Fani-kayode To Tinubu: 'I’m Not Funsho Williams, I Cannot Be Killed Like A Chicken'

The verbal assaults between Femi Fani-Kayode, director of media and publicity for the PDP presidential campaign organisation, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) took a new turn on Monday. Reacting to the criticisms directed at him for insinuating that Yemi osibanjo, the running mate to APC’s presidential candidate, was planning to step down for Bola Tinubu, Fani-Kayode pointed accusing fingers at Tinubu over the death of Funsho Williams.

Williams, a gubernatorial candidate in Lagos, was murdered under controversial circumstances on July 27, 2006. “I do not believe in violence and I do not threaten people neither do any of my boys or any of those behind me,” Fani-Kayode wrote on Facebook. “Tinubu should not start this. I am not Funso Williams. I cannot be killed like a chicken. I cannot be destroyed. I cannot be taken before my time.

My name is Femi Fani-Kayode, and nobody can kill me before my time. Nobody can cut me short. “I harbor no fear of violence but I do not take threats lightly. Neither do I fear for my life; because I have never shed innocent blood and because I do not believe in violence or worship the devil, the angel of the Lord will strike dead any person or any group of persons that seek to take my life or the life of any of my loved ones.”

555 Pvcs Of Dead Persons Found In Ogun State

At least 555 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) belonging to dead residents from the 21 Local Government Areas of Ogun State have been discovered by the electoral commission while giving out the cards to voters.

The dead residents were registered in 2011.

The discovery was made known on Monday by the Ogun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Timothy Ibitoye.

Briefing reporters in his office at the Presidential Boulevard in Abeokuta, the state’s capital, Mr Ibitoye gave a breakdown of the number of PVCs distributed so far and the number of registered voters in the state.

While putting the records straight on the number of registered voters, the INEC commissioner said 1,795,794 voters registered in the state, as against 1,370,340, being quoted in some quarters.

Mr Ibitoye said the commission had distributed 860,076 PVCs, representing 63 per cent of the total registered PVCs while about 425,454 were still being expected from Abuja.

However, the Ogun INEC informed the residents of its readiness for the forthcoming election, saying that elections would be conducted in all the 3,210 polling units across the 236 wards of the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, had earlier appealed to the INEC to speed up the distribution of the PVCs in the state.

The State government had organised a mobilisation and sensitisation forum, with the aim of educating the electorates on the forth coming general elections.

DSS Allegedly Invites Pastor Musa-Dikwa Who Claimed Jonathan Gave N7bn To CAN

A Borno-based Pastor, Kallamu Musa-Dikwa, who claimed that the money given to Pastors by the President Goodluck Jonathan was actually N7billion and not N6billion as alleged by Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has been invited by the Department of State Services, DSS.

In a text message to one of our correspondent Tuesday morning, Pastor Dikwa said: “I have just been invited by the DSS. On my way to Abuja.”

Dikwa’s allegation had caused a stir among the Christian clerics, with the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and the Northern State Christian Elders Forum asking him to name the church leaders, who collected the huge bribe.

DAILY POST recalls that Musa-Dikwa, who is the Executive Director of the Voice of Northern Christian Movement, told journalists in Kaduna about two weeks ago that the said money was channelled through the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

Musa-Dikwa said the CAN got the said money (N7bn) on January 26, 2015 and disbursed N3m to each State Chairmen of the CAN across the country.

Musa-Dikwa, who was an Associate Pastor with the E. Y. N. Church, Farm Centre, Dikwa Road, Maiduguri, Borno State, under Rev. Emmanuel Kwajihe between 2002 and 2004, said the CAN had started threatening Christians in the state (Borno) that they must re-elect Jonathan in the rescheduled election.

“It was N7bn that was given to the CAN leadership by President Goodluck Jonathan. They (CAN) later disbursed N3m to the State Chairmen of the CAN,” Musa-Dikwa alleged.

“The money was handed over to the CAN Leadership on 26th January, 2015.”

“Actually, President Jonathan is using CAN President, and it was the CAN President who collected the monies and shared N3m to the CAN executives in each state.

“And some Pentecostal Bishops also collected their share. Actually, the money is not N6bn, it is N7bn. This is what I know.

“One of the CAN officials from Abuja told me that they have collected the money. The corruption in CAN is terrible.

“They are corrupting the body of Christ because of money.

“They are now threatening Christians in Borno State that they will deal with anybody, who refuses to vote for Jonathan.

“And the CAN officials are now campaigning that if Buhari emerges President, he will Islamise Nigeria; and that Osinbajo collected monies from Islamic world; and that the same Osinbajo will resign soon after Buhari wins to give way for Tinubu to emerge Vice President,” Musa-Dikwa further alleged.

Musa-Dikwa also named some high-profile clerics, who had benefitted from the controversial largesse to actualise the re-election bid of Jonathan.

Nigeria Corruption Rating Is Political, Overblown – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has said that the perception that Nigeria’s corruption has worsened under his leadership is an overblown assessment with political undertones.

The President, who spoke Monday night in an interview with Aljazera, said despite the country’s position in the global corruption perception index, the perception that corruption has worsened under his administration is inaccurate.

In 2014, Transparency International ranked Nigeria was ranked 136th out of 175 countries and territories, with a score of 27.

According to TI, a country or territory’s score indicate the perceived level of public sector corruption on a scale of 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).

The latest ranking, though better than its ranking of 144thout of 177 countries and territories, with a score of 25, recorded the previous year, still categorised Nigeria among some of the world’s most corrupt countries, including Cameroun, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon and Russia.

South Africa, ranked the second largest economy in Africa, fared far better, with a ranking of 67 and a score of 44.

Also, the Thabo Mbeki High Level Panel report on Illicit Financial Flows from Africa noted during the recent summit of the African Union Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa that Nigeria accounted for about 68.1 per cent of the cumulative revenue Africa lost between 2001 and 2010 through corruption and illegal transfers.

But the President insisted that even with Nigeria’s dismal anti-corruption record, both globally and in Africa, its perception both within and outside the country was blown out of proportion for political gains.

