Actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde – “I Used To Preach Inside ‘Molue”

We’ve heard the grass to grace stories of a lot of celebrities in Nigeria, but I bet you haven’t heard Omotola’s version.

The highly respected veteran actress made the cover of TW Magazine’s latest issue.

She talks about a lot of things and how she became a born again Christian at the tender age of 15.

Read excerpts from her interview below: –

On her dreams in Nollywood:We were coming from a place where it was disgraceful to be an actor. My first plan was to earn money to help my brothers.

When I achieved that, my dream was to make this job a success so much that people would respect me and I would be proud of myself. It was just to earn the respect of Nigerians.

On people seeing her as headstrong and arrogant:I realized I was different and it made me a target. A long time ago, when it was not popular to do so, I demanded that they pack my food on set. And they said I was proud. I tried to fit in, in the past, but after a while I feel I don’t have to be apologetic. I asked, ‘Why am I too fast?’ God told me, if that is how I made you, then don’t apologise for it.

I have always demanded high standards, I have realized that I have the grace and energy to do it. But people do not understand the whole purpose until I am done.

On her husband:I am favoured. He trusts my decisions. He knows I am not irresponsible even if I say so myself. I consider every decision carefully. He may have reservations but that is human, and that is not going to be a deal breaker.

On infidelity:Men cheat for different reasons and women cheat for different reasons. For women, it usually happens when the spouse does not show care and love. It is not really the money. I don’t lack care; how much can you possibly give me more than what I already have? Also, you have to think about what you are going to lose; your home, respect and integrity. When a woman cheats, then she really wants to cheat and it will be quite difficult to catch her at it because women are good planners.

On her religious beliefs:I gave my life to Christ when I was 15 years and I used to preach inside ‘molue’.

It is important that you find Christ and find him early. It is for your good. The fact that I found Christ early helped me to be focused. I always rely on God for direction (even when I wanted to get married), I just have to find peace with it and then go for it. I really did not indulge in those things that could have exposed me because I wasn’t interested. I don’t like clubbing. Even when I was single, you would have to pay me to go clubbing.

On her music career:I finished my second album since 2010 but it is not yet out contrary to insinuations. I am not trying to be a Tiwa Savage. My career is like a Barbara Streisand kind of career. I said I would bring out an album every five years. The next step for me is to have my own entertainment place where you can listen to my music, watch my movies and experience everything about Omotola.

On the next 20 years:In the next 20 years, I am hoping that I will be alive and God will grant me good health. I hope to be a sexy grandmother as well.

Expose Your Breasts, Thighs, Wear Earrings, Get Expelled, – Polytechnic Ibadan Rector Warns.

The Polytechnic Ibadan has said it would expel students who wear clothes that expose their sensitive body parts as it joins other tertiary institutions in the war against indecent dressing.

Students ofThe Polytechnic, Ibadan have been warned to shun indecent dressing or risk outright expulsion from the institution.

The polytechnic’s Rector, Professor Olatunde Fawole, gave the warning at the institution’s 2014/2015 matriculation ceremony held at its New Conference Centre last Thursday, Tribune reports.

Fawole said any form of misconduct by the students will not be tolerated, harping on indecent dressing.

He told the newly matriculated students to observe the institution’s standard dress code for both male and female students.

The Rector said dresses that expose sensitive body parts like breasts and thighs are not allowed.

“As the institution frowns at negative mode of dressing by female students, it also disallows the male students from wearing earrings and wearing of hair or any suggestive dresses that could corrupt the system,” Fawole said.

He said the punishment for defaulting will be stern, including expulsion.

“If any of you flouts this dress code, you will be warned as a first-time offender, while subsequent defiance could fetch you a suspension for one or two semesters or even outright expulsion.”

The students were also advised to shun activities and associations that will tarnish their image and that of their families and the institution.

CaroVibes gathered that 6,000 candidates were offered admission, out of the total 60,000 the polytechnic received.

A recent trend has seen the management of institutions across the country going tough against cultism and indecent dressing amongst students.

