Obasanjo’s Tearing Of PDP Card Reminded Me Of King Saul Rejecting David in the Bible – Femi Fani-Kayode Says.

Former president of Nigeria,Olusegun Obasanjo left many in shock after his dramatic exit from PDP.

Director of Media and Publicity for the People’s Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO),Femi Fani-Kayode, is still in shock. In a statement released on the matter, he described Obasanjo’s tearing of the PDP party card as painful and tragic. He also likened the action to biblical times, whenKing Sau lrejected David.

Here is the statement, as reported by Punch:

Watching our party membership card being torn up whilst President Obasanjo was standing there and smiling was painful and tragic.

This is a party which he helped to build and on whose platform he was elected President for eight good years.

The truth is that President Obasanjo is far better and far bigger than that. Such behavior is provocative and unacceptable.

He is free to leave the party but does he have to spit in our faces by tearing up our party card in public and before the television cameras?

This knee-jerk reaction is most unlike President Obasanjo and it is very insulting. It is clear that he has burnt all the bridges and that he has left us forever.

On a personal note, I feel saddened by this but the truth is that many in our party members have heaved a huge sigh of relief. Many of us love President Obasanjo and we shall continue to do so regardless of whether he is in our party or not but tearing up that party card was too much to bear.

It spoke volumes and it was indicative of the deep hatred and contempt that he has for us and our cause.

It reminded me of the biblical passage in which King Saul rejected David and then planned to stop him from ascending to the throne by attempting to kill and destroy him.

Thankfully, the Lord was with David and not only did he deliver him from Saul, but he also crowned him King.

SHOCKING: Groom Almost Kills Bride On Wedding Night Over Inability To Undress Her.

A groom has done the unexpected to his bride on their wedding night all because he could not undo her dress.

The bride, Amy Dawson was brutally beaten by her husband, Gavin Golightly few hours after they tied the knot. Daily Mail reports that the bride was pinned to the floor by his husband just hours after a romantic wedding ceremony in County Durham in August. It was reported that the 22-year-old had asked her new husband to help her in getting out of the white dress she was wearing when he became violent .

While Miss Dawson who already has a baby for his groom was relating the attack said she thought it would kill her.

‘When he lashed out on me on my wedding night I thought I was going to die. I was terrified.

He looked like he was going to kill me. ‘Eventually, I escaped and found a hotel porter, who called the police.

‘It was such a lovely day, and I was devastated it ended the way it did. It was a huge celebration full of friends and family, and I thought it would have been the fresh start we needed.’

The new couple after getting married in St Mary’s Church in West Rainton, had their reception at nearby Beamish Hall. Shortly before 1am, the couple retired to a room in the hotel where Ms Dawson tried to get undressed. At 12.55am, the following morning, they went to their room, which she was helped towards by a night porter,’ said prosecutor Sarah Traynor.

‘The defendant then tried to undo Ms Dawson’s dress. She received a crochet (to undo the dress with), but the defendant then refused to undo his new wife’s dress.’The defendant then jumped up from his chair, approached Ms Dawson and pushed her over. ‘He then sat on top of her and started punching her with clenched fists. He then got up and left the room. It appears that the defendant then came back to the room. The defendant said he has no recollection of the event, adding that he must have had his drink spiked. He remembers waking up in a hotel room and said he does not get angry when he takes drugs. ‘Ms Dawson had a cut above her left eyebrow and some bruises to her face and chest area.’

Ms Dawson added said her husband had changed dramatically since she fell pregnant eight months after their relationship began.‘When I first met Gavin, he was lovely. I couldn’t fault him. ‘He was caring and loving, and when we found we were having a baby we were delighted. ‘I fell pregnant after eight months but almost straight away Gavin became controlling and manipilative. It was like walking on eggshells.’

Golightly who is from Sunderland, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm at a court hearing last month.

He was given a 12 month community order and a restraining order preventing him from contacting his wife.

