Court Lifts Ban On Obasanjo’s Autobiography, ‘My Watch’

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, has lifted an injunction barring former President Olusegun Obasanjo from publishing his autobiography, ‘My Watch’.

Justice Valentine Ashi ordered ‎on the release of the books which had been in the custody of the Nigerian Customs Service.

The books were intercepted by the Nigerian Customs on the strength of the court injunction which was granted on December 10, 2014.

‎But Justice Valentine Ash set aside the order of injunction on Monday upon an application by Obasanjo, through his lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).

‎The court asked the customs not to collect demurrage on the books for the period they had overspent in their custody.

The court upheld Agabi’s argument that the applicant, a Peoples Democratic Party chief in Ogun State, Buruji Kashamu, who is currently pursuing a N20bn libel suit against Obasanjo in the same court, suppressed vital facts to obtain the order.

No journalist was in court when the judge lifted the injunction on Monday as the ruling was not delivered earlier on March 30, the date originally fixed for it.

New date for the ruling was said to have been later communicated to the parties.

Kashamu‎, had on December 10, 2014, obtained the injunction from the court through an ex parte application which he filed in his N20bn libel suit against Obasanjo.

Kashamu had anchored his prayer on the argument that part of the book related to the subject matter of the libel suit – a letter dated December 2, 2013 written by Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Kashamu had instituted the libel suit against Obasanjo having been dissatisfied with his being described by the former President in the letter which was widely published in the electronic and print media as a fugitive wanted for drug offences in the United States of America.

On December 8, 2014, Justice Ashi granted an ex parte application restraining Obasanjo from publishing the book pending the determination of the libel suit.

But Obasanjo went ahead to present the book to the public in Lagos, an act which the court held on December 10, 2014, as contemptuous.

Following the development the court ordered security and law enforcement agencies including ‎customs to confiscate the book anywhere it was found.

‎The judge in his ruling on Obasanjo’s application on Monday upheld Agabi’s argument that the order of injunction was wrongly made.

Agabi had maintained that the court made the order w‎ithout jurisdiction.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said, “The single ground of this application is that, in a case of libel, an interlocutory injunction does not lie to restrain publication in the face of a defendant pleading justification.

“The defendant (Obasanjo) is pleading justification. In paragraph 24 of our counter-affidavit, the defendant said his claim about the plaintiff is correct, true and justified from records available in the federal court of the United States.

He said the court had “issued without jurisdiction” adding, “The moment an interlocutory is granted, the issue is prejudiced, fair hearing is prejudiced.”

He also argued that the court could only validly bar publication in a libel suit after the case of libel was proven against the defendant.

But Kashamu’s counsel, Mr. Alex Izinyon II, urged the court to dismiss Obasanjo’s application seeking to set aside the December 10, 2014 order.

He said the order having been enforced by being served on the police, Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies, the application had lost relevance.

He told the court that Customs authority had recently requested a copy of the order when its men intercepted a container-load of the order.

The judge adjourned further proceedings in the matter till May 25.

Pres. Jonathan to hand over formally on May 28th and not May 29th

Minister of Information, Patricia Akwashiki says President Jonathan will be officially handing over to Gen Buhari on May 28th and not the accustomed May 29th date. Speaking with newsmen after the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja today April 15th, the minister said May 29th will be for the inauguration of a new government but that the formal handover will be done at a dinner for Buhari which will be hosted by President Jonathan

"By May 28, the president intends to have the formal handover done at a dinner. You know May 29 is our Democracy Day, we have activities lined up all through that week, showcasing all what we have achieved and all other things we do normally on our Democracy Day except that this year is special with the inauguration of our new president.” she said

Election riggers deserve death sentence - Prof. Tam David-West

Former Minister of Petroleum resources, Prof Tam David-West says anyone caught involving in election rigging deserves to be sentenced to death. Speaking in Port harcourt, Rivers state to Punch over the contentious Saturday governorship election in the state, David-West said election riggers are worse than armed robbers and that sentencing them to death when apprehended is the only way Nigeria can have peaceful, free and fair elections

