Why I Dropped Out Of School - 2Face Finally Reveals

Popular Nigerian musician 2face Idibia has recounted the early days in his career, when he had nothing and had to hustle for a living.

Speaking in an interview with Views Channel, 2face talks about the devastating incident, that led to his dropping out of school.

According to him, he was robbed of all his audio cassettes that he recorded and he was so devastated and later dropped out of school to face music.

He also recounts how he used to claim ‘staff’ when he boarded public buses in Lagos because he had no money to pay for his bus fare.

Staff is a popular word in Nigeria used by public servants like policemen or members of the armed forces whenever they enter public transport so they would not pay their bus fare.

He said: “I got robbed sometime in school. All my audio cassettes that I recorded they took them. I was sad for like a year plus. I dropped out and I am like look I am not continuing this thing I am going to follow music.

“I actually confessed to my parents. I told them the truth that I am not going back to school. I am going to Lagos, Festac town. All this waka wey I dey talk so, na molue… staff, sometimes na fight we go fight. Them go pursue us from bus.”

Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as 2face is a proud father of seven children from three different women. He is happily married to Annie Idibia and they have two daughters together.

INEC to Hold Run Off Election in Taraba on April 25

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed April 25 for the run off of the Taraba governorship elections.

INEC Head of Public Affairs, Mr Fabian Yame, made this known to newsmen in Jalingo on Tuesday

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that contest is between Mrs Aisha Alhassan of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Mr Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP.

You recall that the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Mohammed Kyari, had on Monday declared the

governorship election inconclusive. Mohammad said the number of cancelled votes totalling 127,125 were more than the 54,812 margin between the PDP candidate who polled 317,198 and the APC candidate with 262,386 votes.

He said the constitution and the Electoral Act states that if the difference between the cancelled votes was higher than the margin between the first and the second person, elections should be declared inclusive and a run off held.

The run off election will be held in the whole of Donga Local Government and some polling units in Bali, Karim Lamido, Takum, Ussa, Wukari, Yorro and Zing.

Chibok Girls: NSA, Dasuki Assures Sambisa Forest Will Be Liberated By May 29

Colonel Sambo Dasuki, (retd), Nigeria National Security Adviser (NSA) has given an assurance that the Federal Government was making every effort to ensure that the girls along with every other Nigerian abducted by terrorists are rescued.

The NSA who spoke to PRNigeria, a media agency that distributes press releases on behalf of security agencies, also promised that Sambisa Forest, the fortress of Boko Haram terrorists and one of their last remaining camps will be stormed and liberated before the May 29, 2015 presidential hand-over date.

Dasuki spoke on the occasion of one year anniversary of the kidnap of the over 200 girls from Chibok, Borno State by Boko Haram militants.

Kashim Shettima, the Governor of Borno State recently told journalists that the missing Chibok girls were being held in the dreaded forest. “Right now, all Boko Haram camps, except Sambisa Forest have been destroyed,” the NSA said.

According to him, the forest would have since been liberated but for the unfavourable weather condition prevailing in the area as all needed reconnaissance activity and necessary deployment of troops have been made for the operation.

“Every movement of the terrorists is being monitored and every necessary detail is being taken care of to rid the country of the last bastion of terrorists infestation,” Dasuki disclosed.

He insisted that government is concerned about the welfare of every single Nigerian including the girls adding “aside the Chibok girls, other Nigerian girls, boys, men and women were abducted by the terrorists and all efforts are being made to rescue them all.”

While appealing for a little more time to complete the routing of terrorists, Dasuki recalled that before elections were postponed in February, over 20 local governments were occupied by Boko Haram and that most Nigerians were pleasantly surprised that so much was achieved against insurgency within six weeks.

While commending President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on the successful conduct of the 2015 round of elections, the security adviser however, noted that nobody pressured the President into conceding defeat in the presidential election.