However, Ms Dawson has said that the punishment is too lenient.

‘The community order was far too soft. The restraining order is the only thing keeping me strong. He means nothing to me now.’Ms Dawson said.

However, the Chairman of the bench Paul Elliott, told Golightly: ‘

You do know that when your custody report was asked for, custody was an option because this was a serious assault.

‘But your early guilty plea and mitigation mean that we will give you a 24-month community order with the requirement of supervision.’

He was also ordered to pay £200 in compensation to her, £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

FG Siphoned N800m For Unexecuted Project In Edo – Gov. Oshiomhole Speaks.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has accused the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government of stealing N800 million for a water project that was never executed in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking on Monday at the inauguration of the construction of 24-km Ogiriga-Afokpella-Okugbe-Imiekuri-Ohu road project with a spur to Awuyemi in Okpella, the second road project to be so flagged-off in the state within a week, Oshiomhole said records at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abuja, shows that the project has been completed, yet no single water pipe was laid in the locality.

According to Oshiomhole, “I am happy to be here to fulfill one of the promises I made to the people of this community. We have done schools, light, and water and now roads. I believe that the primary purpose of government is to bring development to the people.

“I am happy to hear from your highness that the people of the state recognize that our projects are not political projects. We don’t do projects to deceive the people and that is why whatever we choose to do is properly done”.

Oshiomhole noted “For me we have only one purpose in government to deliver the greatest good to the greatest number of people in the shortest possible time. My joy today and I encourage you to reflect, all of the things that have been listed are the things that we have accomplished in six years. But always remember that Nigerian democracy is sixteen years now.

“When I look at what we have achieved in six years I ask you always not to forget that when I came in we have had PDP for ten years. In this kingdom the PDP cannot show you one red roof in ten years.

Today your government has delivered to the Edo child not only a red roof, beautiful classrooms; we also abolished all forms of collections.

“I am happy that we are flagging off the construction of roads that would link various communities in Okpella Kingdom”, he stressed.

The Governor remarked “For us Edo state cannot return to the past. This party that specializes in stealing, they have stolen a lot.

Government may be broke, but individuals are so rich. I hear in Fugar they suddenly came out with a foundation, they are giving ten and twenty thousand naira loan to people to tie them down.

“Let me ask you: if I choose to take one billion naira out of the money for this road project, how many of you can I share it to, I will share it to so many people, but how long will it last, so I need you to choose between those who will steal the money and give you five thousand for election and those who will use the money to work”.

The governor pointed out that “the PDP has destroyed every institution of state and before they destroy us, we must remove them. Hope you are aware that PDP records in the Ministry of Water Resources in Abuja say that they have completed the Okpella water scheme with eight hundred million naira. That is the story of Nigeria everywhere”.

He said “what we are doing today is not just a road project connecting many communities; we are following our standard specifications. You have the asphalt base and on top of that we put the stone base. In many of the areas we would ensure that there is drainage, because if there is no drainage the road will not last”.

In his remarks, the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella, HRH Alhaji A.Y.E Dirisu, said the history for the request for the construction of this road dates back to 2011 when he led a delegation of some members of the community on a courtesy to the Governor.

“We are delighted to report that even when some of our people were beginning to assume the status of doubting Thomases, you remained consistent in assuring all and sundry of avowed commitment to execute the project in conformity with has come to been known as the high Oshiomhole standards”.

In a welcome remark, the State Commissioner for Works, Hon Osarodion Ogie, described the road project as a continuation of Mr. Oshiomohle’s commitment to taking development to the people and opening up every part of the state.

Customs Denies Withdrawing Personnel From Sokoto, Kebbi Border Posts.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it has not ordered the withdrawal of its personnel from the border stations in Sokoto and Kebbi states.

This is contained in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Wale Adeniyi, and made available to journalists in Sokoto on Monday.

“The directive withdrawing the officers was said to have been given verbally by an un-named official of the Federal Government, raising fears about security of our borders.

