Another fallen hero

Nigerian soldier, Al Amin Yols, died on Friday January 30th in battle just five days after reporting to his new post in Maiduguri from another state. I went through his Facebook page and he was very lively and vibrant on social media. He even posted stuff a day before he died. So sad! May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

Six Suspected Suicide Bombers Disguised As Women Arrested In Yola.

Six suspected suicide bombers disguised as women, have been arrested by the military authorities in Yola, the capital of Adamawa state.

The incident happened just hours ahead of the presidential campaign visit to Yola by the APC flag bearer Muhammadu Buhari scheduled for today.

The suspects were nabbed by the military at the ever busy Mubi roundabout in the state capital.

According to an eyewitness, one of the suspects was seen entering an uncompleted building. Unknown to him that some of the residents were watching, he came out disguised as a woman. As he was about to board a commercial tricycle (Keke NAPEP) the residents alerted the military detailed to cordon off the roundabout.

He said that the military immediately arrested the suspect and when he was interrogated he confessed and led them to the five others who also dressed in female attires close to the roundabout.

The eyewitness said the suspects said they were on a mission in the state to burn churches and that they are thirty in number.

According to the eyewitness, the suspects attempted to escape, but were apprehended by the military.

The suspects reportedly had tattoos indicating that they are members of the terrorist group Boko Haram, on their bodies. They were taken to the Army Barracks for further interrogation.

Buhari Threatens to Drag NTA and AIT to Court Over Hate Broadcasts

The Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari (ret), has threatened to take legal action against the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, and the African Independent Television, AIT, for airing hate broadcasts against his personality, reports Vanguard

This came on a day the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, warned all broadcasting stations operating in the country to adhere strictly to the provisions of the broadcasting code or risk sanctions.

In a protest letter lodged through the Legal Director of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume, SAN, Buhari, insisted that the two television stations must not only retract the “hate documentaries,” but also issue a public apology to him.

He said he would not hesitate to seek legal remedy should the television houses refuse to comply with the conditions.

Besides, the APC candidate said he had already petitioned the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, NBC, and the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, asking them to investigate both NTA and AIT over the hate broadcasts and take necessary punitive actions.

“The hate broadcast has been on from Saturday, January 24, 2015 to Sunday, January 25, 2015, at 11p.m. in AIT,” Buhari noted.

Meanwhile, The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has warned all broadcasting stations to adhere strictly to the provisions of the broadcasting code or risk sanctions.

The Director-General of the Commission, Mr. Emeka Mba, who issued the warning, said the Commission acknowledged the effort of broadcasting stations were making in lubricating the nation’s political space, but noted that some stations had been operating outside the provisions of the code in a manner that could become counter-productive to the national objectives of peaceful, free and fair elections.

“We are in exciting times. Political campaigns are under way and the nation is agog with politicians campaigning to persuade the electorate to support them, this is how it should, that is the beauty of democracy,” he said.

Why the essay by Chimamanda was taken down from the Guardian

Yesterday, UK Guardian published an article written by award-winning writer Chimamanda Adichie about her struggles with depression which I also republished here. The Guardian later took the article down explaining that it was published in error. Thing is, they didn't have permission from Ms Adichie to publish the article. Out of courtesy, I also took the post down. But there's been some confusion over why the article was taken down from the Guardian. Chimamanda's manager explains below...

"When a writer of Chimamanda Adichie's status writes an essay, many publications are interested in publishing it. Her agent sends the essay to a few publications. The publications indicate their interest and make various offers and proposals including how they will feature it and what they would like to accompany it (e.g. a photo shoot, an additional interview), how much they will pay for it, when they will publish it and in what section of the publication. Chimamanda then makes a decision about which publication she prefers

Chimamanda wrote the essay about depression last year. Depression is a very important subject for her. She wanted to make sure the essay was very honest. She wanted to use the essay as a way to help people, to start a conversation about depression, particularly among Africans. Many people suffer in silence. Breaking the silence around the subject of depression can be the first step to getting better.

Many magazines and publications were interested in the essay. One of them was the Guardian. Chimamanda considered their offer and then decided she didn't want it to be published there. She felt that the Guardian was not the right place for the essay. She declined their offer, and they acknowledged in writing that she had declined.