"I have said that election riggers should get death sentence. Rigging election is worse that armed robbery. If an armed robber can be sentenced to death, election riggers must face similar punishment. That is the only way we can have peaceful, free and fair election in this country. It (election) was a sham. From all I heard, in Buguma, Asari-Toru, there was no election as a result of sporadic shooting in the area. Surprisingly, INEC released a result. It is wrong for anyone to say that the conducted election is good. Is that some people see the death as goodness? If an election is fraught with violence and other forms of malpractices, if it is not corrected, it would stain the performance of INEC.” - he said

I Didn’t Snub Custom, NSCDC Boss – Buhari

Nigeria’s President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed as fictional and uncharitable report by an online medium that had walked some government officials out of his residence in Daura, Katsina State.

A statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC presidential Campaign, Mallam Garba Shehu on Wednesday, April 15 denied any such incident took place as reported by the online newspaper.

“It was a false and an inaccurate presentation of the facts of what transpired when some government officials visited the president-elect at his Daura country home. It is totally out of General Buhari’s character to ask his visitors out.”

Shehu stated that the alleged visit by the comptroller-Generalal of the Customs, Abdullahi Inde only happened in the imagination of the said publication. “He did not come visiting at any time.”

On the other reported incident involving Dr. Ade Abolurin, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Shehu said the president-elect was already in another meeting when the Commandant-General came visiting and there was no way the president-elect could receive the new visitors. “He was merely passing through the town and thought to stop by,” according to the statement.

“As a matter of fact, words were promptly sent to the gentleman and his delegation that General Buhari was unable to meet them owing to the fact of an-going meeting that had preceded the time of their arrival.

“The president-elect welcomes positive suggestions from every Nigerian about how to bring progressive change to the country. He will not walk anyone who had come to discuss ways of developing the country. Courtesy and civility will not permit that to happen. It is equally not his character.

“It is therefore important to put the records straight that the President-elect will be a President for all Nigerians irrespective of whether anyone currently holds a public office or not.”

Can A 'Real' Born Again Girl/Prayer Warrior Be Romantic?

One can't underestimate the benefit of getting married to a born again girl. The spiritual support she'll give her husband and family is priceless, but sometimes I kinda wonder if her very spiritual side won't end up creating less affection and make the marriage less fun(romance-less) in the long run.

Which could be part of reason why guys are not very comfortable with marrying born again girls...

Your thoughts will be very much appreciated. undecided

Governor Ajimobi Vows To Deal With Senator Ladoja If He Misbehaves

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state has warned that his administration would not tolerate any form of violence from Senator Rasheed Ladoja, the Accord Party governorship candidate who lost to him in last election, stressing that, the full weight of law would be used to deal with him if he misbehaves.

Ajimobi disclosed this today in Ibadan while briefing the press on the reported plan of the erstwhile governor to instigate violence in the state.

While warning against violence, Governor Ajimobi said “surprisingly, the Accord Party has been complaining that it would go to court. No problem. If you look at the results of the election and the conduct, it was the freest and fairest election ever held. Everybody said it, all his agents signed at the polling units. It is only at the final collation centre that they did not sign. Let him go to court,” he said.

It would be recalled that at a meeting with his party members on Tuesday, Senator Rashidi Ladoja was quoted to have threatened to let his party members loose if assaulted by fellow politicians.

“We brought peace and security to Oyo state. We established that in the state and we will not fold our arms and allow any individual to destroy it. Senator Ladoja’s administration was replete with violence. Some people are sore losers, some are very sportsmanly. If he says he will resort to violence as reported, we will not tolerate it. Oyo state is a state where nobody is above the law. If he has complaints, let him go to the police to complain.

“But if he says he wants to lead some people to resort to violence in the state, we will deal with him. We don’t want violence in Oyo state again. Nobody is too big for the law in Oyo state. Anyone who is so desperate that even when defeated, he is crying about his intention to cause problems, he should follow due process and should obey the law of the land. He is not too big to obey the law. I guarantee you, should anybody lead any group to cause violence, the law will take its full weight to deal with them, I assure them,” he said.

