...And they also Attacked Jonathan in this Advert

A political group, Defenders Of Democracy placed this advert on The Nations newspapers, saying he should stop comparing himself to the likes of Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, Lee Kwan Yew and Marting Luther King, that he belongs to the likes of Idi Amin, Mobutu Sese Seko, Robert Mugabe.

When will all these end? Why attack each other with expensive newspaper adverts. Our politicians should just stop behaving like children.

How Heart Disease Killed My Sister - President Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan hinted yesterday, the ordeal his late younger sister, Mrs Nancy Jonathan-Olei underwent as a result of a heart-related disease before she died.

Speaking at the funeral service held at the St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Otuoke, Bayelsa State for his late sister, Jonathan said God was kind to his sister during her regular medical sojourns to India from the time he was deputy governor of Bayelsa State.

He said, “Nancy is my immediate younger sister though not of the same mother. I was very sad when she died because I knew she had been passing through pains for a very long time. Sometimes, I felt God had been really kind to her.

She started developing problems with her heart when I was deputy governor, then I started asking questions. I asked my personal physician where we could treat her, that she had problems with her aortic valve, the valves circulating blood to the heart. My doctor told me the nearest place to treat her was Ghana.

So I said we have so many teaching hospitals in Nigeria and none can attempt to work on a human heart? I was worried. But today, I am happy that University of Ibadan is handling open heart surgery.

We battled with her health and she was taken to India on and on and for over three years, she has been down. When the immediate younger brother died, she could not even attend the burial.

He added that it was worth celebrating if a Christian attains the age of 70 years before passing on.

The body of the late Nancy was moved from the Otuoke Comprehensive Hospital Mortuary to her residence in Otuoke and thereafter to the Dame Patience Jonathan Square for service of songs before it was interred after the church service.

How To Recover Deleted Photos On Iphone And Android Phones

Many times we have accidentally deleted photos from our phones, and no matter how hard we try, we just can't seem to get them back.

Painful, right?

Now there are ways to undo such errors on iPhones or Android phones. Apple has made photo-recovery easy with iOS8, but as for recovering deleted photos from Android phones and memory cards, you'll need a third-party application to do that.

If you are using an iPhone or an Android phone, these tips will help you recover deleted photos from your devices.

However, you need to remember that once you've deleted the pictures or other files, it is safe to not use your device until the data is recovered. This is because, when a picture is deleted it is not erased permanently, but rather it just opens up space for more data. Any operation on your device then —including taking photos — can generate new data and overwrite that space, which would make lost data unrecoverable.

For iPhone:

With the new iOS 8, Apple has made it very easy to recover deleted photos. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Access your Photos App and go into your albums.

Step 2: Scroll to the bottom and tap on "Recently Deleted."

Step 3: In that photo folder you will find all the photos you have deleted within the last 30 days. To recover you simply have to tap the photo you want and press "Recover." You can also press "Delete" to get rid of that photo permanently.

Note: If there's a picture you were looking for that is older than 30 days then you would have to either restore your phone using a saved backup on iTunes or used a third-party photo recovery app.

For Android:

Different apps are now available in the Android market these days to help you recover your lost data. You can try out different apps to see which one works well for you. Here are some recommendations of apps that are very fast and easy to use.

DiskDigger: This app can be downloaded from the Google Play store and installed on your phone. DiskDigger will scan your whole device—including the SD memory card—for deleted files.

Step 1: Access your Google Play store and search for DiskDigger then download and install the app.

Step 2: Open the DiskDigger app and tap "Refresh List" to populate the screen. Once the screen is populated select the "System" folder.

Step 3: After you have selected the folder tap "Scan Device" and the screen will be populated with a list of most recent deleted files. When you see the photo you want to recover simply select it and hit save.

Step 4: The app will then ask you where you want to save the photo and after you pick its destination your photo should appear back in your memory card or phone system.

Kvisoft Data Recovery: If you still can't find your deleted photos by using an app then you can also try desktop apps like Kvisoft Data Recovery, which scans and finds the lost files on your Android device. But, if you want to retrieve the files you'll have to buy the upgrade which costs $70.

Step 1: You'll have to enable USB debugging on your phone, which you can do by going into Settings >Applications >Development >then checking "USB debugging." While you do that make sure that you have launched the program on you PC.

Step 2: Once you have enabled USB debugging and the program is running, go ahead and connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable and select Multimedia/Mobile Device from the program's home screen.

Step 3: After clicking Multimedia/Mobile Device look for your device by name or capacity size and press start.