“In view of the security implication of this development and its sensitivity, it becomes necessary for the Service to clarify the situation as follows:

“There was no directive whatsoever, verbal or written to officers of Nigeria Customs Service posted to Kebbi/Sokoto and Kaduna/Katsina commands to withdraw from the borders or their patrol bases”, the statement said.

It further stated that there was no directive withdrawing Customs Operatives from duty posts in other border stations across the country.

“In view of the security situation in the country, the Comptroller-General only last week directed a reinforcement of patrol teams across the country.

“The Sokoto/Kebbi axis was beefed up with the deployment of a Special Squad in view of a reported incident between Customs and smugglers.

“The Service is in consultation with Nigeria Immigration Service and other sister government agencies on this issue”, it explained.

It further said that the Service was in consultation with the state governments in the North West axis to reassure them that “our officers are at alert on their duty posts.

“They should regard the withdrawal allegation as baseless and mere speculation”.(NAN)

Man With Tumour Twice The Size Of His Head Has It Removed After Walking 3 Days To Get Help (SEE PHOTOS)

A desperate grandfather has had a tumour that weighed a stone and grew to twice the size of his head removed after he walked for three days to seek help.

Sambany revealed that he took on the extraordinary mission after hearing about a brilliant charity that performs medical treatments in some of the poorest nations on earth.

Mercy Ships runs out of an ocean liner that docks in various ports and then opens its doors to offer free, state-of-the-art health care to those in need.

Although the team is chocked full of hugely experienced doctors, surgeons and other medical professionals, few had worked on a tumour the size of Sambany’s. The Madagascan, who walked for 72 hours to reach the port of Toamasina and is in his 60s, first noticed something was wrong while he was in his 20s.

He first developed a swelling in his left cheek that began to grown – eventually becoming almost twice the size of his head.

After arriving at the Mercy Ship, doctors agreed to perform surgery on him and during an incredible 12-hour operation they removed a growth weighing a staggering 16.5lbs.

Speaking to the Mail Online just before his surgery, Sambany told how he needed the procedure to

He said: “My heart is very, very happy.

“I’m just happy.

“I know without surgery I will die.

“I know I might die in surgery, but I already feel dead inside from the way I’m treated.

“I choose to have surgery.”

“I’m very happy.

Happy: Sambany was delighted after seeing himself in a mirror

Following a successful operation, Sambany was handed a mirror to see himself without the tumour for the first time in four decades.

The delighted grandfather told doctors he was very happy, before he was told he must now remain on the boat and recover for a couple of months.

He told how he heard about Mercy Ships through a pal, and between them the two men travelled for three days to seek help.

Judy Polkinhorn, Executive Director of Mercy Ships UK, said: “Thanks to the expert skill of our amazing volunteers, Mercy Ships are able to carry out such incredible, life-changing surgeries.

“I am so touched to hear about Sambany’s story – he really epitomises what the charity is all about.”

New York Times Calls Pres. Jonathan Lousy Incumbent, Says He’s Trying To Frustrate Buhari

In an article titled ‘Nigeria’s Miserable Choices’ Published on New York Times yesterday Monday February 16th, and written by the editorial board of the US newspaper, they described Nigerian president as a ‘lousy incumbent’ & described Buhari as a ‘former autocratic leader’.

See article below

The Nigerian government was supposed to hold presidential elections this past weekend, which presented voters with the dispiriting choice of keeping a lousy incumbent or returning to power a former autocratic leader. Now they will have to wait at least six weeks to cast votes.

The Nigerian election commission said earlier this month that it had pushed back the vote until at least March 28, after the country’s security chiefs warned that they could not guarantee the safety of voters in northeastern areas of the country where Boko Haram, the extremist militant group, captured international attention last spring when it abducted hundreds of schoolgirls. On Friday, Boko Haram fighters attacked a village in neighboring Chad for the first time, an alarming sign of the group’s expanding strength in a region that also includes areas of Cameroon and Niger.

