government of Edo State, noted that he had recently visited some northern states and with what he saw, the PDP would emerge victorious in the February elections.

Also, present at the rally were the Minister for Works, Mike Onolemenmen, a chieftain of the party, Chief Tom Ikimi; state Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih and other state executive members.

The BOT chairman specifically said that the PDP would win Kwara and Sokoto states and defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

He said, “Don’t be deceived if anyone tells you Jonathan will not win. I went out to see things for myself. Four days ago I was in Kwara State. As I was leaving after sitting for five hours, I knew that we have won Kwara.

“Two days ago as Buhari was landing in Sokoto, I was also landing in Sokoto and by the time I was leaving, I knew we have got Sokoto State. These are northern states.”

Anenih also urged the people of the state to support the PDP at the polls.

He added that it would be a sad tale to vote for the APC candidates at all levels because “you don’t take food from your son for a dog.”

“Coming back home, it will be a sad tale for any member of the South- South region to vote for the APC candidates, whether in the Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship or Presidential election. It will be so bad; you take food from your son to a dog,” he said.

Revealed: What Jonathan Told US Secretary Of State, John Kerry

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday assured

all stakeholders including the United States of

America that the May 29 handover date was

sacrosanct.

He gave the assurance amidst calls by some

individuals including the National Security

Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), for the

postponement of the February general elections.

According to a statement released by his Special

Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati,

the President gave the assurance during a

closed-door meeting he had with the United

States Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry, at the

State House, Marina.

The statement was signed personally by the

President.

He said he had what he called “a candid and

constructive discussion” about a broad range of

issues with his guest.

He said he emphasised to Kerry that he was

deeply committed to ensuring that the elections

were free, fair and credible.

He added that he also promised his guest that

his government would provide all resources

required by the Independent National Electoral

Commission to conduct hitch-free elections.

Jonathan said, “I emphasised to Secretary Kerry

that I am deeply committed to ensuring that our

forthcoming election is free, fair, and credible.

“It is especially critical that all political parties

abide by the Abuja Accord, which commits each

to non-violence before, during, and after the

election.

“I made it absolutely clear that the May 29th

handover date is sacrosanct.

“In addition, the government will provide all

resources that are required by the Independent

National Electoral Commission to ensure that the

election goes smoothly.

“I also emphasised that INEC is an independent

body, which makes its own decisions without any

interference from the government.”

The President said he was grateful to the US for

standing with Nigeria and its people in the

nation’s fight against Boko Haram.

He said he reaffirmed his administration’s

commitment to working together with the US to

put an end to global terrorism and particularly

Boko Haram.

He promised that Nigeria would also work to

deepen and consolidate its bilateral relationship

with the US.

The President described Nigeria as a vibrant

democracy and the largest trading partner of the

US in Africa with over $18bn in bilateral trade.

He noted that the two countries and peoples

shared a mutual admiration for one another and

a deep commitment to freedom, democracy, and

human rights.

This, he explained, was why the two countries

were jointly engaged in a struggle against “a

common enemy that promotes terror, fear,

division, and violates human rights, most

especially of women and girls, with complete

impunity.”

The President added, “Winning the fight against

Boko Haram in Nigeria and West Africa is

absolutely essential to beat back the tide of

religious extremism around the world.

“Our security forces have been working tirelessly

and courageously to achieve this goal.

“I reaffirmed for Secretary Kerry that Nigeria is

strongly committed to building the multinational

task force to fight Boko Haram in partnership

with Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin Republic

under the auspices of the Lake Chad Basin

Commission.

“Indeed, I called publicly for such a regional

approach at the African leaders’ summit in Paris

in May 2014 and more recently in multilateral

meetings.

“We are pleased that the international community

is now strongly united behind this initiative and

agree that its success is critical.

“It is equally important that the multinational

force receives the significant support that is

required to address the threat through our global

partners.

“The United States, more than any other country

in the world, has the most experience fighting

armed insurgencies.

“And having suffered the devastating attacks of

9/11, its people also understand the insecurity

and fear that is the reality for the vast majority

of peaceful, tolerant Muslims and Christians in

north eastern Nigeria.”

Buhari Vs Jonathan: Beyond The Election By Charles Soludo

I need to preface this article with a few clarifications.