MUST READ: Scientists Reveal How It Feels To Be Dead – And It’s Pretty Scary.

What does it feel like to die? It seems that scientists can finally give an answer to this question!

The biggest ever study dedicated to near-death experiences found some truly disturbing results from 2,000 people whose hearts have stopped. When seeing a light and a tunnel may be the popular perception of death, there are many other very different strange experiences.

*.Only 9% had any sort of near death experience;

*.Just 2% had visual ‘out of body’ experiences;

*.Nearly half of patients – 46% – remembered some of their experiences;

Dream-like or hallucinatory scenarios that the patients experienced were categorised into eight major themes:

*.Fear

*.Seeing animals or plants

*.Bright light

*.Violence and persecution

*.Deja-vu

*.Seeing family

*.Recalling events post-cardiac arrest

*.Feeling of peace or pleasantness

What concerns consciousness – it doesn’t stop 20 to 30 seconds after the heart does – instead, consciousness and awareness appeared to occur during a three-minute period when there was no heartbeat, thet means patients can recall real events when doctors have assumed they are dead. Sam Parnia, a critical care physician and director of resuscitation research says,

“While it is definitely clear that people do have experience at the time that they’re dead , how ndividuals actually choose to interpret those experiences depends entirely on their background and pre-existing beliefs.

Someone from India might return from the dead and say they saw Krishna, whereas someone from the Midwest of the US could experience the same thing but claim to have seen God.

All of these things – what’s the soul, what is heaven and hell – I have no idea what they mean, and there’s probably thousands and thousands of interpretations based on where you’re born and what your background is. It’s important to move this out of the realm of religious teaching and into objectivity.

Anyone with a relatively objective mind will agree that this is something that should be investigated further. We have the means and the technology. Now it’s time to do it.”

So far, the team of researchers has uncovered no predictor for who is most likely to remember something from their death, and explanations are lacking for why some people experience terrifying scenarios while others report euphoric ones. Parnia also points out that it’s very likely that more people have near-death experiences than the study numbers reflect.

Parnia and his colleagues are already planning follow-up studies to try to address some of these questions.

They also hope their work will help broaden the traditionally diametric conversation about death, breaking it free from the confines of either a religious or sceptical stance. Instead, they think, death should be treated as a scientific subject just like any other.

Osinbajo Suit To Stop Alleged Damaging Documentary Adjourned To 27th March

By Innocent Anaba

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, Friday, adjourned till March 27, to hear the suit by the Vice Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, challenging the legality of an alleged damaging documentary being aired by the African Independent Television, AIT and the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA.

Trial judge, Justice James Tsoho had earlier in the week, granted an interim order, restraining AIT and NTA from further broadcast of the said documentary pending the hearing and determination of the suit.

Osinbaja in the suit by his lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, SAN,is contending that the airing of the said documentary was against his fundamental rights.

At the resumed hearing in the matter, yesterday, Falana told the court that the two defendants had been served, and that he was ready to come back for hearing.

AIT was not represented by any lawyer, while Anthony Okochu represented NTA.

Okochu confirmed that the processes had been served on his client and that he needed time to respond to same.

The matter was thereafter, adjourned till March 27 for hearing, after all the necessary processes must have been filed and served.

Osinbajo, in the suit is complaining that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, having adjudged him a threat, sponsored documentaries to cause him disaffection in the eye of the public.

He argued that the videos were being aired in violation of his fundamental human right to dignity of human person, right to privacy and family virtue and right to life and/or livelihood as protected by Sections 33, 34 and 37 of the 1999 Constitution.

He is praying the court restrain AIT, NTA and any other broadcast stations under the control of BON from further disseminating and broadcasting the damaging videos.

According to him, “Unless the respondents are restrained in the manner requested in this application, damages will be grossly inadequate to compensate or redress the unquantifiable, unwarranted and malicious damage to the applicant’ right to dignity of human person, right to livelihood and privacy guaranteed and protected under Sections 33, 34 and 37 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Atiku, Northern Leaders Have Withdrawn Supports For Buhari - Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has said the alleged tactical withdrawal of support by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and leaders of thought in the North for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), were enough signals that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost the battle.