Step 4: The program will then scan the entire Android device and compile a list of files for you to search through. Once you have selected the files you want to recover you can click "Recovery" and assign where you want those files to be saved.

Wondershare's Dr. Fone for Android: There is another alternative if you don't want to pay, you can use Wondershare's Dr. Fone for Android. However, the desktop program is only available for PC.

Step 1: Connect your device to your computer and launch the program.

Step 2: You'll then have to identify your device and once it's selected you can press "Start."

Step 3: The program will then scan the entire device for lost data and show it to you in organized thumbnails.

Step 4: After you have selected which photos you want to recover you can press "Recover" and assign where you want to save the photos.

Note: These programs should also scan for files in SD memory cards if they are inside the phones, but if you just want to scan the SD card you may also want to try using photo-recovery programs for memory cards. There are several in the market, but one that proves to work is PhotoRec by CGSecurity—and it's free. The program works similar to Dr. Fone and Kvisoft. You just have to launch the program, insert your memory card and scan for files then save them to your computer.

FG’ll Pay Fuel Subsidy For 40 Days – Alison Madueke

Despite the recent reduction in the pump price of petrol from N97 to N87 per litre, the Federal Government has said it will still pay subsidy on the product for the next 40 days.

The government explained that fuel consumed in Nigeria was “heavily subsidised” before the global crunch in crude oil prices, adding that it would take some time before subsidy on the product would stop.

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, while explaining why the pump price of fuel in Nigeria did not reduce as soon as global crude oil prices plummeted, said Nigeria was importing against the global import prices for crude.

She spoke during a Raypower radio programme monitored by our correspondent in Abuja.

Speaking also on the price of diesel, the minister said the product’s price was been decided by market forces as diesel was not regulated by the Federal Government.

“Bear in mind that we will still be covering subsidy cost for at least 40 days for those marketers who had already brought in stock, there should be no issue with distributing the product at the lower price,” the minister said.

The PUNCH reported on Thursday that despite the recent reduction in the pump price of petrol, the government claimed it still pays N2.84 as subsidy on every litre of the product consumed.

Also, the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency, in a statement on Friday, insisted that with the current pump price of N87/litre, the government was still subsidising the pump price of petrol in favour of consumers.

The PPPRA Executive Secretary, Mr. Farouk Ahmed, said the price of crude oil dropped to a point where the open market price of petrol also fell to a level where the government considered it appropriate to relieve some of the burden imposed on Nigerians by the knock-on effect of the dwindling price of crude oil on the economy.

He said the price of crude oil averaged $62 in December, 2014 and dropped to an average of $50 per barrel for the first half of January, 2015.

According to Ahmed, it is after a consistent monitoring of the trend that the government was able to confirm its ability to reduce the pump price of gasoline, commensurate with the amount announced.

He explained that even at the lowest crude oil price of $47.23 recorded on January 16, 2015, the open market price of petrol was about the same as the erstwhile price of N97/litre.

“What this means is that at the new price of N87 per litre, government is still subsidising the pump price of petrol,” Ahmed was quoted in the statement.

On why the price of diesel did not respond to the global crash in crude oil prices considering the fact that the product was not subsidised, Alison-Madueke said diesel was not controlled by the government.

She said, “Therefore you will find that diesel’s response is directly related to the market indices of supply and demand in a free market. It relates directly to whatever cost it is being procured abroad, that is the global prices. So we have no business with that.”

On kerosene and why it was difficult to get the product at the subsidised rate of N50/litre, she said the transportation cost to remote areas coupled with the greed of some marketers were the major reasons why kerosene price was high in many locations.

Alison-Madueke said, “There are unscrupulous marketers everywhere who just put more on top of their products than the actual transportation cost. We have come down hard on them so many times and have sealed some of them. But as you do one, another one comes behind and that is why I appeal to marketers because it is greed and avaricious behaviour that causes this.”

Meanwhile, the government officially commenced its Kero-Correct Scheme on Friday in Abuja. The scheme, according to the Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Joseph Dawha, would ensure the sale of kerosene at the regulated price of N50/litre in filling stations across the country.

A Nairalander's Forensic Analysis Of Buhari's Certificate

MY personanal analysis of Gen Buhari's result as released by premium Times,

Note; i do not represent PDP or work for them, i support them to the extent that i see jonathan as a humble man who says something that people are not taking seriously but is part of the solution to curruption, he says...''The use of modern technologies is a powerful tool to fight corruption'' note that i also aknowledge that these technonogies also has its own demerits of being used to promote curruption.

