Mum pole dancing with baby strapped to her back sparks online backlash

Mother of a younger girl, Ashley Wright, came under fire from people on social media after she posted a video of herself pole dancing with her baby strapped to her back.

In the Youtube video, Ashley performed a series of moves to The Circle of Life, a popular Disney song from the Lion King film, with her baby secured to her back in a material sling. Alongside her video, Ashley wrote: "Decided we should do a routine together... And so thankful other could help assist me in capturing and choreographing this moment/experience."

Many commenters slammed her, saying her routine was too 'dangerous' for the child, that she could slip and fall on the child. Many even asked child protective services to be called. Ashley said she couldn't be bothered about other people's opinion and refused to take down the video

NSE Boss, Oscar Onyema Named In Forbes List Of “10 Most Powerful Men In Africa”

The Nigerian All Share Index is down 15.3% year to date and was one of the worst performing stock exchanges last year. However, that was not enough to stop the NSE Boss Oscar Onyema from being included in the Forbes list of top ten Most Powerful men in Africa. Here is how Forbest describes him:

As a testament to his contributions to the capital markets in Nigeria, in 2014, Oscar Onyema, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, was made an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in “recognition of his contribution to economic development, the transformation of The Nigerian Stock Exchange and the Nigerian capital markets”. With the Nigerian bourse taking a beating in recent months; the total market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, valued at 19.08 trillion Naira ($119.41 billion USD) in 2013, dropped to 16.88 trillion Naira ($90.68 billion USD) at the end of 2014, a decrease of 11.53% in Naira terms, Onyema has had to work in overdrive to restore investor confidence in one of Africa’s largest capital markets.

According to Forbes the list recognizes Africa’s top men leading in the continent’s change and transformation. It is interesting to note that no other Nigerian made that list except Oscar. Oscar has for years been pushing to take Nigerian stock exchange to the $1trillion mark. However, since he became the boss about 4 years ago, the market cap of the exchange has not crossed $100b way short of his target $1trillion. All the same, we say congrats to him

GEJ Has Procured A Judgement To Disqualify Buhari On The Eve Of Election - APC

The All Progressives Congress has warned against any orchestrated, last-minute disqualification of its presidential candidate, Gen. Buhari, in order to pave the way for an easy victory for President Jonathan or even another postponement of the elections.

"If it is true, as it is being widely speculated across the country, that the Jonathan Administration has procured a judgement to disqualify the APC Presidential Candidate on Wednesday, when the Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to rule on the issue, then it portends a great danger for our country,'' the party warned in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

It said, in addition to other reasons, the six-week postponement of the elections may have been used by those who never wanted the polls to hold in the first instance to shop for such a satanic judgement.

''Anyone who will disqualify a presidential candidate on the eve of an election can only have one and only one purpose for that: to trigger chaos and pandemonium across the country. Perhaps this is the reason for the deployment of troops across the country to crack down on possible protests and create confusion

''Then, those who orchestrated the disqualification will simply use what they expect to be angry reactions nationwide as an excuse to postpone the elections again, thus triggering a constitutional crisis, the end of which no one can predict.

''This is why we are hoping that good reason will prevail and nothing will be done, deliberately, to plunge Nigeria into crisis by the same people who have always been quick to say their political ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian,'' APC said.

Intersting Facts About The Kalabari Ijaws Of Rivers State (PICTURES)

The kalabari is a tribe of the Ijaw people of Rivers state living in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. They migrated from the Benin fringes of Ijaw land and became a large kingdom of about 35 communities/settlements including Buguma, Bakana, Tombia, ke, Soku, Bille, Bukuma, Degema, Obonoma, Sama, Abalama, Ilelema and others. The people were originally fishermen before the coming of the Portugese to the west African coastline. The Kalabari like most coastline tribes were wealthy as a result of interactions with Europeans.

The kalabaris share similar culture/language to the Okrikas, Bonny, Opobo, Bayelsa Ijaws (Nembe in particular as the language is almost the same), Delta Ijaws, Ondo Ijaws and some parts of Edo state. It was discovered that in the 1980s, that a nearly extinct Berbice Dutch/KALABARI LANGUAGE was spoken in Central America. Guyana to be precise (click on the link to watch).

The kalabaris do bear European names (Briggs, Horsfall, Jack, Harry, West, Braide etc) due to their inter- racial relations with their slave masters. Kalabari, Opobo and Bonny were the first to trade with the whites in Rivers state alongside Okrika and Andoni. Many of them do have light skin due to European mixtures.. They engaged in overland trade with the Portugese in the 1400s, later Dutch, then British whom arrived by sea for trade and missionary work. They also traded clothes from India. Since the early 1800s, The Europeans noted that the Kalabaris refused to trade their goods on credit. Their industrial prowess coupled with their lovable demenor has won the admirations from surrounding communities of the Niger delta.