Fayose declared that the new development has deflated the ego of the opposition party to the extent that it has tactically conceded defeat few days to the March 28 presidential election.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, Fayose added that the sudden U-turn made by the northern leaders, which had realised that Buhari would be made to shortchange the North, had rattled the party.

The governor noted that Atiku and his supporters were already retracing their steps back to the PDP and that the North had seen the deceit in APC South-west leaders in pushing forward Buhari, even against the man’s interest.

Fayose also disclosed that the issue of health of the former general had become worrisome to the northern caucus which did not want to forget in hurry the Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua saga.

According to the governor, the APC was forced to cancel presidential rallies in Kaduna and Enugu because Buhari was not yet physically and mentally fit to go for any rally.

The governor said while Buhari was still recuperating in a London hospital, he had to come back home due to pressure mounted on him by certain leaders of his party who wanted to douse the growing apprehension by Nigerians over his state of health.

“We thank the APC for conceding defeat in the coming elections. At east, they, for the first time, appear realistic. Buhari’s insistence that he must be allowed to attend to his health is commendable.

“It is glaring that he needs to rest and not waste energy on a failed project. The man has been abandoned by those who claim to be his backers and Buhari’s people have told him the bitter truth. That they would prefer to wait for another four years than to get trapped by some selfish South-west leaders for eight years.

“The preoccupation of the APC now is how to retain the APC- controlled states and prevent the PDP from capturing them.

“The tactical withdrawal of people like Atiku, Kwakwanso and the battle for survival by Tinubu and Amaechi in Lagos and Rivers have woken up Buhari to the politics of deceit that some are luring him to.

“While PDP leaders are confidently traversing the country meeting Nigerians and getting their support, APC leaders are held up in their hideouts. Who among them is canvassing support for Buhari now?

“Tinubu, for instance, is only pre-occupied with his aim of maintaining his stranglehold on Lagos’ resources by putting another stooge in the Government House, Ikeja, but this time around, he has failed woefully.”

Russian lady advertises for a man to impregnate because she's fed up with her mum nagging her

Elena Komleva, a lady from Cheliabinsk in southern Russia, placed an advert on a social media site asking for a man to get her pregnant in order to stop her mother's consistent nagging. And Yes! Her Mum's aware of it. 'As long as she gets grand-kids right?

The 29-year-old lady, who is a toe-nail painting artist, described this advert as a 'contest', adding that her mother would actually select the winning candidate.

Taking to her 'Vkontakt page - the equivalent of a Facebook profile' - she wrote:

'My mother needs grandchildren to give them all the baby clothes she has been collecting. But nobody wants to marry me yet. So, if you are young, strong and healthy drop me a line.

At the end of it all, her mother will be in charge of selecting the candidates and announcing the winner. They will soon reach that stage as she says that she is now sorting through the applicants and shortlisting them - with her mother. The things we hear everyday. Lol.

NFF Plans Special Ceremony For Vincent Enyeama’s 100th Cap

The Nigeria Football Federation would specially fete goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama when he makes his 100th appearance for Nigeria during their friendly match against Bolivia on March 26.

Enyeama would become only the second Nigerian to reach the century mark in 70 years since the organization was founded.

Former captain Joseph Yobo was the first player to reach the milestone in 2014 in a World Cup match against Argentina which the Eagles lost 3-2.

There was muted celebration of Yobo’s feat perhaps as a result of that defeat.

However, the NFF has announced plans to celebrate Enyeama at the Uyo Stadium in front of fans from his home state.

As part of the plans, the NFF announced a competition via Twitter where an autographed hand glove of the goalkeeper would be given out to a lucky fan.

“Nothing matches being recognized by your own country. I am very excited at the prospect of reaching 100 caps, and more so at the decision by the NFF to honour me on the day,” Enyeama told the federation’s website.