I have taken a long sabbatical leave from partisan

politics, and it is real fun watching the drama from

the balcony. Having had my own share of public

service (I do not need a job from government), I now devote my time and energy in pursuit of other passions, especially abroad. A few days ago, I read an article in Thisday entitled “Where is Charles Soludo?”, and my answer is that I am still there, only that I have been too busy with extensive international travels to participate in or comment on our national politics and economy. But I occasionally follow events at home. Since the survival and prosperity of Nigeria are at stake, the least some of us (albeit, non-partisan) must do is to engage in public debate.

As the elections approach, I owe a duty to share some of my concerns.

In September 2010, I wrote a piece entitled “2011

Elections: Let the Real Debate Begin” and published

by Thisday. I understand the Federal Executive

Council discussed it, and the Minister of Information

rained personal attacks on me during the press

briefing. I noted more than six newspaper editorials

in support of the issues we raised. Beside other

issues we raised, our main thesis was that the macro economy was dangerously adrift, with little self- insurance mechanisms (and a prediction that if oil prices fell below $40, many state governments would not be able to pay salaries). I gave a subtle hint at easy money and exchange rate depreciations because I did not want to panic the market with a strong statement. Sadly, on the eve of the next elections, literally everything we hinted at has happened. Part of my motivation for this article is that five years after, the real debate is still not happening.

The presidential election next month will be won by

either Buhari or Jonathan. For either, it is likely to be

a pyrrhic victory. None of them will be able to deliver on the fantastic promises being made on the

economy, and if oil prices remain below $60, I see

very difficult months ahead, with possible heady

collisions with labour, civil society, and indeed the

citizenry. To be sure, the presidential election will not be decided by the quality of ‘issues’ or promises

canvassed by the candidates. The debates won’t also change much (except if there is a major gaffe by either candidate like Tofa did in the debate with

Abiola). My take is that more than 95% of the likely

voters have pretty much made up their minds based largely on other considerations. A few of us remain undecided.

During my brief visit to Nigeria, I watched

some of the campaign rallies on television. The

tragedy of the current electioneering campaigns is

that both parties are missing the golden opportunity to sensitize the citizenry about the enormous challenges ahead and hence mobilize them for the inevitable sacrifices they would be called upon to make soon. Each is promising an El-Dorado.

Let me admit that the two main parties talk around

the major development challenges—corruption,

insecurity, economy (unemployment/poverty, power, infrastructure, etc) health, education, etc. However, it is my considered view that none of them has any credible agenda to deal with the issues, especially within the context of the evolving global economy and Nigeria’s broken public finance. The UK Conservative Party’s manifesto for the last election proudly announced that all its programmes were fully costed and were therefore implementable. Neither APC nor PDP can make a similar claim. A plan without the dollar or Naira signs to it is nothing but a wish-list. They are not telling us how much each of their promises will cost and where they will get the money. None talks about the broken or near bankrupt public finance and the strategy to fix it.

In response to the question of where the money will

come from, I heard one of the politicians say that the problem of Nigeria was not money but the

management of resources. This is half-truth. The

problem is both. No matter how efficient a father

(with a monthly salary of N50,000) is at managing

the family resources, I cannot see how he could

deliver on a promise to buy a brand new Peugeot 406 for each of his three children in a year. Even with all the loopholes and waste closed, with increased efficiency per dollar spent, there is still a binding budget constraint. To deliver an efficient national transport infrastructure alone will still cost tens of billions of dollars per annum even by corruption-free, cost-effective means. Did I hear that APC promises a welfare system that will pay between N5,000 and N10,000 per month to the poorest 25 million Nigerians? Just this programme alone will cost between N1.5 and N3 trillion per annum. Add to this the cost of free primary education plus free meal (to be funded by the federal budget or would it force non-APC state governments to implement the same?), plus some millions of public housing, etc. I have tried to cost some of the promises by both the APC and the PDP, given alternative scenarios for public finance and the numbers don’t add up.

Nigerians would be glad to know how both parties

would fund their programmes. Do they intend to

accentuate the huge public debt, or raise taxes on

the soon to-be-beleaguered private businesses, or

massively devalue the naira to rake in baskets of

naira from the dwindling oil revenue, or embark on

huge fiscal retrenchment with the sack of labour and abandonment of projects, and which areas of waste do they intend to close and how much do they estimate to rake in from them, etc?

