FG Declares Friday and Monday As Public Holidays For Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Friday, July 17 and Monday, July 20 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mr Abubakar Magaji, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

The statement, signed by the Ministry’s Director of Press, Mr Yusuf Isiaka, called for prayers for the nation as Muslims celebrate successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.

He urged Muslims in particular and Nigerians in general to extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which include love, peace and sacrifice, to the development of the nation.

He also urged Nigerians to remain steadfast and law abiding as the Federal Government worked to evolve peaceful and virile nation.

“While wishing Nigerians a happy celebration, we also urge them to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in his determination to build a peaceful, united and virile nation,’’ he added.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that it is the norm in Islam for Muslims to look out for the new moon of Shawwal at the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

He, therefore, urged Muslims to look out for the new moon to determine the actual day for Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
If the new moon is sighted on Thursday, Muslims in the country will join their colleagues across the world to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr on Friday.

However, if the new moon is not sighted on Thursday, Muslims will have to fast on Friday and the Eid will be celebrated on Saturday.

According To ThisDay:-Nigerian Students In UK To Be Banned From Working, Forced To Leave

Foreign students, of which Nigeria accounts for a huge chunk of those coming from Africa, are to be banned from working in Britain under a fresh crackdown on immigration ordered by Home Secretary Theresa May. When their courses finish, they will have to leave the country before reapplying to return for a job.

Ministers say the new rules, which will apply to all those from outside the European Union, will stop colleges being used as a “back door to a British work visa”.

Official figures show that 121,000 non-EU students entered the UK in the 12 months to June last year, but only 51,000 left – a net influx of 70,000.

The government also estimates that the number of foreign students coming to the UK will rise by more than 6 per cent a year up to 2020. Home Secretary Theresa May has taken action against 870 bogus colleges, banning them from taking foreign students.

They want to stop student visas being used as an easy way to enter the UK before getting a job and claiming benefits. Under the new rules, non-EU students will be denied the right to work while in the UK and will not be able to apply for a visa extension when their course finishes.

Students will have to leave the country before applying to return under a work visa.

The length of stay is also expected to be cut to two years when the plans are unveiled this week.

But universities have warned that any clampdown could damage the sector and business leaders are also wary of the move, warning it could rob Britain of vital skills.

DailyMailUk reported that Seamus Nevin, head of employment and skills at the Institute of Directors, said: “The Home Secretary’s proposals to eject foreign students after graduation are misguided and would damage the British education system, our economy and global influence.

“Britain already makes it difficult and artificially expensive for international students to enter and stay, and now these proposals would eject them ignominiously when their studies are finished.

“Restricting talented workers from staying on in the UK would damage business and lead to a loss of important skills. Shutting the door to highly-trained international graduates at a time when our economy needs them most would be hugely damaging for UK businesses.
“In the interest of our education sector, our businesses, and our international standing, the Home Secretary should reconsider this proposal.”

Gobe As Petrol Dealers Says We Can’t Sell At N87 Per Litre

The Petroleum Dealers and Owners Association in Ondo and Ekiti States monday declared that it cannot sell fuel at the government approved price of N87 per litre.

The position of the association, was expressed at a news conference addressed by members against the sealing of their stations by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), for selling fuel above the government recommended price.

Addressing journalists, the Chairman of the association, Mr. Jimi Oladapo, said due to non-availability of products at the depots of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), members had been sourcing products through other means with attendant cost.
The dealers said rather than forcing them to sell at unrealistic price, the federal government should deregulate the downstream oil sector to enable them sell at appropriate prices.

According to the petroleum dealers true cost per litre of petrol varies from the source.

Specifically, Adedapo said total cost per litre of fuel from Lagos ranges between N104 and N108 while the landing cost per litre from Ogara/Warri in Delta State is between N105 and N108.00 per litre.

He said the landing cost is exclusive of operating expenses such as diesel to run the station, staff salaries and wages, strategies, office and pump maintenance.

“From the analysis, you will agree with us that it will be impossible for us to sell at the government approved price of N87 per litre,” he said.
Adedapo also disclosed that even when NNPC gives out fuel, the cost to them at their stations are above N89 per litre.
“One wonders how as businessmen with responsibilities can sell below cost price. The ordinary law of supply and demand will not allow it,” he said.

Adedapo lamented that despite their plights as highlighted, the regulatory authorities most especially, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), in Akure rather than facing the reality of the situation, have resulted to sealing of stations in Ondo and Ekiti States and vowed not to open until they complied with directives of selling at the government recommended price.

“Rather than running our stations at a loss, since most of us are on loan from financial institutions, we have resolved not to procure the products until it is readily available at NNPC depots,” he said.
The petroleum dealers said the so-called subsidy was nothing but fraud, saying it had become a conduit pipe through which nation’s resources are being siphoned.

“Let the marketers go and source for the products, if this is done fuel cannot be up to N87 and it will further go down to about N50 due to the falling crude oil price.

“Everybody knows that kerosene is being subsidised, but how many people get it to buy at N50 per litre recommended price.
“We want members of the public to help us tell the federal government to remove the fuel subsidy so that we can sell fuel at appropriate price and remain in business. subsidy is a fraud,” Adedapo stated.

He therefore told the people of Ondo and Ekiti States to prepare for the hard times on fuel supply because they cannot sell below the cost price, saying if the landing cost from NNPC depots is N89, how would they sell at N87?