As the controversy rages on, i invited some of my colleages one of them was a 'forensic Analyst who specialises in detecting forged documents, he circles grey areas on the result document and ask for time, on my own part too i take a carefull look at the enlarged format, to crosscheck those circled areas

Hours later, my friend(name witheld) who was the analyst suggests in his analysis that the document was forged, he used extra softwares on his 'mark' laptop to expose a hidden copy of a document that was carefully embeded in on another document.

if Buhari will be seen as the right man to prosecute criminals that forge bank documents or any other document, he 'Buhari should come out with cleaan hands

My friend who is the Forensic analyst cites 18 good manipulations on Buhari's alleged result released to Prem.Times mag. which i dont really have the time to copy here. he said that he can prove beyond reasonable doubt that it was a forgery ''FREE OF CHARGE' in a court of law.

Man Knocks Out Friend’s Teeth While Arguing Over 2015 Election

Two friends threw decorum to the wind at Old Ojo Road in Agboju area of Lagos State on Thursday when they fought over who becomes the winner of the 2015 presidential election.

A man identified as Chukwuemeka was said to have boasted that come rain or shine, Muhammadu Buhari would win the election, a statement opposed by his friend, Akpan who insisted that President Goodluck Jonathan remains the best material for the plum job.

Chukwuemeka who was said to have attended the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Ajeromi/Ifelodun local government area the fateful day tried in vain to convince Akpan to support the APC.

What was said to be a friendly discussion degenerated into a fight as Akpan allegedly hit Chukwuemeka in the chest.

LEADERSHIP Weekend gathered that Chukwuemeka’s retaliation nearly turned fatal as he gave his opponent a punch across the lips causing his teeth to fall off and a direct punch on the nose, causing him to fall.

An eyewitness, Etim disclosed that, “Akpan fainted and those in the area had to use cold water to revive him. We have been friends for many years and I don’t know why the two friends who knew each other about a decade before I knew them would fight over election that they will not gain much from. As for me, I am not a fanatical supporter of any candidate so I will not fight because of any candidate.’

Ambassador Dumps PDP For APC In Bayelsa

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in

President Goodluck Jonathan’s home state, Bayelsa,

and former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Venezuela,

Ecuador and Colombia, Senator Felix Oboro, on Friday,

officially dumped the PDP for APC.

He was received by the leader of APC and former

governor of the state, Timipre Sylva; state chairman of

the party, Tiwei Orunimighe, and BoT member, Perez

Peretu, among other party stalwarts at a ceremony in

Yenagoa.

Oboro, a founding member of PDP, was also the

Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in the

administration of the first civilian governor of the state,

Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, under which Jonathan

served as deputy governor.

Giving reasons for his defection to APC, Oboro accused

Jonathan of destroying internal democracy in PDP.

“Since Dr. Jonathan became President and leader of

PDP nationwide, there has never been any genuine

congress in any part of the PDP states to elect

candidates to represent the party in any election,” he

said.

He described the Jonathan-led Federal Government as

inept, stressing that it had enthroned “corruption,

insecurity and economic downturn” in Nigeria.

He said: “Under President Jonathan, even a simple

thing like internal democracy in his party has been

destroyed because he ascended the governorship

position through unholy harmonisation and not

democracy.

“As for corruption, insecurity and economic downturn,

Jonathan’s six years as President is now the cause of

these problems the country is talking about.”

He said APC presidential candidate, General

Muhammadu Buhari, has over 90 per cent chances

more than the President across the states in next

month’s elections, stressing that Nigerians see in

Buhari a disciplined leader who would fix the nation’s

problems.

“Our people must join the mainstream and we should

not allow our state to be ostracised. Dr. Jonathan has

no regard for Ijaw people. He has not shown any pride

of being an Ijaw man. The little dividend of democracy

he has brought to the state is for his community,

Otuoke”, said Oboro, who thanked the leaders and

members of APC for accepting him.

In his remarks, Sylva berated the PDP-controlled

Federal Government for its failure to provide stable

power supply and other social amenities it promised

Nigerians, adding that “there is poverty and insecurity

everywhere.”

He said Buhari was in the presidential race “to give

service, fix and clean up the country for us” if elected

on February 14.

The former governor described Oboro as “a major

pillar of PDP,” pointing out that with his defection to

APC, the ruling party “has been unhinged and it is

going to collapse.”

Receiving Oboro into the party, the state chairman,

Tiwei Orunimighe, who handed him a broom, the

party’s symbol, expressed the hope that he would bring

his wealth of political experience to bear on the party.

Wike, Peterside, Princewill Sign US Embassy Brokered Peace Accord.