I remember that Chief Obafemi Awolowo was asked similar questions in 1978 and 1979 about his promises of free education and free medical services. Even as a teenager, I was impressed by how he reeled out figures about the amounts he would save from various ‘waste’ including the tea/coffee served in government offices. The point is that at least he did his homework and had his numbers and I give credit to his team. Some 36 years later, the quality of political debate and discourse seems to border on the pedestrian. From the quality of its team, I did not expect much from the current government, but I must confess that I expected APC as a party aspiring to take over from PDP to come up with a knock-out punch.

Evidently, from what we have read from the

various versions of its manifesto as well as the depth of promises being made, it does not seem that it has better offer.

Photo: Should Fashion Police Arrest 2face For This Outfit?

(2face joined the bride’s brother in a matching outfit but he

went a bit fashion forward in the process. Photo:

Orson Welles once said ‘Style is knowing who you are, what

you want to say, and not giving a damn.’

Looks like that is exactly what 2face Idibia did at Sound

Sultan ‘s sister’s wedding ceremony yesterday, January 24,

2015.

2face joined the bride’s brother in a matching outfit but

went a bit fashion forward in the process. The multiple

award winning star pulled a ‘rural meet urban’ look by

wearing his agbada (a popular long robe worn by men in

Nigeria) on a black shirt and even added a NY fez cap.

Who does that though? Yes, only 2face Idibia! But should

he be arrested by the fashion police or should that be

embraced that as a new trend?

UNIPORT Confirms President Jonathan’s Phd Certificate Is Authentic.

The Uniport Deputy Registrar (Information), Dr. William Wodi has explained that apart from acquiring his first degree in the institution, Jonathan also got his Masters and Ph.D in the same institution.

Maiduguri Under Boko Haram Attack!

Edit: Update: Maiduguri is currently under partial attack!

We are receiving disturbing reports that Boko Haram armies are headed for Maiduguri, capital of Borno state.

A message from a security officer read “Salam. We just got a report that Book haram will strike Maiduguri tonight. Pls wake up n pray with ur family now. May Allah save us all.”

In the early hours of Saturday, Boko Haram terrorists erased Kambari village, killing 15 citizens and the village head.

Kambari village is just 5 kilometers from Maiduguri. The terrorists are believed to be possibly headed to the capital via this route after the many unsuccessful attempts via Konduga.
The terrorists made several unsuccessful attempts on the capital which were thwarted in fierce combats by the Nigerian army and Civilian JTF at Konduga. In one such attack, a Boko Haram leader, “Shekau” double was killed by the Nigerian army.

Nigeria’s president just concluded a visit to Maiduguri in which he had hundreds of soldiers deployed for his protection. It is hoped that these soldiers are still in the capital and will be part of the defense against Boko Haram’s invasion.

Distressingly, Boko Haram burned down the Kambari village while hundreds of troops were stationed in the capital to secure the president of Nigeria’s re-election campaign barely 5 kilometers away.

The terrorists amassed serious weapons, armored tanks and personnel carriers and communications equipment in their successful raid on Bama barracks early January in an attack that saw them kill over 2500 defenseless civilians.

The terrorists have visibly been more aggressive ahead of the February elections. It is perceived that they are eager to make as much gains as they can before a change in administration to a General Buhari government that is expected to be intolerable of their carnage.

Our calls to corroborate this information rang out.

More as we get it…

Boko Haram Launches Simultaneous Attacks On Maiduguri, Monguno •DHQ Declares Curfew.

A curfew has been imposed on Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, following simultaneous attacks by the Boko Haram sect on Maiduguri and Monguno, Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has said.

The attacks came on the heels of a recent video uploaded to YouTube by leader of the insurgents, Abubakar Shekau, who showcased a disturbing collection of arms and ammunitions, which he boasted was more than enough to execute a major war against Nigeria.

It was learnt that insurgents had since Saturday night sustained attack on the two cities in a bid to seize them few hours after President Goodluck Jonathan, during his presidential campaign in the troubled state, vow to liberate all towns and villages currently under the control of Boko Haram.

The defence headquarters tweeted via its handle @DefenceInfoNG,“Troops are repelling a simultaneous attack on Monguno and Maiduguri by terrorists.