She planned to publish the essay later this year, when she would have finished other engagements, to give her time to deliver a talk in Nigeria about depression.

She had still not finally decided which publication she would go with when she discovered on Sunday that the essay had been published in the Guardian, with no notice, no permission, nothing. She was shocked.

The Guardian claims it was a technical error. It is not clear how something could have been published, with photographs, due to a technical error. It is possible that The Guardian deliberately published it even though they had been turned down. That way, The Guardian could claim to have been first to publish Africa's most-internationally recognized novelist writing for the first time on the very personal subject of depression. The Guardian's action was unethical and possibly illegal. The Guardian has apologized and removed the essay.

The essay will be republished properly later this year. Chimamanda thanks all the people who have already shared their own stories of depression. She hopes that knowing you are not alone will be a source of comfort. She will speak more on the subject in the coming months.

‘Gates Of Hell’ Allegations Against Oyedepo Mischievous, Untrue – Winners Chapel.

The Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, on Sunday dismissed reports that its founder, Bishop David Oyedepo, said a prayer unleashing the gate of hell on anybody who opposed the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

President Jonathan had visited the headquarters of the church at Ota, Ogun State, last Sunday, but shortly after, there were reports that the flamboyant cleric allegedly openly declared support for the president’s re-election.

However, in its first official reaction to the rumors since it first started, the Resident Pastor of the church, Pastor Ubong Ntia, said the reports “were far from the truth”.

The church said those spreading the rumour should have obtained the video clips of the service first and verify the claim.

“There was nowhere, nor was there any time the following prayer or words were uttered by the Church or the Bishop: ‘I will open the gates of hell to anyone who opposes you’, or ‘I will open the gates of hell to anyone who opposes the peace of this nation’”, the statement read.

The church said the rumours were intended to cause mischief and to dent the image of Oyedepo and as well as to create confusion in the country.

It also said the Bishop did not call President Jonathan to the altar for any special cleansing or deliverance.

“President Jonathan along with his entourage, like the rest of the congregation, was upstanding, and prayers were made for him and all those in authority, and the nation”, the statement read.

Recalling Jonathan’s visit to the church, the statement said, “The President and his entourage arrived Canaan Land (Faith Tabernacle) for the third service at about 9.30am. He and his team were ushered in and asked to occupy the front seats alongside the Resident Pastor and other senior pastors.

Thereafter, in honour of the President, Bishop Oyedepo invited President Jonathan to ‘bring a word of greeting’ to the congregation.

“President Jonathan spent approximately six minutes in his address, clearly stating that he would be careful not to sound political so that his visit and intentions would not be construed as electioneering campaign. In his brief speech, he adulated the Ministry and person of Bishop for the mighty works of faith, prayer for Nigeria and educational milestones the Living Faith Church has engendered for national development. He then expressed his belief that the elections of 2015 would go peacefully, while also asking for the people of God to pray more”.

Hot Mess: Nigerian Doctor Accused Of Sexual Assault After Fondling Patient’s Breast.

The Nigerian doctor in the UK who groped a vulnerable divorcee in her home was acquitted of sexual assault and have now returned to work after citing “cultural differences” as the reason for his visit.

A Nigerian doctor in UK was arraigned in court with charges bordering sexual assault after a female patient accused him stroking her breast and trying to kiss her.

Dr Emmanuel Kanustroked her breast and repeatedly tried to kiss her, telling her “You want it” when she tried to escape his clutches during the visit.

Dr Emmanuel who graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2003, had just completed GP training and was undergoing specialist training in psychiatry.

He was on a locum shift at the A&E department of Darlington Memorial Hospital, County Durham, when the woman who was a divorcee was brought in after trying to take her own life.

According to Daily Mail the unnamed mother of two was still recovering in an emergency ward bed when Dr Emmanuel asked for her mobile number and then rang her when she was discharged five days later to tell her that he “thinking of her”.

Emmanuel then arranged a meeting with the woman at her home, she thought she was appointment was for a medical assessment.

According to the woman’s report, he put his arm around her and stroked her chest.

She told the court that she was “scared, frozen to the spot” and that she was unsure if Emmanuel was really a doctor.

When she resisted his advances and stormed off to her kitchen, the woman said he followed her and tried to. “I can see it in your eyes that you want it,” he told her.