“The NFF media department has also been speaking with me and I have followed the publicity they have generated about it. It is a delight. I am also excited by the fact that it will happen in Uyo, my hometown. What a great honour!”

Enyeama made his Nigeria debut in May 2002 against Kenya. He has played at three World Cups and says that his most memorable match was against Argentina in 2010.

“I can tell you that is one match I will always remember. I was highly inspired, and although we lost, I was selected the Man of the Match. We lost 0-1 but Lionel Messi did not score. That was some sort of joy for me,” he said.

Enyeama was named the 2014 Goal Nigeria Player of the Year for his exploits with French club Lille and the Super Eagles.

He led the team to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

MASSOB Shuts Down Enugu, Says Jega Must Go!

Members of the pan-Biafran organisation, Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Friday marched round major streets of Enugu calling for the removal of INEC’s chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.

Displaying placards of various inscriptions, the pro-Biafrans, most of whom clad in navy blue uniform with the Biafran rising sun insignia assembled at Edinburgh Road, New Layout, from where they ‎trooped to the major streets of Enugu chanting solidarity songs.

Some of the placards read: “Jega must go”, “Jega has compromised”, “No election with Jega on seat”, “Jega is not impartial” etc.

They were led by their Enugu zonal chairmen, Mrs. Augustina Ugwuoke, Ben Ekwunugo and E. Ilogu in the peaceful protest march.

The MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike in a telephone chat told our correspondent that ‎: “We organising the protest against Jega because he is biased and cannot conduct a credible election for Nigerians.

“We know that he is in favour of APC and if allowed to conduct the elections, he will definitely favour the party and when that happens, there will be crisis and people will die.

“The crisis will and can even lead to a war and we don’t want bloodshed.

“We are not hiding the fact that we are supporting Jonathan because of the burial he gave to our leader, Ojukwu and therefore we are sure that if the election is free and fair that Jonathan will win.”

No Gains For Almajiri Schools’ Graduates – Fashola

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, says the Almajiri schools being established by the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government in the northern part of the country have no feasible end gains.

Fashola said this at an event on Thursday ─ Support Our Schools Breakfast Meeting with the Governor─ held at the City Hall on the Lagos Island.

The governor explained that the purpose of training someone was for the person to be able to use the knowledge gained and the skills acquired to his benefit and the good of society.

He said that could not be said of the Almajiri schools as they had no competitive advantage for the graduates.

He said, “If you train people to acquire certain skills, you must develop avenue where the skills will be useful and that will be the end gain. For instance, graduates of our technical and vocational colleges will become our major contractors.

“And so, it worries me, what is the end gain of products of the Almajiri schools? Will you put your child there? Will a company looking through its job appraisal consider such graduates from Almajiri schools? What chance will the product of the Almajiri schools have working for multinational companies? Are we giving the children a chance when we segregate them into Almajiri schools? Think about it.”

Fashola said as part of measures to encourage vocational and technical education in the state, his administration had issued over 600 contracts as annual maintenance projects of Lagos schools, adding that graduates of the state’s technical schools were the main beneficiaries.

“We have issued maintenance contract to all our schools. We have issued about 600 contracts of annual maintenance of our schools and they ranged between N2m to N4m per annum. Our graduates in the technical and vocational colleges are the substantial beneficiaries of the contracts. We now want to ensure that every school in Lagos has regular and uninterrupted power supply,” he added.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Education, Olayinka Oladunjoye had expressed government’s gratitude to organisations that embraced the ‘Support our school’ initiative, saying the support had contributed to the success of the Fashola’s administration in the educational sector.

