Iranian football players warned not to take selfies with female fans in Australia

...or they will get punished. Some of these people sef! Iranian football team is currently playing in the Asia Cups finals in Australia and the players have been warned not to take selfies with female fans. Iran says it is against their 'moral principles' and any player caught taking selfies with 'female' fans will be punished. They don't mind them taking selfies with male fans though.

When they play back home in Iran, women are not even allowed to come watch the games. Iran made the threats to players after photos of some of them posing with some female fans, who are mostly Iranian-born who live in Australia, were shared on social media...

The head of the Iranian Football Federation's disciplinary committee, Ali Akbar Mohamedzade, then issued a firm warning.

"Players are not allowed to pose for selfies with female fans. They [the women] may later use these photos for political ransom against our country, or sue the players for harassment. If the players refuse to act according to our clear instructions, then we will be left with no option but to deal with them."

"In some of the selfies that our players have taken with the fans we can see they appear next to people whose appearance we regard as being against our moral principles," he added.

This photo above in particular caused much controversy on twitter. It shows a female fan wearing a midriff top, while holding an Iranian flag with the words "Will Alireza marry me?" scrawled in English on it. Alireza Haghighi is the Iranian goalkeeper

"We are monitoring what is happening in Australia, we haven't sent any representative to Australia," Mohamedzade said.

As For Me And My Household We Will Vote For President Jonathan – Comedian Bovi.

As a result of the current intense political atmosphere in Nigeria with its associated unethical campaigns and rivalry between PDP and APC,

ComedianBovi has urged Nigerians to ”save the insults and bickering” because

”in politics, there is no permanent friend and no permanent enemy”.

In a statement released on his IG page ,he said as for him and his family, they will vote for president Jonathan.

He p transcribed a short video of a recent conversation between President Jonathan and Buhari, and attached a message to it.

Read the transcribed message and his advice to Nigerians below:-

Gmb – Good morning Mr. President. GEJ -

Good morning sir.

Gmb -how are you mr. President? GEJ- fine thank you sir.

Gmb and GEJ together- how is the campaign going?

Then laughter from both men.

Fellow Nigerians, vote for whom you will vote.

Save the insults and bickering. In politics, there’s no permanent friend, no permanent enemy. But there’s permanent interest.

Spend your time promoting your candidate.

Insults are like mess in this game, stinks only for a while.

It can never form poo. If you know the history of Buhari and IBB, you will marvel at the fact that both men can sit together today.

If you know the history of ffk, you will marvel that he’s working for GEJ today. Don’t fight!

Just let the ballot speak. As for me and my household, we are voting GEJ.

MTN Who Deserves To Be A Millionaire Winner Pockets N50 Million Apartment

‘I thought it wasn’t real’-OMOTOLA AKINSOLA (Star Prize Winner)

In an unprecedented manner, the popular award winning game show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? created another stunning special episode that was designed to encourage viewers to surprise someone who has positively influenced their lives and contributed to making them who they are today.

Working within the MTN Season of surprises, the show revealed eight deserving Nigerians from all the nominees sent in by viewers from all walks of life and from all over the country.

The special edition was aired on Sunday, December 21 and December 28, 2014 on Silverbird TV at 6pm and at 8pm on NTA Network, GET TV channel 129 on Startimes, MiTV and Superscreen.

The show revealed the eight deserving contestants from the thousands of regular Nigerians from all walks of life who had been nominated by their sons, brothers, sisters, friends, fathers, teachers, students. The show’s producers observed the response had been unbelievable as its seemed everyone in Nigeria had nominated someone to get the ultimate end surprise of not only sitting on the hot seat to play for N10 million but an additional surprise gift of a N50 million house.

The highest winner on the show so far has been Aroma Ufodike, who won N10 million. However, at the end of the show, Miss Omotola Akinsola emerged winner of the prized N50 million new apartment, while Mrs. Iyabo Dawodu won a brand new wonder on wheels.

In an exclusive chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly they both shared their joyous moment with us.

Can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Omotola Akinsola. I won N250,000 on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and also won a house worth N50 million through the special Who Deserves To Be Surprised.

How did you feel about the surprise gift?

.

I cannot believe it because when I got the call to come over, I was like is this for real? But I decided to move with the flow. And on getting to the studio here in Lagos, I was a bit unsure. I thought I might not be so knowledgeable to get on the hot seat. I was also scared of the fastest fingers first process; I was just hoping I don’t get a heart attack. But thankfully with the help of Mayowa, my friend who nominated me, we skipped through the fastest fingers first and made it to the hot seat where I won N250,000 and the surprise gift of a house worth N50 million which is just really amazing for me.