Kanu, who worked at Borders General Hospital, was however acquitted of sexual assault at Durham Crown Court in 2012.

He told the court that he had not molested the patient and claimed “cultural differences” led to the visit on September 3, 2011, saying.

“There is a clear divide between the doctor and the patient here, which is very different in Nigeria,” Dr Emmanuel is reported to have told the court.

However, the Director General of NEDG, Taiwo Alike came out to say, that his organisation had not received any formal notice of any party’s boycott and reassured of the group’s integrity, fairness and equity standard.

Bird Flu: Bauchi State Govt. Bans Movement Of Poultry, Poultry Products Into State.

The Bauchi State Government has announced the ban on movement of poultry and poultry products into the state from other states battling to contain the outbreak of Avian Influenza, also known as “Bird Flu”.

The Desk Officer, State Avian Influenza Control Programme, Ibrahim Bello, announced the ban on Friday in Bauchi.

The Federal Government had confirmed the outbreak of Bird Flue in 11 states of the federation.

“The Ministry (for Animal Resources and Nomadic Resettlement) has banned the movement of poultry especially from these three states that have recorded outbreaks.

“We are now making efforts to reactivate our control posts and inspection points across the major highways in and out of the state.

“The ministry is trying now to go round to sensitise the chicken sellers in their various markets and to go out with pamphlets to distribute to the general public just to create awareness”.

Mr. Bello said although the state had not recorded any reported case of Bird Flu, the ministry had put in place some measures in case of any eventuality.

He said that the ministry was now trying to resuscitate the State Technical Committee on Bird Flu and the State Rapid Response Team in anticipation of possible outbreak.

Mr. Bello further stated that the veterinary officers in all the 20 local government areas of the state have also been placed on standby.

“We had stakeholders meeting with them and we informed them of the situation in the country as far as Bird Flu is concerned and we tried to update them on movement and control of poultry and poultry products within their domains.

“We also told farmers on the need to improve sanitation and security on their farms so that they don’t allow infections get into their farms.

“And we are trying to sensitise bird vendors and people that roast chickens by the road sides, the restaurateurs preparing pepper soap for the public to make sure that they handle poultry and poultry products with caution”.

He urged farmers in the state to keep new birds away from their farms pending the time the scourge will be curbed and urged consumers to avoid sick birds.

Nigerians Line Up 6,000 Questions For Presidential Debates – NEDG.

General Secretary, Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mr Isaac Ighure, on Friday said Nigerians had “responded positively” by sending in 6,000 questions for the presidential debates, organised by the Nigeria Election Debate Group.

Speaking in Abuja on Friday, Ighure said the questions would be considered and harmonised by the Questions Harmanisation Committee of the NEDG.

He said the group had, however, forwarded all the thematic areas that questions might be drawn from to all participating political parties to help them prepare for the debates.

Meanwhile, the NEDG has said no party or group had written to say it would not participate in the election debates.

Founding Chairman/Consultant of the NEDG, Chief Taiwo Alimi, said this in an interview with newsmen after a meeting in Abuja on Friday, preparatory to the conduct of the debate.

He said the NEDG had the acknowledgement copies of reminders sent out on Friday.

He assured stakeholders that the body still remained very credible and non-partisan.

“So far, all the political parties are attending the debate beginning from Sunday; there is no party that has written to the NEDG saying it is not going to take part.

“Just earlier today, our secretariat sent out reminders to all the participating political parties and they all signed that they received our letter. Not one is saying it will not come, all the parties will attend”, he said.

He explained that the NEDG was made up of Nigeria Guild of Editors, National Alliance for Credible Elections in Nigeria, Association of Young Professionals, and National Council of Women Societies.

He also named the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria, made up of all private and government-owned media houses in Nigeria.

Alimi added, “Therefore, given the composition of the NEDG since 2003, it is an organisation with integrity, with trust, with competence and with experience.

“It remains the largest platform for debate in Nigeria and Africa. Therefore, there is no such thing about being government owned.

“All the privately-owned media houses are part of the NEDG”.

He emphasised that the NEDG was the greatest platform for those who want to let Nigerians know what they would do, how they would do it.

Ighure explained that the meeting was to fine-tune arrangements for a hitch-free conduct of the election debates. (NAN)

This is contained in the Rice Seizure Report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja by the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wale Adeniyi.