The Kalabari constitute one of the largest ethnic groups in Rivers State with 3 LGAs and they are the largest Ijaws in terms of population in the state.. They constitute almost a million (90% of people based in Akulga, Asalga and Degema are indigenes, so the 2006 population census results states..(AKULGA:156,006 , ASALGA:220,110 , DEGEMA:249,773)..626000 altogether excluding the population of kalabaris based in Phalga LGA, Obioakpor LGA, LGAs in the state, indigenes outside Rivers State and diaspora.. Majority of Kalabari people stay at the PHALGA (Portharcourt old township, Borokiri, marine base, Dline, Diobu, Iwofe, Aggrey, Eagle island etc.) axis of Port Harcourt.

The kalabaris are highly educated and have the love for western education. They are known to have a high concentration of Professors, Lawyers and Doctors in Nigeria.. Because of their civilized and generally peaceful behaviour, the kalabaris were called English men in the past..

The BIBIFE signifies 3 things. First, a stage in a lawful marriage which gives the bride the right to eat in the husband’s house. Second, it signifies the man’s responsibility towards the wife and his willingness to feed her for the rest of her life.

Finally, it signifies and crowns the new communion between the 2 families. It involves serving the bride with innumerable courses of food., usually in the evenings. Thus, the bride is dressed with coral accessories, crown and chunky coral beads.

Nollywood Actress Speaks About New Movie, Says Every Woman Is A Prostitute

Nollywood actress, Bosede Arowosegbe-Aremu has spoken about her new movie, who is a prostitute? According to her a lot of people believe actresses are prostitutes, but to be candid all women are prostitutes as long as they are no longer virgins, she said. Hear her;

‘My newly shot movie titled ‘Tani Asewo’ (Who Is A Prostitute?) is the latest thing about me. The movie clarifies people’s notion about Nigerian actresses because a lot of people believe actresses are prostitutes. I make people realize in the movie that some other ladies from other professions are worse than actresses. But in my own candid opinion, I would say all women are prostitutes as long as you’re not a virgin’.

7 Reasons You Should Date A Lawyer

If you have never given a thought about dating a lawyer, this post is going to come as a reminder that you might be missing out on something wonderful. Yes I know there are a whole lot of misconceptions about lawyers, but hey, you might want to check out these reasons why you might at least give a thought about dating a lawyer. So here we go:

1) You will be proud to introduce them as lawyers to your friends and family

Who wouldn't want to associate with the prestige and respect the legal profession commands? You wouldn't have to wait to be asked what he or she does; you will just have it rolling out of your mouth, though that’s not a guarantee of money rolling from them to your pocket. You will be proud to have a “learned” person as a date, and your family and friends will be so proud of you.

2) Dating a lawyer means you wouldn't have to pay for legal services

Now you've got all your legal issues addressed for free. You don’t have to pay any consultation fee of any sort. You will have free legal services all to yourself. Now that is something to think about, because legal services these days

are not that affordable as it used to be.

3) Lawyers are known to be good dressers

I know you wouldn't want to date folks who are horrible with their dressing. If that’s the case, then your chances of avoiding that could be reduced if you date a lawyer. Lawyers are generally known to be good dressers, probably because of the nature of the profession; where they are trained on how to dress.

4) Lawyers are known to be smart and intelligent

Wouldn't you want a partner you can make a good and intelligent conversation with? I bet you wouldn't want to be hanging around a mate who doesn't know the things happening around in their environment and can’t make intelligent conversation. Lawyers are known to have a wide source of knowledge of things happening around them in the society. Lawyers are also known to be avid readers, which exposes them to a lot of information. All these exposures, tend to make them more smart and intelligent than their mates.

5) Lawyers are good story tellers

We all long to hear good stories every once in a while. Lawyers by the nature of their training know how to tell stories. Also, the nature of their work also makes it easy for them to come up with stories to tell. I mean, they are always in the center of human interaction and conflict resolution, and so they get to know and see stuff. Wouldn't you want some good stories every now and then?

6) Lawyers are good talkers

Sometimes it can be sexy to be a good talker. You know you want to hang around people that you will be proud of when they open their mouth to talk. Lawyers are known to be good talkers, eloquent, and come off as intelligent when they talk. In fact, the greatest orators are known to be lawyers. So if you want to have such folks as a date, you better check out lawyers.