Gov. Fashola blames success of yesterday's Lekki robbery on Pres. Jonathan's visit

Lagos state Governor Babatunde Fashola says President Jonathan's visit to the state yesterday was the reason why the robbery attack in Lekki Phase 1 was successful. According to him, all the vehicles the state government bought to patrol the state was stationed to protect the President. He said this during the Buhari meet the Entertainers Programme in Lagos yesterday March 12th

"Today is a very sad day because this afternoon we lost three policemen to the robbery in Lekki and it was the first of its kind in a long time. And I also know that perhaps what will be would have been but it was sad to see all our security vehicles deployed to protect one man. All the vehicles we bought for the police were stationed to receive the President in Lagos while the citizens were left vulnerable. Those policemen have children. Their mothers will be have to explain to them why daddy is not coming home. May their souls rest in peace" he said. Watch the video after the cut...

Dear people, there's a difference between Hollywood and reality..lol

So madam saw this outfit on Hollywood actress Jaimie Alexander, who wore it to the LA premiere of Thor and decided she wanted one. She's Chinese and contacted a Chinese online retailer to sell her the risque dress which they displayed on their site.

When the retailer sent her the see-through outfit and she tried it on - she screamed 'Ye, mogbe!' lol. The dress sent to her was horrendous, a bad copy of the original one and when she tried to return it, the sellers refused to take it back, so she uploaded the photo on social media, calling out the sellers lol. House Of Representatives To Strip President Of Power Over Oil Licences

Reps to strip president of power over oil licences

MARCH 12, 2015 : JOHN AMEH, ABUJA

The House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Petroleum Industry Bill has stripped the President of his “discretionary power” to grant petroleum licences and leases to operators in the country’s oil and gas industry.

In removing this power as contained in Section 191 of the original bill, the committee recommended competitive bidding for such awards to “avoid the practice whereby the power for the award of oil blocks was discretionary.”

The committee, which is chaired by the Chief Whip of the House, Mr. Ishaka Bawa, made the recommendation in its report on the PIB laid before the House in Abuja on Thursday.

Similarly, the committee recommended the removal of the Minister of Petroleum Resources as the chairman of the National Oil Company proposed to assume the duties of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and other key industry agencies.

The minister is also no longer empowered to recommend to the President who to appoint as the chairmen ‎of the boards of agencies listed in the PIB.

The agencies include Upstream Petroleum Inspectorate Agency; Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency; Asset Management Corporation ; and any other corporate entity established by the Act (PIB).

The House is yet to consider and approve or reject the report.

But, the committee made far-reaching recommendations on many areas generating controversies in the oil and gas industry.

On the Petroleum Host Community Fund, the committee expanded the beneficiaries to include non-oil producing communities in the country.

In the new recommendations, communities where pipelines pass through or have depots and refineries, will now benefit from oil revenues.

"In the bill, a new Section 118 cover‎s both upstream and downstream sectors.

“This innovation is intended to allay the raging distrust between oil-producing and non-producing communities in the country,” the report explained.

A Frontier Oil Services Agency is recommended to step up exploration activities in already identified oil basins like Sokoto, Anambra, Benue, Bida, Benin and Chad.

The agency is to be funded through taxes from oil production operations and “national budgetary allocations in dual funding strategy aimed at strengthening the agency and its operations.”

Boko Haram: Chad Withdraws Troops From Nigeria To Cameroon

By Madjiasra Nako and Beau-Bernard Fonka Mutta

N'DJAMENA/YAOUNDE (Reuters) - Much of the Chadian force fighting Boko Haram in Nigeria has withdrawn to Cameroon and is deploying further south, Chadian soldiers and a Cameroonian military official said on Thursday, signalling the potential start of a new offensive.

Chad's military has spearheaded an operation by Nigeria's neighbours against the Islamist militant group that has killed thousands in northeast Nigeria and in recent months mounted an increasing number of cross-border raids.

Nigeria has simultaneously launched an offensive to retake a series of towns with the backing of hundreds of mercenaries from South Africa and the former Soviet Union in a bid to secure towns ahead of a rescheduled March 28 election.

Chadian soldiers, who asked not to be identified, said troops operating in Nigeria had pulled back from their forward base of Gambaru to Fotokol, a town on the Cameroon side of the border.

"We don't know the reason for the withdrawal. We just received the orders," one of them said, adding that the force was now heading south to the border town of Banki.