Going into the details of the election, the governor affirmed that the APC won fair and square adding, “If you look at the results of the election, APC had 25 per cent in 29 local governments. Other parties did not meet the statutory requirement of 25 per cent. Accord Party had only 17 per cent. We won across six political zones out of seven. Accord and Labour won one each. Where is the spread of Accord Party? He did not win in Oyo, Ogbomoso, Oke Ogun I & II, and Ibadan city zones. He did not even meet the statutory requirement. Let him go to court, we are waiting,” he said.

How To Attract A Real Husband Material

Alot has been put down about the QUALITIES OF AN HUSBAND MATERIAL but nothing really has been written on how to attract such a man smiley

I've heard many girls say, "there are only very few guys who wants to settle down. They are all the same. Sleep and dump you". That's not true!

We have real guys who wants to settle down. It's just that some ladies are quite uninformed as to how to attract such guys. smiley When preparation meets opportunity, success is achieved, they say!

How Do You Attract A Marriageable Guy?

1. Quit Imitating Other Girls- Be Original

Originality is a vital trait every guy wants in his girl. No real guy wants to marry a girl who isn't comfortable with herself. She isn't okay with her looks so goes everywhere on fake " everything"! Such a girl may not find a serious guy.

2. Dressing Unclad To Impress Isn't The Best

I know it's your body and your business but I must say this: If a guy gets to like you first because you exposed your body, it will be damn hard to get him to notice how intelligent you are in other areas. That's where FIRST IMPRESSION really matters a lot. He's been starved. You fed him. He got close to you. He got tired of your food. He looks out. Your guess is as good as mine sad

3. Have A Goal In Life

There are already so many girls without goals. Don't join them. They have decided to get married to a "rich guy" as they say, and bury their career in his wallet. Girl, career ladies may have their own issues but no guy wishes to date a "broke ass" girl too, hehehehe lipsrsealed. If you are broke, enh, at least have a dream, a career... Let it drive the course of your life.

When he sees your passion for something other than money, clothes and sex, he will make a move.

4. Lend A Helping Hand Where Necessary.

Remember we are talking about how to attract the kind of guy whose love for you bypasses your "temporary looks". Having watched " Devious Maids", Season 2: One of the maids caught the fancy of a very handsome man, because of what? She was wholeheartedly helping his dad. Free yourself. Go out of your way and help someone. It's not about attracting anyone but being nice Apart from sex and other usuals, can your guy really call you a HELP? . Nothing moves a guy than a lady helping him in to do what he isn't disposed to do.

5. Be Committed To A Religion

There is something about being a "religious" person, it creates an atmosphere of good expectations. It promises him of something good, at least. Though, there are so many counterfeits here and there grin

6. Disconnect Yourself From Sugar Daddies!

Excuse me! I went to a university where having a sugar daddy was a norm. Flashy cars roll in the girls' hostels every evening. Yet, these girls are praying for a husband material! It's not fair na! Sometimes, Sometimes, the reason some ladies face prolonged single hood is this! So many poo have gone wrong. Mind you: A sugar daddy mustn't be an elderly man!

7. Spend Some Of Your Time With Married Ladies

As earlier quoted: Success is where preparation meets with opportunity. In life, you don't get what you want when you want it. You get it when you've prepared (to an extent) for it. Hanging out with those Ladies kinda build a marital disposition in you, somehow. Getting advice from romance section Ladies can only take you so far.

Hahaha...This is not a Ladies' bashing thread as it were...smiley. Just a thought lipsrsealed

Why Your Boyfriend May Not Be In A Hurry To Become Your Husband

AccelerateTV

Recently I came to the conclusion that a lot of our men are no longer eager to get married. I believe they have their reasons and like most of them say, they never have enough money for the wedding day and maybe afterwards.

That makes me realize that we may not have prepared our men enough for marriage, to help them understand what measure of blessings are poured down on the man who chooses to take the bull by the horn and trust God enough to go into this institution that has been ordained by God himself.

I am yet to see anyone who consulted God before getting married, and didn’t pull through despite all the lessons that we learn on the way which give us room to grow up.

I can understand some of the reasons why men don’t want to marry these days, but one I find strange is when I discover that some men don’t actually want to get married because they are ashamed and very uncomfortable about the size of their joystick.