Any argument to delay the vote might be more credible if President Goodluck Jonathan’s government had not spent much of the past year playing down the threat posed by the militants and if there were a reasonable expectation that the country’s weak military has the ability to improve security in a matter of weeks.

It appears more likely Mr. Jonathan grew alarmed by the surging appeal of Muhammadu Buhari, a former military ruler who has vowed to crack down on Boko Haram. By dragging out the race, Mr. Jonathan stands to deplete his rival’s campaign coffers, while he continues to use state funds and institutions to bankroll his own.

That Mr. Buhari, who helped launch a coup against a democratically elected government in 1983 and ruled until late 1985, has emerged as potential winner is more of an indictment of Mr. Jonathan’s dismal rule than a recognition of the former military chief’s appeal.

Nigerian voters have grown increasingly worried about the stunning rise of Boko Haram, which has committed terrorist atrocities including bombings.

The abductions and attacks by the group have exposed the weaknesses of Nigeria’s armed forces and the dysfunction of the government.

Although Mr. Jonathan’s government has in the past been less than enthusiastic, and at times obstructive, in response to offers of American and European aid, he appears to be growing increasingly worried. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal last week, he said he would welcome American troops to fight the insurgency.

Beyond security matters, entrenched corruption and the government’s inability to diversify its economy as the price of oil, the country’s financial bedrock, has fallen have also caused Nigerians to look for new leadership.

Nigeria, the most populous nation in Africa, and a relatively young democracy, cannot afford an electoral crisis. That would only set back the faltering effort to reassert government control in districts where Boko Haram is sowing terror. The security forces may not be able to safeguard many districts on Election Day. But postponement is very likely to make the security threat worse.

Anti-Election Leaflets: PDP Wants APC Investigated

Press statement from the PDP...

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as revealing, the attempt by the All Progressives Congress to politicize the circulation of anti-election leaflets in Gombe state

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Tuesday alerted that the rush with which the APC started raining accusations was “suspect and betrays a subterfuge; a spirited attempt to cover-up, divert attention and distract the security forces from getting to those behind the threats.”

“Ordinarily, many Nigerians saw the statement by the APC as merely political, but looking beyond the veneer of politics undoubtedly is a bigger picture of an opposition party deeply involved but craftily deploying a smokescreen to divert attention through a hurried attempt to politicize a very serious security issue.

“Whereas it is incontrovertible that Gombe remains a stronghold of the PDP with the soaring popularity of President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, we urge Nigerians to make their deduction as to which party stands to gain from any anti-election threat in the state. Is it the PDP for whom Gombe is a stronghold or the APC, which has been seeking to turn the state into a theater of violence owing to its dwindling popularity?

“Furthermore, the manner with which the APC in its statement described the convoy of the insurgents and their said movements from Maiduguri to Gombe raises an issue. Is it that the APC has their members among the insurgents or is it part of its fabrication and lies to score cheap political point?

“Nigerians are aware of series of attempts by the APC to cause mayhem in Gombe as a means to dislodge the PDP in the state. The December 18th 2014 ambush and attack on the convoy of Governor Dankwambo by APC thugs is still fresh in the mind.

“We therefore demand a thorough investigation into the matter as it might assist in unraveling other knotty issues regarding the security challenges in the country.

“This is especially as the APC has shown the capacity to find a voice and thrive whenever Nigerians come under attack or threat, as well as the proclivity for actions and utterances that tend to cause confusion, distract security agencies and embolden insurgents and their supporters”, the PDP said.

The party therefore urged Nigerians to be wary of the APC, stating that its fabrications may not only be for propaganda but also for more sinister agenda.

Noting that it will not be distracted but continue to focus on its campaign, the PDP restated its readiness for the March 28 and April 11, 2015 general elections adding that with its record of performance and support of Nigerians across board, it will receive a sweeping victory not only in Gombe but also in all the states of the federation.

Signed:
