President Buhari Returns To Nigeria, Summons APC Lawmakers To Emergency Meeting (Photos)

The crisis in the All Progressives Congress has forced President Muhammadu Buhari who had vowed all along to not interfere in the process for the election of the leadership to step in.

The president, who returned to Nigeria in the early hours of today, has summoned an emergency meeting of members of the national assembly elected on the APC platform.

The aspirants in the party for the senate presidency and House speakership have refused to step down for each other or accept the arrangement of the party which chose Ahmed Lawan for senate president and Femi Gbajabiamila for speaker.

Their opponents Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara respectively rejected the party’s position and have now received the endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party which asked its lawmakers-elect to vote for the two men.

Buhari’s meeting with the lawmakers will hold on Tuesday morning at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, starting from 9am, just before the federal lawmakers head for the national assembly complex to elect their leaders.

Lai Mohammed, the APC national publicity secretary, who sent out a notice to that effect, said that “all concerned must endeavour to attend”.
