Checkout Sure-P's Boss "Change" Speech At OBJ's Birthday That Allegedly Got Him Fired

Martin Luther Agwai, a retired general and former chief of defence staff, lost his job as the chairman of the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (SURE-P) for talking about “change” at the 78th birthday of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, TheCable has learnt.

His removal was announced Tuesday afternoon by Reuben Abati, presidential spokesman, who did not offer any official reason.

However, a source in the know of the development has told TheCable that Agwai lost his job the day he appeared at Obasanjo’s birthday party in Abeokuta.

“General knew his job was over the moment he started getting calls from senior government officials querying his use of the word ‘change’ in his lecture at the birthday. They also questioned his fraternisation with Obasanjo,” the source said.

Agwai, 66, was appointed chief of army staff by Obasanjo in 2003, and was elevated to the rank of full-star general and chief of defence staff by him in 2006. He retired in 2009.

Not only is “change” the slogan of the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Agwai also committed the “fatal” mistake of being seen in the company with Obasanjo, who has been openly critical of President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2015 elections.

Agwai, TheCable understands, is currently out of the country but he is said be “unruffled” by the decision to sack him one year and one month after he was appointed chairman of the intervention agency following the resignation of Chris Kolade, the former chairman who quit suddenly.

The former chief of army staff was the deputy chairman until February 2014 when he was elevated to replace Kolade.

“He had been expecting the sack since last week because of the way he was antagonised over his speech. Unfortunately, change and transformation (the president’s slogan) mean essentially the same thing,” the source said.

A Kaduna politician sympathetic to Jonathan told TheCable: “The president has just worsened his case for re-election among the southern Kaduna people. You cannot treat a distinguished retired general like that. This has hurt a lot of people.”

Although his replacement, Ishaya Dare Akau, is also from southern Kaduna, “the damage has already been done”, the politician said, referring to a series of pronouncements by the president’s supporters that offended the retired military fraternity in recent times.

Agwai was deputy force commander of the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone and force commander of the African Union-United Nations hybrid operation in Darfur.

He has a post graduate diploma in public administration with distinction from the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) and a master’s degree in national resource strategy from the National Defence University (NDU), Washington DC, USA.

At NDU, Agwai won the ambassador’s award for excellence in research and writing — the first foreigner to be so honoured.

WHAT HE SAID AT OBASANJO’S BIRTHDAY ON ‘CHANGE’

Leadership remains one of the most relevant aspects of an organizational context, more so, that we are in a world where the security and business climate are increasingly competitive and volatile. It is probably correct to say that leadership has been a feature of all cultures throughout history. It is difficult to imagine any country where effective leadership is more important than our country, where drum of insecurity and songs of ethnic solidarity and national disintegration are going on daily, and every day can present life and death challenges. As John Maxwell stated, “everything rises and fall on leadership” . More than anything else, leadership will determine our success or failure, and history has continued to show us frequently the impact of leadership. It is absolutely necessary that our leaders at every level should be visionary and strategic.

The world has changed and continues to do so in a very profound and disturbing way. The future is already here in the present, and for most leaders, and nations it may have come as a surprise or shock. In this new reality of chaos, uncertainty, interdependency, and opportunities, the challenges for leaders are greater and the need for a new type of skillful and competent leadership becomes more urgent. The challenges being presented to the leaders of the present and the future are greater and can be divided into 3 components -changing challenges to leadership, changing social structure and changing economic dynamics. The only constant factor in all the 3 components is ‘Change’ and that is part of what (informed me to introduce the Change Management in the Nigerian Army in 2004.) is to be addressed by the leaders of today and tomorrow.

The transformation in our national affairs should concern with creating a culture that brings out the best intelligence, patriotism and creativity in our citizen through agreed and acceptable core values. Making national learning, innovation, adapting to future challenges, tapping into its collective wisdom to solve its adaptive challenges. The Nigerian should have the global awareness and understanding of forces shaping the world and concerned with creating a sustainable global civilisation. These dimensions when added to the agreed core values will equip our citizens in future to tide over the changing scenario effectively and establish a solid change by doing things according to laid down rules and procedures for the greater benefit of all.

Citizens today do understand the implications of the changes taking place at all the strata of the society and the way the change touches them governs their behaviour. For a leader, the essence is to be alive to the governing factors of the behaviour of the people. The challenge to a political leader is how to channel this behaviour in the ever changing scenario. However, it is not that leadership has changed, but our perception of leadership. The world is now a ‘global village’ with occasions of conflict in one country having far reaching consequences beyond its borders. This transformation in world affairs has necessitated that nations take a probing look at the past in order to prepare their selves for the future. Moving into the future requires a change from the old to the new.

According to Concise Oxford dictionary, transformation is ‘a marked change in nature, form or appearance’. For a nation to have stability and development it must transform and reduce the threats to its national security by concentrating its efforts on increasing human security which encompasses human right, good governance, access to education, good healthcare and ensuring that each individual has opportunities and choices to fulfill his or her own potential; rather than just physical security, which is an anachronistic perception of what constitutes stability. There can be real security when nations concentrate on finding solutions to acute food shortages, population explosions, and low levels of productivity and per capital income, low technological development, inadequate and inefficient public utilities; and chronic unemployment as stated by McNamara. All these call for nations to have strategic and contingency plans with long-term perspectives, continuity, consistency and commitment.

To enable us have effective, competent, courageous and visionary leaders, means an early identification, grooming and mentoring of such future strategic leaders to enable them see beyond the curves. This will build knowledge and self-confidence and courage to handle difficult and challenging assignments. Such leaders will quickly identify and nip in the bud dangerous and disconcerting trend, like what is taking root in the country where the prominence of heavily armed gangs taking control of some parts of our cities and country, operating with flagrant impunity. Although ostensibly criminal in nature, the gangs are said to be an inherently political phenomenon. Powerful elites from across the political spectrum exploit the gangs as instruments of political warfare, providing them with arms, funding, and protection from arrest. Thus, they threatened not merely the inhabitants, but the national security.

Health Tips: 7 Amazing Ways To Get Rid Of That Embarrassing Mouth Odour.

What could be more humiliating and embarrassing than mouth odour? No one likes to hear it, but it’s worse not to know you have mouth odour.

Is anything worse than seeing people turn their faces away from you when you are talking to them?

Bad breath or mouth odour (also known as halitosis or malodor) can be very embarrassing and tough on those around you.

Millions of people suffer from mouth odour without even realizing it because people are afraid to tell them. It is not very often that you have a friend who will be bold enough to tell you that your breathe is exuding an offensive odour.

A lot of times they do not want you to feel embarrassed and they will rather endure the odour than tell you or even in a subtle way try to offer you solutions.

Bad breath is often caused by a buildup of bacteria in your mouth that causes inflammation and gives off noxious odours. When you don’t brush or floss regularly, bacteria accumulate on the bits of food left in your mouth and between your teeth. The compounds released by these bacteria make your breathe smell.

For some people, mouth odour is a problem that only rears its ugly head in limited situations, such as when you get out of bed in the morning or after eating pungent food.

For some others, it is a problem that is ever-present, no matter whether they brush and floss their teeth, rinse with mouthwash or suck on mints.

Chronic bad breath can profoundly affect a person’s self-esteem and daily life, even to the extent that that person may isolate himself for fear of embarrassment.

A number of things can cause mouth odour and they include: dental cavities, gum disease, poor oral hygiene, coated tongue (a white or yellow coating on the tongue, usually due to inflammation).

These are among the most common.

Other causes may include dry mouth, infections such as sore throat or sinusitis, or intestinal disorders, such as heartburn, ulcers, and lactose intolerance.

Food and drink, such as garlic, onions, coffee, and alcohol, can temporarily cause bad breath. Smokers also suffer from it.

Whatever the cause, all hope is not lost as there are ways to solve mouth odour problem. It involves correcting the underlying disorder.

Below are solutions to mouth odour.

1. Drink plenty of water: Bacteria’s sworn enemy is oxygen, which is found in your own saliva. Drinking water makes you produce more saliva, which in turn neutralizes bad breath.

2. Scrape your tongue: Each morning, scra.pe your tongue with a tongue scrapper or spoon to decrease the bacteria, fungi and dead cells that can cause odour. Hold the tip of the tongue with gauze to pull it forward in order to clean the back of the tongue.

3. Rinse with mouthwash: Some mouthwashes do more than leave breath smelling minty; they contain antiseptic agents, such as cetylpyridinium chloride, to reduce plaque and prevent gingivitis, which can also cause bad breath. Studies show that chlorine dioxide is very effective at neutralizing the stinky volatile sulfur compounds created by oral bacteria.

4. Eat vegetables: Fibrous vegetables, such as celery and cucumbers, boost your mouth’s saliva production, which washes away odor-causing bacteria. In fact, holding a slice of cucumber between your tongue and the roof of your mouth for about 90 seconds helps limit odor. Crunchy vegetables help remove plaque on teeth and gums, which bacteria can feed on, says Gregg Lituchy, a cosmetic dentist in New York City.

5. Sugar-free gum: Again, it’s all about saliva. Chewing gum increases the production of saliva and chewing just one piece makes your mouth create up to 10 times more saliva than usual. But not just any pack will do. Sugar-free mints also stimulate saliva production and temporarily mask odor.

6. Practice good oral hygiene: Brush twice a day to remove food debris and plaque and don’t forget to brush your tongue. Replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months or after an illness. Use floss to remove food particles and plaque between teeth once a day.

7. Arrange regular dental checkups and cleanings: You should see a dentist regularly, at least twice a year. He or she will conduct an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning and will be able to detect and treat periodontal disease, dry mouth, or other problems that may be the cause of bad mouth odor.

At Last: Kim Kardashian in Fashion Fail (Photos)

Kim Kardashian has been rocking a range of interesting outfits since Paris Fashion Week kicked off.

But she's definitely missed the fashion mark with this latest creation. I think she may have mistakenly allowed Kanye to style her today

The 34-year-old star was on her way to the Louis Vuitton show with hubby Kanye West when she was pictured wearing an unusual long black dress.

The star kept her ample assets covered up in the high-necked frock, which had ruffles running down the front and a small split in the middle.

Her Step-Father Sneaked Into Her Room And Made Love To Her

My step-father sneaked into my room and made love to me

Relationships Tuesday, March 10, 2015

http://ift.tt/1872chl

Dear Bunmi,

I AM an undergraduate in one of the universities and I've recently done something really terrible. My mum was a single mother of two for years until she got married to a nice widower last year. The man has just completed his house, so we all moved in with him along with the three children from his first marriage. We had the house-warming party around Christmas and we all had too much to drink. In the night my step dad came over and we made love.

My head cleared in the morning and I've felt horribly guilty ever since. My step dad now carries on as if nothing happened but I feel really guilty and don't know what to do. I don't want mum to know what happened, yet she needs to be aware of the type of maniac she is married to. Please help.

Augusta,

By e-mail.

Dear Augusta,

This is definitely a tricky situation. Your mum will definitely be hurt if you tell her what has happened. In fact, she may be so bent on defending her new found happiness she might choose to trust her new husband and not you. Your best bet is to have a heart to heart chat with your step dad. Tell him how much you love your mum and how you've both betrayed her trust by sleeping together. Then let him realize you're willing to put the ugly incident behind you if he promises it won't happen again.

Sadly, what you've just experienced is not new though that doesn't make it right. If this man breaks his promise and tries again, then you'll have no option than to tell your mum or confide in a trusted member of the family who can effectively intervene.

Spanish Female Politician Campaigns Nude (18+ Photo)

A top female politician in Spain, Yolanda Couceiro Morin, has released a campaign poster featuring her unclad body covered only by her own hands with the title, “Politicians have left us stark unclad.”