“Curfew is imposed on #MAIDUGURI with immediate effect till further notice as pursuit of retreating terrorists begin”

It added, “Coordinated Air and Land OPs being conducted now”.

Nigeria2015: Ekiti PDP Youth Vow To ‘Shock’ Jonathan, Fayose By Voting For Buhari.

The Peoples Democratic Party Youth Network, Ekiti State chapter, has vowed to work against and ensure its presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, loses woefully in the February 14 presidential election.

The Ekiti Coordinator of the network, Tope Musowo, made the threat in a press statement on Saturday.

Musowo, who decried the PDP-led federal government’s handling of the situation in the country, said President Jonathan has failed by surrounding himself with sycophants.

“It is quite unfortunate that President Jonathan surrounds himself with political vultures who will mess up his good works, and these people don’t care if he loses or not. Let me make it clear here that Ekiti voters are the most sophisticated voters in Nigeria.

“If you understand the sociology and the political culture of Ekiti people, you will know that the result of June 21st governorship election in Ekiti will not necessary translate into victory for Jonathan come Febuary 14, go and ask Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the teachers and civil servants of Ekiti danced and sang for him on Wednesday at the stadium before they crucified him on Saturday at the poll”.

He added “We have been using our personal resources to build the structure of the organization, just as they also mobilized their people across the state to the presidential campaign rally.

“As I speak, I have not seen any branded campaign bus for Goodluck Jonathan in Ekiti, the voice of the opposition party is louder in Ekiti than that of the ruling party, how will PDP win? And let me tell you, Ekiti voters will shock Jonathan and his governor”.

The statement said the people of Ekiti State are already fed up with Governor Ayodele Fayose, saying, “Fayose will not realize that the people of Ekiti are already tired of him, just as they were with Fayemi then, you see the sociology of the state is such that when they decide this is where the state is going, that is it. This explains why Fayemi lost in all the 16 Local Government Areas, and those that are ignorant of the sociology of the state will always attribute it to stomach infrastructure.

“Ekiti is an homogenous state, the only state in the south west where everybody is Ekiti, unlike in other states; for instance Ondo State, we have the Akokos, the Ilajes, Ondos, the Ijaws and so on, but in Ekiti, we are all Ekitis and this homogeneity helps unanimity and consensus. I see this playing out in February poll again.

“PDP Youth Network is the only organization that spread across the 16 Local Government Areas, 132 towns, and the 263 farmsteads in Ekiti; our structure is in all the 177 wards of the state, yet neither the party nor the state government acknowledges our efforts.

“They did not accord us any recognition in spite of efforts during the governorship election, we have written letters to the state governor since last year to give us audience, to intimate him with our activities and structure across the state, no way.

“Therefore, we are left with no other option than to write our national office, that if other states decide to go on voluntary slavery, Ekiti people are not obliged to follow, because the days of monkey dey work baboon they chop are over”, the statement concluded.

Blame Actresses For Sexual Harassment In Nollywood – Nazareth Bako

Nazareth Jesse Bako is a relatively new face in Nollywood, but she has already featured in a number of flicks. In this interview with ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM, she debunks claims that men are solely behind sexual harassment in the industry.

Excerpt from the interview :

You have acted with a lot of people in the industry, what are the challenges you encountered during the period?

I have worked with a lot of people in the industry having come from the field of Business Administration and Management because I didn’t study Theatre Arts. Because of this, initially, I had a little problem because I couldn’t catch up. I learnt a lot from my colleagues on positioning, character description because acting is my passion. By the way, I am from Kuje area council of the FCT born and bred in Niger State. As an actress, it’s not been easy because you have a lot of competitors and the accessibility to meet up with some jobs because I reside in the FCT. Although we shoot movies once in a while, Abuja is not much of an entertainment place. For example, if 20 movies are produced in other places, in Abuja, only five would be produced. But I have been going around the country shooting movies, so it’s not been easy.

Which has been your most challenging role as an actress?

The most challenging role I have ever played in a movie was being a Catholic Reverend Sister. It was challenging because I don’t know the doctrine. I had to learn how to recite the rosary and also how to say some prayers. I spent days trying to catch-up. It wasn’t smooth though, but I was able to meet up.

