A 14-year-old boy was sentenced to 5months imprisonment for allegedly murdering his step-mother’s fowl in their house in Kano state.
According to a legal council, Audu Bulama Bukarti, the boy, whose identity was withheld had a dispute with his step-mum in Wudil local government area of Kano State some five months ago.
“He was taken to the police station by the step-mum over her chicken and when efforts by the police to settle them yielded no result, the case was transferred to court,” said the attorney.
World Wide Weird News reports that the boy had so far spent five months at a youth detention center.
Bukarti further decried the deplorable state of the Youth Detention Centre where the boy was kept adding that the detainees were being starved by the management.
The state commissioner for women affairs and social welfare, Dr. Binta Tijjani Jibril however, refuted the claims stating that the inmates were not in anywhere deprived of food as they were fed thrice daily.