According to the report, the quantity of rice seized in 2014 was 76,244 bags higher than the 165,034 bags seized in 2013.

It represents 68.4 per cent increase.

It also showed that the bags of rice were confiscated in 2,719 seizures against 2, 707 seizures made in 2013.

The comparative analysis of the duty and value of rice seized during the year with the previous year also showed an increase in the service’s anti-smuggling activities from the previous year.

A monthly breakdown of the figures showed that 26,986 bags of rice worth N157.33 million from 227 seizures were made in January 2014.

This is against the 14,859 bags worth N86.63 million in 291 seizures made in February.

Power: FG Deploys Electronic Monitors To Check Gas Pipelines Vandalization.

The Minister of State for Power, Mr. Mohammed Wakil, on Saturday said the Federal Government had started installing electronic monitors to check the spate of gas pipelines vandalisation, as part of measures aimed at ensuring regular power supply.

The junior minister, who sounded confident that the recent privatisation of the power sector carried out by the present administration would soon yield visible result, said South Africa has started emulating the exercise, which he noted had become a model for many other countries.

He made this known in an interview with journalists in Abuja.

Wakil boasted that in due course, Nigerians would soon be taking power supply for granted in the country.

He said, “In due course, power supply will become what Nigerians can take for granted. We are expanding investment in transmission sector through involvement of the private sector.

“The distribution companies are investing in system upgrade, like South Africa is about to start.

“The generation companies are busy with upgrade especially after the administration had addressed the gas-to-power issue.

“We are installing electronic monitors to check incessant vandalism of gas pipelines by enemies of the nation”.

Wakil noted that South Africa was already borrowing a leaf from the privatisation model for the transformation of its ailing energy sector.

This, he argued, is a vindication of the durability of the policies and programmes of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration of which power is one of its core components.

He also claimed that the crisis rocking the South African power sector had necessitated the country to draft a power sector privatization bill now before its parliament.

Wakil said although the nation has not reached its desired destination in terms of uninterrupted power supply, “we are on the road to reaching that goal.

We have passed critical stage: we are now on the final lap”.

Political Parties Pay Supporters N2,000 Each To Attend Rallies. (Punch Report)

Rowdy rally: Stampede at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos...on Friday.| credits: AFP

A percentage of the crowd that turn up at election campaign rallies held by political parties for the forthcoming general elections is rented; investigations by SUNDAY PUNCH has shown.

Each of those contracted for the rallies are paid between N500 and N5,000.

It was learnt that the amount paid depends on the profile of the event, the distance of the venue and the calibre of people engaged.

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the major opposition party, All Progressives Congress, as well as other parties has been making claims, especially on social media, that the huge crowd that turn up at their campaigns was a proof of their popularity.

SUNDAY PUNCH, however, learnt that women and youth groups, as well as ‘elders’ are hired in Akwa Ibom, Oyo, Abia,

In Uyo, a member of the PDP, Mr. Eric Ekanem, who spoke to one of our correspondents, said, “If you observe, you will see that those who attend PDP rallies and campaigns are often mobilised at the end of the event, where they are given between N200 and N2000 each.

“The amount each person receives depends on the groups they belong.”

An Eket-based woman, Ms. Ikwo Edet, said she was paid N500 after the last political rally she attended in Uyo.

In Umuahia, Abia State, a source, who begged not to be named, revealed that unemployed youths, students of both secondary and tertiary institutions, tricycle and motorcycle riders, as well as traders form the category of individuals easily rented.

The source said the rent ranges from N500 to N3000, depending on the category of the individual and the importance of the political rally.

Confirming this, a tricycle driver, who identified himself as ‘One Nigeria’, said he did not belong to any political party but was ready to be hired by any party that could pay his charges.

Similalarly in Enugu State, SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that students are a major population hired for political rallies.

A student, who gave his name as Ebuka, told one of our correspondents that he had been part of a rented crowd in several rallies.

He said, “We have link men who are close to the politicians. Whenever the need arises, they usually get in touch with us. We are mobilised through these contact persons.”

It was a similar case in Bayelsa State, where parties reach out to youth and women groups in the local governments area for mobilisation.

A regular participant in such rallies, Ms. Ebilami Victor, who hails from Ekeremor area of the state, said she usually took part in such activity because it was the only way to make money.