Have you ever been harassed by a fan before?

Yes, I have (laughs)

Let’s get the gist.

It was this fateful day when someone accosted me and said, ‘This was the girl I saw fighting on the screen with only bra calling names’. I had to enlighten her that I am just an actor maintaining that it was a role I had to play in the movie which doesn’t depict what I do in real life. She’s even a woman. Even with my explanation, she said, ‘No, don’t play that kind of role’. I then told her that if I don’t play that kind of role, how will she and others know about the disadvantage of being a prostitute or a good or bad person?

This takes us to the issue of sexual harassment in the industry. Have you ever been tried to get a role?

I have never been harassed before. If you look at it critically, this things happen in every sector and not just in the movie industry. Go to the ministries and their parastatals, even in all these private organisations, they practice exists. Sometimes, your boss will walk up to you and start touching you. In the movie industry, there is nothing like that because there is no way, a producer, director or a marketer infringe in your privacy or hold you in an uncomfortable way. The fault is always from the women. You come to location and you don’t dress properly and you don’t expect the men to look at you? (laughs); there is freedom of looking, you know! I believe it is the ladies that has most of the problems. There’s nothing like harassment in the industry. Sometimes, you find out that most girls walk up to their rooms, chatting and even end up sleeping there. So, I don’t think the men are to be blamed.

Has any of your male fans ever approached you for a relationship before?

Yes…lots of them. Some of them called me and I don’t even know how they got my contacts. I have many that come down from Europe. Some text while others call.

So how do you cope with them?

Ehmm…(laughs) I just give attention to the one I can and leave the ones I can’t mingle with because I study you from the first moment I get in contact with you. I get to know the kind of person you are, your intentions. It doesn’t mean that I have to date them all. We can be friends.

So who is your best actor in Nollywood ?

My best actor in Nollywood so far has been Ramsey Nouah because he is versatile. He can interpret any kind of role. He is still very relevant.

Fake Tiwa Savage Dupes Lagos Politician

Well, it’s the age of fake social media accounts and Nigerian celebrities are the worst hit when you put together a roll call of victims.

With the fake Twitter account of late Muna Obiekwe and atrocities committed by the impostor still lingering in the minds of Nigerians, another case has just been reported. Even worse, this time, it didn’t even happen on social media.

Daily Independent reports that a Lagos politician and managing director of Lagos-based travel agency, Aeroland Travels, Segun Adewale popularly known as Aeroland, has been duped of 500k.

The report says Adewale, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Lagos West in the forthcoming 2015 election, lost half a million Naira to someone posing as Mavin first lady, Tiwa Savage. Having declared his intention to run for Senate in 2015 again and obtaining his party’s nomination form in November 2014, Segun Adewale reportedly contacted the fake ‘Tiwa Savage’ to perform at his political declaration party.

The politician was however disappointed when the ‘Kelekele Love‘ singer did not show up at the event. Presently, Segun Adewale is banking on the financial institution through which the money was paid to help get what is left of the amount as a withdrawal has already been made on the beneficiary account.

Chris Brown at the Center of New Identity Theft Criminal Investigation

Chris Brown is now at the center of a new criminal investigation but this time he's the victim.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... when Chris was jailed for leaving rehab back in April and taken across the country to Washington D.C. for his hearing on assault charges, one of his first stops was San Bernardino County Jail.

Chris was only there for a day or so, but procedure required a jail ID. When Chris left, his ID was left

with the jailers.

Fast forward to this week ... when someone tried to sell the ID online for $10,000. Chris' lawyer, Mark Geragos, got wind of it and went to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Dept. and said "What the F***?"

The Sheriff's Dept. launched an investigation and traced the ID to someone in the area. We've learned cops seized the ID and grilled the guy, who insists he got the ID from a friend who got it from a friend.

Cops are trying to figure out how the ID got out of police custody and whether a crime has been committed.

Did Funke Akindele shade Toyin Aimakhu last night?

Something happened last night but I was too tired to write it ...and then I woke up this morning and almost forgot about it. *sigh*. I may be reaching and Funke may not have been referring to Toyin but let me tell you what happened and you decide for yourself.