One of the many texts I have been bombarded with lately says :“Dear sir, can a small joystick satisfy a woman with big buttocks? How many inches is long, and what do you consider as short. You may flash me and I will call you so you can tell me”.

I later found out he has not thought of getting married, because he thinks he will be ridiculed for the rest of his life. What do you make of that? Meanwhile I will like to take you through some of the other reasons why some men don’t get married.

1. MEN DON’T HAVE TO GET MARRIED TO HAVE SEX TODAY

A lot of men have realized that it is easier to get sex than in times past, when women insisted on getting married before sex. I am a man and I can tell you that a lot of women have lost it when it comes to keeping themselves whole.

I am not so sure who is more promiscuous these days, because it seems women offer sex like its going out of fashion these days . There are women, who are sleeping with about 4 men at the same time and would probably accommodate more if they can.

When women come to me to tell me how their husband was caught in Adultery, and seek my opinion on if they should leave him, I always reassure them that most men who commit adultery these days, don’t go out looking for these ladies, but that the ladies seem to be everywhere making themselves available and have removed the fun we men used to have chasing them.

When men realize that they can have all the sex they want without getting married, they just don’t see the point of GETTING MARRIED.

2. WOMEN ARE READY TO CO-HABIT WITH MEN THEY ARE NOT MARRIED TO

I believe it must have come to your attention now that a lot of men and women are living together now without being married to each other. It came to my attention through my counseling sessions.

By the time I ask the lady or man where the husband or wife will be right now, they go like “actually Jerome, I think there is one more thing you need to know and that is we are not legally married, but are just living together”.

Now that blows my mind, because you are not legally married, you are living together and also have a child or two, in Africa, yes in Africa!

I know some of these starts on Campus where a lot of girls are just not staying in their hostels, but have moved in with their boyfriends who probably have a room at the BQ of the lecturer’s Quarters on Campus or in their rented apartment in town, and most of their school mates consider it acceptable.

Please note that this is also happening amongst those who profess to be religious on Campus as well. So continuing in that way of life isn’t a problem later. How do you expect these men to consider getting married when they have found a short cut to it?

3. MEN BELIEVE THE POSSIBILITY OF DIVORCE IS HIGH THESE DAYS, SO WHY SPEND ON MARRIAGE, AND LATER ON DIVORCE

The rate of divorce is on the increase and it carries a lot of financial implications with it. So the guys figure out why marry if it can cost you more than having a family and catering for them at the end.

4. MOST MEN DON’T LIKE THE CHILD BEARING PART

Most men today don’t express “burning desire” for children, saying they are not ready yet. Another factor may be at play, “They know they will have to be there equally with a wife and provide hands-on child care.”

young men playing video games

5. SOME MEN DON’T LIKE THE CHANGE THAT COMES WITH MARRIAGE

Most of the time you will realize that a man just wants a wife “to look good, provide great sex, join in his recreational activities and tell him he is wonderful, while the Women’s requirements are much broader.” They want affection.

They want to feel loved. They want a great conversationalist, a man who is funny, a good father for their kids, someone who is attractive, a good sexual partner, a man who is ambitious and successful and God fearing.

And most men are simply not” all these things. For them to do this, a lot of changes may be required which some men are not just ready for.

6. SOME MEN KEEP LOOKING FOR THAT PERFECT WOMAN TO MARRY

Let me describe a SOUL MATE using what D.H. Lawrence said; “You are the Call and I am the Answer. You are the Wish, and I the Fulfillment. You are the Night, and I the Day.

What else? It is perfect enough. It is complete. You and I.” What I realize here is that you may never find a compliment until you are capable of complimenting. Most of the time, we are looking for someone who will compliment us without the intention of complimenting anyone.

I guess we may wait for a perfect soul mate forever until we change our attitude and go out to look for someone to compliment.

7. NO ONE IS REALLY PUTTING HIM UNDER PRESSURE TO MARRY

Men face little social pressure to marry, compared to what the females have to face. So at the end of the day, they don’t think it’s a big deal after all. One reason young men balk at marriage is “they don’t yet get it”, the problem is they just don’t realize what is in it for them.