“It depends on where the campaign is taking place. If it is within the local government area, each participant is usually paid between N1500 and N2000.

But if it is Yenagoa, the state capital, we are paid N3000.

“But when it is outside the state, each person is paid between N2000 and N5000,” she said.

In Oyo State, there is a network through which crowds are gathered for political purposes. The ring is run by a women and men group, it was learnt.

Youths in Ondo State are also having a swell time attending political rallies organised by parties and candidates ahead of the elections.

A party member, who gave his name as Adedeji, who attended a Social Democratic Party rally in Akure, told one of our correspondents that each ‘supporter’ engaged by one of the candidates received N2, 500 to attend the rally.

Another supporter, an unemployed, who identified himself simply as Makinde, told our correspondent that he received N1000 to attend the rally.

In Cross River State, SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that political parties have resorted to contracting the job of hiring crowd to individuals or groups within the party.

Depending on the venue of the rally, the task of mobilising at least 1000 persons spread across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state could cost between N800,000 and N1m.

In the ruling PDP, one of such mobilisers, who preferred not to be named, said his last task of hiring 300 persons to a rally at the central senatorial district cost N1m.

In the case of Edo State, many of the supporters, who are predominantly youths, are sourced from both within the state and from neighbouring states.

A source within the APC said, “You know that there is unemployment and hunger everywhere.

They can get N1,500 or N2,000, for transportation or feeding. If you are politically active, you would understand that you don’t have to be a card-carrying member of a party to show your support,” he said.

I Go To Church For Confession After Robbery – Suspect Reveals (Pictured)

29-year David Chineye was among eight suspected members of a trans-border robbery gang arrested by the Lagos State Police Command last week. The Imo State-born suspect who claimed to be married to a Benin Republic-based Togolese, gave a startling confession on the gang’s operation in Benin and Mali, during an exclusive interview with Crime Guard.

Chineye who admitted to be the gang’s informant, revealed that his union with his wife, made it easy for him to study the terrain in Cotonou, Benin Republic, thereby facilitating the gang’s entry into the country.

Members of his gang reportedly stormed a micro finance bank in Porto Novo, Benin Republic, last November, from where they carted away the equivalent of N100 million.

Chineye who gave his operational name as Ishola, said he masterminded the robbery operation at the financial institute, adding that it took him two days to study the terrain before inviting other members of the gang over. He further told Crime Guard that the gang was planning to extend its operations to Togo when they were arrested.

I go for confession after each operation

The father of one who was full of remorse said that his pastor and members of his church, whose name he gave as Christ Ascension Church, Benin Republic branch, would be shocked beyond imagination when news of his arrest reach them.

According to him: “ I am a dedicated church worker. Nobody knew I was an armed robber. Every time I returned from any operation, my conscience would prick me. Thereafter, I would go to church for confession but would never disclose the exact sin I committed.

My wife didn’t know I was a robber either. This is because I stay in Benin Republic where she is permanently based for two months, before returning to Nigeria, where she believed I was working. I usually visited Benin Republic when we wanted to rob and would leave after investing my loot. This is to allow me get hints on the outcome of the operation, in terms of Police investigation.”

Frustration led me into robbery

At a point, he burst into tears, begging for his wife’s forgiveness when she hears about his involvement in crime. He stated that he never envisaged to go into robbery but that frustration forced him into it.

“It all started after my apprenticeship in a pharmaceutical store, back in Owerri, the Imo state capital. My master refused to pay me off. Rather, he claimed that the money he ought to have settled me with was spent on the treatment of my ailing brother few months back. I left in anger and worked as a bus conductor until the engine of the bus got knocked.

I was idle for some months, during which I met my wife who was visiting Nigeria for the first time. I went to Benin Republic with her, where I met some friends who introduced me into robbery. I started by breaking into peoples’ apartments, but it was not lucrative because at times, I won’t get anything from the houses”.

I graduated into Trans- border robbery

In his desperation to eke a living, he returned back to Nigeria last year, where he reportedly met members of another robbery gang. He confessed that he went on operation twice with the new gang but only got between N20,000 and N50,000 , an amount he said was not enough to meet his needs.

