APC Raises Alarm Over Withdrawal Of Customs, Immigration Personnel From Border

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over a strange directive ordering the withdrawal of Customs, Immigration and other security personnel from the country’s border posts in Kebbi and Katsina States, wondering what purpose such a directive was meant to serve.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the verbal directive led to the total withdrawal of the stated personnel from the border posts in the two states, leaving the posts unmanned.

It wondered who gave the order and for what purpose, and asked the Federal Government to immediately tell Nigerians what happened.

”It will not be enough for the government to tell Nigerians that it is not aware of such a development, because that will be more egregious than what happened in the first instance, and will amount to the government not being able to secure the country’s borders.

”It is also necessary to tell Nigerians how many states were affected by such orders. We were only made aware of two, but there is the possibility that the directive could have been more widespread,” APC said.

The party said with no one left to man the borders in the affected areas for as long as the directive lasted, which is yet to be determined, anything could have happened.

”Who gave the verbal order? Was the order given verbally so that there will be no evidence of it? Were the Customs, Immigration and other security personnel ordered away to allow the free entry of contraband goods, election materials, weapons, terrorists or what?

”Even with our borders manned, Boko Haram terrorists have been marauding freely along the border areas. Will this illegal order not worsen the security situation, at a time the government is giving Nigerians the assurance that it will deal Boko Haram a mortal blow within six weeks?” it queried.

APC said the development, coming a day after leaflets were distributed in Gombe asking people to stay away from polling booths on election days, raises more fears over the ongoing scheming by the Jonathan Administration and the PDP to ensure the rescheduled elections do not hold.

”In pursuit of this objective, these band of desperate people will do anything, including threatening the very existence of the country. Nigerians must not allow them,” the party said.

What Strange Things Have You Ever Found In Your Food?

I came back from church boiled rice and spaghetti with an egg, dished out my food and quickly pulled off my clothes and balanced to eat. I had already eaten a quarter of the food when I noticed something black beside my meat. I pushed the meat aside to find out what it was, low and behold I saw a giant spider beside the meat. I almost threw up.

So nairalanders what strange things have you seen or mistakenly eaten in your food?

Pastor Paul Adefarasin Criticizes Pastors Associating With Politicians

Pastor Paul Adefarasin of the House on the Rock Church, has criticised pastors in Nigeria who are neck-deep in politics, joining political campaigns.

Pastor Adefarasin made his feeling known yesterday during his sermon in church. he said politicians this year are very desperate with an intention of promoting violence, stating that men of God shouldn't be endorsing such political candidates or making statement that shows allegiance to any political party or individual..

He said he's no supporter of any party but has his own preference which he refused to divulge, before announcing his own initiative called United for Peace in Nigeria (UPIN) - an initiative to promote peace instead of violence in Nigeria.

UPDATE: Ex-President Obasanjo Finally Dumps PDP, Tears Membership Card In Public.

Few days after he accused President Goodluck Jonathan of orchestrating a tenure elongation plot, which he dubbed the “Gbagbo treatment”, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo has dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying he is no longer interested in partisan politics as he is now a statesman.

Although this is a developing story, there are reports the ex-president allegedly tore his PDP membership card in public.

You may recall that the Presidency and PDP had made various attempts to appease Obasanjo to no avail, which led to speculations that the ex-president may be suspended for anti-party activities.

Perhaps his dumping of the ruling party is a pre-emptive move.

Details later…

***UPDATE***

According to Daily Trustreport, Obasanjo handed over his PDP membership card to the leader of his Ward 11, in Abeokuta North local government, Alhaji Surajudeen Oladunjoye and instructed him to tear it.

Oladunjoye, who led about 350 members of the ward on a fact-finding mission to the ex-president’s residence, tore the card into shreds to the admiration of the party followers, some of whom also tore their cards in solidarity.

Addressing members of the press in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Mr. Obasanjo said if his involvement in partisan politics would stop him from having a better Nigeria, then he is ready to sacrifice membership of the PDP and become a statesman.

