FG Bans The Use Of Camouflage Uniforms By Other Forces

null

The use of camouflage uniforms by various security agencies other than the Armed Forces namely the Army, Navy and the Air Force has been banned.

The Nigerian Police will however, use its camouflage uniform when in Joint Operation with the military or on special operation such as specific anti-riot missions, a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, said Friday.

Olukolade, a Major General, said the new rule was sequel to the directive of the National Security Council approving the recommendations of a committee on measures to streamline the use of camouflage uniforms.

This, he said, was in view of the security implications and concerns raised on the clamour, duplicity and proliferation of camouflage uniforms in the country.

“The use of camouflage/fatigue is therefore restricted to the military and for occasional use by the police henceforth”, the statement said.

The Defence spokesman added, “The directive also stipulates that the military is to adopt only two types of camouflage for the three arms of the Armed Forces.

“All para-military agencies using various camouflage/fatigues uniforms have up to January 2016 to withdraw such materials currently in their inventory.

“With this development, the Ministry of Justice along with law enforcement agencies have been tasked to ensure that extant laws guiding the use of uniforms in Nigeria are strictly enforced.

“In the same vein, the Office of the National Security Adviser has been vested with the authority to vet and clear any production and supply of camouflage uniforms in Nigeria.

“The proliferation and imitation by criminals and impostors using uniforms especially the camouflage have been generating some concern in national security circles.

“The development has been communicated to all the agencies by the Office of the National Security Adviser

NECO To Commence CBT In Subsequent Exams

The National Examination Council (NECO) has concluded plans to introduce Computer-Based Test(CBT) in objective papers of its subsequent examinations.

This disclosure was made known on Thursday in Abuja by the Chairman, NECO Governing Board, Dr Paddy Njoku, during the board’s monitoring visit to the Model Secondary School, Maitama, Abuja.

Mr. Njoku revealed that the visit was necessary since the day’s paper — Mathematics — was compulsory for all the students.

He said: “We will introduce CBT in papers that need computer in the next exams, but some other subjects are either practical or essay; so you cannot put everything under CBT.

“Mathematics is compulsory; so the hall will be full; that is why we decided to inspect them today.

“We do about four levels of monitoring; we have invigilators’ supervisors, security men and external monitors drawn from institutions of higher learning, who independently, monitor without getting involved in the administration of the examination.

“The board comes out to monitor and get direct assessment of the situation so that nobody tells stories and all these we do to ensure very strict control of our examination.’’

World’s first penis transplant recipient to become a father

null

The South African man who made headlines in March for having the world’s first successful penis transplant is to become a father. His girlfriend is said to be 4 months pregnant. His doctor, Professor Andre van der Merwe says this development proves without a doubt that ‘the transplant worked’.

The 21 year old recipient, who has not been identified, lost his penis in a botched traditional circumcision three years ago and had the ground-breaking, nine-hour surgery in December 2014.

“This is what we intended, that he should be able to stand up and be able to urinate and have intercourse, so it is a milestone for him,” Dr Van der Merwe, head of Stellenbosch University’s Division of Urology, told the BBC. He added that he was “very pleased” for his patient that he was to become a father

Man Arrested for Sexual Assault In Lagos

The Lagos state police command has arrested a 49 year old plank seller and father, Adeboye Adesola (pictured right) for allegedly having sex with his 14 year old daughter (pictured left) who is in SS1.

The girl said she moved in with her father and his new wife in a one-room apartment in Ikorodu after she lost her mother. According to Daily Independent, the girl alleged that he first had sex with her in November 2014 and tried it again in March 2015 immediately after he separated from her stepmother. He slept with her claiming he wanted to see if she was still a virgin.

After the second encounter, she ran away from home and took refuge in a church where she told a pastor what her father had done to her. The pastor and other church leaders reported the case at the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos on May 20th. Her father was arrested on May 21st.

“My mother died when I was three years old. We were six in number living in the room, my father, his new wife, my younger brother and my two half sisters. My mom died in 2007. She gave birth to me and my brother. It all started in 2014. He used to check my private part to see if I had started menstruating or having sex with men. I was sleeping in the midnight, he removed my wrapper. By then, my step mother had packed out of his house because she was accused of dating other men in the compound. He inserted his finger in my private part and asked me if I had started menstruation, I said no. He asked if I have had sex before and I said no. He said he would use his penis to test it. He climbed on me, I wanted to scream, but he held my mouth. I bled from that night till the following day. I felt very bad but he warned me that nobody must hear what he did to me. He repeated it again on 5th March, 2015. He did it between 9pm and 10pm. He used condom in the first one. This time, he asked me to remove my clothe and lie on the bed. It was a Thursday night, I could not bear it anymore. So the following day, I packed my things and left the house. I dropped a note that he should not look for me. I moved to a nearby church and stayed there. My uncle took me to the church and the members brought me to the police station after I told them what my dad did to me.”the girl said.

When interrogated, her father blamed the devil for his action

“The day I was brought here (police station), I was thoroughly beaten by members of the O’odua People’s Congress (OPC) who forced me to confess that I had canal knowledge of my daughter. But here in the police station, nobody beat me. I told the Oga that it was devil’s work. Oga, I’m sorry, pity me. I’m from poor family. I am the only one taking care of them. Forgive me for whatever happened, I did not know what happene