Banki lies on the main road from Cameroon to the Nigerian town of Bama, the second-biggest town in Borno state. Security sources in Nigeria said fierce fighting was on-going to retake Bama, which has been held by Boko Haram since late last year.

A spokesman for the Chadian military was not immediately available for comment. A Cameroonian military source confirmed Chadian troops had crossed back into Cameroon and were headed south but gave no further details.

Chadian troops last week pushed the furthest they have gone into Nigeria when they freed Dikwa, a town at a major crossroad some 80 km (50 miles) east of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno.

Since then, Nigeria asked Chadian troops to leave and deployed its own troops to the town, Chadian officers said.

Nigeria's defence headquarters said on Thursday that their army had cleared the last Boko Haram camps in Adamawa state, which borders Borno.

Chadian troops are also battling Boko Haram to the north along the long, porous border with Niger.

A Niger military source said about 20 Boko Haram militants were arrested in Damasak on Thursday, highlighting how fighters were still present in the zone despite reports from Niger officers that they had scattered them this week.

Mistrust and rivalries have hamstrung coordination between the regional armies, which are in the process of planning and seeking United Nations backing for a joint 10,000-strong force to defeat Boko Haram.

Chadian officials complain that Nigeria has repeatedly prevented them from advancing despite Chad having scored several victories against the militants, who recently pledged allegiance to Islamic State and aim to carve out a caliphate in Nigeria's northeast.

Nigeria's military denies any lack of cooperation and says it has not been credited enough for its own gains against Boko Haram.

With Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan seeking reelection at polls on March 28, his opponent Muhammadu Buhari has lambasted his government for relying on Chadian intervention to tackle Boko Haram.

Group Protests Against Jega In Imo (Photos, Video)

Ok firstly, don't mind my poor journalism skills and the video quality, I'm a very unprofessional videographer but I just thought someone should have a footage of this.

So this is is a group of people in Owerri protesting against Jega being the INEC chairman.

So just after the battery of the phone died, I was opportuned to have a little chit chat with the group head. In his words "the reason for the protest is that Jega is willing to rig the elections in favour of the North (Buhari)".

What do you people have to say about this?

For those that don't have data to watch the video, here are some pictures

Woman Divorces Husband, Says She Is Tired Of 'Free Of Charge Marriage'

Iyawo Nylon Bag grin grin

There was drama at Customary Court sitting in Ejigbo, Lagos State, western Nigeria, where a housewife, Mrs Funke Oludotu dragged her husband, Omodayo, seeking for the dissolution of their marriage because her husband refused to pay her bride price.

But in his response, her husband said her parents gave her out in marriage free of charge and there was no need to pay her bride price, saying she already had children for him.

The argument between the husband and wife caused laughter among those present at the court during the trial.

Funke told the court that she left her parents’ house to Omodayo’s house and they started living together as husband and wife which produced two kids.

She said instead of her husband to formalise the marriage by paying her dowry, he pleaded with her and deceived her to have another pregnancy.

She said she had to leave Omodayo’s home at Karimu Taiwo Street in Itire, Lagos.

She also instituted a suit seeking for the dissolution of their 8-year marriage on ground that she was not treated as his genuine wife.

Funke told the court that apart from that, he was cruel to her and her two kids and does not respect her parents.

The woman said despite the fact that her husband did not pay any bride price, he beats her regularly in the presence of her parents.

“He claimed that I am his wife but he did not pay a dime as my dowry and still wanted me to obey him always,” she said.

Funke asked the court to dissolve the marriage so that she could move on with her life and Omodayo should take care of the children.

On his part, Omodayo admitted that he did not pay her bride price.

He said Funke’s parents accepted him as their in-law despite the fact that he did not pay any dowry.

He said the marriage was blessed with two children and he was taking care of his family before Funke left his house.

Omodayo told the court that since she said that she was no longer interested in the marriage, she should go away.

The President of the court, Mr A.K. Akano adjourned the matter for continuation of trial.