Did you have any premonition of winning?

When I started jumpstart last year around May, I never imagined that we would move this fast because my belief was start small and grew big. But of course, I wasn’t anticipating this much in less than two years that we started. And I know that this opportunity is not just about the money or house, it’s about networking and having access to people that might have taken me five or more years to gain access to. I’m just really grateful for this opportunity that Who Wants To Be A Millionaire created for me and also MTN, the sponsor of the show.

What’s the lesson this has taught you?

This is a proof of the fact that the quote I believe in is true. It says, “Leadership is not the position you hold but the difference you make wherever you find yourself.” And that was what pushed me to start Jumpstart Academy in the first instance, believing that young people have a say in what happens in this country. We have a contribution to the future of the country. If we don’t invest in ourselves, who else will and that’s the whole idea, to break barriers.

I was tired of hearing people complain of barriers and obstacles and I just wanted to stand in the gap with whatever money or resources that I have to equip and empower people to pursue and achieve their dreams too, and be a success and that’s what Jumpstart Academy is about. That until Nigeria can reach a point where the government can take care of everybody and everybody takes care of each other, we need to keep standing in the gap, helping the helpless and being a voice for the voiceless. And I’m so happy and grateful for this huge platform that enables me do that on a bigger scale. I used to just post videos online but now I get to be on national TV and gain access to more experienced people who can mentor me. So, I am really super excited and thankful to everyone who made this happen, God, Mayowa, my friend, who nominated me and every other person.

Honestly speaking, the N50 million house is huge. I have always wanted to have a house where I can provide shelter for children and also create classrooms for learning. This was meant to be a five or 10 years plan but with this happening now, I am sure the other resources we need to make it function properly would come. I hope it will be a place where more barriers would be broken and possibilities evolve.

‘It’s the last minute miracle of the year’ -IYABO SODIYA-DAWODU

Can you tell us about yourself?

I am Mrs Iyabo Sodiya-Dawodu. I won a car in the Who Deserves To Be Surprised special.

How did you feel?

When it started and my dad told me, I told him it’s all a lie and that it’s one of the 419 promos at the end of the year. And that in fact, we have been warned on TV and radio that it’s end of the year and we should beware of fraudsters. But, as I later got a call from Ultima Studios I became slightly convinced. So, winning this car is in fact the last minute miracle of 2014. It’s a big surprise. Although I have a car, I have never owned a tear-rubber car. Thus, this is a big surprise and I thank God for it. Whenever I watch Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, I’d always taken it as a game of chance because of the fastest finger first. So I couldn’t even believe it when they called my name as the fastest for my round for the hot seat. I want to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to MTN, sponsors of this show. To Ultima, the organizers of this programme for making it a reality and I pray that God will continue to prosper them. Amen.

ANOTHER WARNING! ‘We’ll Disgrace Patience Jonathan At Bayelsa Rally’ - Bayelsa Youths

Again, some Bayelsa State youths have issued a stern warning to the wife of the President, Patience Jonathan, not to visit the state during the Peoples Democratic Party presidential rally on February 5.

The youths from Bayelsa creeks, under the auspices of the Mangrove Boys of Bayelsa, warned on Tuesday that if the First Lady failed to heed their warning, she would be thoroughly disgraced and have herself to blame.

The warning came a few days after the Bayelsa Youth Vanguard issued a similar statement barring Patience from attending the proposed rally.

Reinforcing the position of the BYV, the creek youths asked Mrs. Jonathan to steer clear of the rally in her own interest.

The youths, in a statement by their President, Mr. Opuyo Engobara, and Secretary, Mr. Warrman Aderi, accused the First Lady of aiding his anointed governorship aspirant, Mr. Waripamowei Dudafa, to recruit youths to boo and stone Governor Seriake willieson, at the proposed rally.

They lamented President Goodluck Jonathan’s silence over the alleged excesses of his wife, wondering whether he intended to join in the stoning of the governor.

They said, “In her last visit to the state, Mrs. Jonathan came ahead of her husband, avoided the state Government Lodge and stayed at Otuoke for three days.

“During the time, she was busy sponsoring Dudafa’s recruitment drive with the intention to go against the governor by booing and stoning him at the planned rally to discredit his administration before the PDP National Executive Council.

“Is President Jonathan using this as a ploy to join Bayelsa youths to stone Governor willieson as promised (by the President) during his presidential campaign in 2011 and subsequently to oust willieson’s administration, since he could hardly rebuke his wife in several of her political atrocities?”