“Yes, people talk about corruption now, because it has become a political issue,” Mr. Jonathan said. “And when you promote something to the level of politics, normally it is blown out of proportion.

“Yes, we have corruption cases, no doubt about that. Yes, we have cases of people stealing, no doubt about that. I always said call a thief a thief. I am not saying that in Nigeria we do not have these elements of corruption, or stealing.

He cited the controversy triggered by claims by the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Lamido Sanusi, now the Emir of Kano, that $49.8 billion oil money was unremitted by state-owned national oil company, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, between 2011 and 2012.

After various reconciliations by both the National Assembly, the Federal Ministry of Finance and the NNPC, the amount that remained unaccounted for was reduced to $20billion, but a forensic audit by PriceWater HouseCoopers ordered by government turned in a report in 2014 that government has refused to make public.

The President said he was yet to come to terms with what the real figures involved in the allegation were, apparently because of politics.

“If you start from my former CBN governor, who said initially that $49.8billion was missing. $49.8billion is a lot of money. What is the budget of this country for God’s sake? Our federal budget has been three point something trillion, that’s roughly on the average $18 to $20 billion a year.

“And you are saying we lost $49.8 billion. If we lose $49.8 billion, the federal and state governments will not pay salaries. I don’t know how he came by that figure.

“The next moment, he changed from $49.8billion to $12billion. The next day it was $20 billion. Up to this time, I don’t know which is the correct accusation,” he claimed.

According to the President, the Senate employed the services of financial consultants to probe the allegation, and it turned out that only about $2 billion was found not to have been properly balanced.

“There was no evidence to show that it was stolen, but just that it was not properly balanced,” he declared.

The President had in one of his media chats insisted that stealing is not corruption.

In another outing, he tried to explain further what he meant by “stealing is not corruption”.

He says most of what are perceived to be corruption in Nigeria are mere cases of petty stealing by officials.

U.S. Lawmakers Warn Nigerian Government Against Further Shift Of Elections

http://ift.tt/1AAZE1r

The U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee has passed a unanimously bipartisan legislation to condemn the activities of the insurgent group in Nigeria, Boko Haram.

The Committee, chaired by U.S. Representative, Ed Royce, lambasted the group over its bloody attacks, which has left thousands of citizens dead, while several hundreds of thousands of others have been displaced from their homes.

The Committee also highlighted the significance of Nigeria’s forthcoming elections, stressing the dire consequences of any further shift in the schedule.

Specifically, the legislation introduced by a Representative, Robin Kelly, condemned Boko Haram, describing its series of attacks on innocent men, women, and children in northeastern Nigeria as ‘cowardly’.

In spite of the activities of Boko Haram, which has posed serious security concerns and threat to the elections, the lawmakers urged the Nigerian government to do everything to ensure it held a safe and credible election without further delay.

In addition, the legislation applauded the efforts of the African Union to raise a standing regional force to combat Boko Haram and expresses support for a robust security assistance to the new force.

After the resolution was passed, the Committee Chairman said: “It’s no wonder that Boko Haram is being called the ISIS of Africa.”

He recalled that in January, Boko Haram had launched one of its worst attacks, which saw thousands of innocent citizens killed, adding that the Committee resolution condemned in its entirety those brutal attacks.

The lawmakers encouraged the Nigerian government to continue to work with the United States and the neighbouring countries of Chad, Niger and Cameroun to defeat the bloody group, pointing out that the government needed to ensure that the new coalition forces authorized by the African Union has the tools needs to get the job done.

This resolution also urged the Nigerian government to avoid further shift in the election schedule and adhere to the new election time table of March 28 for presidential and National Assembly elections.

The elections for the governors and the members of the various state legislatures is scheduled for April 11.

Besides, the lawmakers also called on all the candidates of the various political parties to uphold their commitments to prevent political violence, which they noted was not “uncommon in Nigeria.”

Last year, the Committee, during a hearing entitled, “Boko Haram: The Growing Threat to Schoolgirls, Nigeria, and Beyond”, critically examined the President Goodluck Jonathan administration’s response to the insurgent activities of Boko Haram.”

Prior to the hearing, the Chairman met with Deborah Peter, a 15-year-old girl from Chibok community, where nearly about 234 schoolgirls were abducted by Boko Haram.

Ms. Peter was the first female survivor of a Boko Haram attack to visit Washington, D.C.

Flavour – “Though I Have A Baby Mama, I Am Still Single And Searching”

I guess this clears up a lot of rumors and stories.

I know this comes as good news to women everywhere as Flavour opens up on his relationship status.

Despite fathering a child less than 6 months ago, the singer has declared himself available in a recent interview with City People Magazine.

“Yes though I have a baby mama, I am still single and searching”. he said.

“Not that I wouldn’t want to get married one day, I will definitely get married but I don’t have the time to settle down for marriage now. I am all over the place pursuing my career. I will want to give my family attention and the best when I finally decide to settle down as my parents gave me. My family raised me up by monitoring my activities so I will like to do same for my family. But that is not my priority now because I need more time to plan for that and I need to pursue my career first”he added

Jim Iyke Is Not The Father Of Nadia Buari’s Twins.

Funny enough, I was just arguing with a friend about this yesterday and I guess this means I was right.

Reports hit the net just recently of Nadia Buari’s delivery of twins, many suspected that her baby daddy would be ex-fiance, Jim Iyke, but is he really the father?

According to reports from Ghana, Jim Iyke, who proposed to Buari in one of the episodes of his reality show, ‘Jim Iyke: Unscripted’, is not the father of the child.

Vanessa Gyan, who hosts the Late Nite Celebrity Show on e.TV, revealed that the actress gave birth in the presence of her mother and brother in an hospital in Atlanta, and her fiancé showed up later.

She added that Jim Iyke is not the father of Nadia’s twins and that Nadia is currently engaged to the father of her twins.

According to another report, Nadia and the baby daddy attended University together.

Group Raises Alarm Over Presidency, PDP Plot To Assassinate Buhari.

JASPER AZUATALAM

Buhari Vanguard, a group supporting the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, has accused the Nigerian Presidency and the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, of a sinister plot to assassinate Mr. Buhari.