We have not done a good job of selling marriage to men. They don’t know all the good things that will change in their lives. Married men are healthier than single men, wealthier, they live longer and happier lives, they have more sex, they have somebody who knows them, and tolerates them anyway.

8. MEN DON’T REALLY WANT TO BE WITH A SINGLE MOTHER IN MARRIAGE.

Most of the time single men are reluctant to marry a woman who already has children for a lot of reasons and one of them being that his family will object to it, the other reason could be that he begins to wonder how many men she has been with and abortions she has had before being forced to have the child with her now, and yet another reason can be that, he is not sure he will be comfortable with her having any form of contact with the father or fathers of the child/children when he is married to her.

Men feel this way forgetting that they can be worse when we talk in terms of morality. It’s more of the case of the pot calling the kettle black. Unfortunately they get away with it, because no one is holding them to ransom.

9. SOME MEN DON’T LIKE RESPONSIBILITIES.

So some men say, but it’s just another way to avoid becoming a responsible person. What a lot of men may not realize is that marriage is a vision that is bigger than who they are and all they have to do is give themselves to it with the Almighty God as a witness and then begin building together with their wives as they obtain favor from the Lord.

Men have to realize that when we are children age 0-11 we have privileges, then from age 12-21 we retain our privileges through responsibilities e.g. if you want to take your father’s car out, be ready to refill the tank after using up the fuel in it otherwise, don’t ask for it the next day since you are not ready to be responsible.

Then from age 21- what we have left is responsibilities, and a lot of us fear that, I mean being responsible. So you find a lot of irresponsible men out there, who can change if we start to prepare our younger generation for the real life out there.

10. SO MANY MEN DON’T WANT TO MISS OUT ON THE SINGLE LIFE, WHICH IS WHY EVEN SOME WHO ARE MARRIED, STILL LIVE LIKE THEY ARE SINGLE.

Well, some people just don’t want to grow up, do they?

Two Die As Fulani, Yoruba Clash In Kwara

No fewer than two people reportedly died while property worth millions of naira were destroyed following a clash between Fulani traders and Yoruba natives of Oro-Ago in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Our correspondent gathered on Wednesday that some irate youths allegedly razed at least five vehicles and 10 motorcycles said to be owned by some Fulani people in the ensuing pandemonium.

A source, who pleaded anonymity for fear of attack, told journalists in Ilorin that the mayhem was allegedly caused by Fulani-Bororo settlers who, allegedly flouted a rule in the area that the settlers should never bring arms, ammunition and fighting sticks from their settlements to market on Oro Ago market days.

He stated that some armed Fulani traders came to the market on Monday.

He added that the vigilance team and hunters in the area accosted them, seized the weapons from them and later kept them at a place in Oro Ago town.

The source said the leader of the Fulani people in the area, popularly called Serikin Fulani, surprisingly stormed the place where the ammunition were kept with his people, carted away the weapons seized by the vigilance team and handed them back to the Fulani traders.

The source said the hunters and vigilance team attempted to retrieve the re-captured weapons from the Fulani people.

According to him, violent clash erupted between the two camps, leading to a breakdown of laws and order as weapons were allegedly used freely by the warring parties.

Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Police Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, said it was untrue that seven people were killed during the clash.

He claimed that two people were killed.

Okesanmi added that security operatives had restored normalcy to the area as, according to him, people have resumed normal socio-economic life and are going about their normal business unmolested.

There's news that a special court martial of the Nigerian Army has discharged and acquitted 57 soldiers who were charged with losing their weapons and going on an Absence Without Official Leave, AWOL while battling insurgents last year.

In December last year, the soldiers were charged with conspiracy to commit mutiny after their revolt led to the death of some of their colleagues in a duel with insurgents. They claimed that their

weapons were inferior to the enemy’s at the time.

The court martial, which sat at the Army Headquarters Garrison in Abuja, however convicted 15 other accused soldiers sentencing them to one year prison sentences each.

A source in the office of the National Security Adviser, who spoke with Post Nigeria reportedly confirmed the report.