The creek agitators insisted that the presence of Patience at the proposed rally would cause tension and security breaches in the state.

They said Patience actions and pronouncement in recent times had allegedly been fuelling crisis in the state.

The youths listed eight sins of Patience and accused her of opening a new secretariat for the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria in the state with an intention to use the group to mobilise against the governor.

They alleged that the First Lady tinkered with the leadership of TAN and aided her loyalists to reposition the campaign group to actualise her ambition of removing willieson.

The youths further lamented that Patience used the occasion of the sharing of the Millennium Development Goals items at the Samson Siasia Stadium to make inflammatory statements against the governor.

They recalled that Patience attended a function in Dudafa’s town and made open statements supporting him as the next governor.

The youths also alleged that Patience sponsored aspirants that failed in the PDP primaries, to defect to the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

They noted that the peace currently enjoyed in the state came from the hard work of the governor, reminiscing that in the previous government, Jonathan’s house was razed down in Otuoke by aggrieved militants.

(lol): Ogun State, Gubernatorial Candidate Could Not Speak English At Elections Debate

A mild drama occurred on Tuesday at the political debate organised by the Committee for Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, Ogun State Chapter, for governorship candidates, as one of the contenders found it difficult to boldly face the public and attend to questions.

The debate which took place at DLK Event Center in Abeokuta, exposed the shy side of the governorship candidate of Mega Progressive Peoples Party, Iyabo Ogunmefun, who found it difficult to face the audience.

Ms. Ogunmefun became apparently jittery when given a question and handed a microphone, resulting into uncontrollable laughter from the public, with many of them describing her as a clown.

When the organisers noticed she was not fluent in her English presentation, the MPPP candidate was given the opportunity to address the audience in her mother tongue, Yoruba.

Ironically, she faced the same challenge of not being able to face the crowd.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidates who appeared for the debate include: Gboyega Isiaka (PDP), Abolaji Sunmola (LP), Benjamin Onafadeji (NCP), Eyiowuawi Razaq (PPN), Olufowobi Adebayo (KOWA), Olawoyin Solomon (CPP) and Iyabode Ogunmefun (MPPP).

LOLSSS...Atari Ajanaku ni...I can't stop laughing.

Buhari, nearly overwhelmed by the mammoth gathering, slowly made his way to the stage and addressed the supporters in Hausa, reaffirming his commitment to restoring security, power supply, education and infrastructure. He also spoke on the vital importance of collecting permanent voter cards and ensuring they defended their votes.

Former President Shehu Shagari denies endorsing GEJ, blasting Buhari

Former president Shehu Shagari's son has released a statement denying that his father ever made the derogatory statements that the PDP twitter handle tweeted yesterday (See here)

"I'd like to inform the general public and concerned citizens of this country that the speech that was credited to His Excellency Alhaji Shehu Shagari, GCFR (Turakin Sokoto) by some media agencies and online news blogs in which His Excellency was reported to have endorsed President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and commending his government for some achievements is nothing but a blatant lie. And we've condemned it in strong terms,” said the former president’s son. Continue...

It is pertinent to note that Alhaji Shehu Shagari is not a card-carrying member of any political party neither [does he] support the candidature of any politician. Alhaji Shehu Shagari was for long retired from partisan politics, he's known for his proven integrity and [reputation as a] distinguished nationalist and elder statesman who treats every Nigerian/politician equally irrespective of his/her political party, tribe, ethnicity or religion. Therefore Alhaji Shehu Shagari has never ever issued any press statement [or granted] audience [to] any media agency to comment on the forthcoming elections or to speak of any politician, be it president or not. We therefore urge the general public to regard such publication as mere fabrications and concoctions aimed to tarnish the good image of Alhaji Shehu Shagari.”

How A Nairalander Saved Her Marriage

I had been trained to see sex as a sin, my mom never really talked to me about sex, all i heard was that sex was a sin and must be avoided at all cost.

When i was in my SS1, i fell in love for the first time but the moment the guy touched my bosom when we were in his room, i almost fainted because of shock, i ran away as if the guy was evil, so since then i thought to myself if touching my bosom could shock that much, what about sex, to worsen the issue, when Yaba market use to be full before Fashola cleared it off, i was shopping for skirts in the market, a guy selling clothes touched my bosom deliberately pretending he was asking me to come and buy, the same shocked happened, i shouted and cried in the market and when people asked me i told them he touched my bosom they laughed, they did not understand why i should cry because of that, so since then i just don't go near guys like that, i just hang out in the open with them and avoid touches.