Ahead of the general elections in Rivers State, three leading governorship candidates in the state, on Thursday pledged to work towards ensuring a violent-free poll next month.

The governorship candidates are: Dr. Dakuku Peterside of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party and Prince Tonye Princewill of the Labour Party.

The candidates signed the peace pact in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Thursday, during a roundtable organized by the United States Embassy in Nigeria in partnership with a group known as Dawn in the Creeks Board of Advisors.

Wike, Peterside and Princewill agreed that they and their supporters promised to promote peaceful participation in the forthcoming general elections and accept the outcome of the exercise.

They also assured that they would only seek redress for any perceived injustice through legitimate channels.

“I (name), do hereby pledge on behalf of myself and my supporters, to promote peaceful participation in the 2015 elections and beyond. I further pledge to accept the outcomes of the elections, whatever they may be and to seek redress for any perceived injustice through legal and legitimate channels”, the three candidates recited in unison at the occasion.

The PDP governorship flag bearer specifically stated that he and his party were committed to a peaceful poll that would be void of violence, maintaining that peace was necessary for the growth of the state.

Similarly, Peterside, who took his turn to speak, said apart from election periods, peace was also crucial to the unity of the state.

In his remark, Princewill described the peace agreement as apt and essential, even as he noted that any election conducted in an atmosphere of violence always had its negative impact on the state or the country.

Princewill reiterated his party’s commitment to a peaceful, free and fair elections next month, stressing that a violent-free poll will foster the development of the state.

However, the United States ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle, who spoke earlier, explained that peace accord became necessary as a result of his country’s interest in violent-free elections.

Entwistle, therefore, called on stakeholders in the state to show sincerity in their declaration for peace before, during and after the elections.

Apart from politicians, among signatories to the peace pact were clerics from the Christian and Islamic faiths and non-governmental organisations.

WASC Result Saga: PDP Have Exhausted Their Lies Against Buhari, Says Adams Oshiomhole.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State says the Peoples’ Democratic Party has run out of lies and is fishing for new ones having failed with the School Certificate lie they tried to pin on the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Speaking during an inspection of road projects, which culminated in a campaign at the Egor market in Upper Siluko area of Benin, the state capital, Oshiomhole said: “I’m happy that you people are following what is happening and one young man said even Buhari doesn’t have a school certificate, if it’s just a NEPA bill he presents as certificate it’s enough and the people will vote for him. Another said the other man has a doctorate in Zoology, but we can’t even get fish on our table.

“The truth is that everybody is tired.

Today in this market, I’m sure you don’t have light. We have provided the electric poles and the transformer but they will not give us light.

So the only solution is, after sixteen years of PDP, they have exhausted their lies.

We have to bring General Buhari because we want a leader with courage, when he says I will do, he will do it. Not a leader that will promise during campaigns but will disappear after the campaigns.

“Today in Edo, they have enriched a few individuals, and they are telling us they are going to bring a lot of money to buy our votes. When they bring the money collect it, it’s the money they stole from you, but we will not vote for them”.

The governor called on the people of the state, who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC) to do so by going to the nearest INEC office at the Local Government Area so as to be able to vote for APC candidates at all levels.

Spokesman of Egor Market, Mr. Egbon Edowonyi, said “When PDP was in power, they could not fix this road. They referred to it as waterside and blamed it on what they called mermaid.

But you came, we do not know how you removed the mermaid and got the road fixed”.

On his part, Mr. Elvis Osamede said, “What the PDP is trying to do even at the Federal level in relation to Buhari certificate, if at the end of the day, it is only NEPA bill that General Buhari has, Egor people are ready to vote for APC. All we are clamoring for is change.

“The people of Egor want to restate their commitment to vote for APC because since you came, we have been able to know the difference between light and darkness. We do not need to be told, it is quite obvious that those people that need change will support change in the political space of Nigeria”.

Osamede further stated that what is happening in Edo today is unprecedented as the people of Egor have been liberated from the shackles of the previous PDP government. “Right from Ring Road to Egor, you can see that the road is at the point of completion.

This is the handwork of Governor Oshiomhole.

“Despite the manipulation of the agents of darkness, the people of Egor remain resolute to support the government of Comrade Oshiomhole”, he stressed.

In his response, Oshiomhole told them, “the truth is that PDP never wanted to work so they find excuse to take the money without doing the job and today you have seen by yourselves what is happening and very soon, the road will be asphalted with street light. This will enable those who want to trade at night to carry out their trading activities”.

Boko Haram Insurgency Overshadowing My Achievements – Pres. Jonathan.