“President Jonathan had already given his words to all the security and service chiefs before the election that he would abide by the decision of Nigerians. At the meeting, he also told them to perform their duties professionally during the polls.

“While we anticipated that he would congratulate his opponent if the result is announced in favour of opposition candidate, he gratuitously without prompting of anyone conceded defeat to the surprise of all,” the NSA said.

“By that singular gesture he had saved the security agencies and the nation of unnecessary tension and stress in maintaining law and order and curtailing excesses of likely protesters.”

While commending the fairness of media in the coverage of elections, he nevertheless urged them to be conscious of malicious reports being sponsored by vested interest. He denied a report that he was at any polling units during the last governorship election and was never involved in any meeting with judicial officers to truncate any democratic process.

Immediately after the postponement of elections in February this year, Sambo Dasuki had assured Nigerians and international community that all known terrorists’ camps would be destroyed while most of the occupied communities under Boko Haram in three states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe would be liberated to allow for peaceful conduct of elections and collection of more voters cards by the electorates.

“All known Boko Haram camps will be taken out. They won’t be there. They will be dismantled. In addition to the acquisition of more sophisticated armaments and training of our troops in guerrilla warfare the new military co-operation agreed to between Nigeria and its neighbours will prove decisive against Boko Haram.”

6 Countries Turn Down Alison-Madueke’s Asylum Request - Sahara Reporters

No fewer than six countries have already refused to grant an asylum request by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, the Business Council for Africa (BCA) said in its just-released monthly report, noting that about US$ 1 trillion is the latest estimated figure of the looting of the Nigerian treasury between 1960 and 2005 alone.

The report, dated March 2015, focused extensively on Nigeria’s general elections. It said the notorious Minister, whose impunity is known to have been closely-protected by President Goodluck Jonathan, will be coming under the microscope for the first time in her Ministerial career.

“Given her reputation, it comes as no surprise to learn that 6 countries have already refused to grant her asylum to live in their countries as she now wishes to leave Nigeria at the earliest possible opportunity,” it said.

BCA recalled President-elect Muhammadu Buhari lamenting that the rest of the world looks at Nigeria as the home of corruption, one where stealing is not corruption but a way of life, and that his administration will pursue all public offices and individuals who are believed to be guilty of corruption.

It observed that despite an earlier promise, it is now understood that Buhari’s anti-corruption fishing net will include Ministers currently serving under President Goodluck Jonathan. Alison-Madueke’s departure from Nigeria is likely to be followed by several other PDP elders, party members and supporters as well as some former Government officials, as Buhari's anti-corruption drive will be far-reaching.

“It will be very interesting to learn in the coming months exactly how far back in Nigeria's history his administration will go in the pursuance of those who have robbed Nigeria of US$ 1 trillion, which is the latest estimated figure of theft from the Nigerian treasury between the period 1960-2005. Given that President Jonathan's administration is considered the most corrupt of any of its predecessors, that figure is going to be considerably magnified, but whether the new President will wish to pursue former Heads of State is a matter of interest and considerable debate to Nigerian observers. It is this subject that is primarily responsible for Buhari's success in winning the election as well as his campaign promises to eradicate Boko Haram, revive the economy and rebuild Nigeria to make its position as the number one country in Africa.

While BCA agreed that the March/April 2015 were “the most credible elections in Nigeria's history”, it said they could not be called the most incorruptible.

On the contrary, it referred to them as the worst because of the amount of money that the PDP so freely and openly spent on trying to secure the re-election of Mr. Jonathan.

“The stories and reports from throughout the 36 States of the amount of money distributed by the PDP to elders, rulers, church leaders, unions and youth leaders amongst others in an endeavour to favour the voters towards the PDP has backfired badly,” the report said.

BCA said that if the 2011 elections were considered bad, the 2015 elections will undoubtedly go down as the most corrupt in Nigeria's history, certainly since 1999, as the amount of money being distributed as bribes primarily by the PDP so very openly would readily confirm.