Then i met my husband(i dont want to go through how we met again) and after few years we got married.

The night before i got married my mom had told me that i should obey my husband and do everything he asked me to, but she still did not tell me about sex, i stayed through out the night before my wedding day, thinking of what sex will look like, how im going to manage the shock etc.

The wedding night came and behold, it bounce on me like a dream, my husband did not understand the shock, he thought i was being stubborn like i use to be or trying to deny him of sex, so he had his way and when he saw i wasnt enjoying it, he used to punish me with sex.

I came here on Nairaland to seek opinion, a lovely lady with the handle abi moniker (robedu) contacted me when she saw my marriage was almost crashing, she called me out to her office and we started hanging out, she told me her own virginity story and i was thrilled, she bought me books, send me links online and usually coach me on what to do,she was just amazing and selfless, its wonderful how other people can take up the pains of others and make it their own, in less than 2 weeks after i met her, my orientation on sex had changed, i became stronger and more eager to have sex.

And now, i am enjoying sex like mad, my husband who was behaving like a sex addict can't stand me anymore. thanks to all who commented on my previous posts - MARRIAGE IS SWEET - GO GET MARRIED LOL

Nigeria Signed Pact To Import Refined Oil Under Buhari's Regime (NY Times 1984)

Did you know that under Buhari's administration, Nigeria signed a pact to export unrefined crude oil to other countries and then import the finished products afterwards?

This 1984 news article from The New York Times lays it bare!

Brazil Wins Nigeria Pact

AP

Published: March 14, 1984

RIO DE JANEIRO, March 13—Brazil has won an international bidding contest to refine Nigerian oil this year, the state oil company, Petrobras, announced today.

The $1.2 billion agreement calls for Brazil to import Nigerian crude and return refined gasoline, jet fuel and diesel oil to Nigeria , a Petrobras spokesman said. He added that the accord would allow Brazil to reduce its idle refining capacity and earn a margin of profit.

Brazil imports about two-thirds of the one million barrels of oil it consumes daily, mostly from the Middle East. It buys 10,000 barrels daily from Nigeria.

If I Hated The North, I Wouldn’t Have Built Almajiri Schools, Universities - Jonathan

SOURCE: VANGUARDNGR

President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, said his achievements in the north lays credence to the fact that he was not an enemy of the region as some ‘liars who have nothing to offer the region’ claimed.

“When I came on board as president, I established 14 new universities, four were built in the South while 10 were built in the North, yet they keep telling you I hate the North. If truly I hate the North and I do not want the children from the North to be like me, will I take such action?” the President asked during the campaign rally in Sokoto State held at Shehu Kangiwa Square.

“Federal Government has no business with basic primary education because they are functions of the state government, but I took it upon myself to build Almajiri schools here because we realised there is a higher percentage of children out of school in the North than in the South. So we intervened massively. Is that hating the North?

“In the area of agriculture, tell me of any government that has supported the North with several agricultural equipment and with billions in cash loans. Is that hating the North? If I don’t like the North, will they benefit up to 70 per cent of agricultural reforms we are doing?” he asked.

“Those who say I do not like the North were also presidents in the past, but what did they do for the North? How many schools or universities did they build in the North and what did they do to ameliorate the problems in the agricultural sector?”

Speaking further, Jonathan called on politicians in the state to shun violence at the forthcoming elections and exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship in politics. “…on my arrival this morning, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Saadu Abubakar, drew my attention to the unwarranted rivalry that existed among political parties in the state and he condemned the development in its entirety.

“I visited Ogun State recently and the state Governor, Ibikunle Amusun, who is of the opposition party accommodated me at the Governor’s Lodge, where both of us passed the night without any rancour. I believe this is what politics should be,” Jonathan said.

Don’t Hold Elections In Adamawa, Governor Begs INEC

The Governor of Adamawa State, Mr. James Ngilari, has begged the Independent National Electoral Commission not to hold elections in his state in February.

He asked the commission to suspend all elections in his state till April.

Ngilari spoke in Abuja on Tuesday at a stakeholders’ workshop on, ‘Internally Displaced Persons and the 2015 general elections’, organised by INEC.

His comments was however received with jeers by the stakeholders at the workshop, which was also attended by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.

Though Jega said he had no such powers to grant the request, insisting that only security agencies could say what would happen, the governor remained adamant in his request.

While pleading his case, the governor said that at least seven local governments in the state were currently under the occupation of the Boko Haram sect.