In a statement on Monday, the Buhari Vanguard said they had become “extremely concerned” over the safety of the APC candidate.

Chairman of the group, Jasper Azuatalam, said “We cannot close our eyes and pretend that we do not see danger.

We suspect that the PDP and the Presidency must be up to something sinister and may just be watering the ground for a soft landing when it is finally executed.

“We express fear that some people may be targeting to assassinate Gen Muhammadu Buhari and turn round to claim that it is their prophecy fulfilled.

“We have not forgotten that late last year, Gen Muhammadu Buhari narrowly escaped death when his convoy was attacked by a suicide bomber two days after he accused the Presidency of not doing enough to ensure the security of lives and properties of Nigerians.

“President Jonathan set up an inquiry into the attack, but we have not heard anything about the inquiry till date”.

According to the group, the recent paid advertorials on national newspapers by some prominent PDP members, particularly Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, predicting Mr. Buhari’s death are part of a plot to test the waters before carrying out their motive.

“The spokesperson of the President Jonathan’s 2015 campaign has severely turned into a prophet of doom by prophesying the death and incapacitation of Gen Muhammadu Buhari”, Mr. Azuatalam said.

“They have forged false medical reports claiming that Gen Buhari has a terminal sickness. They have spread rumours of death and incapacitation about Gen Muhammadu Buhari when there is no sign of fever in Buhari”.

The group wondered why questions are being asked about Mr. Buhari’s health after he had contested in three general elections and “remained healthy and strong”.

“One cannot but imagine why the Presidency and the PDP is trying to convince Nigerians that Gen Muhammadu Buhari cannot live up to four years if elected president of Nigeria this year”, said Mr. Azuatalam said.

“The Presidency and PDP have publicly announced that the fate of Umaru Musa Yar’adua will (befall) Gen Buhari. The latest is that they have started predicting those who will take over office from Gen Buhari, if he is elected as President of Nigeria and dies like they have predicted”.

The group, therefore, called on Nigerians and the international community to “keep an eye” on the Presidency and the PDP regarding Mr. Buhari’s safety.

“The PDP and Presidency have almost exhausted all avenues to stop Gen Buhari from contesting the 2015 general elections, now they are scheming to scuttle the whole election in its entirety.

“Who can tell if the only option remaining to stop change in Nigeria will not be to assassinate the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen Muhammadu Buhari”.

Congo Military Kill Rebels, Gains Ground In Drive To Crush Insurgency.

The Congolese army has killed not less than 10 rebel fighters and also captured territory, weapons as well as men during its latest campaign to stamp out an insurgency in the east of the country, the government spokesman said on Sunday. Reuters report:

Seven rebel fighters have been killed in fighting near the town of Tongo in North Kivu province since Saturday and a government soldier was also killed there, spokesman Lambert Mende told Reuters.

Three rebels were killed earlier in South Kivu. The push began last week in North and South Kivu against the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda — a force at the heart of two decades of conflict in the region that borders Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda, he said.

“They (the rebels) are being chased. They are abandoning the majority of their arms,” spokesman Lambert Mende told Reuters. The rebel force of an estimated 1,400 fighters includes some former soldiers and militiamen responsible for Rwanda’s 1994 genocide. They have exploited the region’s gold, diamond and tin deposits and waged periodic war with the Kinshasa government and other armed groups since fleeing to Congoat the end of the genocide.

Millions died of conflict, hunger and disease during a war in Congo’s east between 1998 and 2003 and the region remains plagued by armed factions.

Iran Calls Barack Obama’s 10 Year Nuclear Demand ‘Unacceptable’

Iran rejected and termed “unacceptable” U.S. President Barack Obama’s demand that it freeze sensitive nuclear activities for at least 10 years on Tuesday, but said it would continue talks aimed at securing a deal, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported. Reuters was there:

“Iran will not accept excessive and illogical demands,” Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was quoted as saying by Fars. “Obama’s stance … is expressed in unacceptable and threatening phrases … ,” he reportedly said, adding that negotiations underway in Switzerland would nonetheless carry on.

Zarif and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry sat down for a second day of meetings hours after Obama had told Reuters that Iran must commit to a verifiable halt of at least 10 years on sensitive nuclear work for a landmark atomic deal to be reached.

The aim of the negotiations is to persuade Iran to restrain its nuclear program in exchange for relief from sanctions that have crippled the oil exporter’s economy.

The United States and some of its allies, notably Israel, suspect Iran of using its civil nuclear program as a cover to develop a nuclear weapons capability.

Iran denies this, saying it is for peaceful purposes such as generating electricity.

Kerry and Zarif met in the Swiss lakeside town of Montreux as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepared to criticize the diplomacy in a speech to Congress in Washington.

Tinubu Arrested Twice In US For Drugs, Money Issues; Lai Muhammed Wears Pampers - FFK

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who is the Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO), has alleged that former Lagos Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was arrested twice over money laundering and drug-related offences in the United States of America.

In a statement released to newsmen, Fani-Kayode also declared that All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), is in trouble.

“Whether the APC wishes me well or not, I shall live long and prosper. What they think about me is neither here nor there and I lose no sleep over it. It is only what God thinks about me that matters and they are not God. They do not like me and I do not like them and that is fine by me. We do not need to like each other and all we need to do is to meet in the field.

“I do not need their good wishes and neither do I crave their goodwill. Rather than continuously talking about me and making infantile and primitive statements, they should spend their time praying for the soul of the late and great PDP leader, Chief Funso Williams, who would have been governor of Lagos State, who was mysteriously murdered a few years ago by a group of evil, power-hungry and callous men, and who was a formidable political adversary of Tinubu. We pray every day that God should avenge Funso Williams and bring those that killed him to justice.

“We suggest that the APC purge themselves of their obvious obsession with me and instead pray for the fortunes of their candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari because he is in trouble and he is surrounded by snakes and vampires. They should pray that God will keep General Buhari safe from the enemy within. The problem with the Tinubu wing of the APC is that they are so used to dishing out rubbish about other people that it has affected their minds and their ability to say anything reasonable or rational.

