Anambra PDP Will Cooperate With APGA — Peter Obi

The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has assured that the PDP members in the National Assembly will work with APGA for the ultimate good and progress of the State. He said this yesterday during the presentation of Certificates of Return to those that won the Senatorial and House of Representatives seats in the State.

Flanked by the Senator-elect for Anambra South, Sen. Andy Uba; Hon. Uche Ekwunife (Central); and Princess Stella Oduah (Anambra North), Obi said that the benefit of having three of them in one party was that they would work together for the good of Anambra State in particular and Nigeria in general. He expressed happiness that Anambra has ranking members in House to ensure that the State benefitted from distribution of Committees and other related matters.

Asked to comment on Gov. Willie Obiano’s broadcast, where he said that the National Assembly election was rigged and the actual reasons why the PDP did not win a single House of Assembly seat in the last election, Obi , who said that he was not given to careless talk, said that the National Assembly election was peaceful and orderly unlike the election for the State Assembly that was fraught with massive inducement, threat to lives and property and many other atrocities.

He however said that since it had given the Governor the APGA members that he said he needed to work with, that the prayers of every Anambra man was for the Governor to build on the foundations already laid for the good of the people of the State.

Speaking on those foundations Obi recalled that it was under his Government that the State built the first Secretariat, built the first Teaching Hospital; returned schools to the Church and invested so much in education that the State came first in NECO and WAEC for three consecutive years; rebuilt Onitsha, especially the ten-lane Upper-Iweka Head bridge dual Carriage road; provided many vehicles to security agencies as well as started the demolition of houses owned by, or used for kidnapping; started two major hotels for the State and three shopping complexes in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi.

Obi who also recalled that it was under him that the Federal Ministry of Works adjudged Anambra as the best in network of roads and the Debt Management Office adjudged the State as the least in indebtedness, prayed that those standard should be maintained and built upon.

Calling for judicious use of State resources, he said it was precisely the reason why, in spite of his great achievements, he was able to save and leave 75 Billion Naira in cash and investment after he left office, even when others left debts for their States. “As it is today the dollar component of the money we left has appreciated to almost 40 Billion Naira”, Obi said.

Five Ways To Tell If A Girl Has Grown To Being A Lady.

In previous threads of mine, the words "girls" and "ladies" have been misconstrued.

It behoves on me to enlighten us on how to tell if a Girl is a Lady or just some Simbi girlie cheesy

This is totally applicable in Nigeria too. Probably, you have a girl you can't tell if she is a Lady or just a girl. With these few points, you can. They are:

1. She Goes On A Date With Her Own Cash

What if the guy decides to be naughty? Will you be at his mercy? What if the "date" didn't go down well? He leaves and your empty purse punishes you! tongue

2. She Doesn't Argue With Guys In Public (Social Network )

If she is busy e-fighting everyone on NL and she opens her mouth and says, "Don't talk to a lady that way"- Close that mouth. You be girl- Simbi is a girl. Not a Lady!

3. She Isn't Whorish In Dressing

A lady is a girl with a class and not a girl seeking some cheap attention by exposing cleavages. A lady is a woman who believes more in brainpower than in her boobs power. Don't get it twisted, a lady has more trust in her brain than her butt.

4. She Speaks Only When Spoken To

I'm not promoting girls forming "dumb". What I'm saying is, she knows when to contribute and when she does, it is with maturity not sillily. As the quote says, " The wise talk when they have something to say, fools talk when they have to say something. .

5. She Represents You Well Before Her Friends

She is not the type that will use vulgar words in describing her guy. E.g, "Don't mind that stingy mumu, I asked him for #30k, he gave me only #5k". No wonder your friends go behind you to see how "mumuish" he is. sad

Zimbabwe begins evacuation of its citizens from South Africa

Zimbabwe's High Commissioner to South Africa, Isaac Moyo says the Zimbabwean government has concluded plans to begin the evacuation of about 1,000 Zimbabweans resident in South Africa following the recent xenophobic attacks in the country.

"Identification and processing of repatriation documents has already been done. It is very sad. Most people do not have any documentation. They don't have any clothes apart from what they are wearing. Many of them left all their clothes and property behind. We are documenting people. This process means that we are giving them some sort of documentation to use upon returning to Zimbabwe. We are organising some buses to take them from Durban to Beit Bridge (the border between South Africa and Zimbabwe). Then they will be taken from Beit Bridge to their home provinces. We would want (the departure) to be as soon as possible. People are currently living in the most difficult conditions" he told the state-owned Chronicle newspaper today.

Drama As Two PDP Candidates Struggle For INEC Certificate Of Return In Enugu

Ikechukwu Ugwuegede and Patrick Asadu, both members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), staged a mild drama at the head office of INEC in Enugu on Friday.

Both men presented themselves to collect the certificate of return for the Nsukka/Igboeze south federal constituency during the issuing of certificates of return to the governor-elect and national assembly members-elect.

Gladys Nwafor, the INEC national commissioner for Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi, refused to releas the certificate to either of them despite their pleas.

Ugwuegede and Asadu have been engulfed in a legal tussle over the party’s candidature for the election.

Asadu, a member of the house of representatives, secured a ruling at the federal high court sitting in Abuja recognising him as the right candidate for the election but Ugwuegede appealed the ruling.

Appealing to other elected officials to fulfill their campaign promises to the people, Nwafor described the day as unique for INEC and the government of the state.

“We are here to give certificates of return to whom the electorate has given the mandate to serve,” she said.

“It has not been an easy task for both the commission and the contestants. I call it a divine mandate to serve the people.

“Enugu state is one of the most peaceful states and I am happy to be associated with the state.”

In his acceptance speech, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor-elect, promised to deliver selfless service to the people and take the state to the next level.

Ugwuanyi assured the people of a transparent and an all-inclusive government.

“On behalf of everyone elected, I will like to say a big thank you to the God of David and Abraham for making this day possible,” he said.

“We will not fail you. I want to thank INEC for delivering credible and transparent elections. The people have spoken and God has sealed it.”

Gilbert Nnaji who represents Enugu east and Chukwuka Utazi elected to represent Enugu north, received their certificates.

Other national assembly members-elect who received their certificates are Chime Oji (Enugu north/south), Kingsley Ebenyi (Enugu east/Isi-Uzo) and Chukwuemeka Ujam (Nkanu east/Nkanu west).

Stella Ngwu (Igboetiti/Uzo Uwani), Dennis Agbo (Udenu/Igboeze north) and Dennis Amadi (Udi/Ezeagu) also received their certificates.

Meanwhile, Ike Ekweremadu (Enugu west senatorial zone) and Toby Okechukwu (Oji River/Awgu/Aninri constituency) were absent during the presentation.

While the government said the cause of the ailment was not known, other sources from the community blamed the death on some people that defiled the shrine of the community deity known as Malokun.

According to the source, strange death was caused by some people who incurred the wrath of the deity when they stole some artifacts from the shrine.

Stating that the government had put necessary machinery in motion to control the disease, Governor Olusegun Mimiko said samples collected did not show that the victims died of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

deaths were preceded by symptoms of sudden blurred vision, headache and loss of consciousness.

"It must be said that the team was despatched to the communities affected and the General Hospital as well as other health facilities,

to gather needed information about the nature, scope and circumstances of the outbreak..

"I must state that the symptoms in this situation are not peculiar to any known epidemic and so have remained largely confounding.

"Specifically, it must be stressed, the symptoms observed in the two communities of Ayadi and Ode Irele bear no resemblance to those

associated with the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)", he said.