The former Nigerian leader, who was responding to questions on rumours to expel him from the ruling party, directed his aide to get his membership card and few minutes after he was given, threw it away, declaring that “if this is why we cannot have the Nigeria we desire, I am no longer part of this”.

Obasanjo ruled Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 for two terms of eight years on the platform of PDP. He had previously led the country as a military head of state from 1976 to 1979 before he voluntarily handed-over power to a civilian president, Alhaji Shehu Shagari.

Obasanjo Is An Incurable Cancer Nigeria Is Plagued By – Gov. Fayose Says.

Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayoseis unhappy with former president Olusegun Obasanjo‘s recent controversial remarks about President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a statement released yesterday by Fayose’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media,Lere Olayinka, Fayose described Obasanjo as an incurable cancer Nigeria is plagued by.

Here is the statement, as reported by The Sun:

Obasanjo is a cancer that may never get cured in a lifetime.

The moment Obasanjo is not the one controlling a house, he will want the house pulled down, but this time around, he has failed.

Obasanjo has always benefited from the misfortune of others and he is living with the impression that he is the wisest person in the whole world. When Murtala Mohammed was murdered in 1976, Obasanjo was the beneficiary.

In 1993, he said the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, the late ChiefMKO Abiola, was not the Messiah Nigeria needed. Instead of Obasanjo to join the clamour for the actualisation of Abiola’s mandate, Obasanjo was canvassing for an Interim National Government, which he schemed to head.

MKO Abiola died in detention in 1997 and Obasanjo became the beneficiary of his (Abiola) death.

Despite the fact that it was the blood of MKO Abiola that Obasanjo marched on to power, not even a street was named after Abiola throughout Obasanjo’s eight years as president.

Today, Obasanjo is fighting President Jonathan, the man who has done what he failed to do for Abiola, the Yoruba people and Nigerians as a whole, when he was president for eight years; simply because he does not want anyone to equal his record as Nigeria’s longest serving president.

President Jonathan has made it impossible for Obasanjo to run his presidency for him and for this reason, he is supporting Buhari, hoping that he will be the one to nominate ministers for Buhari if he becomes president.

Men Of God Who Join In Political Campaigns Are Not Wise – Pastor Paul Adefarasin Says.

Founder and Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock churches, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has slammed men of God, who are part of political campaigns ahead of the 2015 elections. The 53-year-old was reviewing last week’s screening of the movie Selma in the church.

Speaking before his Sunday sermon yesterday, Adefarasin told his congregation: “I must say to you that pastors who join in these political campaigns are not wise.”

The articulate preacher also insisted that “House on the Rock is not a partisan organisation or a political platform”, while maintaining that the pulpit is not the best avenue to take a stand or advise members on which party or candidates they must vote for.

“I don’t belong to APC and PDP. I don’t belong to any political party. I belong to Jesus party. I am interested in God’s agenda in Nigeria,” he added.

He also flayed the manner in which some of the political campaigns have been conducted, describing the desperation from the two leading parties as “sad and sorry”.

OMG!!! Meet the 63-Year Old Woman That Sleeps With 100 Men A Year. (See Photo)

Marie Calvert was a virgin when she married her husband Barry at the age of 28, but when she took up swinging as a profession, everything changed…

35 years later, the woman who is now 63, has slept with 3,000 men and all this because of a raunchy magazine left in their kitchen by her husband:

“Until the age of 28, I’d only been with him and we had a terrific sex life, but one day he brought home a swingers’ magazine he’d picked up from a workmate.

“He sort of joked we should try it; I told him not to be daft, and he never mentioned it again.

“But I kept looking at the mag and imagining how fun it might be. Eventually I told him we should give it a go. He looked like a kid at Christmas.”

“It’s not natural to stick with one sexual partner for 60 years.

Life is about experimenting and experiencing, and that’s what we do.”