“The truth is that their leader, Tinubu belongs in a sanatorium for the mentally unbalanced and a maximum security prison for the power obsessed rather than in any political party. As for the quisling and minion called Lai Mohammed I refuse to respond to him unless and until he starts talking sense, cures himself of his chronic bad breath and desists from wearing pampers.

“The only people that are caving in under pressure here are the APC, their presidential candidate, General Buhari and their de facto leader Tinubu. The closer we get to March 28, the more they panic and the more falsehood and rubbish that they spew out. As I have said before, they have become prisoners of their own delusions and fantasies and victims of their own hallucinations. Tinubu, their de facto leader, should tell Nigerians why they should take him seriously after he was arrested on no less than two occasions by the American authorities for money laundering.

“On the first occasion, the arrest was for drug-related money laundering issues in Chicago and, on the second occasion, he was arrested for money laundering-related matters in Seattle, Washington whilst he was Governor of Lagos State. On both occasions he begged the

authorities like a baby and was eventually forced to settle out of court with the American Justice Department by forfeiting a percentage of the money after a successful plea bargain. If not for that settlement and plea bargain, Tinubu would have been in an American jail by now. This is the man whose minions and acolytes like Lai Mohammed are now pontificating about national issues and throwing stones.

“The APC falsely accuse others of wrongdoing whilst there is ample evidence to show that their de facto leader Tinubu was once involved in laundering drug-related money in the United States of America. What an irony that a man with such a filthy past has now managed to gain total control of Nigeria’s main opposition party.

“Tinubu should count himself lucky that Nigerians have short memories and that he is not in jail because that is where he deserves to be. He should also prepare himself for the greatest humiliation and defeat of his political career because after March 28, his ambition of becoming de facto president of Nigeria will crumble before his very eyes and would have gone with the wind.”

PDP Will Win Over 90% Votes Across Nigeria - Akpabio

Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State said, having taken stock of preparations for the forthcoming general elections, it has become clear that the Peoples Democratic Party would win the March 28 Presidential election on the first ballot.

He boasted that the party’s candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, would win over 90 percent of the votes cast across the country.

“The meeting was just to take stock of the situation on ground and the report is very favourable. It looks like on the first ballot, we will win well over 90 percent of the votes across Nigeria,” Akpabio told State House correspondents at the end of a marathon meeting Jonathan had with PDP governors and governorship candidates at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday evening.

Akpabio, who is the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, said it was clear that the opposition was already in disarray ahead of the elections.

He said he had always insisted that propaganda that the opposition is known for could only take one to a limit after which the reality would be clear.

He said with the latest development, Nigerians were now aware of the giant strides of the present administration in the different sectors of the nation’s economy.

The governor said in the four years of Jonathan’s administration, the President had performed better than any President in the history of the country.

He said, “Today, Nigerians are much more aware of what the PDP administration under President Goodluck Jonathan has been doing.

“I want to commend not only the President but also members of the Federal Executive Council who have opened the eyes of Nigerians to know that so many things have been done in the different sectors of the economy.

“It was as if people did not know these things because the opposition took over and they kept saying PDP was doing nothing. Yet, in four years of the President’s tenure, he has achieved far more than any President had ever done in the history of our country.

“We are very proud of the achievements of the PDP, not just at the federal level but also at the different states.

“If you want to assess state-by-state, pick the opposition’s best APC state in Nigeria and compare it with the best state of the PDP, you will see that we tower above the opposition in all ramifications.

“The next election, particularly the election of March 28 will be about performance and issues. Nigerians have since gone above the level of tribalism and ethnic or religion differences. God put us together in this country and He knew that we are a multiplicity of religions and tribes.”

Akpabio said the same way Nigerians came together in 2011 and voted for Jonathan, they would return him based on the fact that he has performed creditably and that the PDP has discharged its responsibilities to Nigerians to the best of its ability based on available resources.

The headline to this article is atrocious. Makes it sound like she was just an innocent victim of an unruly mob. She refused to be searched and had 2 plastic bottles under her head scarf which were attached to her waist. Is that normal behavior and attire?

"Is that normal behavior and attire?"

It's the behavior of an advanced scout for the Islamists, testing security levels. If she had gotten through the checkpoint, she would most likely have been followed by an actual bomber, or she would have returned later with explosives instead of water bottles.

I do not want to offend anyone, but it seems that radical Muslims have 'made' every Muslim in the world a legitimate suspect and target. Is The Igbo Language Going Into Extinction?

The Longman dictionary of contemporary English defined extinction as ‘’when a type of person, custom, language stops existing’’.

Examples of extinct languages in Nigeria includes (a) Ajawa; formerly spoken in Bauchi State, Nigeria. It became extinct between 1920 and 1940 as speakers switched to Hausa.

(b) Kpati; formerly spoken in Taraba state, speakers now speak Hausa.

(c) Basa Gunma; it’s an extinct Kainji language of Nigeria formerly spoken by people around Niger and Nasarawa states, speakers now speak Hausa.

This is to mention but a few. You can check this link for more on extinct Nigerian languages.

http://ift.tt/1uUU6jm

It is no longer news that UNESCO in 2012 predicted that Igbo language might become extinct in the next 50 years. To some it is impossible, but it unsettles me, and I make bold to say that it is a possibility. I will tell you why.

There are about 500 languages spoken in Nigeria today, in them you will find Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba being spoken by a larger population in Nigeria. In other words, these three are the masquerades (Mgbadike) of the Nigeria languages. The fact Igbo language instead of gaining communication height in the hierarchy of languages is currently moving in the downward trend because of the rate at which the Igbos especially the youths are shying away from their language with reckless abandon.

Let us use our parents as a case study to x-ray UNESCO’s prediction. There is no doubt that our parents understands and speak Igbo, but how many of their children can effectively communicate in Igbo language? Even the ones that knows it prefers to communicate with their brethren in English. If in the next 50 years, our parents passes on to the great beyond leaving behind their children who cannot or refuse to communicate in Igbo, don’t you think that UNESCO’s prediction has come to pass then?