President Jonathan Hands Over Power On May 28

President Goodluck Jonathan will hand over the reigns of affairs of the country to the President-elect, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on May 28, about 24 hours before Buhari’s inauguration.

Minister of Information, Senator Patricia Akwashiki, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Wednesday at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Jonathan.

Akwashiki said Jonathan would hand over to Buhari at a dinner on the eve of the May 29 Democracy Day.

She said, “By May 28, the President intends to have the formal handing over done at a dinner so that we can reserve May 29 for the incoming government.

“By May 28, we are expected to have concluded our own government and we are welcoming the incoming government.

“Also you know May 29 is our Democracy Day. So, we have activities lined up all through that week, showcasing all what we have achieved and all other things we do normally on our Democracy Day except that this year is special with the inauguration of our new President that is coming up on May 29.”

She added that the President had directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to prepare their handover notes and submit same to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim, on or before April 20.

She said it was Anyim’s responsibility to compile the notes which will form Jonathan’s handover document to his successor.

She further said while the valedictory FEC meeting would hold on May 20, everything that requires the President’s approval must be presented to him latest on May 13 so that the incoming government would not accuse him of rushing projects.

The minister added that Jonathan had directed MDAs to brief him on inherited projects and the ones initiated by his administration under their jurisdiction.

She said the briefings were expected to include the status of the projects and levels of implementation.

The minister added, “The President emphasised on the need for all MDAs to submit their handing over notes to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation by 20th of this month, that is next Monday. So we are going to be very busy this weekend putting our handing over notes together.

“The President also emphasised that he would require another little briefing from all MDAs to indicate inherited projects, how far they have been executed and initiated projects by his administration and the level of completion, whether completed, ongoing or abandoned.”

She said the present administration was doing everything possible to ensure smooth transition, adding that Vice President Namadi Sambo is heading the government’s transition committee while Anyim is heading the inauguration committee.

Akwashiki however said notwithstanding the transition programme, governance had not stopped in the country.

“That is not to say that governance has stopped, of course we are in government until the day the President-elect takes his oath of office,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke; and the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, were among a few ministers who did not attend the Wednesday meeting.

The meeting was the first one held after the March 28 presidential election which Jonathan lost to Buhari.

Before the President arrived the venue, some ministers, especially the core politicians among them used the opportunity to review the polls and their performances in their various states.

They formed small groups to take stock zone-by-zone.

Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Jelili Adesiyan; Minister of State II, Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory, Olajumoke Akinjide; and the Minister of State, Works, Dayo Adeyeye, were seen engrossed in discussion on the Peoples Democratic Party’s performance in the South West while awaiting Jonathan’s arrival at the venue.

Why Is It A Challenge For Single Mums To Get Married?

No one is perfect and we all make mistakes at one time or the other. And as the adage says "To sin is human, but to forgive is divine"

But I have noticed that it is always difficult for ladies that have issues out of wedlock to get a man that will love and marry them. After all, having a child isn't a disease.

Why is this so?

Buhari’s Government Should Create Ministry Of Lagos Affairs – Legislator

A re-elected member of the Lagos State House of

Assembly, Mr Bisi Yussuf, on Wednesday urged the

in-coming administration at the federal level to

create a ministry for Lagos affairs. Addressing

scores of supporters at his constituency office in

Ipaja-Ayobo Local Council Development Area, the

legislator said that it would facilitate rapid

upgrading of infrastructural facilities in the

nation’s commercial capital.

Yussuf (Alimosho I), of the All Progressives

Congress (APC), said that Lagos should be

accorded the rightful federal revenue allocation

befitting its status as the nation’s commercial

capital.

“There is nowhere in the world that a national

commercial capital suffers the type of neglect

which Lagos has experienced in the hands of the

federal government since it moved the national

capital to Abuja in 1992,” Yusuf said.

He noted that seaport operations and massive

haulage business put a lot of pressure on Lagos

roads, and a dedicated Ministry for Lagos Affairs

would help arrest the decay of its social

infrastructure. Yusuf said such ministry would

also help Lagos to meet its rail and road network

requirements as one of the world’s most densely

populated cities.