Strange As Transformer Chops Off 4-year-old Boy’s Hand

A four-year-old boy has lost his right hand to a transformer in Apapa area of Lagos State.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the victim, Ademola Adetokunbo, who hails from Ondo State was with his mother, Sarah, who was tying her wrapper when the boy ran to a nearby unprotected transformer belonging to Eko Electricity Company Limited, mounted at Aerodrome road, Apapa and held it.

The electric current was said to have flung the child to the ground, and people around had to rescue him.

The family had vowed to sue Eko Electricity Company Limited for negligence because the transformer was not protected from children.

The family also called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode to intervene.

The victim’s relative, a security man, Adesakin Adeleke, disclosed that the boy was in the area with her mother who did not know when he suddenly ran to the transformer, adding that when she turned, it was too late because the deed had been done.

Adeleke said, “The boy was rushed to Apapa General Hospital where he was given first aid treatment before he was transferred to Island Maternity at Lagos Island.

He was later referred to Gbagada General Hospital in Lagos. He was admitted from June 23, 2015 when the accident occurred through July 5 when we were told that he would be amputated. He was moved to the village on July 7, to his home State, Ondo where he was rushed to Prummer Medical Centre in Ondo town.

The boy was amputated because the injury he sustained had gangrene and was stinking. His hand was badly damaged by the transformer.

“We spent N7,000.00 for the first aid at Apapa and N10, 000.00 at Island Maternity, for card and other things. At Gbagada Hospital, we were asked to pay N20,000.00. We also paid N1,000.00 for folder, N4,750 for voluntary discharge. In Ondo State, we paid N250, 000.00 deposit and N5,000.00 for card. We also paid other amounts for drugs and injections. We were told that we would pay at least N500, 000.00 for the surgery. We deposited N100, 000.00 for the surgery out of N500, 000.00.

“Our family will sue Eko Electricity Company Limited for negligence.

We have consulted a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who had shown interest in the matter. The child is in agony and could not sleep. He could not raise the hand. We want President Muhammadu Buhari and the governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode to intervene and order Eko Electricity Company Limited to treat and compensate the child. It could happen to any child”

10 Tips To Talk To Your Crush As a Shy Guy

Talking to your crush can be very
scary and very intimidating. This article
will teach you 10 best steps and you’ll
soon be talking with your crush easily!

1. Always have confidence, even if you
are shy. Be proud of who you are!

2. Always feel cute! Having excellent
hygiene will help you achieve that
feeling. Brush your teeth, take a
shower every day, etc.

3. Be yourself when speaking with
your crush. Your crush will not like you
if you pretend to be someone you’re
not. Don’t be ashamed of who you are
– don’t try to hide yourself!

4. If you are passing in the hallways,
just try to get the courage to greet
them and smile cheerfully. There is
nothing more powerful than a
genuine, acknowledging smile. Eye
contact is also very important in this
step.
If you have a crush on a girl,
compliment her outfit or compliment
her on things she does in class as well,
or something you know she did like an
event or win an award.
This is also applicable to guys. Things
like this will boost their ego and make
them feel great about themselves.

5. Talk about interesting things.. If you
expand your knowledge to a variety
of topics, you’ll have lots to talk about
with your crush!
If you don’t know any interesting
topic, you can read some blogs or
check the news. Read magazines,
books, watch TV, have adventures,
listen to different music, and watch
different movies.

6. Don’t ever lie to your crush. Be
truthful. Do not lie. If you lie to the
person you like, they will find out
eventually and never respect you for
it.

7. Don’t ever give your crush mean
looks or anything to draw attention
unless he/she knows you’re joking
with them. When you do tease or joke
with them, make sure it’s obvious and
that you don’t really mean it. Too much
teasing may lead to hurt feelings and a
sour relationship oh! so, keep your
teasing to a minimum..tease them only
about things you know that they won’t
mind.

8. Stay away from bad habits. If you
have any bad habits while talking to
your crush, you’ll be at a downside. Try
to be yourself, but avoid cursing
excessively. Keep your conversations
innocent, clean, but entertaining in a
positive way.

9. When you are ready to talk to your
crush, try to dress in a way that will
boost your confidence and make you
feel comfortable. It will make things a
whole lot easier on you.
TIP: Try wearing an outfit that your
crush once complimented

10. Now that you’ve talked to your
crush for sometime, finally come out
with saying you like him/her, but don’t
say the exact line! Your line should be
something like a hint, but big and clear
enough that your crush will get the
point and understand. Come up with
something original:
Please don’t use “um” and “ah” too
much. It will make your crush think
that you’re too shy!
When confessing your crush on them,
let them know about it with
confidence. Everyone likes someone
with confidence – the more
confidence, the better.
And.. Don’t be too confident!
Don’t sound like you have practiced
the line. One to three “um” or “ah” will
make it sound more natural – stick
them in appropriate places!
Have eye contact when you’re telling
your crush you like him/her. It will
make you appear more confident and
it makes you look bold!
Finally, If your crush likes you back,
then ask him/her out! However, if your
crush doesn’t feel the same about you,
it’s Okay. There are plenty of people
out there!
The right person is out there, waiting
for you to come around the corner.
Move on!

WARNING!
-Do not leave it too long! If you do,
some other guy might get her before
you do, that is an awful feeling.
-Having your friends talk to him/her
for you can be awkward for the guy/
lady; it is best to just talk with him/her
yourself.
-Do not be rude if your crush doesn’t
like you back. It isn’t fair to them that
you are giving them mean looks and
are rude to them just because they are
not interested in you.