From my research and observations, it is only the older generation of Igbos (40 years and above) that speak the language both in the cities and in the rural places. The worst hit are the female folks especially the younger ones (30 years and below) they understand the language but refuse to speak it. Listen to a Hausa person speak to a fellow Hausa, you will never hear English in their communication, in the same way, when I speak Igbo to an Igbo person I make sure I don’t add English and yet over 90% of my female friends will reply me fully in English. This shows that they understand the language but refuse to speak it.

Among the male counterpart, it is only those that didn’t go to school that proudly speaks the language. It gladdens my heart anytime I go to the market to buy things (Lagos and Abuja), there you will see Igbo traders and business men proudly speaking the language, but it is not so when you visit our universities or meet our graduates on the road.

I once asked a female Corp member posted to serve in our office why she prefers to communicate in English instead of Igbo to her fellow Igbos, she told me that if she speak Igbo people will see her as an illiterate and a local girl. Gosh!!! Why do the Yoruba and Hausa people not have this type of silly mentality that is prevalent among Igbo Youths?

I feel ashamed that my Hausa and Yoruba colleagues will see their people and say stuffs like Inakwana, Inaoni, Ekaro, Ekaso (i.e morning and day greetings in those languages) But the Igbos will see each other and start saying things like: Nna how far, good morning and good afternoon. Hardly will you see an Igbo person that will greet you with: Nna kedu, Ututu Oma, Ibolachi, Kaoo, Jokwaa etc. This is not only prevalent among the Igbos of the South East, the Igbos of Rivers and Delta states where my mom hails from are equally guilty.

English is a means of communication between people of different tribes since Nigeria is a multilingual country. People of the same tribe should not use English to talk to each other. It is a sick thing for an Igbo person to communicate in English to a fellow Igbo, you will never see a Hausa person communicating in English to his tribal person. If you are Igbo and you don’t know how to speak the language, it is actually a shame, it’s your number one identity, and so you should go and learn it. Nobody is asking you to go and serve your ancestor’s deity but to speak your language.

Asking a young Igbo person to say the numbers or naira value in Igbo language is like asking them to trek from Abuja to Aba. I could remember an episode with an Igbo woman that sells roasted yam opposite PHCN office in Maitama Abuja. Below is our conversation.

Woman: Nna, Kedu ihe I choro? (Sir what do you want?)

Me: Biko nye m ji otu akpa ego (Please give me yam of N200)

Woman: I si gini (What did you say)

Me: A si m gi nye m ji otu akpa ego (I said you should give me N200 yam)

Woman: Gini bu otu akpa ego? (What is N200?)

Me: Obu na ibughi onye igbo, I maghi ihe ana akpo ego na asusu igbo (Are you not Igbo, don’t you know the names of money in Igbo)

Woman: A mabu m ya mbu, mana e chefuola m ya (I know it before but I have forgotten it).

Me: (Gets angry) Biko nye m ji N200 naira ka m rie si ebe a puo. (Please give me yam of N200 let me eat and get out of this place.

This woman is not alone on this. These days, it is hard to find Igbos who knows the Igbo meaning for some certain things. Gather people from different tribes in Abuja or Lagos and ask them what some certain things are called in their native language and you will see them boldly telling you but ask an Igbo person the name for Chameleon in his native language and you will see them looking at the skies as if the answer is going to fall from there, the best answer you will get is I used to know it before.

Those that still manages to speak Igbo language mixes it with English. Listen to someone talk in Igbo, you will discover that 40% of their speech contains English. It’s only among the elderly ones in the rural places that you can still find someone that speaks Igbo language flawlessly without adding an English word.

Hardly will you see non Igbos visiting or residing in the Igbo states learn Igbo language anymore because the inhabitants of those lands no longer speak Igbo language. But reverse is the case when Igbos are visiting Yoruba or Hausa states, just give them 6 months there, they will come back and speak those languages more than the original owners.

My elder brother’s wife is from Edo state but schooled in Madonna University Anambra state. The first time I met her I greeted her in Igbo and spoke some simple Igbo to her but to my greatest surprise she told me that she didn’t understand anything in what I just said. I became embarrassed and told her that I spoke Igbo to her because I was told she schooled in Anambra state and should have used the opportunity to learn some basic Igbo language. She told me that during her school days, the Igbos who are majority in her school (over 80%) hardly speak Igbo to each other, they always communicate in English, so how was she supposed to learn the language since the owners of the language seldom speaks it.

I know some people will say that I am exaggerating, but I want you to know that this is a research that has taking me 5 years since I came back to Nigeria after my studies (2010-2015) Don’t just hide behind the screen of your computer and gadgets and criticize me. Take a trip down to Nigeria if you are not here already, then you will understand what I am taking about. Visit all the major cities in Nigeria, south eastern states inclusive, then you will know that this downward trend of our dear language is really scary. If you think I am joking just pick up your phone right now and call any of your Igbo friend or family member and hear them speak then you will understand my lamentation.

Does it not bother you that we started Nollywood and over 80% of Nollywood stars have Igbo roots yet we don’t have a dedicated channel on DSTV whereas there are some channels dedicated to Hausa and Yoruba people.

If you are non-Igbo, I will advise that you steer clear of this thread, this is not the time for tribal war, it’s the time to bring to the consciousness of my Igbo brethren what is happening to us,but if you must contribute, please let it be constructive since nothing warms your blood than a thread that bashes the Igbos. And to my fellow Igbos, it is a wake-up call to all of us, it is time to bring this to bare, there is nothing to hide anymore, there is no better time to discuss this topic, it doesn’t matter if other tribes laugh at us now, the greatest scorn and laughter will be when UNESCO’s prediction will come to pass and we will be speaking English, Hausa and Yoruba in our villages. (A na eji bekee awa oji?) If we fail to do something fast, we will have a rude awakening and will become a laughing stock to other tribes soonest. And if nothing is done to correct this anomaly now, we will wake up one day to find Igbo language extinct like the others that have gone into extinction.