It reported that since November when campaigning began, President Jonathan and General Buhari during their travels made no fewer than 109 promises of what they intend to achieve if given the mandate in the presidential election.

“President Jonathan's campaign continued to hinge on his party's Transformation Agenda and the achievements of his Government in the last 4 years, particularly in the agricultural sector, job creation and the empowerment of women,” the report said. In that regard, it credited Jonathan as having achieved a great deal during his tenure.

It said it was however Jonathan’s failures - rampant corruption, insecurity, inability to eliminate the Boko Haram insurgency, failure in such sectors as the economy, and power in particular, and the overall feeling that he was ruled rather than led - that have cost him his re-election bid.

The report also stated that in the 2015 elections, up to 250 Nigerians lost their lives, describing that deplorable record as speaking volumes for the control achieved by the Police at the campaign rallies by the two main candidates.

It described the cost of the campaigns of the two main parties as “simply staggering”, noting that by the first week of March, Buhari had spent some N332.58 billion as compared to the expenditure of President Jonathan which amounted to N1.05 trillion.

“This is without taking into account the cost of other expenses for such items as campaign rallies, where the PDP has spent N1.06 billion against Muhammadu Buhari's APC's N595.08 million, and clearly demonstrates the desperate lengths that the PDP have gone to in order to try and secure the re-election of President Jonathan.”

There And Back On Time-by Zuby77

CHAPTER 1 WHO IS ZUBBY?

I have been to many countries of the World.

I believe it would be beneficial to some people who would want to visit the countries where i have lived, worked or studied.

Here comes the diary of my movements from the very first moment i left Nigerian Borders to the very last Country i visited.

Journeys that took me from the lowly southern part of Enugu state to the Northernmost, the Easternmost and to the Westernmost part of world.

Fasten your seat belt as i drive you through west African coasts up to Continental Europe and Asia while MIXING TRAVELS, BUSINESS AND PLEASURE.

(WHO SAID YOU CANT MIX BUSINESS WITH PLEASURE)

**************

Some people will be bored after chapter 1.

Some will probably stop reading after chapter 2.

But if you survive chapter 3 and go beyond that,

you will send me a gift to say 'thanks'

************

I will be writing on the go, that means using mobile phones.

There are bound to be errors in typing etc.. But dont worry, the messages will be clear.

I am not a writer, so instead of blaming me, correct me.

************

My name is Azubuike.

I was born in 1980 in the Eastern state of Enugu to a Christian Parents and Teachers.

We lived in the rural area of the state and despite Enugu metropolis being 5 minutes away from my town, it took 12 years of my life to visit the Metro for the first time. That marked my first traveling without a guardian.

My mother sent me to buy her some thick-cover exercise books.

I marveled at the level of life people lived in the metro areas. That was the first time i noticed that Water was for sale.

My whole life, we had fetched water from the local stream.

That was also the first time i saw electricity without generator.

That was back in 1992. I was in JS 2.

After that wonderful visit to Enugu, i realised that the world was such a big place.

I remember looking at the Nigerian map as soon as i returned from Enugu, other states like Lagos, Sokoto and Kano began to make more sense to me. I also had a look at the world map and discovered that the world must be a vast place.

There and then, i decided that traveling would be my hobby.

From then, i started fantasizing what it would be like to visit Lagos, Kano and other states i had seen and heard of.

What about Going to Germany, France, England etc.

That would be heavenly i concluded.

I took my WAEC and JAMB in 1996. The last waec paper was on June 18 1996. I zoomed of to Onitsha that same day.

My Elder brother Albert was a peugeot spare parts dealer at the old spare parts market Obosi/Onitsha.

When the Jamb result came out, it was time to go to the University but i turned it down. My childish reasons then was to join my brother and make money. With money, my dream of globe trotting would be realised faster.

I started trading and making small money. My biggest problem was saving money.