Morin, a member of the right-wing Partido por la Libertad – Manos Limpias, or “Party for Freedom – Clean Hands,” told Spanish daily she hopes the “eye catching” ad will convince Portugalete voters to “focus on the problems of their neighbors.”

Morin’s poster appears to take inspiration from a 2006 poster for centrist party Ciudadanos, which depicted party founder Albert Rivera striking a similar pose in the buff.

Suspected Boko Haram member escapes arrest

A suspected Boko Haram member, who feigned madness, narrowly escaped arrest at Buni Yadi town in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe on Tuesday. The Commander, 27 Task Force Brigade, Damaturu, Colonel Usman Yusuf, gave the order to arrest the supposedly madman when he was sighted in one of the dilapidated buildings in the deserted town.

As troops advanced to carry out the order, the suspect, who wore a white garment with an unkempt hair and chanting some incantations, disappeared.

The incident occurred when the commander led a group of newsmen who were on a guided tour of towns recently liberated from Boko Haram insurgents, visited Buni Yadi to see things for themselves. Yusuf, however, assured that the troops would fish out the suspect soon.

The suspect was believed to be on a surveillance mission for the insurgents but pretended to be insane. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Gujba and Gulani Local Government areas in Yobe were captured by the insurgents in July 2014 and remained under their control for nine months.

There are 17 local governments in the state. But Gujba, including its headquarters, Buni Yadi, were liberated in the last three weeks, while operation to free Gulani was ongoing, according to Yusuf. He described Buni Yadi town as one of the strongholds of the insurgents in the state.

The terrorists blew up the only bridge linking the local government area with the state capital, Damaturu, and other towns shortly after they occupied the area. Before retreating from Buni Yadi, they also burnt down most of the houses, schools, the Local Government secretariat, motor parks, court, the Emir’s palace and market. Apart from troops on guard, the supposedly madman, a dog and a cat were the only living beings sighted in the deserted town.

The commander listed other towns recaptured by troops in the state to include: Fkayel, Gulani, tetteba, Bunsa, Bularafa, Kukuwa Geri and Buni Geri.

Dolce & Gabbana made headlines, not just when it sent models carrying their children down the runway, but also with what the models were wearing on their heads.

D & G has produced glittering headphones in red, green and gold, some are embellished with crystals and pearls, while others were outfitted in fur.

The fashionable headphones include a hunter green pair in nappa leather, embellished with Swarovski crystals, pearls and fox fur, which is perhaps the most exquisite, with a pre-sale asking price just shy of $8,000 on Moda Operandi, a red nappa leather pair embroidered with Swarovski crystals and pearls without fur at $7,095 and if you want to feel special, D&G made sure to include a pair that doubles as a gold tiara and is iPhone compatible.

Do You Believe In Karma? Share Your Experiences

My husband says as a Christian ,I shouldn't believe in what people call karma but I have seen this happen over and over again, people reap what they sow. Find me another word to call it. You can't sow coco yam and expect to go and harvest gboko yams

Too many examples I have seen but two stand out to me

One

I know a man and his wife who were close friends with this other couple we know. The two men had been childhood friends in Nigeria, emigrated to the the USA and remained tight friends ,both men married and their wives also became good friends.Eventually one of the couples divorced over the wife's infidelity. The other couple betrayed this man by remaining friends with that wife accompanying her to pack her stuff from her matrimonial home and giving her emotional support in the courtroom during the divorce.

We were so saddened to hear all this ,my husband expressed to the disloyal friend that he didn't act right and when the betrayed man told us about his divorce and his wife's infidelity in tears ,what hurt him most was the actions of his best friend and his wife.

A decade later ,that second couple were at the verge of divorce and one day it hit me,this was karma about to happen. I asked my husband to call this guy and ask him to go beg his former friend for his role a decade ago,my husband didn't want to be involved ,well they divorced and the man suffered worse fate.He ended up homeless and penniless and squatting with someone when the wife kicked him out and filed for divorce with a restraining order.