If you will make it a point of duty not to speak English to your fellow Igbos from today and to also spread this to your friends and family outside nairaland, I think our problem is already half solved. Be quick to correct your Igbo friends that speak English to you by reminding them that they are Igbos and should only speak Igbo language to you.

Igbo muru Nze muo Ozo, biko kulie nu na ura. Bido ta subara nwanne gi asusu Igbo.

#Suba asusu Igbo.

Ka Chineke mezie okwu.

Biology Teacher Infects 13 Students With HIV/AIDS

A Biology teacher in Adamawa State decision to practicalise his biology lessons has led to the infection of 13 students with HIV/AIDS. The sad incident occurred at Tappare-Ganye Community Islamic Centre, Adamawa state.

The teacher, Alhassan Adamu, was said to have started sexually assaulting his victims eight years ago, but it came into the open when one of his victims, scheduled to get married on March 13, started manifesting illness that was later discovered to be HIV/AIDS.

The would-be husband demanded health screening before the wedding. This led to the discovery of the randy teacher’s dirty game. The police spokesman in the state, DSP Othman Abubakar, said that the suspect was helping the State Criminal Investigation Department in its investigation.

Abubakar warned female students to be wary of randy teachers who would lure them on pretext of “mark grading”.

According to Punch, Seven year old Iretioluwa is like every other children, but what makes her different is her spiritual proclamations, which makes her an extra-human being. When Punch was invited by her parents saying “our daughter wants you”. It was like a call not too clear. But upon enquiry made by the editor of Punch, it was discovered that it was not just a call but a diving call that requires a diving response.

Ireti-Oluwa has become a friend of Jesus Christ upon whom she resides and proclaim messages for the world.

“Most times Jesus Christ appears to her and tells her lots of things especially hidden things which He (Jesus) wants us to know” declares the mother.

“But the most shocking of all she has been told is about men of God whom we reverence in this country and she told us to look for a Christian newspaper. In fact, she wrote the name of your magazine and we started looking for it” – the father cuts in.

We were ushered into the spacious living room of the Ifedayos when Iretioluwa was taking her breakfast. We waited for her to finish and we settled down for the business of the day.

Iretioluwa, a primary three pupil was so bold as she declared what she said was told her by Jesus Christ.

According to her, she said;

T.B. Joshua is an advocate of Satan in Nigeria, he has sold his soul to the devil and he knows hell is awaiting him.

Christ Oyakhilome made a vow to Satan and he has succeeded to win souls for Satan. He is the front runner of the new age teachings in the world.

The Secret Why Giving Girls Too Much Attention Never Makes Them Fall In Love

Alright, i am going to get a bit personal here.

I know; my articles are a bit controversial. I know that most things i say are not the usual conventional dating advice you hear all the time. I know that some of the things i reveal here gets a lot of people angry.

*smiles*

But the bottom line is this; they work: hundreds of guys who already use them can attest to this - Before you fight these articles, go out, practice them, then if they don't work - come back and tell me they didn't work and i will fully apologize for feeding you wrong information.

With that out of the way; lets begin.

GIVING A GIRL ATTENTION - DOES IT WORK OR NOT?

First; what do i mean by "attention" here:

here are some examples:

- Calling a girl all the time

- Paying her compliments anytime the opportunity arises

- Sending her love texts like your father owns telecom companies in six countries.

- Doing things for her and running errands for her (some guys do this, trust me)

- Buying her loads and loads of gifts (Father Christmas)

Now the thing is this; girls love all these things - as a matter of fact, when you are in a relationship all the above can spice up the relationship.

But when you are still trying to get a girl these very same things i just listed up there can backfire when you do them in a wrong way.

Stay with me; i will make this clearer. showing a girl attention is like kerosine - when you pour in a little at a time into a burning firewood - it is fine. BUT when you get a full cup of kerosine and empty it on that same firewood; you have a problem.

When you shower loads and loads of attention on a girl; it is not romantic bro - it is a sign that tells her: "babe, i am obsessed with you"

Have you ever heard a girl say: "I can't stop thinking of this guy, he calls me 20 times a day". See, there is a reason why the people you like never like you back: it is not coincidence; this is pure basic psychology 101

A GIRL CAN NEVER BE INTO A GUY THAT IS OBSESSED WITH HER and when you shower her with all those praises, calls, attention, gifts you are making her see you as a Mr. obsessed of Africa. Most girls will tell you they like it, but everybody knows that they will say they like a girl to treat them in some ways but when you treat them in that same way they say they want to be treated - they still joke with you.

Most times when a guy showers a girl with all these kind of attention what they (the guys) think is:

- She is so fine, if i don''t shower her with attention another guy will take her from me

- She likes it, i will keep showing her how crazy i am about her.

- It's by money; if i keep buying her things she will like me.

- This is how to get a girl, that is what most girls say - so let me shower her with attention

Guy, this is real life. What happens in movies rarely happen in real life, bro.

Funny thing is that while you are bombarding a girl with all these attention she is also wondering why she doesn't like you "in that way". When a girl meets a sensitive, caring, attention giving guy they think things like:

- He is such a nice, caring sweet guy - why don't i like him enough to date him.

- He is always there whenever i want him, why don't i feel like dating him.

- Let me keep him around, maybe with time i will start to like him.

- I don't want to hurt him, let me just be nice with him. But the thing is i just don't feel "it" for him.

- He is just a friend, he is nice but i can't date him - i can't bring myself to like him that way.

True enough, girls end up dating this type of guys but the fact is this; it is very RARE and most times when they do date the guy it is usually out of pity and not because they really like him as a boyfriend.

Here is psychology 101: "We don't like anything that is easy to have. When we get something we loose interest in that thing"

Showing a girl too much attention sends her the signal that "she already has you".

I know; it is not easy to hold back - the more you don't know how she feels about you, the more you chase her, the more she acts cold around - and the more you want her.

BUT HERE IS THE HARD PROVEN TRUTH: If you keep showering her with loads of attention, she will run away from you and go and find a more challenging guy. A guy who knows "whats up". A guy who is not as easy as you. A real Man who is in control.