Continuing, he said : “During one of our meetings, I told my members that we should step up by going to operate in Benin Republic, since their Police were not as effective as ours. The first operation was in a filling station in Benin Republic. It took me two days to survey the place before I invited members of the gang.

At the end of the operation, we lodged in a hotel there for two days, shared the loot before others left, while I stayed back. Three weeks later, as I was driving around Porto Novo, I saw a micro-finance bank. I studied the terrain that day and came back the next day to continue. I observed that policemen were not stationed there and that only unarmed private guards were there.

Quickly, I came to Nigeria to inform my members and left back for Benin Republic. Three days later, we struck at the bank and made away with N100 million equivalent.

During operation, we don’t use our real names. For instance, my operational name is Ishola. We have names like Mensah, Koffi, Messiah, master, etc. This is to give our victims the impression that we were from Benin Republic.

Premonition

“ Joining a robbery gang is the worst mistake of my life. Had I known, I would have listened to my wife.

Three days before I was nabbed, she told me she dreamed that I was arrested alongside other people for robbery and that I was killed in the process. Since then, she has been fasting and praying against sudden death. But I assured her all was well and that I was not into any dirty deal. If I had known I would have returned to Benin Republic , instead of remaining here in Nigeria.”

I lost everything

Another suspected member of the gang, Ifeanacho Igwe (35), told Crime Guard that he was forced into robbery by one Nnamdi, whom he said invited him over after he requested financial assistance from him. The invitation according to Igwe, turned out to be his worst nightmare.

According to him: “ As a commercial motorcyclist, Nnamdi invited me to take him to a location, promising to give me some money I earlier requested for.

That was in 2011 But on reaching the location at Alakija bus-stop, it turned out to be a robbery operation scene. I couldn’t turn back because it was late and I was afraid they could kill me. I had no option than to play along.

They succeeded in collecting N85 million from a victim and at the end I got N25 million. Since then, I cut off totally from them.

I lost everything I used that money on; I bought a new truck for N14 million and a commercial bus , including a sports utility vehicle for my personal use. I used the rest to renovate my mother’s house and support my siblings’ education.

Since that robbery operation my entire life has gone from bad to worse. I gave the truck out to a driver to use for transportation purpose.

While on a business trip to the eastern part of the country, it rammed over someone before it somersaulted into a river, with goods worth several millions of naira. As if that was not enough, I am in the police net for a crime committed four years ago. My past sins have caught up with me,” he stated in an emotion- laden voice.

Real Madrid Extend La Liga Lead after Comeback Win Over Sociedad.

Real Madrid came back from a goal down to beat Real Sociedad 4-1 and surge clear at the summit of the La Liga standings.

James Rodriguez and Sergio Ramos both scored to pull Carlo Anceloti’s side back from a 1st-minute Aritz Elustondo strike before Karim Benzema twice scored in the second period to wrap up victory and send the host four points clear of Bacelona, who host Villarreal on Sunday.

David Moyes’ Sociedad have now suffered two defeats in their last six league outings and are 11th in the table, six points clear of the drop zone.

Sociedad drew the first blood with an Aritz Elustondo headed goal after only 38 seconds but James Rodriguez planted home an excellent header from a Marcelo cross to restore parity in the 3rd minute.

The Los Blancos, who were without the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo, pushed for a lead goal with Gareth Bale twice going close before Sergio Ramos struck five minutes to the break.

The Spaniard latched on to a loose ball in the 18 yard to smash in his sixth goal of the campaign.

Bale threw caution to the wind again before the break with the goal yawning for the ball before eventually turning provider for Karim Benzema in the 51st minute, setting up the Frenchman who found the bottom corner with his left-foot effort.

The third goal added bite to the Spanish league leaders’ game and they were chewing a fourth goal 25 minutes later, when Benzema received Isco’s pass to complete his brace, poking into the top corner. Benzema has now scored against Sociedad in their last four meetings and boats of 17 goals in all competitions.

At A Loss For Words: 3 Ways To Say What’s In Your Heart On Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day is a day of love. But why does it stress so many people out? It used to stress me out before I learned to relax and understand that there is no way to mess up expressing love to your loved ones (as long as you are being thoughtful and considerate and it comes from the heart.) I had to throw that caveat out there because you don’t feel very loved when someone gives you something for Valentine’s Day out of a sense of obligation.