7) Lawyers will stand for you even if you are wrong

Wouldn't you want somebody who will stick out for you even if you are wrong? If that’s what you are looking for, then look no further, because you will find that in lawyers. Lawyers by their training don’t just give in to stuffs without putting up some fight. So, if you have a lawyer as a date, you are sure of having someone who will stand by you whether you are wrong or right. Now tell me if you wouldn't want that?

Assuming you have never given a thought about dating a lawyer, now is the time to do that.

German A320 Plane Crashes In France, 148 On Board

- 9:46 a.m. ET: German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Tuesday that "we don't know much about the flight and the crash yet. And we don't know the cause."

- 9:46 a.m.: Merkel -- who plans to go to France on Wednesday -- said that she's been in touch with France's President and Spain's Prime Minister, with all agreeing to "help each other in any form."

"Many Germans" are among the mourners, added Merkel, expressing condolences to all those who lost loved ones in the crash.

"We have to think of the victims and their families and their friends," she said.

- 9:39 a.m.: There were 144 passengers and six crew members -- meaning 150 people overall -- on Tuesday's doomed Germanwings flight, according to Germanwings CEO Oliver Wagner.

- 9:10 a.m.: Spanish Airports and Air Navigation, the air transportation agency for Spain's government, tweeted that an area in Barcelona's airport is being set aside "for the relatives of the victims of the plane accident in France."

Full story:

A Germanwings Airbus A320 plane crashed Tuesday in the foothills of the Alps in southeastern France, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls told reporters.

Valls said he fears those aboard the flight from Barcelona, Spain, to Dusseldorf, Germany -- 142 passengers and six crew members -- may be dead.

French President Francois Hollande also said no survivors were expected. The plane crashed near Digne-les-Bains, in the Alpes de Haute Provence region, Valls said.

"The conditions of the accident are not yet clear but lead us to believe there will be no survivors," Hollande said.

Spanish King Felipe IV said there was a "high number of Spaniards, Germans and Turks" on the doomed Germanwings flight.

Mariano Rajoy, Spain's Prime Minister, tweeted that he will return to Madrid, put together a "crisis team" and send a minister to France.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the German government had already set up a crisis center in response to the "terrible news" and was in close contact with the French authorities.

"In these difficult hours, our thoughts are with those who have to fear that their close ones are among the passengers and crew," he said.

Hollande warned that it could take some hours for the emergency services to reach the remote crash site.

Mountainous terrain

The crash happened in mountainous terrain near the Prads-Haute-Bleone community, French police Capt. Benoit Zeisser said.

Because of the terrain, it will be a difficult site for rescuers to access, Zeisser said. A police helicopter is in the area, he said.

The sports hall of a local school for students aged 11 to 14 has been freed up to take in bodies of the victims of the plane crash, Sandrine Julien from the town hall of Seyne-les-Alpes village told CNN.

The school remains open, she said. Seyne-les-Alpes is about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the crash site on a straight line.

Mountain guide Yvan Theaudin told BFMTV the crash was in the area of the Massif des Trois Eveches, where there are peaks of nearly 3,000 meters (1.9 miles). It's very snowy in the area and the weather is worsening, he said, which could complicate search and rescue efforts.

Responders may have to use skis to reach the crash site on the ground, he said.

A distress call associated with plane was sent at 10:45 a.m. local time (5:45 a.m. ET), French Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet told CNN affiliate BFMTV.

Germanwings Flight 9525 had left Barcelona airport at 10:01 a.m., the airport website said.

Lufthansa: We hope to find survivors

Germanwings is a low-cost airline owned by the Lufthansa Group. Lufthansa has gradually been transferring many of its short-haul flights to Germanwings, with the exception of flights operated from its Frankfurt and Munich hubs.

Lufthansa said Tuesday on Twitter that "we do not yet know what has happened to flight 4U 9525."

"If our fears are confirmed, this is a dark day for Lufthansa. We hope to find survivors," Lufthansa said on Twitter.

Founded in 2002, Germanwings became a wholly owned Lufthansa subsidiary in 2009.

The twin-engine Airbus A320s, which entered service in 1988, is generally considered among the most reliable aircraft, aviation analyst David Soucie said.

The crash site is closer to Barcelona than Dusseldorf, but well into the flight. Crashes midflight are rare, as most happen near takeoff or landing, CNN aviation analyst Mary Schiavo said.