Study all the girl you have been showering attention and chasing in the past one year: Can't you see how they keep giving you signals that they like you, that you are a sweet guy BUT they just don't feel it for you. You are a nice guy but they can't date you 9i'm sure a girl has told you this even)

Can't you see how very pretty girls keep complaining that the guys they like don't give them attention BUT you, fine boy like you, gives her the same attention she is making noise about and STILL she doesn't want you. Have you ever asked yourself Why almost EVERY girl complains that the guys they like don't give them enough attention. Have you ever wondered why they keep sticking to the guy even though he is not giving them enough attention that they want. Have you ever wondered if this is just coincidence or the way their brains are wired

Think, bro

PLAIN SIMPLE PSYCHOLOGY: human beings like what they don't have.

I know, a lot of people will come in here and say i have generalized but, the fact is this, this is simple plain proven science that i use myself to get classy pretty rich girls to take interest in me, this is the same science that over a hundred guys who read my articles use and still achieve massive success with the girls they like.

So since giving a girl too much attention doesn't work, what then works - little attention?

Nah, that too can backfire if you don't know how to trigger interest in girls. Have you wondered why players get more girls than other guys? it is because they know how to press a girls button and make her crazy for them.

In my e-book: "The Bang Rule...Ultimate Guild Of Seduction For Nigerian Guys", i went into details to explain this and the exact step by step secrets to use and get the girl you are interested in to be interested in you. In the book you will learn scientific psychology secrets you can use to turn the table around and make a girl like you for who you are and not because she likes your pocket (See my profile by clicking my name to see numbers to contact if you want to get the e-book).

What is Wrong With This Photo of Toyin Aimakhu?

The internet has been set abuzz by this photo of Toyin Aimakhu while she was hosting the GEJ Youth interactive session a few days back. Its been alleged by some people that she was kissing an Alahaji. I think the camera angle should be blamed for the speculation.

What do you see?

Nigeria Stalls Chad, Aims To Beat Boko Haram Before Election- Yahoo News

N'DJAMENA/YAOUNDE (Reuters) - When battle-hardened Chadian troops overran a Boko Haram camp in northern Nigeria last week, they wanted to press deep into territory controlled by the Islamist group but Nigeria refused to let them.

Having defeated al Qaeda in Mali two years ago, Chad's military believes it could could finish off Boko Haram alone. It has notched up victories that have pushed the Nigerian militants back from the Cameroonian border.

But with presidential elections this month, Nigeria is keen to press ahead with its own military campaign against Boko Haram, aiming to push it out of major towns before the March 28 ballot.

In a country proud to be a major African power, it would be an embarrassment to President Goodluck Jonathan as he seeks reelection for a smaller nation to tackle Nigeria's security problems, diplomats say.

In their forward base in the town of Gambaru on the Nigeria-Cameroon border, Chadian soldiers displayed dozens of guns seized from Boko Haram and a burnt-out armoured vehicle painted with black and white Arabic script.

"We turned back because Nigeria did not authorise us to go any further," army spokesman Colonel Azem Bermandoa said
.

Nigeria's spokesman for operations in the northeast, Mike Omeri, said cooperation between Chadian and Nigerian forces has brought some major military successes and any issues would be resolved via existing command structures.

But the Chadians say there have been no joint operations between the two forces. Chad's offer to join a Nigerian offensive to capture Baga, site of one of Boko Haram's worst atrocities in January, was rebuffed, Bermandoa said.

Officials from Chad, Niger and Cameroon say lack of cooperation from Nigeria has for months hampered efforts to put together a regional taskforce against Boko Haram. Chad was compelled to take unilateral action in January, under a deal that allows it to pursue terrorists into Nigeria, after Boko Haram violence started to choke off imports to its economy.

With Niger and Cameroon deploying thousands of troops on their borders, blocking escape routes for Boko Haram, the tide may be turning. In what Nigeria has branded a sign of desperation, the Islamist group has carried out wave of suicide attacks and threatened to disrupt the election.

Francois Conradie, analyst with South African-based NKC Research, said that if the current offensive can be sustained, Boko Haram could quickly be driven out of the remaining towns it holds. It would, however, remain a deadly rural guerrilla force.

OPPOSITION CRITICISES RELIANCE ON CHAD

Many in Nigeria ask why it took so long to act. Boko Haram killed thousands last year and kidnapped many more in its six-year campaign for an Islamist emirate in Africa's largest oil producer.

Niger, Cameroon and Chad say Nigeria neglected the uprising in its economically backward northeast, an opposition stronghold. Borno state is home to two percent of Nigeria's 170 million people.

But in recent months, Muhammadu Buhari, a former military ruler who is running as the presidential candidate for the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), has gained popularity with voters desperate for tough policies both on corruption and Boko Haram.

Amid pressure from the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria's electoral commission announced a six week postponement to the Feb. 14 election, to allow the army to tackle the security situation in the northeast so voting could go ahead there.

Ernst Hogendoorn, Crisis Group's Africa deputy programme director, said the government appeared to have engineered the delay in the hope the APC would slip up or the military could boost Jonathan by defeating Boko Haram.

"Boko Haram has certainly suffered a strategic setback ... Clearly this improves Goodluck Jonathan's chances somewhat," said Hogendoorn. "The question is do any of these forces have the ability to maintain this tempo, particularly the Chadians and to a lesser degree the Nigerians?"

With Chad already squeezed by a slump in the price of oil, its main export, the government says it can only sustain the offensive in Nigeria for a short time, diplomats say.

Buhari, however, has already criticised Jonathan for relying on Chad to push back Boko Haram, saying his government would tackle the problem alone. Many in the military and the government are keen to limit foreign involvement on Nigerian soil, diplomats say.

When Chadian forces last month entered the town of Dikwa, they were told to leave by Nigeria's military, which said it was planning air strikes, Bermondoa said.

After Nigeria's army retook Baga last month, Army Chief Major General Kenneth Minimah said his soldiers would recapture a handful of remaining towns before the elections, listing Dikwa as one of them. “The war is almost ended," he said.