Ngilari said, “In Adamawa, I can truly tell you that seven local government areas are under siege. The supposed peace we have is just the peace of the graveyard. To say that the security situation in these local governments are sufficiently stabilised so that we can have these elections on the February 14, 2014, to my mind is fierce.”

But there was the shout of ‘no’ ‘no’ from the stakeholders. It tiook th intervention of Jega who appealed to the crowd to allow him make his point.

After this, Ngilari continued, “That is my position. Anybody is entitled to his views; that is our position. I am the chief security officer. Even as I speak now, this morning Mr. Chairman, there was an attack on Uba on the Borno side which directly affects us in Adamawa.

“Before last Saturday, this situation could be said to have been stabilised until this attack was unleashed on Gombi Local Government. With that attack which completely reverberates across these seven local governments, of course, people would first and foremost be concerned about their dear lives.

“For the first time and about the same time, there was an attack on Biu which has never happened before. Experience has shown that they will go back and regroup and you can never predict when and where they would attack again.”

Ngilari said that while praying, there would be no attacks. He reminded the audience that the most critical time for the insurgents to inflict their harm might be during elections.

He said that his interactions with those in IDP camps showed that their primary concern was not even elections, adding that politicians had not even gone to the IDPs to canvass for votes.

So this happened yesterday. APC Prof Osinbajo tweeted a photo of a real huge, massive crowd and said it was a photo of the crowd at Kano waiting to receive him and presidential aspirant Gen Buhari. Some Nigerians were quick to say he was lying and confirmed that the photo was instead from Reinhard Bonke's crusade. Prof Osinbajo has now cleared the air about the photo anddrama that came with it. Tweets continue after the cut.

However, the crowd at the Kano rally was huge. Photos below.

Don’t be scared of Computer– JAMB to Candidates

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) , has urged candidates to dispel their fears and embrace the Computer Based Test (CBT) policy as it would help restore glory to the country’s education system.

JAMB’s Head of Public Relations, Mr Fabian Benjamin, who made this disclosure in Abuja, said: “Education in Nigeria used to be the best competing with other countries globally; with CBT now we have been able to curb exam malpractice.

“And once exam malpractice is not there our education will be on a sound footing; as far as CBT is concerned, I don’t think we had any challenge last year.

“The only challenge was the issue of the phobia by Nigerians over the CBT, but we have been able to overcome that and they are beginning to see that this is not as complex as they thought.

“We are getting very impressive responses from the candidates, from parents and from other stakeholders; so by the grace of God this exam is going to be a huge success.

“We are working with security agencies and they have been giving us assurances; moreover, our examination is after the elections.

“We believe that before we start, the elections would have come and gone.

The CBT examination is not a one-day examination; it is beginning on March 4th , and it will stretch for two weeks.

He said CBT was introduced by JAMB in 2013 to address the issue of release of incomplete result and missing scripts of exam candidates.

He gave the assurance that the use of the CBT policy of the board in administering public examinations would help place Nigeria’s education system on the same pedestal obtainable in any part of the world. (NAN)

Shagari Denies Endorsing Jonathan

The family of former Nigerian President Shehu Shagari has refuted a story that Mr. Shagari has endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a statement released by one of the ex-president’s sons, Muhammad Bala Shagari, the family reacted to a spurious report by a pro-Jonathan newspaper that claimed that Mr. Shagari had endorsed the incumbent president and condemned Muhammadu Buhari’s candidature as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I'd like to inform the general public and concerned citizens of this country that the speech that was credited to His Excellency Alhaji Shehu Shagari, GCFR (Turakin Sokoto) by some media agencies and online news blogs in which His Excellency was reported to have endorsed President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and commending his government for some achievements is nothing but a blatant lie. And we've condemned it in strong terms,” said the former president’s son.

He added: “It is pertinent to note that Alhaji Shehu Shagari is not a card-carrying member of any political party neither [does he] support the candidature of any politician. Alhaji Shehu Shagari was for long retired from partisan politics, he's known for his proven integrity and [reputation as a] distinguished nationalist and elder statesman who treats every Nigerian/politician equally irrespective of his/her political party, tribe, ethnicity or religion.

“Therefore Alhaji Shehu Shagari has never ever issued any press statement [or granted] audience [to] any media agency to comment on the forthcoming elections or to speak of any politician, be it president or not.

“We therefore urge the general public to regard such publication as mere fabrications and concoctions aimed to tarnish the good image of Alhaji Shehu Shagari.”