According to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, just under 16% of aviation accidents occur during the cruise portion -- meaning after the climb and before descent -- of a flight. Accidents are more common during takeoff and landing.

Plane dropped 14,000 feet in six minutes, online flight tracker shows

It is too early to know what happened, but Schiavo said there were some clues that rescuers and investigators will look at.

First is the speed of the jet's descent.

According to an online flight tracker that records altitude, the plane was at 38,000 feet, and six minutes later had dropped to 24,000 feet -- a drop of 14,000 feet.

This could indicate that there was not a stall, but that the pilot was still controlling the plane to some extent, Schiavo said.

Had there been an engine stall, the plane would have crashed in a matter of minutes, she said.

That small piece of information about the descent means that the pilot could have been trying to make an emergency landing, or that the plane was gliding with the pilot's guidance, Schiavo said.

A scenario where the plane was gliding is potentially more dangerous because wide fields for landing would be hard to come by in the mountains, she said.

Mayor: Area of crash site is sparsely populated

The mayor of the French community of Barcelonnette, near the crash site, told CNN affiliate BFMTV that emergency responders had been sent to the crash area. A helicopter has also been deployed to try to locate the precise crash site, he said.

The valley is long and snow-covered, and access is difficult, Barcelonnette Mayor Pierre Martin-Charpenel said. It was well populated in the 19th century but there are almost no people living there now, he said.

It's an out-of-the-way place with magnificent scenery, he said.

Man Beats Wife To Death In Lagos For Being Barren (Pictured)

When Obiageli Eze met Ikechukwu Anajekwu in 2002, she had fell madly in love with him. The whirlwind relationship culminated into marriage. It was, however, after the marriage that the rose-tinted glasses which Obiageli had always wore to view her husband and marriage shattered. Not only did her Prince Charming take to abusing her, he soon resorted to using her as his daily practice punching bag. On January 19, 2015, he pounced on her again and this time, she breathed her last.

Obiageli’s shocked family has demanded for justice, screaming murder. While the Network on Police Reforms in Nigeria (NOPRIN), a non-governmental organisation, urged the police to charge the case immediately to court for speedy trial, to serve as deterrent to other wife beaters. The deceased’s brother, Nnamdi Eze, said he was still in shock over his sister’s death. Recounting how Obiageli died, Eze said Ikechukwu pounced on the deceased with fisticuffs and kicks, because she allegedly refused to explain what she went to the village to do.

Eze, who described his brotherin- law as aggressive, said that he had never stopped wondering why Obiageli, among the five suitors who desperately sought her hand in marriage, settled for Ikechukwu. According to Eze, nobody approved of Ikechukwu as a choice husband for Obiageli.

But the lady insisted that she had carried out findings and knew Ikechukwu was her God-sent husband. Eze noted that it was after the bickering and quarrels started, culminating in almost daily beatings that the family began to discover more startling facts about their son-in-law.

He said: “When Ikechukwu came for Obiageli’s hand in marriage, he told us that he runs a restaurant in Brazil. After the marriage however, he was arrested for drug trafficking. He was imprisoned in Cameroon, but his wife waited patiently for him until he finished his term. Even while he was in prison, my sister said she used to send him money.

He said he had friends trying to process his release.” It was after his return from prison that the marriage began to fall apart. Ikechukwu was alleged to have taken to beating her over any real or imagined slight.

Eze said: “We later got to know that the man used to beat her, but my sister insisted that it was a family issue. She refused to discuss it Obiageli with us. Our family invited them to the village. The man accused my sister of being a witch. He said she couldn’t give him a child after years of marriage.

He also accused her of being responsible for his set back in business.” Eze, who said that his late sister obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, added that after their traditional marriage ceremony in 2002, and due to his dwindling financial fortunes, Ikechukwu travelled back to Brazil where he was based with a promise to his wife that he would return in 2003. He did not return until 2011.

On his way back through Cameroon, he was arrested, tried and jailed for three years over drug-related offences. “During his period of imprisonment, his wife was visiting him frequently to take care of his needs. She spent all her life savings estimated at about N850,000, catering to her jailed husband’s needs until he regained his freedom and returned to Nigeria in 2013,” stated Eze.

Upon his return, he moved in with his wife into his personal house at No. 7, Okoye Close, Iyana-Iba Estate, Igbo Elerin, Lagos. Sometime in December 2014, after thoroughly beating and inflicting grievous bodily injuries on his wife, he invited his relations and claimed that he discovered a charm in his wife’s bag.