TENSIONS HAMPER REGIONAL FORCE

Boko Haram was long regarded by neighbouring countries as an internal Nigerian problem, but attacks in Cameroon and Niger last year prompted the regional response. Niger, Nigeria, Chad, Benin and Cameroon agreed in May to join forces against the militants.

Since then, however, distrust and misunderstandings have stymied preparations for the force, due to take effect by the end of this month. Nigeria initially sent low-level representatives to planning meetings, angering its allies.

Cooperation between Cameroon and Nigeria has been dogged by long-running border tensions, while Niger accused Nigerian troops of cowardice.

"Nigeria must get involved and honour its promise of providing between 2,500 and 3,000 to the multinational force," said Cameroon's defence spokesman Colonel Didier Badjeck.

Cameroon has stepped up its activities since July, when Boko Haram attacked Kolotafa, the hometown of its deputy prime minister, killing dozens and kidnapping his wife.

The government has boosted its security forces in northern Cameroon from 700 to around 7,000.

"We have to do whatever it takes to make sure the sect does not occupy any town in Cameroon," said Colonel Joseph Nouma, in charge of Operation Alpha, the mission against Boko Haram.

However, Nouma said he has orders not to enter Nigeria, and Cameroon has denied Nigerian troops the right to pursue insurgents into Cameroon.

Along its 400 km (250 miles) border with Nigeria, Cameroon has created 14 new bases, with heavy artillery batteries. It has also deployed surveillance drones, a senior intelligence officer said.

Another senior Cameroon military figure said they were attempting to choke off Boko Haram's revenues, including the trade in fuel with Cameroon, Chad and Niger.

"All of this looks to be paying off," the officer said, with no incursions since mid-February.

40-year-old NANS President Expelled For Fraud, One Week After Endorsing GEJ

Less than a week after he endorsed GEJ, the 40-year-old NANS president is expelled for fraud

March 2, 2015

It’s not everyday you find a 40-year-old leading a union comprising of undergraduates, unless – of course – you are in Nigeria.

Just last Thursday, as president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), 40-year-old Tijani Usman, endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for reelection as president. The endorsement generated ripples across several NANS chapters across the country including in Lagos and Borno.

On Monday, Usman was shown the red card by the National Joint Campus Committee (NJCC), which is the legislative body of the union.

The NJCC led by Yakubu Abdullai, chairman, and Magnus Okosisi, secretary, said that Usman is guilty of fraud and impersonation. It urged all parastatals to disregard Shehu and his executive members.

In a statement, the NJCC said:

“NANS hereby expels Tijani Usman and his executive members, and warns them to stop parading themselves as NANS executives so as to avoid the wrath on Nigerian students whom they terribly betrayed on several occasions,” read a statement signed by Abdullai and Okosisi.

“This has become necessary in view of the pains inflicted on the union as a result of the misinformation on Asaba election and blatant disregard of the position of Nigerian students on national issues.

“NANS calls on agencies, ministries, state governments and foreign missions to stop dealing with Tijani Usman and his executives. They have been an embarrassment to NANS. “We thank Nigerians for their support and understanding on issues that concern students and we will replicate such gesture by presenting credible and acceptable leadership that will champion the overall interest of NANS.”

MTN Launches New Tariff That Allows You To Call 11 Numbers At Cheaper Price

In order to boost voice communication and allow its customers a long and uninterrupted talk time, MTN Nigeria recently re-launched the MTN TruTalk, which is a prepaid tariff plan that offers customers the opportunity to make calls at a new tariff rate of 11 kobo/sec to 11 selected numbers from any network of choice.

The new rate is equivalent to half the cost of making calls at a flat rate of 20kobo per second.

Speaking at the re-launch event in Lagos, General Manager, Corporate Affairs, MTN Nigeria, Funmi Onajide, said with the re-launch of the MTN TruTalk service, the company is striving to meet and exceed the expectations of its subscribers, with a promise to create other innovative products in the course of the year.

“For us at MTN, the launch of these extensions to the MTN TruTalk plan is an attempt to demonstrate our understanding of the desires of the vast majority of customers. This is the desire to talk and to talk cheaper. Whilst it is true that this industry is gradually moving to Telco 2.0, which is the focus on data and digital services, we also realise that there is a need to make it easier for people to talk. Although at the moment, data is the crown-prince, voice remains king,” Onajide added.

Corporate Services Executive, MTN Nigeria, Akinwale Goodluck, said: “Our pledge is to continue to enrich the customer experience by offering a robust bouquet of innovative products and services. The launch of two additional features to the well accepted TruTalk service is a testament of this pledge. We will continue to explore new, innovative initiatives to avail our customers more value for the services that we render.”

With MTN TruTalk, customers will now enjoy a much reduced tariff on calls with the opportunity to make calls at half-price to as many as 11 specific friends or family members while enjoying greater value for money on an extended amount of call time. This is coming on the heels of its recently launched Betterme offer, which also gives subscribers more benefits including access to the internet at lower rates.

The MTN TruTalk service is also an upgrade of the Family and Friends feature, which avails customers more talk time and an opportunity to make calls for half the rate. The value offerings provide a tariff as low as 11 kobo/sec to 11 registered numbers, eight on-net and three off-net numbers, for Family and Friends.

Analysing the prepaid tariff plan with the game of football, which has 11 best players in a particular team, the Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria, Bayo Adekanmbi, said halving of the tariff was to enable people get things done, while adding that Nigerians now have the liberty to pick their best eleven across all networks to add more value to their lives.

"For us, customer satisfaction is key, which is why we are offering even more value for money by upgrading the Family and Friend feature so our customers can talk endlessly with the best 11 members of their team," Adekanmbi said.

MTN TruTalk is a prepaid tariff plan that offers a flat rate of 20 kobo/sec across all networks from the first second a call is initiated. The tariff plan does not attract a daily or monthly subscription or access fee. Customers can migrate to the service by dialling *400#. Subscribers can register 11 numbers for Family and Friends, which also allows them to register three off-net numbers by simply dialling *560*1 * the number that the customer wants to register#. However, the MTN TruTalk service is currently available to only prepaid customers.