By the year 1999, i met Sunday, a friend of my brother who traveled to Ibadan to buy tokunbo spare parts, then sell them at Onitsha. I asked him how much it would take me to join him and he said that i could start with N100,000. I sold up all my goods in the store and came up with N220, 000. The following week, i followed Sunday to Ibadan. That marked my first real travel outside the Igbo Domain. cool

APC Expels Three Chieftains For Diverting Campaign Funds

As part of efforts to show to Nigerians how transparent the All Progressive Congress (APC) administration is going to be, the leadership of the party on Tuesday sacked three of its chieftains for diverting campaign funds

PMNEWS reports that the Delta State chapter of the party expelled three of its chieftains for allegedly embezzling campaign funds as well as indulging in anti-party activities.

It was gathered that the expulsion took place at a meeting held on Monday at the party’s secretariat in Asaba, the state capital as leaders were reviewing the performance of the party in the just concluded general elections.

The notice of expulsion was published in a national daily by the party on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

The party listed the affected members as Hon. Temi Harriman, who was expelled because she allegedly diverted the presidential election support funds remitted to the state.

In a statement jointly signed by Prophet Jones Ode Erue, the state party chairman, and Comrade Chris Onodjacha, state Assistant Secretary, Harriman’s“expulsion is as a result of seizure and diversion of Presidential election support funds remitted to the state which she then misapplied through persons unknown to the party, thereby undermining the party’s ability to win votes in the Delta South Senatorial District during the Presidential election.”

The party, however, declined to disclose the amount Harriman allegedly diverted.

The party in the statement also alleged that Dr. Alex Ideh and Mr. A.S. Mene were expelled“as a result of evident anti-party activities committed during the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on the 28th of March, 2015 and repeated in the just concluded Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections held on 11th day of April, 2015, during which they actively worked for candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.”

According to the leaders, the actions of the expelled chieftains were said to have caused gross embarrassment, ridicule and contempt to the party and are in violation of the party’s constitution.

Meanwhile, the state chapter of the APC performed below expectation in the just concluded general elections as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reportedly won most of the elections with a wide margin.

Photos: Fuji Star Adewale Ayuba Honours Igbo Wife, Says His Marriage Is Peaceful

Fuji star Adewale Ayuba granted an interview to GoldmyneTV on his 50th birthday.

The happily married father of three narrated how he met his Onitsha-born wife, Azukaego Kwentoh and why he will spend the rest of his life with her.

See interview excerpts below:

What’s the secret of your youthful look at 50?

After my God, it’s my wife. People keep asking but I don’t do anything extraordinary. Why I said my wife is because she gives me peace at home. When I think of my home, I am always happy.

You have being married for 26 years, can you tell us what attracted you to an Igbo woman many years ago?

Well, we got married in 1989. My wife is 100 percent Igbo. I never knew she was Nigerian let alone being Igbo. I was at the cafeteria after my registration in New York, chatting with some of my friends, then I sighted a lady coming and I tapped my friends that I just found a wife. My friends started laughing at me. For no reason, she came to where I was, to talk to some of my friends. She said they were forming an association of Nigerian students in diaspora in your school and she wanted to know if we were Nigerians.

What was the attraction?

I can’t even say I knew it. It was a mere statement as at that time which later came to pass. I just knew I saw her and something struck a chord in me.

Did she know you were a musician as at that time?

No, she didn’t. My wife had never been to Nigerian before. She stayed all her live abroad until later that she had to obtain her visa here.

Why will you never marry two wives?

If you cannot allow your wife to have two husbands, why do you have to marry two wives? It was not even stipulated that a man must marry two wives in the holy Quran because it has a condition statement ‘’if’’.

Many Fuji artiste marry more than one wife, why are you so different?

I don’t now, but I think when God gives you your own bone, why marry a second wife? Blessings follow marriage. It is not about music but about the person.

A Thread For The Unemployed

Research has shown, although I don't have the figures with me, that that majority of Nigerians are not fully unemployed. Most are underemployed, seeking change of career path or better jobs, as regards remuneration or general condition of service.