Two

A second case that stands out to me is an overbearing mother in law that treated her daughter in law so badly because she took a while to get pregnant and when the DIL eventually got pregnant she had a still birth and her mother- in-law told her the marriage was over.she went from that hospital back to her parent's house and the man married another wife at the command of his mom.

The MIL's only daughter was young when all this happened. She eventually grew up to be a very beautiful girl with suitors swarming.

She married the first husband and her MIL hated her with a perfect hatred. She couldn't conceive and the treatment got worse. She was eventually thrown out of her matrimonial home literally.i heard she threw out her belongings on the street and locked the door, she married the second husband ,an older man and he got sick a few years later and died .The girl had no child till this day.

It was just a few weeks ago it hit me and I told my husband, this is karma

Her daughter was treated the same exact way she treated someone's daughter ,perhaps worse.

Landing Cost Of Petrol Increases Because Of Devaluation Of Naira

The recent relief enjoyed in subsidy payment by the federal government as a result of the drop in the international price of crude oil has further been eroded as the recent devaluation of the naira by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has led to the high landing cost of petrol.

THISDAY gathered that before the naira was devalued from N171 per dollar to N199 per dollar, the landing cost of PMS was N82.41 per litre, and expected open market price was N97.90 per litre, with the price of crude oil at $60 per barrel.

This translated to a subsidy payment of N0.90 per litre, compared to N44 per litre before crude oil price slumped.

This had effectively reduced subsidy claims from N1.54 billion daily to N0.90 per litre or N31.5 million daily, representing daily savings of N1.225 billion.

But with the recent devaluation of the country’s currency by the CBN, the landing cost of petrol has since risen, even though crude oil price still hovers around $60 per barrel.

The latest official pricing template released at the weekend by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) showed that the Federal Government now pays subsidy of N35.22 per litre, as against 90 kobo per litre before the devaluation of the Naira.

According to the latest template, while the landing cost of petrol is N106.72 per litre, compared to N82.41 before the devaluation, the expected open market price (EOMP) has also shot up to N122.22 per litre, up from the previous N97.90 per litre.

While blaming the high cost of petrol on the devaluation of the naira, marketers however, said the increased subsidy claims were partly as a result of the government’s reduction of the pump price from N97 to N87.

The Executive Secretary of Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), Mr. Obafemi Olawore had stated that as the value of the naira was also declining, the cost of petrol was rising, despite the slump in crude price.

“For petrol, the exchange rate for bringing products before the devaluation was N171.36 per dollar. At that rate, the landing cost of petrol was N90.67 per litre.

There was a time the exchange rate rose to N188, that is, N188 was the interbank rate, while the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) gave us N171.36. But when it went to N188, the landing cost of petrol rose from N90.67 to N98.36. As at today when the exchange rate has gone to N199 (there is no window again), the landing cost rose to N103.45. So, you see that the main factor here is the exchange rate. If it moves to N215 per dollar, the landing cost will move to N110.84,” he explained.

Unbeaten Porto Reach Uefa Champions League Quarter Final Stage.

Porto are through to the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in six years after an emphatic 4-0 home thrashing of FC Basel.

The Estadio do Dragao hosts, who were without top marksman Jackson Martinez, came into Tuesday night’s encounter on the back of a 1-1 draw from the first leg at St Jakob-Park, but were rarely troubled by Basel as they struck four un-replied goals.

Algerian midfielder Yacine Brahimi opened scores for the Portuguese when he curled a delicately taken free-kick over the wall into the net from 20 yards.

Hector Herrera doubled Porto’s advantage beating Tomas Vaclik in goal for the Swiss champions. Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, on loan from Real Madrid crashed in his free-kick from 30 yards to make scores 3-0.

Vincent Aboubakar, standing in for the injured Martinez, wrapped up an impressive night for coach Julen Lopetegui’s side with another superb goal.

Basel ended the game with ten men as Walter Samuel saw red for a second bookable offence after a foul on the Cameroonian striker.