It's not news that Toyin Aimakhu and Funke Akindele don't see eye to eye. If you Google, you will find a few posts of reports of the two actresses beefing each other. In fact, sometime in 2013, Toyin tweeted at an 'aunty Agbaya' who was going around tarnishing her image. Toyin made reference to herself being married while the 'Agbaya' was single and jumping around. This was a few months after Funke Akindele's marriage ended. (Read here). A lot of people felt Toyin was referring to Funke.

Well, yesterday after news hit social media that Toyin Aimakhu's marriage to Adeniyi Johnson had crashed, Funke went on instagram and posted what you see above and under it she wrote "Yes, You!" with two tongue out smiley.

Many of her followers immediately picked up on it and accused her of shading Toyin because her marriage had also failed. When fans criticized her for the post, Funke Akindele removed it but not before I screen-grabbed it. So that's happened. You think it had to do with Toyin?

'Maku Has Betrayed Jonathan, PDP' – David Mark

The senate president, Sen David Mark, on Saturday said that the former minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, has betrayed President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by dumping the party for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Sen Mark made the remark in Keffi while addressing PDP supporters during the Nasarawa State governorship campaign flag-off saying Jonathan is not in support of his gubernatorial ambition inAPGA.

He called on the people of the state to disregard all claims, name dropping and insinuations making the rounds that President Jonathan is in support of Labaran Maku’s gubernatorial aspiration under the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.

“I want to call on you and other Nigerians to disregard insinuations going round the state that our president is supporting Mr. Labaran Maku in the state for his governorship ambition under APGA”, adding that, “President Jonathan is in PDP and will never support any candidate outside the PDP”.

“The former Information minister, after he benefited a lot from the PDP government has defected to APGA; such decision is not in the best interest of the PDP and nobody should say that President Jonathan is supporting his governorship ambition in the state”.

“President Jonathan is only supporting all the PDP candidates in the country and I call on you and other Nigerians to disregard any information regarding supporting Maku as it is not only false but unfounded and created by those who want to create division in the party”, Mark said.

Mark called on Nigerians to vote President Jonathan and all PDP candidates during the February election regardless of ethnic, religion, adding that it is only PDP that would bring the much needed dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

He said a vote for PDP is a vote for quality education, peace, development and a vote for transformation in all the sectors of the economy and assured Nigerians of the federal government commitment.

Parents Of Girl Who Planned Her Own Kidnap Disown Her (Pic)

The parents of the Mass Communications undergraduate of the Delta State University, Abraka, Belynda Chinwe Bosa, who planned her own kidnap with her boyfriend to obtain a ransom of of N10 million from them, has disowned her, saying she has always been a bad child who has repeatedly brought pains and sorrow to them

The girl and her boyfriend, George Itietie, who were arrested in Port Harcourt after they had received the sum of N500,000 from the distraught family, are currently being detained by Delta Police Command, despite her regrets, will also have to contend with her parents' anger and abandonment.

The petrified parents who became distraught when it was revealed to them that their beloved daughter was actually behind the kidnap, promptly disowned her for putting them through hell.

Bosa, a 300 level student, had told police officers in her confession that she did what she did out of love and her desire to marry Itietie but now, it seems all her plans for her future has hit the rocks as her parents have vowed never to have anything to do with her including her educational pursuit or the man she was so smitten with love, meaning that they will not support any marriage plans between them.

They implored the police to treat her and Itietie as criminals.

Bosa, crying profusely when her parents visited the police station, said:

"I regret getting involved in this crime. Please forgive me, daddy and mummy! I’m sorry for the stress I made you go through!

George and I love each other. We decided to get married but had no money to plan the wedding.

I decided to offer myself to be kidnapped by George so that we could extort money from my parents for the wedding. If I’m given the chance, I’ll still marry George.

But we didn’t envisage that it would go this way. I can’t just explain what came over me.

I don’t know why I embarked on this shameful act.

I’ve embarrassed my parents and soiled my family name for the sake of love. Can somebody please help me beg them to forgive me?"

But her parents would have none of her tears and pleas, saying she was only shedding crocodile tears.

On his part, Itietie did not believe that any plans for marriage between them would work anymore.

"Even if Belynda’s parents allow me to marry her, will they be able to obliterate the stigma from their hearts?"

Do you think Belynda's parents are right in disowning her or should they forgive their daughter after her apology?