“It was the night I slept with 14 men that I first started to try to work out how many partners I’ve been with. The truth is, I’m not sure. My conservative estimate is about 100 guys a year for more than three decades.”

Mrs Jonathan Mourns Death Of Bayelsa Women In Motor Accident.

Wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, on Sunday condoled with the government and people of Bayelsa State over the death of some prominent women from the state in a ghastly motor accident in Rivers State.

Although the two-paragraph statement by her spokesperson, Ayo Adewuyi, did not give the circumstances surrounding the death of the women, which includes wife of the Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government, Elizabeth Oguru, an online news medium claimed that they met their end after a visit to the First Lady.

The statement read, “The First Lady, Dame Dr. Patience Faka Jonathan wishes to commiserate with the Government and people of Bayelsa State, over the death of some prominent Bayelsa women in a motor accident around Elele in Rivers State, on their way to Bayelsa.

“The First Lady prays the Almighty God to grant the souls of the deceased eternal rest and the families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”.

According to the online report, the accident occurred in Ahoada on the East-West Road in Rivers State, when the tyre of an oncoming Toyota Sienna exploded and the car rammed into the coaster bus carrying the women. The bus, which bore the inscription: “Women For Change Initiative”, an NGO floated by Mrs. Jonathan, burst into flames immediately.

It gave the names of others who died in the accident to include Consider Amadi, a former Woman Leader in Ogbia; Clara Abila, a grassroots politician; Immaculate Amasimua, a former Commissioner in the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission; Zimbra Goma, a former Commissioner for Women Affairs in Bayelsa State; and Hon. Ruby Benjamin, a former member of the House of Assembly representing Brass Constituency 1 of Bayelsa State.

They were said to be returning from Port Harcourt in Rivers State where they had gone on a visit to Mrs. Jonathan.

Your Lives Are Too Precious, Don’t Sacrifice It For Cluesless APC – Akpabio Tells A/Ibom Youth.

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Godswill Akpabio, has asked youths in the state not to sacrifice their lives for the All Progressives Congress, saying that their lives were too precious to be wasted.

The governor gave the advice at the weekend during the campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

“Do not allow anyone to deceive you into sacrificing your lives for them. No Akwa Ibom child should go and sacrifice their lives for APC”, he said.

Akpabio also urged the youths to cast their votes for those who have their interests at heart and who would empower them through industrialisation of the state.

The governor claimed that the PDP gubernatorial candidate was fished out by God and that the same God would use him to change the lives of the people of the state.

He said, “God has fished out Emmanuel and no man can touch him. You should all vote for our President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, for second term in office as our president so that he will continue with the transformation he has started.

“Emmanuel is the right man to be the next governor of the state because he has God’s support”.

Akpabio, who also thanked the people of Etim Ekpo LGA for the support the people had extended to him in the last seven-and-a-half years, assured them that the next governor would continue with the “uncommon transformations” he had started in the state.

On his part, Emmanuel assured the people that, if voted into power, his administration would ensure good governance.

He added that the next administration under his watch would focus more on empowering the women and youths in the state.

“For the fact that you all show me love, the next administration under my watch is set for the youths, women and students by providing employment, industrialisation and quality education, among others. I need your support to continue with the development of the state”, he said.

Photos: Obasanjo Tears his PDP Membership Card

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday publicly tore his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership card at his Abeokuta home, saying he no longer belongs to any party. He said he was not preparing to join any other party and would wish to remain an elder statesman.

Obasanjo has been embroiled in a face-off with President Goodluck Jonathan. On Saturday, he accused the president of attempting to plunge the country into crisis.

“President Jonathan has a grand plan to ensure that he wins the election by hook or crook and if he loses, he scuttles it and brings chaos and confusion in the whole country,” he had said. “He is trying to play Gbagbo, who postponed election in his country until he saw that he would win. When election finally held, it was inconclusive and he refused to hand over after losing the run-off.”