But when the gift comes from your heart, there is no way to go wrong.

So here are 3 ways that I’ve learned to relax and say what’s in my heart on Valentine’s Day.

1. Pick up a phone and call my loved ones.

Nothing says I love you more than “you.” If you can’t actually visit all of your loved ones on Valentine’s Day, then give them a phone call and let them know you are thinking about them.

You don’t need an elaborate speech. Just let them know that you are thinking about them and they will feel the love. So, don’t forget to call your mother, father, siblings, or best friends and wish them a Happy Valentine’s Day.

2. Nothing says I love you more than food!

You all know that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. And when the food is actually prepared by you, then you are literally putting the icing on the cake (pun intended.) Bake some cookies, cupcakes, or prepare your loved one’s favorite meal.

This is how I express I love you to my kids, I bake them their favorite treats.

3. Put your heart to paper!

Sometimes it can be very difficult to say exactly how you are feeling when it comes to that special someone. If you’re good at expressing what’s in your heart, then put your feelings on paper. But if you’re not, then there’s nothing wrong with finding that perfect Hallmark Card that expresses exactly what’s in your heart. My husband is the best card “picker outer” there is …LOL. When I read his cards, I feel like I’m getting exactly what’s in his heart.

Share your love this Valentine’s Day. Find Valentine’s Day cards to express your feelings to the love of your life, best friend, child and more.

Remember, expressing what’s in your heart isn’t about the money you spend or any grand gestures. It’s more about your intent and being considerate.

That’s a lesson that our 8 year old daughter has taught me.

9 Presidential Candidates May Step Down To Support Pres. Jonathan.

Nine of the 14 candidates cleared by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) for the presidential election have begun crucial talks with the Candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Goodluck Jonathan, on the possibility of stepping down for him.

The collaboration meeting is being anchored on behalf of Jonathan by the National Unity Group (NUG), one the support groups canvassing for his re-election, reports Nigerian Tribune.

Though the identities of the candidates and their political parties remain unknown, it was gathered that the meeting held in Abuja, was adjourned till today for the candidates to brief their different political parties.

After today’s final meeting, the nine candidates will make their decisions to step down from the race and team up with President Jonathan, reports Nigerian Tribune, citing a competent source at the meeting.

National Secretary of NUG, who is also the National Vice-Chairman of the PDP (South-South), Dr Cairo Ojougboh, confirmed the development on Saturday. According to him, the meeting with the nine presidential candidates was with the aim of collaborating with President Jonathan and it was cordial and fruitful.

“We are still incubating the process. What has happened today is very encouraging. We made appreciable progress. They have gone back to discuss with their political parties. The core of the meeting is collaboration for the unity and progress of the country.

“For now, it will not be proper to start naming the nine candidates involved.”

Pictures From APC/Buhari Campaign In Ilorin

Sorry this is coming a bit late. The crowd yesterday was tumultuous and massive, didn't know people were that much in Ilorin.

I do hope all the people I saw have their PVCS and on the day of election they will come out and vote for their respective parties the way they turned out today.

Though there were some issues with touts fighting and jostling for poles and removing campaign paraphernalia guess the rally was a success.

Dear men, is this true?

Dr Laitan who writes a lot of sexology blog articles, says no matter how horrible the vagina tastes, once an aroused man is down there doing his thing, he doesn't really notice...

"Don't worry, no matter how horrible the vagina tastes, a horny man's brain is already rewired so that he doesn't even notice, his Mr Young is in control at the time"

Is it true, dear men?

Read This!! Things A Lady Shouldn’t Do In The Presence Of A Man.

• Farting In Our Presence

Men hate this to the core, they may pretend not to but they really hate when you do it in their presence. If you doubt me, go and ask a man whom you don’t know to tell you what he thinks of a lady who fart or always fart in front of him.

• Eating too much

Whenever you Ladies are in our Presence please try to control your eating habits. Not that we’re too broke to buy you Food but eating without Class just because your indoors is disgusting to say the least!

• Washing of your undies (panties)

Please try to reduce the amount of times you wash your undies in our presence. Forget that popular slang which tends to say that when a man loves you, he can even wash your undies, we’re not that cool with seeing someone else’s undies!