He decided to send his wife away. A meeting of representatives of both families was called with the community chief of his village, Chief Ezeani and his own father, Mr. Anajekwu Okanumee present. The suspect’s father said that what his son saw in his wife’s bag was prepared by him and given to her for protection against evil attacks.

The suspect’s father further explained that he had to prepare the protection after he and his daughter-in-law, Obiageli developed swollen legs which were later treated by a traditional healer. The healer divulged those responsible and recommended the protective charms in order to ward off further evil attacks.

Ikechukwu’s father suggested that if he was insistent on sending Obiageli away, then he should set up a supermarket for her and refund her the money she spent taking care of him while he was in prison in Cameroon. The suspect agreed to this proposal to set up a business for his wife and refund money spent on him before they would go their separate ways.

It was, however, agreed that his wife would remain with him until he fulfilled all the agreements which he said he would do after he had sold his house at No. 7. Okoye Close, Iyana Iba Estate. While the deceased was still waiting for her husband to set up the business for her and pay her back the money as agreed, the suspect, on January 19, 2015 again, battered her.

Eze said: “He tore his wife’s clothes and threw her out by 1.00am with her property, leaving her with injuries all over her body; the head and around her neck. Obiageli ran to her friend, Chinyere’s house. Chinyere, seeing her condition, advised her to report the case to the police and she lodged a report of the incident at the police station.” The police did not intervene until she died two days later on January 21, 2015, at Chinyere’s house.

Obiageli was said to have slumped in her friend’s house and when Chinyere called Ikechukwu to inform him that his wife had slumped, he allegedly said that he did not know her and that it was not his business if she died. Chinyere and her husband got police to arrest Ikechukwu on February 23, 2015, after he had been on the run.

The National Coordinator of NOPRIN, Mr. Okechukwu Nwanguma kicked, alleging sloppy police handling of the investigation. He said: “Police investigation has been very slow and tardy, making the family suspect that they may not get justice. The police have demanded and received various sums of money from the victim’s family for embalmment and autopsy but are yet to charge the matter to court.

The victim’s family has also requested for police protection for the primary witnesses who are under threat by the suspect who has continued to threaten them should they testified against him. The victims’ family informed us that Ikechukwu issued threats to the prime witnesses, Chinyere and her husband Theo Onyeli. Armed men later stormed their house located on 20, Okonkwo Street, Igbo Elerin, and Iyana Iba Estate.

They did not meet them at home and they made away with a laptop containing pictorial evidence of injuries on late Obiageli, inflicted on her by her husband.” According to Eze, ever since he discovered that Ikechukwu had been using his sister as punching bag, he told her to be prayerful, especially after he noticed that Obiageli was not ready to walk out of the abusive relationship. The stormy relationship snowballed after Obiageli travelled to the village and returned on January 19.

“I wasn’t there, but my sister’s friend, Mrs. Chinyere, told me that he started beating her, asking her what she went to the village to do,” narrated Eze.

“She eventually ran to Chinyere’s house. It was around 1: am that we got a call from Obiageli, saying that her husband had beaten her again. Chinyere later told us that she slumped around 5pm. They called her husband, but he ignored them. He said he didn’t know her. I begged them to take her to hospital.”

Obiageli was rushed to hospital, but died on the way. Eze, who fought tears, narrated: “We want justice to prevail in this matter. The most annoying part is that even after the incident, Ikechukwu didn’t call any of our family members. This is a murder case! We want it to be treated as such.”

Eze alleged that some members of Ikechukwu’s family contributed to the tension in the marriage by repeatedly nagging him to send Obiageli away and marry another woman who would give him a child. Several people had also told Obiageli that, “there’s no marriage that doesn’t have one or two problems, that with time, things would get better, thus she stayed with Ikechukwu,” said Eze. The case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

After much delay on the part of the police to charge the matter to court, compelling the deceased’s family to involve NOPRIN, the matter was finally charged to court on March 13, 2015. Ikechukwu, 57, was arraigned at the Ebute-Meta Magistrate’s Court, Oyingbo, Lagos. He was charged for the murder.

According to the police, Obiageli was killed through severe beating with punches and repeated kicks. The police stated: “The deceased refusal to disclose her mission to the village to the accused, led to quarreling which resulted into a fight. The man severely beat his wife to the extent she sustained injuries all over her body and her chest.

The victim, who couldn’t cope with the pains sustained from the beating, died.” Ikechukwu who trembled like somebody suffering from fever at the court, kept mute when the charges were read to him.

He also didn’t reply when he was asked, “guilty or not guilty.” He was subsequently remanded in prison. The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Badejo Okunsanya adjourned the case to April 13, 2014.