So this thread is for those who don't have anything at all doing that generates income, those who stay at home or roam the streets when others are at work. And its for HND and Bsc graduates.

Just state your course of study, grade, skills and location. If you are employed before, state your experience. I bet you someone will/may pick you.

I may pick someone, pending when a project I'm supervising is completed. I'm underemployed and seeking a better job too.

We can help ourselves... Thanks

People were beginning to think he'd killed her...:-). Well, he killed his uncle and girlfriend, so don't blame anyone for thinking he may have done same to his wife. North Korea's First Lady, Ri Sol-j, has been spotted out in public for the first time in 2015. The last time she was seen in public was in December 2014 at a ceremony commemorating the death of her husband's father, Kim Jong-il.

Ri Sol-J joined her husband, Kim Jong-un and other senior officials at a football game celebrating Kim's grandfather's birthday recently. North Korea's official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, carried a picture of the smiling couple on its front page, so everyone knows she's alive and well.. :-)

Photos: Checkout The Phones That Were In Use 10 Years Ago

Ask teens these days what phones people used just 10 years ago, and you might find the answers are far from reality. Indeed, there’s been a profound change in technology, a gigantic leap forward that has completely overhauled the mobile phone landscapes.

In this article, we go back 10 years in time to 2005, the dark ages of phones. No, not even smartphones: there were none of those (by today's definition with a fully developed app store and an ecosystem), instead people talked about PDAs and communicators. Hilarious from the point of view of today, isn't it?

Clamshell phones? You rarely see them today, but they were all the rage back in 2005. Push-to-talk? Revolutionary 10 years ago. 4G LTE? Forget about it, people were happy if they had connectivity to the Internet at all, and have EDGE was considered great (3G was a luxury).

So what were the hot phones in 2005? Let’s waste no time and go back in history.

Motorola Moto RAZR V3 (Matte Black)

The Moto Razr took the phone world by surprise in 2004 when the V3 version was selling like hotcakes, and in 2005, Motorola followed up on the success with a matte black edition of the likable thin clamshell phone. Tiny screen, all buttons, no real smarts, but sleek and good looking.

Sony Ericsson K750

The Sony Ericsson K750 was a little wonder in 2005 that hinted for a great future for camera phones. What was the excitement all about? A 2-megapixel camera! Don’t laugh, it was all the rage, spurring a bunch of camera comparisons, tests, and thoughts whether the days of point-and-shoots are numbered. We all know how that turned out, don’t we?

Nokia N70

Call it a communicator, call it a PDA, the Nokia N70 was the great-great-great grandfather of the modern smartphone. Boy did it have a huge (2.1 inches!) display, running the super advanced Series 60 UI on a whopping 220MHz TI OMAP 1710 system chip. Don’t ask how many cores were in it.

BlackBerry 7100

2005 was right in the midst of the golden age for BlackBerry. Everyone was on the Crackberry, and despite this little 7100 series wonder having merely 65K colors (less than the 256K others flagship of the time sported), its advanced BlackBerry OS with support for email was the real hit.

Nokia 8800

A stainless steel piece of beauty that draws inspiration from the very successful slide-phones of days past 2005, the Nokia 8800 features a 1.7” display and an SVGA camera. Its color display also sports 256K colors, plenty for the time, but a far cry from today’s 16 million standard on phones.

Motorola Q8

Motorola was also playing in the game of communicators/PDAs, and the Q8 was its most advanced model for the time with a 5-way navigation button and a full physical QWERTY keyboard that business users could not live without. The star of the show, however, was the advanced Windows Mobile version 6.0.

Nokia 1100

Finally, the Nokia 1100 might not have been among the most advanced phones of the time, but when people were conisdered priviliged to even have a cell phone, the 1100 was a blessing. As such, it was the best selling phone of the year with sales of 150 million units, far above all other technological wonders of 2005.