President Goodluck Jonathan says his administration has achieved a lot but his achievements are being overshadowed by the activities of Boko Haram insurgents.

He said this at the palace of the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwan Suleiman Adamu, on Thursday, shortly before addressing a political rally in the state capital.

Jonathan, however, assured that his administration would soon put an end to insurgency in Nigeria.

“When we moved round in 2011, we got massive support from you and since then, we have been working hard to justify your support.

Insha Allahu, we will also succeed this time.

“The unfortunate Boko Haram excesses are taking attention away from our numerous achievements.

Everybody wants security, everybody wants to be safe and to be able to move freely.

“I am, therefore, assuring you that we will bring the situation to a reasonable degree and will eventually end it very soon.

“We have worked very hard to improve agriculture and ended decades of fertiliser scam. We want Nigerian farmers to crop three times a year.

“We are thinking of different options to fully diversify our economy due to the fall in the global price of oil and Bauchi is one of the states we will tap into its solid mineral potentials,” Jonathan said.

In his response, the emir commended Jonathan for his respect and love for traditional institution. He also praised him for steps taken to tackle insurgency in the North-East. He expressed hope that the school girls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents in Chibok, Borno State, would soon be rescued.

He also commended the president over his commitment to free and fair elections, as well as the Abuja peace accord he recently endorsed with other presidential candidates. He noted that the accord would encourage Nigerians to embrace peace before, during and after next month’s general election.

Ekiti To Ban Places Of Worship From Demanding HIV Test Before Joining Couples In Marriage

The Ekiti State Government would soon promulgate a law banning places of worship from compelling prospective couples to go for HIV/AIDS test before conducting marriages.

The law would also make it an offence to reveal results of such test to other parties before the tested person knows his or her status.

The Project Manager of the State Action Committee on AIDS, Dr. Charles Doherty, made this known in Ado Ekiti on Thursday during the commemoration of year 2014 Worlds Aids Day and awareness programme with the theme: “Stigma ends with me”.

Doherty said a bill to that effect was already before the state House of Assembly and may soon be passed into law.

“The bill is already in the state House of Assembly to be passed into law. It proposes to ban places of worship from demanding HIV test from prospective couples.

“It is illegal for any individual or organization, especially religious bodies, to mandate people to go for HIV/AIDs screening exercise. The results should be given to the individual concerned. A married couple should be treated individually”.

Doherty urged people not to be scared of going for HIV/AIDS screening as drugs were available for the treatment.

Also speaking at the occasion, wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose, who led the awareness walk, advocated for increased support for AIDS patients.

She said, “Ekiti State government is not unmindful of the barriers to the treatment and prevention of the disease some of which include stigmatisation, lack of proper medication and support for awareness creation, among others.

“The state has been supporting the various agencies attending to cases of AIDS/HIV and will continue to do so”, she added.

No Basis To Postpone February Polls – INEC

Amid calls by some stakeholders, with the most recent coming from the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) that dates for the general election in February should be postponed, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared that there was no operational reason, including the concerns over the distribution of the PVCs, to postpone the polls.

The commission further added that it was not aware of concerns by the presidency over complaints of the distribution of Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs.

The NSA, yesterday, during a talk show at Chatham House, the London think-tank group, said he had discussed the issue of postponement of the polls with the INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, adding that a delay within the time frame allowed by the law will not be a bad idea.

“That is what we are encouraging at the moment”, Dasuki said, noting that INEC had been able to distribute 30 million PVCs but had an outstanding 30 million others to hand out.

But, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC chairman, Kayode Idowu, said: “We have not received any official or unofficial communication to that effect. From the point of our operation, the commission has not seen any good basis to postpone the election”.

Mr. Idowu, however, pointed out that information available to the commission with regards to what transpired at the London meeting, was contrary to what the NSA was quoted to have said.

He stated that the claims that 30 million PVCs were uncollected are not true, noting that there has been accelerated distribution and collection of cards since the decentralisation of the process.

According to the INEC chairman’s spokesman, rough estimates indicate that the collection process has surpassed 70 percent since the decentralisation of the distribution of the cards at the ward level.

“Where are the 30 million cards that have not been collected? Statistics are cold; they are not flighty. By the commission’s rough estimation, even though we have not collected the raw data from the states, we have cases of over 26,000 PVCs collected in states in a space of three days, and this could be the trend across the country.

“I can assure you that the percentage is much higher than 70 percent.

“What we do is that immediately the cards come in, we move them to the states. We just moved four million cards recently”, Idowu explained.

He assured that before the end of the month most of the PVCs would have been distributed and collected.