“A city of more than 20 million people cannot be

adequately serviced by state government finance

alone,’’ he said, adding that the state’s revenue

contributions to the federal coffers needed

adequate reciprocation. The APC won the 2015

general elections at the presidential level and

also that of governorship in Lagos State, which

will see the party controlling both levels from May

29.

Yussuf commended his constituents for their

support, which he said, guaranteed his re-

election, promising to improve on his legislative

responsibilities. He said that the voting strength

of Alimosho remained the bastion of APC support

base in Lagos and stressed the need for greater

cohesion among the party members and

supporters.

The legislator also acknowledged the political

leadership of APC National Leader, Sen. Bola

Tinubu, whom he described as “a veritable study

in political strategies and national alignment”. He

assured the supporters that the state’s

governor-elect, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, would

improve on the performance of out-going Gov.

Babatunde Fashola who built on the foundation

built by Tinubu.

Yusuf, in an interview with newsmen, said that

the next Assembly would build on the

achievements of the present one to boost

development in the state. “The 8th assembly will

embark on more qualitative legislation which will

foster more development to various communities

within the state in terms of job creation and

human development,’’ he said.

Prof. Osinbajo who posted his thought on twitter avowed that, ‘’For us, Change is not just a campaign slogan; Change is possible; Change is doable; Change will work! Believe and participate,’’ he said.

While commending all supporters of the party in the just concluded election, he urged them to keep the faith even in other supplementary elections that will hold soon. He said, ‘’ Thank you to all who supported our Governorship & Legislature candidates on Saturday. For supplementary elections, keep the faith.’’

He also urged candidates who were successful in the just concluded elections to ‘’join hands with the people to build states and a nation of our dreams.’’

Northern Leaders Conspired To Sabotage Jonathan – Umeh

Chief Umeh while agreeing that there are some good Northern leaders with good intentions for Nigeria, urged President Jonathan to ignore some of the sycophants who never supported his reelection bid and are now praising him for conceding defeat to Gen. Buhari, saying, they were spoiling for war before the election and waiting for him to reject the result of the election so they can start the war they have been planning.

“For Danjuma to say that President Jonathan averted civil war by conceding and added that Ojukwu would have saved Nigeria one year of bloodshed if Ojukwu had done what Jonathan did, he revealed the war they have been planning, if not what has loosing election or not conceding defeat got to do with civil war, is the court not there to redress election fraud, have people not been loosing election?

“But thank God that President Jonathan was not desperate for power, for 48 years the Igbo have been held down, and they never bothered who rules the country, for over thirty years a section of this country was ruling and believed that power rest with them, just few years they were out of power they started complaining and some threatening war if power did not come back to them” he said.

Speaking with newsmen, Chief Umeh wondered why President Jonathan visited Gen. Danjuma whom he said did not support his reelection bid, but instead rained insult on the President by saying that he was defeated and he conceded defeat, something he said Late Ojukwu should have done to save the country of crisis.

“I am very sure that Danjuma and some of his cohorts who are now praising Jonathan did not support the President in his reelection bid, I don’t know what President Jonathan went to look for in his house, all the Northern leaders conspired to sabotage Jonathan, Danjuma inclusive, I don’t know what he went to his house to look for, he may have deceived the President to believe that he supported him, but I am telling you, all the Northern leaders ganged up against the President.

“For saying that Jonathan saved Nigeria from civil war, Danjuma made the right comment because they have perfected planned on how to fight war, if their brother did not win, that shows they were desperate to take power which they held for over thirty years without other sections of the country complaining, if Jonathan has refused to accept defeat, there would have been war like they said, the North were ready for that from the way they are behaving and what they are saying since after the election” he said.

Chief Umeh therefore, urge President Jonathan to concentrate on his job for the remaining days of his administration and ignore the pretenders who never supported him and made things very difficult for his administration in spite all the developmental projects he carried out in the North, which the sections of the country that gave him full support never benefited or enjoyed.

“Jonathan did everything to impress the North but you cannot satisfy some of them, there is nothing you can do for some of them they will regard than giving back power to them, that is the secret of their jubilation and saying all sorts things and insulting everybody including the President, they are no more spoiling for war, they have got what they want” he said.