• Talking too dirty

Please, have control of things you say in our presence. Don’t be too naughty when it comes to your language except you want to remain a GIRLFRIEND FOR LIFE!!!!!

• Laughing excessively

Control the length you laugh in front of us. When we’re not around, you can laugh and bring down the roof if you wish. I was talking to a lady and she laughed so loud that she didn’t know when she polluted.

• Always watching movies

If your a Nollywood addict please, for the sake of not receiving any RED CARD, stop giving all your time to once your man is around. We need total concentration when we are talking to you

• Fighting

Never you fight in front of your man, he may feel that one day you will fight his mother.

• i Too Know attitude

Its very annoying when you always act like you know everything. When we argue about sports, romance, friends etc its cool for you to let us win sometimes as it would do you no harm than try to make sure you POV is the most correct even when its not.

Ways Girls Indirectly Beg For BIS Subscription Via Their BBM Status. (Must Read)

If you are the type that chats on BBM, you will understand what am saying. If want to learn some tricks on how to be cunny, simply meet one of your sisters and she will teach you because girls are naturally cunny. Some of them always claim to be wise, they usually don’t come out open and express what they want but will always do it indirectly using signs such as when they need s3x, when they need money, when they like someone, they also indirectly ask for BIS subscription too.

Below are some of the things they usually write on their status when their BIS expires and need someone to help them subcribe.

1.WILL BE OFFLINE FOR LONG:

This is a trickish way of forcing you to ask her why will you be offline for long. Initially, she will pretend not to tell you.

Guy: Dear, why do want to be offline for long?

Girl: My dear, never mind, its personal.

Now the guy will claim to be a good friend or caring or to show concern and persist to know why without knowing he is actually entering into into trouble.

2.WHO CARES ABOUT ME:

When she asks this question, her intention is to induce converstaions and some guys will be like…Baby, you know I care about you. She will now smile because you have entered the net. The next question is…I know you do but can you proof it? The guy will respond ofcourse, just tell me anything you want.

Thats when she will now chip-in what she actually wants without you knowing. To the guy, he is proofing but to the girl he is not proofing, he is subcribing for her because she is not interested in whatever you claim to be proofing but her BIS.

3.NOT NOW:

This is another indirect way of asking for BIS subcription because when she writes it, some of those guys who have been chyking her for sex or maybe for love will be like…baby whats the problem @your status? She will first complain how silly android is in melting down someone’s MB, she will say it in such angry mood that she just subcribed N2000 for MB last week and its almost finished, sometimes she will blame it on her sisters and end up saying that the worse is right now, she doesnt have a dime to subcribe now. In that way, you the chyker have been told to do something indirectly and as a chyker, you will be like..Oh, sorry about that, I will see what I can do..which network? She will now say…Thank you darling, you are so nice and sends a hugging and kissing smiley. Your response will be…Welcome baby, its my pleasure.

4.DAMN BROKE:

This is the one they all do both for BIS or when they need money from chykers or their boy friends.

This one is obvious, you dont need to ask someone with such status what does she want. Some guys will start sending encouraging words like…dear, take it easy its just for a while. Some guys will be like…My dear, its every where o @your status. People like us will pretend not to see it. But believe me, there are many that will stil respond and say…Dear, lets talk about your status.

Every other message entering will remain “delivered” and not “Read” because she is now busy with you and its only messages from people like you that need to be read, others are stingy.

5.NEED TO CHANGE NETWORK:

She writes she needs to change network so that someone or people will ask her why and believe me, people or someone will surely ask. And you know as someone who needs to change to another network for browsing will need to subcribe it. She will give you many reasons why wants to change which may or may not be true but at the end she will also add…but I have a problem. You will definitely ask what the problem is and thats when she will make her intentions known to you in polite way as if her status isnt all about that her intention. Wise guys will tell you, hmmm…I think its better you manage that network until the BIS expires.

6.PUTS A CRYING OR SAD SMILEY:

When a girl puts such faces on her status, the chykers and the boy friend (s) will start asking questions. She will first try to put you in a defensive situation by first telling that there is no need telling you because you might not help or that she doesnt want to bother you with her problem but why did she have to put that face there when she wants to carter for her problems alone? Believe me, some guys dont like challanges especially someone who has been finding a way to show you that he likes you.

Immediately you say what the problem is, he will try to proof you wrong.