Porto now joins Chelsea as the only unbeaten sides in the Uefa Champions League this year.

80 Children Rescued from A Boko Haram Camp in Cameroon Can’t Remember their Names.

80 children who were freed from Boko haram camp in Northern Cameroon by Cameroonian soldiers in November 2014 cannot remember their names or where they are from and are yet to be united with their families and loved ones.

According to Christopher Fomunyoh, a director for the US-based National Democratic Institute, the children range from 5-18 years of age and do not speak English, French or any local language.

Mr Fomunyoh in an interview with BBC’s Randy Joe Sa’ah in Yaounde, Cameroon said the children had spent so long with their captors and have been indoctrinated into jihadist ideology that they had lost track of who they were.

“They’ve lost touch with their parents.

They’ve lost touch with people in their villages, they’re not able to articulate, to help trace their relationships, they can’t even tell you what their names are.”he said He said they are now in an orphanage where they are being rehabilitated.

The Wisdom of Madness: - Must read

A young female friend wondered aloud to me the other day. She said that men of this age seem to be interested in only big girls. She concluded with ‘’every lady should start packaging herself… If she doesn’t want any man to look down on her’’. I opined that men of substance(not lazy men) actually look for focused ladies… Someone who knows what to do with her time and makes efforts to improve herself.

As far as i am concerned, the so called packaging is another name for fake life style. Projecting an image that is far from one’s reality!

I do not get why an unemployed girl would be living way above her means just to net a rich guy and actually justifies her ways by a mistaken notion that if she appears cheap(?)…such a man would think she is classless. For real? Except the man is in your league (mentally)… He should actually be interested in finding out if your source of livelihood justifies your life style.

The word moderation seems to have vanished from our vocabulary and I wonder if mothers are still doing their job or is it a case of social influence having the upper hand? I also think every lady should make an attempt to retrain herself at some point in life… Whoever that is realistic with herself should have an idea of what her flaws are. How can you be comfortable carrying a phone of close to 100,000 Naira around when you have no job? Even if it’s a gift, I have no doubt that the person that can give you such gifts will have no problems paying for you to get; further educated, Acquire skills or even start up some entrepreneurial ventures. It’s almost like the percentage of girls that don’t do brazilian(and co) weave ons is fast nearing zero because for some odd reason…wearing the big hair has become the obsession of mostly those that can’t afford it.

A lot of girls have come across people who genuinely want to assist but for some misguided attitude on the part of these girls. A friend told me that he met a lady that he genuinely wanted to encourage after learning that she was still an undergraduate. He was sending her money regularly for her upkeep but had to close shop with her when all her demands centered on the latest smartphone and weave ons in town. The one that horrified me most is a demand to visit Bianca’s Spa at Enugu on a weekly basis.… He did not need to be told that she was a mistake. He didn’t expect such from a girl who should be more concerned with getting funding for her education and creating a business in school.

I truly can’t say what drives a lot of our girls but diligence and moderation is not one of them. Why should you be more eager to entertain the passes of every man that comes your way than you are willing to add value to yourself? A young lady(in her late 20s) chatted me up a few days back and I was most impressed to learn that she is learning a trade(on baby stuffs) and makeup -despite being a graduate. For a girl that is that focused…some of her mates are busy traveling all over the country to meet men.

Packaging is actually in the efforts you make to live a life of purpose(what you do with your time and the way you carry yourself-manners wise)…it has nothing to do with fake and unrealistic lifestyle. Again, ‘not having a job’ is not the issue (with a man of substance) but the way you engage your time and the efforts you make at improving yourself!!!

Hope I have pissed you off enough.... I wont be this raw next time.. I promise

SO HELP ME GOD

She Wants To Know How To Attract And Keep A Responsible Man?

I am beautiful, curvy and hairy. Chocolate skinned but it bothers me that I can't get and keep a man of my own.

Yes, I have admirers and stalkers but they don't fit into my picture of an ideal man.

The ideal men I have at my workplace, all they do is to admire and tell themselves " this bae make brain o". But none of them could approach me for a serious relationship because they often think I am taken.

Pls, my beloved #landers, how do I get them to toast me?.

Its kind of frustrating when your are lonely, no passionate calls, no sweet talkings. And u feel u have all it takes but the men ain't just coming

Newborn Baby Abandoned In Lagos Named After A Well-Known Man; GUESS WHO?

A newborn baby abandoned by the roadside on March 8, 2015, has been named after a late businessman and philanthropist, Molade Okoya-Thomas.

According to The Punch, the two-day-old baby was found around 4 pm at Marina, close to Wema Bank Plc. He was later picked up by Oscar Odiboh who runs a non-governmental organisation in Lagos.

The baby was first taken to the family support unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Adeniji Adele Division, and then handed over to the Lagos State Government who had since taken responsibility for the child.

Commenting on the incident, Oscar Odiboh, the President of Afribaby Initiative, said that he got a call and immediately rushed to save the baby.

“I got a distress call on Sunday that a baby had been abandoned by the roadside at Marina. I left everything I was doing and rushed to the scene.

“While I was heading for the scene, I contacted the police and some medical personnel to be on standby. On getting there, I discovered that the baby was abandoned inside a kiosk. People were gathered and just watching, cursing the mother. Nobody dared to go near the baby. A few minutes after I got there, the police arrived and I was allowed to carry the baby. We took him to the station and I handed him over to the family support unit of the police at the Adeniji Adele Police Station.”

Explaining the choice of the name for the baby, the man said that the idea was to immortalise the late philanthropist, Molade Okoya-Thomas, who was passionate about child support.

“Knowing that the police would transfer the baby to the appropriate government agency, and in order to create an identity for the baby, I decided to name him after Chief Okoya-Thomas.

“Coincidentally, I was wearing one of his burial attires on that day and the baby, who we have adjudged to be about two days old, might have been born the same day our he was buried,”he said.

A police officer in the family support unit of the station confirmed the incident and added that the baby was now with the Office of Youth and Social Development.

SO SAD: Read What Happened To About 80 Children Rescued From Boko Haram.

Information reaching us indicate that the over 80 children that were rescued by military operatives from Boko Haram camp in Cameroon cannot remember their own names or origins.

This was made know to BBC on Wednesday by a director for the US-based National Democratic Institute (NDI), Christopher Fomunyoh.

The official who visited them said the children; aged between 5 and 18 did not speak English, French or any local languages, adding that the affected children were found at a camp in northern Cameroon in November last year.

He said the children were rescued in Cameroon after security forces acting on a tip-off raided what was believed to have been a Koranic school.

Fomunyoh further revealed that he has visited an orphanage that was saddled with the responsibility of rehabilitating the children.

According to him, the children have spent a long time with their abductors, where they have being indoctrinated in jihadist ideology, that have made them lost track of who they were.

“They’ve lost touch with their parents.

They’ve lost touch with people in their villages, they’re not able to articulate, to help trace their relationships, they can’t even tell you what their names are,”he said.

It would be recalled that after the military made Nigerian territory unbearable for the Islamist sect, most them flee to Cameroon and build camps.

The Islamic militants who are fighting to establish a caliphate in north-eastern part of Nigeria have been severely dealt with of late by the military operatives, but instead of relenting in their attacks and surrendering to the Nigerian government due to the huge casualties which is almost on a daily bases, the sect went ahead to pledged allegiance to Islamic State (ISIS) militants, who have seized large areas of Syria and Iraq.

It was learnt that the suspects, 37-year-old Alfa Saheed Momodu and Hammed Adebayo (26), who shared the same flat in the compound, tapped the electricity from their neighour, identified only as Tunde.

PUNCH Metro gathered that their apartment was cut off after they failed to pay a sum apportioned to them as their electricity bill for one year.

It was said that they had been thriving on the illegal connection for months before Tunde discovered their ploy, having barged into their flat around 8pm on February 3.
